Politics / Ekiti Election: Olusola Eleka Challenges Fayemi’s Victory At Tribunal by dammy13(m): 7:45pm On Aug 03, 2018
Prof. Kolapo Olusola, Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, and governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the July 14 gubernatorial poll in Ekiti State, on Friday, submitted over 700 pages of petition to the election Tribunal in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, alleging ballot box stuffing, snatching, use of security forces to manipulate electoral process and gross falsification of results.

While submitting the petition at about 5:30p.m. on Friday, Eleka said: ” Today, I formally filed the much expected petition against the results of the July 14, 2018 governorship election, which was openly manipulated by political desperadoes, using instruments of the Federal Government.

“Like I have maintained, I am challenging the election results not out of desperation to be governor, but for reasons of future and posterity, and largely on behalf of the people of Ekiti, who were taken aback by the outcome of the election.

“Without doubt, the will of the people was subverted by those who have chosen to take Nigeria back to the dark days of ballot stuffing, ballot boxes snatching and outright falsification of election results and I believe they deserve to get justice.

“As law-abiding citizen of our country, the only path of honour to take in a situation like this is the process that we have initiated today, to seek redress against the use of security forces and other instruments of the Federal Government to suppress the will of our people.

“Sadly, the desperation of the APC to take over all states in the country, especially those under governors like Dr. Ayodele Fayose, perceived as uncompromising, has destroyed all the gains made by the PDP government regarding free, fair and credible elections.

“The mood of Ekiti people when the beneficiary of the electoral robbery was declared winner and up till today is a pointer to the resolve of the people not to accept the subversion of their will and we have answered their calls to use the judiciary to get back their mandate.

“ln doing this, we have presented overwhelming discrepancies in the results declared by INEC to the tribunal to adjudicate upon and I am confident that the popular mandate of the people of Ekiti will not go un-restored.

“I therefore want Ekiti people to keep hope alive, remain strong and resolute in their belief in God.

” While we go through this judicial walk to exposing the electoral thievery of July 14, 2018, we urge the good people of Ekiti State, especially my teeming supporters to remain calm, peaceful and prayerful, bearing in mind that those who stole their mandate will not enjoy the benefits for long.

“I also want to use this opportunity to condemn the indefinite closure of the State Radio and Television stations.

“No doubt, the closure of the radio and television stations was part of the grand plan to sustain the inglorious use of naked force to rob Ekiti people of their democratic rights, but the people will triumph ultimately,” he said.

Career / Success Comes By Work & Not By Wishing! by dammy13(m): 2:53pm On Aug 03, 2018
You can never get anything out of life than what you have put into it. As nothing develops and materialize into success without work.

Success is actualize through work. Work is the seed that must be sown to harvest the precious fruit called success; as every reaping is preceded by sowing. Every pleasure is preceded by labour.

Even though our Nation’s economy have not given you the opportunity to be gainfully employed; your success is not tied to the government but to your arms and the inherent potentials in you yarning for expression.

Work is the avenue for physical, social, and mental development that will enhance the profitability of your potentials and invariably enhance your worth as an individual. Until you begin to work, you really never know what you can do. Until you begin to work, you really never know your capabilities. Until you begin to work, you really never know the potentials inherent in you nor be able to unlock them.

Your worth in life is determined by how much of your potentials you are willing to release through hard work. Thus, idleness will hamper your creativity to maximize your potentials.

A wise man said, “Too much rest, leads to rust. Inactivity results in flabby muscles, extra fat, weak heart, poor circulation, shortness of breath, weakness of bones, tendons and ligaments.” All these are physiological symptoms of death. Idleness is a pathway to death, if not checkmated.

God never placed you on the Earth as a liability nor as a mercenary in the hands of politicians nor an instrument of chaos in the hands of the Devil; but an entity of productivity and worth, that can only be exhibited through work.

Embrace work today & become an envy tomorrow!

The University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka, appeared in the eighth position among Nigerian higher institutions and ranked 5,025 in the world. Ahmadu Bello University and the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State, completed the list of the first 10 universities in the country.

In a statement on Sunday, July 29, Tunde Olofintila of ABUAD said the institution was founded by a renowned Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Aare Afe Babalola, in a bid to deal with the academic decadence in Nigeria.

Olofintila said that ABUAD was established to “be a practical example of how problems militating against the growth of Nigerian universities can be solved and lead others in quality and functional education.”

“In the eight years of its existence, the university is popularly known as the fastest growing university in Africa. Its College of Law was acknowledged as the Best College of Law in West Africa by the NUC, while the College of Engineering was described by the Nigeria Society of Engineering as the template for engineering education in the country. The college has won global awards in London and USA.”

Another great option was MAUTECH. You could remember it as Federal University of Technology Yola, but it had since rebranded. Once again, you can study Architecture at this great university for a reasonable price (₦15,900 per year).

Politics / Learn From Dino Melaye! Nigerians Urge Army To Always ‘climb A Tree’ by dammy13(m): 2:39pm On Jul 30, 2018
Senator Dino Melaye representing Kogi West, yesterday narrated how he escaped being burned alive by some unknown assailants as he headed for court in Lokoja from Abuja.

Malaye, while speaking with some journalists on Sunday said he climbed atop a tree and stayed there for hours in order to conceal himself from the men after his life. He said;

“When I got into the bush, I climbed a tree and stayed there. While on the tree, I saw two of the policemen coming to look for me, but they didn’t know I was on the tree. I was in the bush for 11 hours.

A lot of Nigerians have trolled Mr Melaye for what they have termed a badly written script. They mocked the senator for making a “mockery of their collective intelligence”, and even asked the Nigerian army to learn Melaye’s tree climbing skills to effectively combat Boko Haram.

See how some Nigerians on social media users reacted.

Politics / Aregbesola Wants Nigerians To Keep Faith In President Buhari by dammy13(m): 3:35pm On Jul 27, 2018
The Governor of the State of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has called on Nigerians to keep faith and truth in President Muhammadu Buhari, saying that the present federal government is determined to make life better and meaningful for Nigerians.

The governor stated this on Thursday while paying host to the Committee on South-West Youth and Women Sensitisation Programme led by the wife of the Deputy Governor of Katsina state, Hajia Mariya Buhari Munir who paid a courtesy visit to him at the government house in Osogbo.

Aregbesola while appealing to Nigerians to be patient with the Buhari led administration, stressed that despite the challenges Nigerians are facing, there is still light at the end of the tunnel because they have a president who can be trusted.

He said the damage inherited by President Buhari is not such that can be repaired in just one or two years, explaining that the nation would have experienced serious doom if the present administration had not come the time it did.

The governor described President Buhari as a partner in progress and a pillar of strength and support to many states at time when they could not finance themselves, sighting  the various assistance in form of bail-outs, the Paris Club refund and others which helped the states to find their feet.

Aregbesola said: “For whoever that has grievances with the present federal government, I want you to know that it is not always easy to correct an already damaged situation. It is obvious that there are challenges and pains, but I want us to see it as the challenge of building a new Nigeria.

“We should accept the hardships we are facing now as the price to pay for building the new Nigeria of our dreams, that country where everything will work the way it ought to is what our president is working hard to achieve. We shall get there and we shall all be better for it.

“We cannot give up on Nigeria at this time, we are almost there, let’s have faith in our president, we can do it and I know it is possible. Nigeria is redeemable and the process has already started with the present administration.

“Our president came at time when most states of the federation were going bankrupt, he came and stretched the hand of assistance in form of bail-outs and the refund of Paris club loans to states in the country which made them find their feet again.

“President Buhari has always been a partner in progress for all the states of the federation, he has been a mentor and pillar of support and strength for us in times of need.”

Pledging the continued support of the state for the Buhari led administration, Aregbesola  stated that Osun remains the base of progressive politics in Nigeria because the people have enough reasons to always stay with the party over the years.

He said: “The All Progressives Congress is very strong in Osun and it is not just a bogus claim, our people understand why they must be with us. Osun is the most supportive base of Buhari and Osinbajo in the South West and the entire country.”

In her address, Hajia Munir said: “I want to sincerely appreciate the governor of Osun for always being at the forefront of moving the south west forward, I am aware that Aregbesola has already laid a foundation for what we have come to do in the south west.

“The empowerment of women and youths cannot be overemphasized because they are very important in the society, we want our governors to continue to support any move that will help the progress of women and youths in our society the way Aregbesola has been doing.”

Crime / CAC Pastor Arrested For Scamming Church Members With Fake Job Offers by dammy13(m): 8:26am On Jul 27, 2018
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Operatives in Ondo State Command have arrested one Pastor James Abiodun Adeniyi, for allegedly defrauding his church members.

Adeniyi, who is the founder and officiating pastor of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Freedom City International, located at No 7, Gbogi Street, Akure, was arrested after complaints from members of the public.

The NSCDC Sector Commandant, Mr. Awili Pedro, said the clergy was arrested after complaints from some members of the church who he allegedly duped to the tune of N1.7 million.

Pedro said that the suspect allegedly defrauded an unsuspecting member of his church of N1.7 million by deceiving her to procure passport and visa for her son.

The commander said that Adeniyi also allegedly duped some unsuspecting unemployed youths in his church, by collecting money from them, while promising to help them with employment.

He said the youth, numbering 10, paid between N400,000 and N500,000 into the pastor’s account, but never secured the promised job. Pedro said that trouble started for the suspect when one of the suspects demanded the refund of her money. The pastor failed to pay back, claiming not to be involved in the deal.

Pedro said: “The pastor introduced his accomplice, Olamilekan Omole, to the church, who then connived with the pastor to defraud the unsuspecting victims.

The pastor had been dragged to court by the church youths, who were scammed by Adeniyi, demanding the refund of the money if he could not fulfil his promises.” One of the victims, Mrs. Folashade Olukini, explained that she paid N1.7 million for the procurement of American visa for her son but the pastor and his agent failed to procure the visa.

She said the agent had been on the run and refused to pick his calls for the past two months. Olukini said she had to hold the clergy responsible. She said: “Our pastor guaranteed that the agent was his Personal Assistant.

I started attending his church this year. He introduced his Personal Assistant as a travelling agent who could help to procure American visa. I approached them for my son’s visa. The pastor advised me not to pay until there was directive from God. He called me in February to go on with the arrangement.

I paid for the procurement of the visa by transferring the money into Olamilekan’s account twice, while they assured me the visa would be ready before end of April. “After I had transferred the money to the PA, he stopped picking my call. He disappeared and his phone number stopped going through. I approached the pastor, but said he knew nothing about it.

He promised to get across to the agent but there was no news. I demanded the refund of the money while the pastor claimed to be unaware of what transpired between me and the agent.” Another member of the church, Solomon Dauda, said he had to drag the pastor to court for defrauding him and his family over visa procurement issue.

Adeniyi, however, did not deny the allegations and expressed his readiness to refund the money. According to him, he introduced the victim to Omole, but said the agent had taken to his heels and couldn’t be located.

Adeniyi promised to pay back the money if released from NSCDC custody. He said: “I have agreed to pay back the money. The money was paid into Omole’s account but I promised to pay back the money. They need to give some me a little time.” The NSCDC commandant, however, said the suspect would be handed over to the police.
