Of course, depending on what you are rendering, u may decide to render the fast moving 3d object separately while maintaining shadows and reflections,
then you composite the two images in your post-production app applying either the default or an-effect based motion blur on the layer with with the object,

i wish to review this objectively,
PSquare have always been rather weak with regards to the content and quality of their music,
They however have been able to use their dance moves, great videos and understanding of the Nigerian Market to use and it has worked marvelously for them.
i am not really a fan but i recognize that they are following certain core business principles hence they remain relevant despite the weakness of their music,
Having said that we all know that they have a rather annoying habit of copying other artistes and not been very original,

REMEMBER the "To the left, To the right,  To the front, " song where they blatantly copied Usher?
But the video was great (by naija standards)at that time and it became a monster hit,

3 weeks later, and am almost done with this video, i scrapped out syntheyes from my workflow when i realized i didn't need 3d tracking to make the effects believable.
Anyway the video would debut on nairaland, youtube and TV stations around naija in the 3rd week of August, I'll post specific dates as they come up,

Yes, the Z1 is good enuf, i could list the major music vids that have been shot with it but the list would be endless.
But always remember that even the best camera wont guarantee good video. Work an your lighting, get it right and you are home free

Anyway recently i sat down and thot how much i have learned in recent years and i still realize there is so much more to know.
An example is this music video, ( i started out as a 3d modeler) but for this video i just realized i'll be using about 5 or 6 programs in my workflow,

Adobe Premiere(Basic Edit)
After Effects (Composting, grading etc etc)
Photoshop (Textures and stuff)
3D Max (For some 3d elements)
Syntheyes (To camera match the live shots to accept the 3d elements)

Fun all the way, I'll try and do a short Making Of specially for graphic and video people as the video comes along,

Ok, i have a VERY serious complaint about this forum, i happen to work with a particular music group on their music videos but anytime i try to post anything about them i get banned on Nairaland and the post gets deleted supposedly for "spamming".
Considering that this a public graphics and video forum 2 which i have played my own part and simply wish to share my experiences and little knowledge gained with others, i find this very unfair.
I have to conclude that Seun or one of the other moderators have some issues with these artistes(If not, I'll be grateful 4 some explanation cause i am seriously baffled). i cant mention their names cause if i do this post will be banned,  believe me i have tried this at least 10 times with the same results,

Anyway,So i'll just say i recently participated in a video shoot for an music group whom i will call "Musicians X" to b on the safe side. they became popular for a hit song "Take One Beer for  my head" and i wish to share some pics from the shoot,


, And yes that is a Sony PD170,  i know, i know,  it's not exactly state-of-d-art but it works and it's low-light performance is amazing, _{(and it's cheap)}

Before anyone finds out later and accuses me of being partial , let me first say that i am also a Video Director and here is my own opinion:
It's pretty hard to define "BEST" since each of them have thier unique strong points

DJ Tee: He is undoubtably still one of the best (U know my P, Yahooze etc)however early last year his videos had begun to seem repetitive and less creative hence the arrival of Clarence Peters was a breath of fresh air but he still holds his own anyday else he wouldnt be one of the biggest names,

Clarence Peters aka Capital:: These days Capital is the bOMb. He brought a totally fresh quality to music video's. i Appreciate His work rate. Believe me producing quality music video's in a week is not BEAN's(i know): however recently his videos also began to seem repetitive,  Basically it involved the artiste standing or sitting infront of some type of set and the camera moving usually in the now overused semi-circle pattern,  ( i guess it was from his fear of shooting outdoors)

But i can see with Aye Bo Gan by Illbliss and Owo by Lanre that he still has wat it takes to wow us,

Jude Okoye: as u guys said, Jude is a bit suspect cause we have never seen any other vids he directed besides P-square's ( i heard he usually doesnt do much in thier south-africa shoots only taking real control 4 videos like "No one like u" but na rumor ooo, no quote me). But if he really directs then big props to him,


Wudi Awa aka Wudland: I love this guy cause he dosent do that many videos but each one he does is great, and he is not a one hit wonder,  Besides No be God--Gino, there was Farabale--Gino,True Story--Timaya and more recently Kokoroko by Kefee which is doing great,


Gbenga Salu: If u need a graphical, visual and special effects laced music video, then this is the man for you. Green Screen, compositing, animation,  he seems to have it well in hand,  in this area he is probaly one of the best around,  Remember Aye Ole by  Infinity,  Bianule Remix by Samsong and most recently Ten-Ten by the Mo-hits crew,


There are also a lot of other guys doiing great work, i dont have much time else i would have posted AK One, FreshOut, Base1,, More later
As u can see, they all have their strengths

Whatever do be very careful when you finally choose a director, look at some of his previous work, if it isnt good enuf, WALK AWAY,
And ask around, am sure there are pretty good directors who would are looking to show their stuff. Take a look at ur budget estimate and work from there,

One question: It seems vray is good for arcitechtural renderings but not for
character rendering. Am I correct Dams? Also I know you use maya, I have never
heard that vray was available in Maya, so was it a stand alone software you used?

This was done with mental ray, I ve not seen a character rendered with vray yet.

As far as i know vray is great for all forms of renderings (character,architectural or otherwise, it has worked great for me so far.
Also were did u get the idea am i Maya person?, i dabbled once but 3dMax is my core 3d program(which was what i used 4 d rendering with ray)

zPixel is right, its (720*576) and when creating a new composition, its there as a preset,

For web animations, you can go a little smaller maybe (640 x 480), It all depends on a number of factors,

Hi people, haven't done some pure 3d work in quite some time, so last night i looked into a folder i have on my system called "Ongoing Projects" and saw some blueprints of a simple character a friend of mine had sketched over a year ago. (we had planned to do a simple animation).I convinced myself o start work on the model and two hours later this is what i had,
It's kinda still a vray job cause i used vray 4 this basic renders and it will be my final output renderer
