“Na Me Come Beg You For That Song” – Wizkid Clears The Air On ‘Fake Love’

This year, saw veteran singer Duncan Mighty participate in twenty-one features in a span of twenty-eight weeks – call it the Starboy effect, but all of these happened right after his classic collaboration with Wizkid dubbed Fake Love.

Prior to the release of Fake Love, the Port Harcourt first son who holds an unquestionable amount of talent wasn’t so much of a subject in the curriculum of the mainstream discourse. Unsurprisingly, the seemingly new buzz around the singer caused fans of Wizkid to posit that Ducan Mighty career had been resurrected by the Starboy.

Seven months later, Wizkid has finally reacted to the debate. After his joint performance of the said song with Duncan Mighty at his ‘Made In Lagos’ concert which held at Eko Atlantic city, the Starboy took some time to clear the air and appreciate the Port Harcourt first son.

“Dem no know say na me come beg you for that song”, the Satrboy revealed while celebrating Duncan Mighty. “…Today, I just want to thank you for blessing me with that song, ya’ll make some noise for this legend”, he continued.

It’s not true I’ve left my husband - Bose Omotoyossi lailasnews

It’s not true I’ve left my husband – Bose Omotoyossi

She said:

It is not true that I’ve moved out of my husband’s house. People just like to spread baseless rumours. In fact, I’m interested in hearing the gist because I wasn’t aware of it.

I think this rumour may have started because I commented on a post on Instagram which said that the traditional African woman who cooked, cleaned, took care of the house and was submissive had stopped being that way because she was repeatedly cheated on and abused.

I simply said that I agreed with what the writer posited. I have my plans and if I want to do anything, social media is a no-go for me. It has done more damage than good to me; even my career was affected! I would rather discuss success. I want everything about my home off the media.”

Affirming that her relationship with her husband was smooth, she said:

“There is nothing wrong between me and my husband. He is presently in Cotonou (as of Thursday) for a gala match and he will be back shortly. We are on good terms.”

Speaking on her current project, the actress and multiple brand ambassador said:

“I’m presently in Osogbo scouting for locations and other logistics for Dupe Rotimi’s TV series. After this, we would start proper shooting.”

Nigerians have taken to social media to congratulate popular actress, Funke Akindele, on the birth of twins.

The ‘Jenifa’ star actress is married to Abdulrasheed Bello, popularly known in the entertainment industry as JJC Skillz.

Disclosing the news of the birth on Saturday, Mo Abudu posted on Instagram: “This is a real season of joy and happiness for us all. It is with the utmost pleasure, excitement and all glory of our Lord that we share in the good news of the birth of our bundles of joy — the baby boy twins of our darling @funkejenifaakindele and her husband @jjcskillz. I am already on the queue to be godmother. God be praised. We ask that God continues to bless them, protect them and favour them greatly now and always.”

Omotunde Adebowale-David, popularly known as Lolo, who also plays the renowned ‘Adaku’ role in the Jenifa series, shared the news on Instagram, with a post that read: “Jehova, the one who knows how to shut the mouth of naysayers… I bow before you. I knew that God would do what no man can do and it is before this I bow. Iya Ibeji… What a marvellous God we serve. Funke, I know you will be singing old school gospel right now because you love them so much”.

A post by @jhoystin read: “Social media is jubilating. Families are rejoicing with you. Congratulations. This 2018 ended well for us”.

Aside a series of post on her Instastory alluding to the birth, the Akindeles have not officially announced the news.

Some messages on her Instastory, which were posted in the very early hours of Saturday, read: “Thank you Lord”; “Mo je oruko titun”; “Emi ti a da lewa Olorun”; “A ti fi oruko titun pe mi”, among others.

However, messages have continued to pour in from friends and well-wishers congratulating the couple.

As expected, the news of the birth of the twins has triggered much excitement, as although it isn’t JJC Skillz’s first child, it is a first for Funke Akindele, who is 41 years old.

Besides, one Pastor Olagorioye Faleyimu had prophesied in the past that the ‘Jenifa’ actress may never have children.

Celebrities / Olamide, Lil Kesh Under Attack For Promoting “blood Money, Yahoo” by DaMsOn007(m): 11:00pm On Dec 21, 2018
Olamide, Lil Kesh under attack for promoting “blood money, Yahoo”

Popular Nigerian singers, Olamide and Lil Kesh have come under attack on social media over their new song which Nigerians believe is promoting ritual killings and ‘Yahoo’.

The song titled ‘Logo Benz’ has lyrics like “If money no enter I go do blood money” and Nigerians aren’t finding it funny at all.

The song has since its release on Thursday stirred divergent reactions from Nigerians, especially on social media.

Some Nigerians condemned the singers for such lyrics said to be encouraging youths to engage in ritual killings and fraudulent act for money.

Here are some comments gathered by DAILY POST from Twitter:

@Bhadoosky ““If money no enter I go do blood money”
“ I have been shouting for years but people seem unbothered. Can we all come together and tell Olamide and Lil Kesh that “enough is enough” If they want to perish, they should perish alone and not drag other youths along.”

@Royzking “At this moment, Olamide and Lil kesh are toxic to the music industry.”

@Iakabdulaxis “Suddenly, Nigerians are woke. Falz spoke against Yahoo boys and praising illegal acts sometimes ago and majority came for him and labeled him a privileged child. Lil kesh and Olamide just remixed what 9ice said sometimes ago which was glorifying blood money. It’s now a norm.”

@JajaPhd “Music is usually a reflection of the society from which it originates at the time it is produced. So, Olamide and Lil Kesh are just producing music that reflect our society at this point in time just as Fela’s music in Fela’s time.”

@Tutofph “Olamide will soon come and tell us that the aim behind the Logo Benz song with Lil kesh is to dissuade young boys from involving in rituals, same thing after being bashed by the media for releasing a song like science student that promotes drug use!

@Abrahamdurodola “I don’t know how somebody will sit down and write song, and the next thing the song is promoting is rituals and killings in the society. Olamide and Lil Kesh should be fined for that song release.”

@Isimaodeh “This Olamide and Lil Kesh song is painful to listen to. A song that glorifies rituals, internet fraud and blood money. What does “If money no enter, I go do blood money” mean? That song will get across to millions of youth, that’s the worst part. There is no excuse for this.”

@Terrybrainz “Olamide is a cancer to the Nigerian music industry and youths in general. This new song with lil kesh is just rubbish

“What kinda lyrics is this ? “If money no enter i go do blood money” Are you kidding me ? Olamide should be cancelled.”

Art, Graphics & Video / ‘playing Queen Moremi Allows Me To Get In Touch With My Inner Soul’ by DaMsOn007(m): 8:27pm On Dec 19, 2018
‘Playing Queen Moremi allows me to get in touch with my inner soul’

Writer and performing artist, Kehinde Bankole, has featured in several movie productions in the past, but her role as the lead actor in the much-anticipated Broadway-style musical theatre from Bolanle Austen-Peters Production stable, Moremi the Musical, is a different terrain entirely for her. She is being challenged to bring all her artistry to bear in the engaging production, which performance starts on Friday, with Royal Performance scheduled for Sunday, December 23, with Ooni of Ife gracing it.

“What I love most about playing this role is the fact that I get to sing, dance, act, and perform at the same time,” she says. “I also like the fact that I get to express the inner me that the modern day would not allow me. It is allowing me to get in touch with my inner soul that is suppressed during my everyday life.”

Starring alongside giants of Nigerian movie industry such as Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, Femi Branch, Bimbo Manuel and Kunle Afolayan, Bankole relishes the experience of the production, which she describes as taking its toll on her physically and emotionally, adding, “It has been wonderful. Many people often say, ‘oh, it’s been great. Oh, it’s been amazing,’ as just the regular things that naturally come to you, but in actual fact, it has been very beautiful.

“I’ve been exposed to all sorts of beautiful people with diverse skills. Even though the role comes with its own complexities, the direction of Austen-Peters has made it easy for us all; she has a way of easing you into the role without stressing you. There will be dancing and music in the show; so, it promises to be a full and invigorating performance.”

Artistic productions are meant to pass across messages in addition to entertaining the audience. Moremi The Musical, being an adaptation of the legends of the Yoruba queen, Moremi Ajasoro, whose exploits in a dominant patriarchal society, presents the audience with some important lessons that can help the society, according to Bankole. She believes Moremi’s story can impact the society today as it did when the event happened by encouraging men to allow women take leadership roles in the society.

For her, Moremi’s feat “empowers us women; it inspires us to say if Moremi could do it then, when there was no technology, and no communication, why can’t we? We have so many things aiding us now to be better and stronger women. This story encourages women to explore the boundaries of possibility, encourages women to try new things, and make themselves available for roles in leadership, politics, etc.”

Bankole also feels Moremi’s role in the liberation of Ile-Ife, the cradle of Yoruba civilization, was important in giving a voice to women as it paved the way for women empowerment.

“If that community wasn’t saved by Moremi in the first place, women t wouldn’t even have a voice,” she says. “It goes to show that the little things you do today might have so many positive implications in the future. There is an Ooni there now, and there is a university there. There is so much happening there now.”

A characteristic of the queen, which, according to Bankole, is important in her remarkable exploit, is meekness, noting, “I believe there is a certain type of meekness covered in strength, strength rooted in calmness, not bullying.”She says she shares that characteristic with the heroine, Bankole also reveals that her interest in politics is also in concert with that of the legendary queen.

“I love anything that has to do with politics,” she avers, “I love peace. I love culture, and Queen Moremi strived for our people’s freedom. I share that in common with her, as I am a strong woman. I didn’t see Moremi, not even in my dream, but I’d like to believe that I do share something physically in common with her.”

Bankole also states that she does not have a single person she looks up to in the movie industry. Instead, she looks up to many of the notable movie stars from whom she learns everyday.“In the business, it will be difficult to pick just one person,” she says. “I have picked up from people like Viola Davis, Mercy Johnson, Funke Akindele, and Angela Bassett. You learn every day from several people everywhere to be very honest.”

Much is certainly expected from the performance of Moremi The Musical, not least because of the production team and the cast. While Bankole believes the audience would get value for its money when the show opens this Friday, with a Coomand Performance on Sunday, December 23, she says the audience would also see the difference between Moremi the Musical and other artistic productions.

“I want them (audience) to take all the things I’ve said,” she insists, “but additionally I want them to know that stage plays are very effective in communicating certain messages. Unlike the other mediums, stage plays are quite effective as they show an expression of real life. You can see the person, you can feel him or her; there’s no make-believe, and you can even touch the person.”

Stage acts like Moremi The Muscial would also serve to put live theatre production into deserving spotlight, and Bankole hopes Nigerians would appreciate theatre productions the more, noting, “I just want them to believe in this type of entertainment again.”The promising actress also reveals her inspirational ritual whenever she wants to go on stage: “I speak to myself. I tell myself to calm down, and to just relax. Self-motivation is a very important part of my mantra!”

Charlyboy weds wife in church after 40 years

Nigerian showbiz maestro and rights activist, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charlyboy, has formally walked his American wife, Diane, down the aisle after 40 years of marriage. Newsmen report that the marriage produced three children. Charlyboy and Diane exchanged marriage vows on Saturday evening at the Chapel of Sisters of Jesus the Redeemer Catholic Church in Gwarimpa, Abuja. The low-keyed wedding was officiated by the outspoken Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Dioceses, Bishop Mathew Kukah, and had in attendance close friends and relatives of the couple, including the aged mother of Charlyboy. Missionary style of sex is a thing of the past – Mide Martins The Archbishop of Abuja Catholic Diocese, Cardinal John Onaiyekan, was also in attendance among some other clergymen. The couple exchanged the “I do” vows amidst cheers from the congregation. They thereafter signed the marriage register. Onaiyekan, in his exhortation, hailed the couple for staying together for over four decades. He, however, urged them to be committed to their marriage vows by showing mutual love, understanding and respect for each other. ”I specially congratulate Charles and his wife for this Godly decision, and I pray God to keep them together.” Charlyboy told newsmen on the sidelines that he and his wife decided to wed in church to honour his aged mother who had been ‘pleading that we do the right thing’. He told newsmen that he got married as a teenager in 1974, and secured divorced after the union produced one child. He noted that the Catholic Church observed a strict marital doctrine. ”This is not that kind of marriage with fanfare; I am doing it to please my aged mother and meet certain demands of the society. ”She has been pleading that we do the right thing, saying this is the woman I have been living with for 40 years. ”We have been following through with the process of annulment of my last marriage, and my former wife who has since remarried cooperated very well, and then in 2017, the marriage was formally annulled. ”My mother actually got the wife for me at the age of 19 because I was a little rascally with women as a young man; she thinks it would curb my sexual excesses,” he said. Charlyboy, who is 67 years, has nine children from different women, and has 16 grandchildren. He has, however, always regarded Diane as the mother of all his children.

Egbuke is a celebrity photographer who came to cover his recent music concert in Gambia.

“Our leaders should have mercy on us. There is suffering in Nollywood. I just pray that God will make them have good thoughts towards us. If we are treated the way actors are treated in the western countries, you can imagine where we would be.

The only thing keeping many of us here is the passion we have for the job. If not for that, some people would have resorted to selling wares at Oshodi. There are no structures in place and pirates are also dealing with us.

“As for me, I have spent over 45 years in this industry; so, it is something that is already part of me. I cannot readily change to do another thing. However, I am happy that I don’t beg to eat and I am able to do things that my peers engage in.”

It’s not a sin to drink, says born-again Lynxx

Born-again singer and rapper, Chukie Edozien, aka Lynxx, says it is not a sin to take alcoholic drinks.

The rapper had reportedly been seen smoking at social functions but he had never addressed the issue.

While refusing to comment on reports of him smoking, he told Sunday Scoop, “It is not a sin to drink (alcohol). What was Jesus’ first miracle in the Bible? He turned water to wine. I still hang out with my old friends in the entertainment industry.”

He argued that despite being a born-again Christian, he wasn’t doing gospel music. He said, “I am born-again, but I am not doing gospel music and I don’t do secular music again too. I cannot call myself a minister of God just because I performed at a gospel show. I don’t have a name for my kind of music. If I feel like praising God today, I will make a song about God, and it doesn’t necessarily mean I am a gospel artiste.”

Lynxx stated that he hadn’t released a new song in a while because he took time off music. “I took a break because I needed to focus on business and my new found relationship with God in 2015. You could have a career but also have goals that might not be in line with what you do for a living. Sometimes, you have to make sacrifices and focus on other things before you get back to what you are known for,” he said.

The rapper maintained that he had never regretted his decision to quit secular music.

I’m yet to sleep with my sex doll – Pretty Mike

Club owner and socialite, Pretty Mike, who set tongues wagging when he introduced his sex doll to his followers on social media some months ago has revealed he’s yet to sleep with it.

In a recent interview with Saturday Beats, Pretty Mike explained the reason why he had yet to have sex with his doll. He also noted that calling Amaka a sex doll was offensive to him, adding that he saw her as his companion.

“I get offended when people refer to her as a sex doll. I uploaded that video because we just had a nice time together that weekend. Other people post their romantic gestures with their partners on social media, so I decided to post mine too. It’s all fun, (we’re) not harming anybody.

“We are not rushing to the sex part, we are taking our time; she is new to the country and environment. I am trying to make sure she is comfortable. At the appointed time, it will happen. I have a couple of nicknames for her but that’s personal, I have feelings towards her. A lot of people might have their various opinions about her but to me, she is what I want her to be, she is a special person,” he said.

Who Is The Better Player Between Ronaldo & Messi, Jurgen Klopp Reveals

Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp has weighed in on the debate over who between Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo is the best football player on the planet.

The pair have been winning the Ballon d’Or for the past decade, with Messi guiding Barcelona to La Liga glory last season while Ronaldo claimed his fifth Champions League winners’ medal last season before leaving Real Madrid for Juventus.

When asked by German TV, Klopp showed little hesitation in deciding between Messi and Ronaldo.

“That’s unfair again, just like [whether I want to win] the Champions League or Premier League,” Klopp told Sky Germany.

“But I would go with Lionel. Although, I adore both!”

Singer Danny Young Accuses Tiwa Savage of Stealing His Lyrics

Danny Young has taken to his Instagram to accuse Tiwa Savage of stealing his lyrics for her new song, “One.”

“I never knew I would be a victim of intellectual property theft until now. The worst pain is that my song was stolen by Tiwa Savage who happens to be one of my favourite female artists,” wrote the singer.

And from the video he shared, fans noticed the similarities in their verses. However, while many people insist that it wasn’t intellectual theft as the verse was taken from a Yoruba proverb, others added that the Mavin queen included more lines beyond the said proverb.

Watch the video below and tell us what you think.

Tiwa Savage had yet to respond to this as at press time.

Celebrities / I’ve Never Demanded Any Fee For Collabos — Mr Eazi by DaMsOn007(m): 10:35pm On Nov 23, 2018
I’ve never demanded any fee for collabos — Mr Eazi

Like their colleagues in other parts of the world, most Nigerian artistes hate to miss an opportunity to make more money, even from a possible collaboration with another artiste on a new song or album. In fact, in the absence of regular shows, some artistes seem to look out for such opportunities nowadays.

Although it is no longer secret that most musicians charge large fees to feature in collabos, popular singer, Oluwatosin Ajibade, aka Mr. Eazi, counts himself out of the league of artistes who demand money from their colleagues to take part in such projects.

The singer, in an interview with our correspondent, said that no African artiste could accuse him of demanding money to engage in a collabo.

He said, “No musician in Africa can claim that he paid me for doing a song with him. It is my policy not to charge fees for collaborating with fellow artistes on the continent, but I charge a lot of money to participate in shows outside Africa.

“I have been quietly funding music videos by some artistes in Africa. I have funded about six videos in the last two years. One of the artistes that have benefitted from my sponsorship was nominated for this year’s BET Awards in the United States. He is a rapper known as Kwesi Author.”

He said that after the rapper appreciatively spoke about him on social media, he was encouraged to unveil a bigger platform to help other struggling artistes to find their feet in the music industry.

The singer, who has just released a new mix-tape titled, Life Is Eazi – Vol.2: Lagos to London, disclosed that he had also benefitted from certain people who believed in him in the past. “A friend of mine, who knew I was doing music in the university, sponsored my first music video. It was a birthday gift from him. He also funded my dance video, which cost him less than $1,000.
