What started as approachment between our Igbo and Ijaw brothers has since degenerated into somewhat of a lover's tiff. No, that would be err incestuous, errm, somewhat of a family tussle more like. Anyway if Igbos and Ijaws are brothers, it is obvious Yoruba and Hausas be una mama and papa.

debosky:
Extremely poor analogy as well - TAXES make up the bulk of UK income, oil and gas receipts were split nearly 50-50 between Scotland and Westminster 7.5bn for Scotland and 9bn for the UK, compared to total receipts bordering above 350bn a year. Hardly comparable to Nigeria's case of 90+% from oil.
well not entirely. The economic component of the argument for Scottish independence revolves around those oil revenues as it does for the Niger delta struggle not on how the taxes collated by the federal government are distributed(although the latter is now the foundation for a fledgling English nationalism).

There is no reason proposing the funding arrangement in the UK as an example when the particular features most relevant to the the Niger Delta struggle are simply brushed over.
CultureRe: Why Igbos And Ijaws Must Unite by dangermous: 2:37pm On Feb 28, 2009
@ibime

the uk is prolly a poor example to use to support your cause. Yes, the councils do have some revenue raising powers but a substantial part of their income still comes from Westminster. And how does Westminster make all this money. Well, one is the City of London and the other North Sea Brent crude from Scottish waters. Input Bonny light for North Sea Brent and Niger Delta for Scotland and you practically have the Naija situation
Someone was saddened because I called Ijaws lazy.
Well see how their young men are running around in canoes demanding heaven and earth from the federal; government.
Now would you believe that these same Ijaw youths that cry marginalization were given jobs and they turned around and "subletted" the jobs to Igbos for a fee?
yes I said it and it's documented in an article.
Their young men would rather run around in AK 47,s,chase women and drink gin than work.
They gave the jobs to Igbos who would give them a portion of the wages.
Now does that sound like a people that like to work?
The average Ijaw man is said to be very lazy and their youths in 2009 have proven this.
Ibime, when will you realise there is no place for accord between ijaws and ibos.

Lol. Someone is actually advocating 8 more years for Babangida. What shamelessness.

This man was responsible for the desolate Abacha years, and you want to hand him another chance.

Is this country devoid of any qualified persons that we have to recycle failures?

At least Obasanjo twice handed over power, imperfect as both times have been. That puts him miles ahead of that Niger golddigger who thinks himself an academic.

PoliticsRe: Ibrahim Babangida Vs Olusegun Obasanjo by dangermous: 8:46pm On Feb 27, 2009
I just want to know how Babangida seems to have acquired a reputation for brilliance.

I remember him constructing the most most pretentious and anti intellectual transition programme known to mankind.

It went thus- the prominent democracy in the world has a conservative and liberal/social democratic line of division. I as military ruler will import wholesale this party system and not only that, write their constitutions as well to fit my idea of the issues around which the nation's politics be based.

Absolutely pathetic.

Now to the corruption. . . .

Geography will not help you draw distinction between Ogoni's and Ijaws.

The Ogoni's land is ensconced within Ijaw land.

About 130 years ago, a people (Ogoni's) travelled up the Atlantic coast fleeing persecution from Ghana (as is widely assumed). The benevolent ( grin) people of Opobo allowed them to settle in virgin bush between Opobo and Okrika. Till today, the Ogoni people remain the only non-Ijaws living in traditional Ijaw land. They are often classed as Ijaws, as they are surrounded on all sides by Ijaws, but they have a seperate language, culture and identity, not found anywhere ales in Nigeria.
LMAO. see stylish insult. Taxonomy I say, taxonomy. Me reckons, the Ogonis stand above the Ijaws in the hierachy

RichyBlacK:
I'm a bit confused why you're using the present continuous tense when were discussing a past event. However, I get your gist and it does not subtract from the following facts:

1. Igbos were the main target of the pogrom in 1966.
2. Igbos were murdered in many parts of Nigeria, not only the North.
3. Non-Igbo civilians were also murdered in the 1966 pogrom.
4. The federal government owe an apology to every family of ever person murdered in that massacre.

That the successive governments of Nigeria have failed to recognize these facts has only encouraged some of those who masterminded these massacres. Today, newer recruits are reading from the same playbook and the murder of innocent civilians continue in Northern Nigeria, the epicenter of the pogrom targeted at Igbos in 1966.
where else were they murdered and by whom??

whoever came up with that madrid analogy is almost on point. except inter are three time domestic champions and likely headed for a fourth while that madrid team was erratic at best.

fact is this inter team is shit and i don't know what game mourinho is playing. playing stankovic so central and so deep, a player as erratic as they come, was pretty daft.
