Transcribe- The moderator called Emeka on phone hailing him as the President of Nollywood. He asked what they (Actors and Nollywood) were doing to help Uncle Bruno. Emeka said he was presently in Abuja and was working on something. Moderator then asked if they (Nigerians) should wait before raising money until Emeka is done with his "homework" Emeka said " No o" All Nigerians should contribute whatever they can. Moderator then asked why Nollywood could not raise such a paltry sum. Emeka said-simply because he met an empty treasury. That all the millions and billions that we have been hearing about for Nollywood has all gone. That presently he and others were running the Actors Guild based on personal conviction and their own personal funds. Moderator then said Emeka said talk to Bruno later on phone. |
SenseiVoyles:Exactly 30 years? Thats wrong sir. Buhari was overthrown by Babangida on August 27th 1985-not July 17th. |

shamsuRana:General M.D. Yusuf? Or you mean Alhaji M.D. Yusuf? He was a former Inspector General of Police in the 1970s. He's not a General. |
barcanista:How is this reckless? In every country where there is preponderance of violence-roads are blocked for the President. Just to appear on talk show for Jay Leno in Los Angeles-do you know much traffic Obama caused in the already chaotic traffic of LA. And wherever and whenever any President of the USA goes to. The UK is a bit different-as there is no history of any UK Prime Minister being killed or a coup. In fact uptil the 1980s-policemen in the UK did not carry guns. Or you want Buhari to not use motorcade like Muritala to be killed by a drunk soldier. What could be done is for people to be made aware of roads to be closed and how long. http://bhcourier.com/obamas-l-a-visit-tuesday-set-traffic-headaches/ http://www.theblaze.com/blog/2011/10/25/a-picture-is-worth-1000-words-obama-traffic-jam/

Who has has watched Black November? Its a movie by Jeta Amata with A List Hollywood actors like Mickey Rourke (“Dexter”), Kim Basinger (L.A. Confidential)-also has Sarah Wayne Callies from the Walking Dead, Akon, Wyclef Jean and Vivica A. Fox (Kill Bill) amongst others. By Hollywood-it looks like a low budget B movie-but by this is really amazing by Nollywood standards-world class infact. Never heard of the movie till now. Just saw the trailer-hope to watch it! A Youtube synopsis reads: A volatile, oil-rich Nigerian community wages war against their corrupt government and a multi-national oil corporation to protect their land from being destroyed by excessive drilling and spills. To seek justice, a rebel organization kidnaps an American oil executive and demands that his corporation end the destruction and pollution. Inspired by true events, Black November is the gripping story of how a community rises up and takes drastic measures to make sure their voices are heard. These are kinds of movies-Nollywood can make that can be shown to a broad audience in the USA. Most Nollywood movies shown in the USA are just in selected halls for a Nigerian/African audience. A movie like this shown to a broad audience can bring in up to $10 million in just a month. And by suggesting America-its not that I am a victim of colonial mentality. Far from it. Its about the purchasing power of the average American and the advancement of the film industry there. Imagine a movie producer grossing 2 Billion with one movie in just one year and this not including dvds, cable etc. The main actor of such a movie can expect to be paid N20 million to N50 million + and even waka pass actors can hope to collect 50k. Our 'stars' will no longer have to be begging politicians! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1REsLe7gzHU |
Gracealone:Cost of doing business in Nigeria is far than most other countries in Africa. -Light wahala -Bribing Politicians -Extra security cause of criminals -Settling host communities despite paying taxes to government -Frequent change of government policies -so thats whats allowed today could be dis-allowed tomorrow like happened to Branson and Virgin Atlantic You can add to the list. |
OHDWISE:You DON'T support Jail term for rapists? Did you actually mean to type that? |
OREMUSSANCTUS:Bros Bros -coolu temper.... |
jared007:Tunde Idiagbon was not eliminated IN PRISON. He died in 1999-almost 10 years after he was released. Possibly eliminated by poisoning-but NOT IN PRISON. |
Bros-inasmuch as I get much of what you are saying and it seems right-please dont forget that: Idiagbon was not there when Buhari was Minister of Petroleum and ran the NNPC like a world class organization. Idiagbon was not there when Buhari was GOC 3rd Mechanized Division and showing true patriotism and bravery attacked and defeated the Chadian Army Idiagbon was not there when Buhari handled the PTF telling contractors: "If you do your job as agreed-you will get a handshake-if you abandon the contract and run with the money -you will get handcuffs". Buhari and Idiagbon were a team-neither was a pushover! |
dober:What is the full model number of your laptop? Bad charger maybe? I have one HP charger-works ok on my G60 -when I put it into my Compaq nx-the mouse starts misbehaving! Or system slowing down. A re-installation of windows and or upgrade of memory will always speed up your laptop. |
samkelos:Edited |
deji2009:Bros genuine OS is as cheap as $5 if you are buying re-install disk which has same features as the one from Microsoft. These re-install disks usually come with brand new Dell laptops. I got several like that. |
papiforreal:If the charge is up to 10%-then go to the website of the manufacturer like Dell.com or HP.com -type in the model number of the laptop like HP Pavilion dv4-then download the BIOS driver. To download and update BIOS-your battery must be at least 10% and must be on charger. That is one possible solution. Other issue could be that the battery has been "misused". Many laptop users misuse their batteries. Like charging it to 100% and leaving it unused for several weeks or constantly allowing it to go to zero and go off amongst other things. If battery is defective-you have to buy another one or if you know how-open up the battery and change the cells. |
A fire is currently raging at one of the tallest buildings in the world- The Torch in Dubai . The fire started about 5 hours ago on the 50th floor (other sources say it is the 50th floor) and is still raging. Any Nigerians living there -hope you are safe. "Security guards inside one of the world's tallest residential towers ran from apartment to apartment as fire alarms blared, calling for those inside to evacuate the building as part of it burned. Kathryn Dickie, who lives on the 13th floor of The Torch in Dubai, told ABC News that the fire alarms began going off about 2 a.m. local time Saturday. "The guards were pretty frantic," she said. Dickie said residents believed the fire began near the 51st floor of the 1,100-foot-tall tower. She ran to a friend's apartment nearby, where they watched firefighters battle the blaze. "You can actually see the flames being pushed out by the fire hoses," she said. From her friend's apartment, Dickie saw flaming debris fall to the ground and continue smoldering. She estimated that there were at least ten fire trucks outside the tower, where about 2,000 people live. Dickie, from Australia, said she has lived in Dubai for about one-and-a-half years, where she does business development for a law firm. Dickie posted a video about 4:20 a.m. local time showing the fire going out. The blaze appeared to be extinguished a few hours after it began, reports The Associated Press. It's unclear what caused the fire, but police on the scene had no immediate reports of deaths or injuries. Local media reports high winds caused the fire to spread rapidly. The tower was completed in 2011 and has 79 floors above ground. Dubai, the largest city in the United Arab Emirates, population 9.3 million, is home to the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa, which stands 2,716.5 feet tall and more than 160 stories, according to its website." endy4oxide:What really is the urge or need for a Nigerian to win a Grammy. The Grammys are good-but its an American award designed primarily for music produced and sold in America for Americans. They do have a section for International music-but those awards are not even given during the main night. To win a Grammy -like act of the year or best song or best artiste-means a Nigerian will have to produce a song designed for the American audience-that is a long shot. Lets develop our own music awards-I think its called PMAN awards? Lets make it credible enough that if we give an international act award-the winners will be proud to display it. The Nobel Prize for example is not an American product-yet it is the most prestigious award in the world today. The Nigerian music industry is big enough to do it. |
ogb5:Sir, not about asking anybody-I was alive and well too by God's Grace. I was not talking about public school-I said Private Secondary school HOSTEL-who pays school fees in public school in Nigeria and private school HAS NEVER BEEN FREE anywhere in the world. The point I was making is when you said people were starving and there was famine. You mentioned famine and compared Nigeria to 1984 Ethiopia -the worst case of famine in the whole world in the last 100 years. That is IMPOSSIBLE. Not in Nigeria-whether under Shagari or Buhari or Jonathan -there is not and has never been Famine in Nigeria and never will be by God's Grace. Who was starving under Buhari in Nigeria? Who sir? That is just not true. Who can you starve in Nigeria when if you throw corn on the ground along the Lagos -Benin Expressway-without even attending to it-corn will grow-talkless of my village where there is pawpaw, banana, growing freely. Even goats eat vegetable freely on the road side. An economy where the Naira was 80 kobo to 1 dollar was and is good to me. I am not one of those who will say that President Jonathan has done nothing-no way. He has made achievements and its left to voters to decide;but the period December 31st 1983 to August 27th 1985 was a glorious period in Nigeria's history-when one was proud to be a Nigerian. |
ogb5:Starving? Where? Food was a luxury? Starvation? Which Nigeria was that? Are you sure you were not living in Ethiopia in 1984? Because thats where food was a luxury in 1984. Bro tin milk was 20kobo. Newspapers were 15kobo. Peugoet 504 was N9000. The dollar was 75 kobo. My dad's gardner-Baba Alex (a Ghanaian) was earning N200 a month and lived in a 3 bedroom apartment. My brother's school fees at a private secondary school hostel was barely N50 per term. Are you sure you were living in Nigeria? Why do my people refuse to study History. This lack of history is really killing Nigeria. Very soon we will hear that Lawrence Anini was a Pastor and Dimka was a former President. Bisi Akande see what you caused by sacking all the history teachers when you were Governor! Ethiopia's famine was in 1984 NOT 1980. A simple google search will show you this. Nigeria HAS NEVER experienced famine. No one was starving in 1984 Nigeria. Haba. |
babyosisi:Madam-u are saying that before December 31st 1983-the Nigerian Police operated without corruption and harassment of citizens? Haba-a simple visit to any library in Nigeria or a request to any newspaper house to see old copies of their newspapers-or better still -ask any Nigerian at least 39 years old who lived in Nigeria before 1983 if the Police suddenly became corrupt in 1983? It seems you have never heard of Inspector General Adewusi of the 2nd Republic. The corruption in the police force like other areas of Nigerian life started way back in the 1st Republic and got worse after the civil war-when Gowon began to look the other way and allowed civil servants to do as they liked-something which Muritala briefly corrected for about 6 months-before Obasanjo started the old ways again in 1976. Although in those days-people still hid their loot and took bribes under the table. Now a days-even a civil servant on an annual salary of N500,000 openly displays his 10 million naira 'Jeep' spends N20 million re-burying his late grand father who died 20 years ago. Every single person detained under the Buhari government was detained under laws. No one disappeared No 'enemies' were assassinated People accused of crimes were told what crimes they were accussed of and allowed their day in court. Gani Fawehinmi-by all standards -the most outspoken critic of injustice in the history of Nigeria-took odds with the NBA at the time and openly supported Buhari. Buhari's Government is the ONLY government in the history of Nigeria that Gani Fawehinmi did not 'fight'. When it comes to law and order, justice and the rule of law-I would rather listen to Gani Fawehinmi. |
babyosisi:Bros-please get a copy of the 23rd edition of TheNews Magazine 1991 and see how Tai Solarin praised the Buhari administration that jailed him for 6 months. There was a law that Uncle Tai broke thats why he was jailed. He wasnt arrested and locked in a cell for no reason. He broke that law (although a law that could only work in a military government or during a state of emergency). I spoke with Dr Solarin many times and his quote concerning the Buhari government baffled me. He actually admired his jailors! This is not to support or root for the candidacy of Buhari -but to set the records straight. |
Seun:Why is it difficult to get the truth about Buhari's regime? Were there no human beings alive in Nigeria at that time? Even if one wasnt alive at that time or was too young-doesnt such a person have parents or friends much older? Why do I have to access the US Library of Congress to find out facts about my own country? Why do you have to resort to foreign media or any media to know how life was under his government? Just ask those who were alive at that time and there were at least 100 million people -the vast majority of whom are still alive today. The only people at that time who complained about his government were: Thieves Corrupt politicians and their relatives People who didnt like queuing up at banks and bus stops People who saw no reason for NOT littering the streets The vast majority of people I know admired his government and patriotism filled the air. Even many of those who had issues with him praised him. Tai Solarin was jailed for 6 months under decree 2-yet praised him -describing his government as "effectively ruthless" in effect one of the 2 only good governments Nigeria had had as at the time of his interview withe TheNews Magazine in 1991. But that was 30 years ago-I cannot say that those opposed to his candidacy today are in that category. Maybe the Buhari of 1985 is not the Buhari of 2015 or maybe he is. If it is the same Buhari of 1985 that is contesting today-then any sane Nigerian will vote for him. But if it is not-then I dont know. |
Please I need to know: Has Ribadu paid a visit yet to IBB like he paid to Edwin Clark? |
sorom4:I am assuming you finished secondary school and possibly did at least one year of University or Polytechnic -thus you must have a little understanding of logic and reasoning. For you to say I lied-means you have evidence of the truth. Which means you are either a family member of the lady in question or you have some records of such.Prove what I said is a lie-either with records from the Judiciary or newspaper clip or any other verifiable link or forever remain silent. Thats one big problem in Nigeria-a lack of basic knowledge of history. If I ask you now who was/is Mohameed Magoro or Emmanuel Ifeajuna or Babafemi Ogundipe-you will be looking like a looker and probably answer by saying " whats my business" or "wetin concern me". Yet I wasnt alive during the life of the second person mentioned nor was I alive when the third person was making history-and I was a child when the first person was making history of some sort. And its not that I am a magician-I simply read. R E A D. Being black shouldn't make us sense-less. A people without knowledge of their history-cannot make progress with their future as they will keep repeating the same mistakes. |
djon78:How are they sitting back? How are they being politically correct? By endless bombing of ISIS? By the killing of thousands of ISIS terrorists? By supporting the Kurds with arms and money to defeat ISIS in city after city? By placing a price on the heads of the leaders of ISIS? By risking thousands of American and NATO soldiers lives in Iraq to defend Iraq from ISIS? Your post is hard to understand. |
expert1000:Bros-thats a big lie. No woman was executed by firing squad under the Buhari/Regime. A 19 year old was sentenced to death for drug trafficking. Her sentence was commuted to jail term. Stop spreading lies and falsehood. If a law says death is the penalty for a crime-then dont commit the crime. |
Proximo73:Churches dont pay tax in America (USA). |
davien:Bro-have you ever read analysis of warfare in the old testament? Try and watch the Military Channel and see how its analysed. Knowledge is light. David's killing of Goliath was by strategy. An accurate sling shot to the right spot of the human body (especially an exposed path) resulted in instant death. Try taking such and see if you will live! |
May God protect our soldiers. But with all sincerity we need to retool and re-equip our military. We cant continue to use the same weapons used during the civil war and expect any country or terrorists to take us seriously. We have the resources and the means to crush Boko Haram in a month. See a picture of a 90 Matador" anti-tank rocket launcher displayed in Germany in 2005 and being examined by Alhaji Labaran from the Defence Ministry in 2005-- To his left is Rabiu Kwankwaso-Minister of Defence under Obasanjo in 2005. Why cant we deploy these and smash these evil terrorists. God bless Nigeria.

One of the greatest problems of Nigeria is that we are not taught history in schools. Every prep school student in the UK (age 8 to 12) can not only tell you all the Kings and Queens of England from William the Conqueror in 1066 to Queen Elizabeth the 2nd-but also the names of all the major players in English history-Oliver Cromwell who beheaded Charles the 1st in 1649, Prime Minister Chamberlain who was deceived by Hitler and any Grade school student in America can not only tell you all American Presidents-they know who General Marcathy was and why the USA entered world war 2. My neigbours 14 year old son here in Lagos does not know General Bissla was, has never heard of Colneal Dimka not Mamman Vatsa and does not know who Kaduna Nzeogwu was. He doesnt even know who the current Minister of Mines and Power is. This lack of history reveals itself when people dont even remember that the Naira was exchanging 80 kobo to a dollar in 1984 and was still strong until 1986 when IBB devalued the naira to please the IMF-thats when the Naira started exchanging for N10 to a dollar. Thats why I laughed when Governor Akande sacked all history teachers in Osun in 1999. And i was in Science class in secondary school. A people who dont know their past-can not prepare for the future. A people who dont know their history will continue to make the same mistakes over and over. |
Alleybuy:Bros e-do some research na. Dollar was 80 kobo in 1984. 1 billion naira was N800 million. |
Sad. Really sad. |
