Then why did wes banned the skool. Cos wes doesn't evaluate transcript from uniport.

Quick Answer: Uniport had some serious administrative issues - some fraudulent, others technical. The current VC made some radical changes and cleaned up the system. The ban by WES has been lifted. You can check WES's website for yourself.

What I see here is someone with an African mentality.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with paying bills, as long as everything works accurately.

You pay NEPA bills, yet no light.
You pay water bills, yet no water ( how possible sef, when no light)
Pay security taxes, yet Boko Haram everywhere.

If I get into government, preferably at the state level, in Nigeria, it must be turned around, into better still the African Singapore.

You're simply exhibiting a suffering and smiling attitude.

Seriously! You took the words right out of my mouth. Nigerians don't like paying bills yet we wonder why nothing works.

In Nigeria you can get favours done when you don't have any money. You can ask the taxi guy to reduce his fare based on you don't have too much. In obodo oyibo, taxi guy will point to the metre. I hope you know even with sporadic power supply not everyone pays their light bills in Nigeria, PHCN cuts the power in the afternoon, you go and reconnect them later during the day. Lol.

And i hope you know this refusal to pay light bills, a confusin power policy coupled the systematic rot in the power sector is why we don't have steady power?
Op, i can confidently assure you that over 60% of Nigerians do not pay light bill. Without funds, how do you expect the power companies to invest in infrastructure? Lets be realistic joor, the reason why we dont have any meaningful progress is that most nigerians want to eat their cake and have it still.

dechandel:
Taxi will not carry you for free in Obodo Oyibo?? And in which part of Nigeria do you see cab men doing that Charity work??
Nothing is free in Obodo Oyibo? Is anything free in Nigeria? Even the electricity that isn't free in Nigeria is a mess but in Obodo Oyibo what do you get? I guess you really dunno what 24/7 eletricity is though?

Loneliness? When you have your Job, school, trust me, your social life won't be in shambles!

Cost? I am sure you prefer paying your Light bills and yet you keep buying litres of petrol daily!! Talk about cost!!
Tax? If Nigeria wasn't ruled by greedy old mofos, trust me, you'd really be glad to catch a reality of what it is to live in a civilized world!!

Hi,
are you aware that what you just did shows you lack manners and have a poor sense of business?

You walk into a GRE thread and spam the top most contributors with your poorly constructed advertisement. Seriously, please take your empty barrels and go make some noise elsewhere.

With your poor manner of approach and non existent sense of decency, it is obvious your business is of very little academic value.

Bro calm down. I thought we already had this discussion? Why the worry? Relax. Worrying doesn't solve jack. Instead, focus on your desired outcome - getting an earlier date, and be positive about it. Please not that when you worry, you subconsciously attract unpleasant experiences into your life.

I was in a similar situation like yours. I was worried @ first, but after a member of this thread taught me how to reschedule, I lost my worry. It took me approximately 6hours to get an earlier date (when I logged in, I saw just one vacant slot for my choice! and quickly grabbed it). Goes to show that your state of mind plays a crucial role in the kind of experiences you encounter.

So Just keep calm, be positive and prayerful. Check the site regularl and I trust You will get a date.

I'm impressed with the guide and your scores on the test. You really aced it. I intend taking the test this august so as to apply for the fall admission opening by september or thereabout of this year, but I'm not prepared. Infact, I havnt started preparation and I think it's late already to start. The problem is I'm a corps member, and I really don't have that time to dedicate to preparing fr d test, considering my ppa. Please could you tell me the other months in which the test is being written aside Jan and Aug; I just want to hear from d horse's mouth. Any advice from you concerning my situation will be appreciated. Thank you.

Bro, i know you are busy but its all about priority management. If studying abroad is a priority to you, you will make time for it. Study your daily schedule and figure out how to cut out time for studies and applications. Trust me, you will find the time. It might not be much, but you will find the time.

Are you applying for Fall 2016? If thats the case, i think you should know you barely have enough time to prepare. You have to find schools, take the GRE and TOEFL, get letters of recommendations from professors or lecturers, apply for your transcript and source for funding. This will take some considerable amount of time to accomplish. So start now ASAP!

Lastly, let your mind by at ease for the GRE is written all year round. You can find dates for september and october. You just have to check the schedule.

Please find below sitting schedule for Lagos:

Okay here's how I prepped for the verbal part of the Gre.
First, I had to familiarize my self with Gre vocab. I know it's difficult learning a myriad of words and been quick to decipher their meaning in different context....you just have to learn them.

For learning words I started with MAGOOSH VOCAB App:it has like 1000 regular words it goes from easy to very hard words. I didn't use barron word list because they just too much.
I also made a habit of reading old copies of the economist and The New yorker online edition. I learnt new words (jotting) and it also helped with RCs.

Second the text completion and SE, when you are able to know the meaning of words but still there are other skills you have to learn. The GRE test writers are very cunny, you must be able to follow the story in their question: there are signposts yu must be able to notice in any sentence if yu want to score well in this part of the test.

I would advice you find were to use Magoosh videos for short lectures on SE &TC. Manhattan does not do well on this aspect.

Finally, the reading comprehension( I didn't do well on this aspect, when I checked my score report I failed most). OKAY here yu must be able to process data and quick. yu should be able to know the pithy of the story: follow the author's voice quite difficult but it's fun when yu can get that. Manhattan RC is very good... am not dat brilliant.

Please to pass the Gre try to get books published by Ets (examiners) there is ample amount of GRE like questions in these books.

Practice and Practice. My 1kobo

God bless you for sharing Boss. We are grateful. What about the Qunat section, how did you ace it?

I have not received my copies of either GRE, TOEFL or even WES. I guess maybe cos my area no dey map of Lagos.

You posted with NIPOST and had all of them delivered @ N350/copy!!!! Thats an amazing deal. Though i know someone who had his documents sent via NIPOST, and not a single one was delivered. I'd apply caution here. If you application deadline is close by, please use a COURIER service. It may be expensive but it will protect you from unwanted stories. However if your application deadline is still far off, you can go with NIPOST, you just have to monitor your delivery regularly cos NIPOST head dey shake @ times.

Thanks DanjaNinja.
Is there a way to see available dates without clicking on the reschedule appointment link?
When trying to view earlier dates using the reschedule appointment link, I got a msg that "you are approaching the maximum number of times you can visit this page, please complete your transaction this time". I just closed the page because i still couldnt find an earlier date and i dont want the system to log it that i've used my reschedule option. I learnt here that you have only one.

Broda, kindly ignore the system. The "you are approaching the maximum bla bla bla" na just initial gra gra. I got the same warning when checking for earlier dates. I think its just a security feature designed to prevent unauthorized access to the site. The idea is to check @ regular intervals..say every 3-4hours - not every minute.

And you don't have to be scared, checking for available dates does not use up your reschedule option. To reschedule, you must click on your preferred date & time slot then confirm your choice.

Hello guys, i just filled my DS-160 form and booked appointment. The earliest available date is Aug 11 and i chose it like that. However, I cant afford to do my interview on that date because it's too close to resumption,so i need to chose an earlier date. Please which of these options is more viable:
1) Using the expedited option (how does it work)
2) Staying up late to see if i can reschedule to an earlier date. (Someone mentioned on this thread that he/she was able to get a closer date by doing this)

PS...i didn't see any field asking for number of siblings or whatever. Though on my homepage, under family details, it listed 0 members.

The second option is better. You don't even have to stay up late. Just keep checking the site at regular intervals. You will most likely get an earlier date. You can start checking from 12 noon. I went with this route and i got an earlier date.

Centrix:
So Danjaninja has asked that I contribute to this thread. I wrote the GREs in January of this year, started preparing a few months prior to my test date.

Quant Section:
The Barron’s GRE book was everything and more. The author assumes you have little to no knowledge of the actual GRE test material so it introduces the test taker to basic principles of fundamental mathematics. I started off by taking the Practice test at the back of the book to identify my weak areas after which I read the entire math section paying close attention to my not-too-strong areas.

The next stage of my quant practice was downloading and taking the first practice test on the GRE powerprep software provided by ETS on its website. I scored a 160! Danjaninja may not agree with me on this, but I feel that how well you do on those powerprep tests reflects how you’d perform on the actual test give or take a mark or two. So you can imagine my excitement. Lol

Next, I downloaded Princeton Review’s “1014 practice questions”. I started off by taking the skills test at the beginning of the book. I got scared because I didn’t perform as well as I thought I would given my performance on the ETS powerprep tests. So I got practicing again. Solved as many questions as I could section by section. It didn’t matter whether I was comfortable with the topic I was spending time on, I simply did as much as I could.

Later, I moved on to Manhatan’s “ 5lb book of GRE Practice Problems”. At this point, I must mention that if you want to ace the quant section, you HAVE to solve as many practice problems as you possibly can. It boosts your confidence on test day.

Anyway, about two weeks to my test date, I took the second powerprep test. Scored a 162!.

NOTE: It’s always important you time yourself whenever you solve practice questions. Give yourself a minute and a half or two minutes max to solve each question. If you’re having difficulty solving any question, move on to the next. You can always come back later.

Actual Quant Score on test day: 161 (80th percentile)

Verbal:
The first step to acing the verbal section is expanding your vocabulary. Again, the Barron’s book comes in handy. There are hundreds of GRE- type words listed at the end of the verbal section. Learn (or memorize, which ever suits you best) as many as you can, paying special attention to those that frequently appear on the test.

After about a month of intensive cramming (lol), I took the first powerprep practice, scored an abysmal 153! lol

What I’ve learnt is that it’s not about the number of words you know, but how well you can use them in the right contexts. That’s where Manhattan’s “5lb book of GRE Practice Problems” comes in. You have enough Reading Comprehension and Sentence Completion questions to practice with and because Manhattan’s problems are a lot more difficult than any question you’d encounter on the actual test, it’s a good way to beef up your skills.

About two weeks to the actual test, I took the second ETS powerprep test and scored 159 which to be honest was good enough for me as my intended graduate program is more quant-based.

Actual Verbal Score on test day: 161 (87th percentile)

Total Score: 322

Essays:
To be honest, I never practiced writing essays not because I was confident about my essay writing abilities but because I simply had no time. This is where a good private secondary education comes in handy(lol..i kid). Anyway, a night before the test, I read a few Manhattan sample essays while trying to imagine possible topics.

If you’re drawing a blank on any topic on test day, just think of as many examples as you can on the topic and get writing. Anything is better than nothing!

Score: 4.5 (80th percentile)

I hope this helps someone out there. Feel free to contact me should you have any questions. Peace

Baba there are no words that can accurately express the depth of my gratitude to you for posting your experience on this thread. God bless you abundantly as you have shared with us. Thanks alot bro. Infact, take one Orijin
