Hi everyone. Please with regards to SEVIS FEE payment, which is faster? The Check/Money Order Option or The Western Union Option? Thanks all. |
happney65:Please lets be objective here and cut @bbdd some slack. He has some valid point that we all need to consider. While his response was a bit strongly worded, it is what it is - The truth. I know we all started somewhere and no one knows it all and no one ever will. Even the professionals on this thread were once complete novices who knew nothing. However the idea is that you need to at least make some effort to try figure out the basics on your own before asking questions. I fully acknowledge that in the process of learning, that no question is silly but there's a subtle difference - some questions show initiative and a strong desire to learn while others seemingly valid and logical, show complete lack of initiative and complete laziness on the part of the poster. For example the question "GRE and TOEFL, are they the same?" while seemingly valid, it also subtly shows that poster has made no single attempt on his/her own to try to understand the basics. We might argue that the poster is a complete novice and should not be scolded but common!!! lets be realistic here, while such questions are permissible they should not be acceptable. If you cannot at least google it up, how do you even pass the exam?. I mean, have you seen the verbal section of the GRE ? Does it look friendly? Who would bail you out? A better alternative would involve at least making an attempt by using google. Then if you still don't understand after using google, you are completely free to come on here and ask for clarification with emphasis stating that "although i checked the website, i still don't understand". That my friends shows that you have at least made an attempt and that makes all the difference. I run a thread on nairaland titled "How to achieve high scores on the GRE". In that thread, i shared my GRE experience and tips on what i feel could help anyone achieve high scores. As part of the post, i included detailed explanations of how one could obtain GRE and TOEFL ebooks by sending blank mails to selfstudy360@gmail.com and selfstudy.version2@gmail.com. Yet, would you believe that i receive countless mails from those who claim to have visited the thread asking me for instructions on how to get the GRE ebooks? I even got a mail from someone asking me "how to achieve high scores"!!!!!!!! Like wtf? Kill me already!!!! After my detailed and extensive post, you ask this? It begs the question, did you even read my post? If you did, why ask rhetorical questions? You think @bbdd is aggressive? Trust me, in life you will encounter situations where either you will not find anyone willing to help you or you will not find anyone with comparable expertise in solving your problem. In such situations, What do you do? Give up and cry or Roll up your sleeves and take the bull by the horn by using your initiative. TLDR (too long, didn't read): I agree with bbdd. Please before asking questions, do some basic research. You will get more positive responses to your inquiry if you indicate that you have put in some effort but still cannot make any progress. For most times, while your questions may seem utterly impossible, the answers are just one click away. |
Walspring:Thx bro. Will give it a try and post my experience. |
Hi House. Quick Question: Has anyone successfully paid for Visa Fees using the GTBank internet banking platform? |
DARKLIGHT:Used to stay in Lagos. I don't miss the lifestyle one bit. |
DARKLIGHT:Noted. Btw, you no dey sleep? ![]() |
obiaguna:Your welcome bro. It was the default pm you sent, I responded to your pm. Its up to you to send the actual message. |
DARKLIGHT:If you look closely, you will notice that the message states that "this IP has have been blocked. Please send an email to ********@craiglist.com to be unlocked". That email address is important. Send a mail to the given email address explaining your situation. Usually, you will be unblocked. |
NOTICE I receive a lot of emails regarding the GRE. I try my best to respond to every inquiry but lately, there are two inquiries that stand out and i find them very displeasing. They are (1) Please send me the GRE books. I find this inquiry highly displeasing for it indicates that you never read the first page of this thread. And if you did not read the first page of this thread, you have no right to ask questions. Simple. If you had read my very first post on the first page, you would found the portion where i clearly stated that if u need the GRE books, SEND A BLANK MAIL TO "selfstudy360@gmail.com" or "selfstudy.version2@gmail.com". However, if you did send the blank mails and yet did not receive any book, feel free to mail me. I would respond but henceforth any mail asking on how to get GRE e books would simply be ignored. (2) How to get a high score on the test. This particular one is unbelievable. The title of this thread is how to get high scores on the GRE. I wrote a detailed explanation on achieving high scores on the first page but still, i get mails asking me "how to get high scores"!!!!!!! Like the first inquiry, i will no longer respond to this inquiry. |
obiaguna:You welcome bro. |
cube2nerdy:@25% each: lol. Thats unnecessary. I think i need to update my recommendation since my perspective has evolved. Please send me a copy of the Manhattan GRE 8 Bks. I would like to take look. As for Grubber, you will find a section, i think at the end of the book, that highlights the must know questions on each section.. Very handy if you don't have all the time to read the entire book. Nova has the same feature too. 2 months: Fear not bro, for you, 2 months is sufficient for study purposes. Especially given that you have done quite some work. |
automophosis:The files are in pdf format. Do you have adobe acrobat reader in your system? |
I just wanna say a big shout to cube2nery and Tj18 . You guys are amazing. Keep up the good. If you guys have any challenges, pls send me a pm or quote me, I'll respond asap. As 4 me, just got my I-20, would be heading to the embassy for my VISA interview shortly. Where is SirRiddy sef? SirRiddy, if you are reading this, please send me your number. Would have called you but i no longer have your number cos I lost my phone. Hope ur good bro? |

automophosis:You can register yourself for the GRE. It cost $200 or its naira equivalent. If you want more information, this should help: http://www.ets.org/gre. However, If you have any difficulties with registration,I'd be glad to help. GRE materials & High score - Tj18's responded already. But I must add that I find the quality of inquiries on this thread very disappointing since most questions asked here have already been thoroughly answered on page one oF this thread. It begs the question, do people read @ all or just rush up here to ask questions without even reading the 1st page of the thread? Good center in ph - of the two, Showers High School @ Woji is way better. Its more spacious and more accommodating than Jeptha. |
cube2nerdy:Sorry 4d delay in my response, I've been very busy. Here's my take on your inquiry: 1st of all, I don't understand what you mean by "MGRE". Are you referring to Magoosh's GRE books? If yes, i have never seen the Magoosh GRE book. Can you please email me a copy so I can give u an assessment? (My email: cchubitunes@gmail.com" 2ndly, if you want to score above 160 on the Quant section of the GRE, am afraid that Grubber "alone" would not be sufficient. You will have to combine several books to properly equip you with the skills required to thrash the GRE. Please note that this is my own opinion. From my experience, Grubber's Quant questions are somewhat average. However, Grubber does provide some good test taking strategies. Thing is you can finish up Grubber's Quant section in very little time. I would advise you study the Quant test taking strategies thou, they will come in handy on the real exam. Nova on the otherhand has a comprehensive collection of quality questions - from easy to very hard. It's a rich collection of question that would test the limits of your understanding and expand your mind. I would gladly recommend Nova but you should be aware that the version of Nova that we all have is the 2008 edition - that's dated and quite ancient in the world of ETS since the test was redesigned in 2011. Nonetheless, Nova still remains relevant regardless of its age. Finally, to augument for the age of Nova, I would advise you complement it with Manhanttan's 5 lb practise book. Fortunately, you can easily combine both books since both book share a similar structure - chapters are structured by topics. For example, chap 1 - Fractions, Chap 2 - Number theory. You get the idea right? The idea is to combine both books to get a solid understanding and a comprehensive exposure to a wide array of questions and strategies. To accomplish this is easy, when reading about Number theory on Nova, you can easily take a look @ Manhattan's version of Number theory. That way, you have a good blend of perspective on a particular topic. In conclusion, the GRE is no joke. Its a deceptive exam - it looks easy but its quite challenging. To pass, you need adequate preparations and comprehensive exposure. To say that it would be easy would not be telling you the truth but trust me, you can make it. All you need is the aforementioned - adequate preparation and comprehensive exposure (by reading multiple books and solving a large array of quant questions). |

cube2nerdy:Please bear with me, am putting 2geda a response 2 ur inquiry. |
pennstate:God bless u 2. |
TJ18:Thx 4 responding to cube2nerdy's inquiry. Progress is made when individuals come together to help one another. However, its sad that 98% of those who have benefited from this thread have refused to give back. So sad. |
cube2nerdy:Ur case is highly unusual. Am glad u were able to contact ETS to fix your situation. Please do all you can to confirm that the new date is indeed valid. Call n send as much mails as you can till ur issue has been rectified. On a side note, hope you are well prepared for the GRE? If you need pointers, don't hesitate to post your inquires here. I'll do my best to respond on time. |
eatwell423:Hi, Uniport alumus here. Has WES responded to your inquiry? |
TJ18:you did good bro. keep it up. Quick question: have you written GRE? And what's your intended major? |
LeytonStark:Then enlighten me o wise one. |
cant wait for season 6. That would be the first time the tv series would be ahead of the books. Who knows what entails! |
Hi, am new here. Pretty interesting discussions you guys have on here. Keep it up. That said, who else cant wait to see the finale of this season? |
Has anyone written the GRE recently? Please come share your experience so we can learn from you. |
trendygirl:Done |
zenith4us:Done |
bamjay:Please send a blank mail to selfstudy.version2@gmail.com and selfstudy360@gmail.com. All the ebooks would be mailed to you. |
Walexwal:Hmmm....thats weird. Please check again. Or better still, check your groups on facebook. You would have been added. |
benjaminiyke:I don't agree with you. What really matters is your profile, how well you present yourself and the grace of God. I know countless people on this thread who have had their Visa's approved yet were not sponsored by their biological parents. I also know countless people on this thread whose "Dad" was the sponsor yet were denied visas. Like I previously said, its your profile that matters - did u take any standardized test? (+1) How well can u explain ur choice of school and course? (+1) Can u articulately explain your relationship with your sponsor, sponsor's source of income n reason sponsor is sponsoring you? (+1) That said, even with a well packaged profile, you could get denied (vo's could be funny @ times) but the odds are in your favour. This is where the grace of God comes in cos with prayers, all things are possible. Hope I have convinced u as well as allayed the fears of all those with non biological parents as sponsors that having a non sponsor does not in any way affect your chances of getting a visa? |

? Does it look friendly? Who would bail you out?
I already got the information I needed, wanted to know if one could apply for MPH direct without going through SOPHAS. My problem with SOPHAS is that they require WES and WES do not evaluate result from University of Port Harcourt. My school sued them in January and since then they have removed the notice on their portal. I sent them an email to verify if they now evaluate transcript from University of Port Harcourt.
