Celebrities / Re: Solution To Traffic In Lagos - Alibaba Shares 'perfect' Idea by dapyd1(m): 12:20pm On Jun 04, 2019
That would work until, like every other thing our goverment initiates,it is misused.

It will be seen as a revenue collection drive and the number of people who will lining up for review of CCTV for wrong infractions will be mind boggling.

That is if the CCTV lasts beyond 2 months. Either for lack of maintenance or by stealing.

Nevertheless, good idea, coz something has to be done to tame the madness we exhibit on the street, as it seems the educated people in cars are more mentally unstable than the illiterates on the streets that they always criticize.

He leaves or not, it is inconsequential.

Jimi has been pathetic for a politician in the last few decades. Nothing really to show for all these years.

While i agree that you can't win all the time as a politician, Jimi's case is a lesson in failure.

He never changes anything, always willing to ride on a Yoruba-Igbo divide that does not exist. He drives this divisive agenda more than any other contestant in Lagos; all the while pointing hands as Tinubu.

N.B. This post does not in anyway mean I support Tinubu or his godsons.

Health / Re: “Doctors Gave Me 48hrs To Live, But Look At Me Now” - Guy Survival Story by dapyd1(m): 10:12pm On Sep 09, 2017
While the doctors are only doing their jobs, it's important they see the psychological part of it.

I was on a sick bed with very low blood levels, the doctor told my mum quite sincerely (she's a nurse) that I have 2 days at most to live.

But he told me I was going to be okay, I just needed a little blood. Even though I ended up taking enough blood to stock a hospital blood bank, I pulled through.

The doctor's positive spirit was a big part of my treatment.

Delta state may have made a lot of things, progress is not really one of them.

After all your governors looted the funds to depletion, you are here talking about low oil prices.

If not for your daftness and greed, will you be complaining about that.

Dubai is an oil state(city) like yours, with even less natural resources, see what they've been able to do.

This should be a time for sober reflection. Look at the state of illiteracy and poverty.

How will a state like Delta be waiting for FG allocation before paying salaries. Shame. After all the billions collected all these years.

So, when they tell us this guys are suspected cultists, you guys commend them. They didn't tell us if they faced them with guns or not. They didn't tell us they were so sure there is no case of mistaken identity. Because they put cultists you take then at their word.

When the same security forces start harassing you and your loved ones. When they term one of your loved ones a cultist and gun them down. You will run to twitter and nairaland and be ranting and cursing.

Am I saying those guys are not cultists? Am I saying they didn't get what was coming to them? No.

All. I'm saying is that we've passed the era of security forces gunning people down everywhere.

I also do hope he doesn't go broke. Amen.

He has earned a lot over his career. Over 1 billion I believe. But he should be careful sha.

Many sportspeople go broke years after retiring. In fact, majority of them do due to mismanaged funds.

It's his money o, before you people come and tag me for bad Belle.

Let him just realise he has like 40-50 more years to go, and so many mouths to feed.

But then, it's not my business.

It's quite unfortunate.
Just 50k.

First, guys please if you are not financially buoyant enough, don't get married. And don't even dare have children.

What are they coming to the world to do? Suffer? Look at what this guy has taken his family through. Assuming he was successful in his suicide attempt, that will be double tragedy.

The economy is bad and people are suffering but it hasn't gotten to suicide levels.

As someone who has suffered from depression before, I know how it feels.

What brought me out is the thought that I was being selfish. People who commit suicide are selfish. Think of the pain those you leave behind will go through. The stigma. The perception of people that they are the ones that drive you to the point madness.

Don't do it. Don't be selfish. Your life is not yours alone to live. So many people are connected to you. And someone out there cares.

Just buy what you need. Don't pack unnecessary stuff.

Wow. Thank God she's smiling and looking cool. This is the kind of stuff that can give you nightmare for years. Even PTSD.

NIGERIA is unsafe because our security agencies have different mandates.

Police: Collect bribe, harass citizens and search their phone; ask you to pay before you can collect, arrest anyone who wears dreads, collect money for fuel before they come arrest your assailant.

Army: Transfer sambisa frustration to citizens. Harass and beat them anyhow. Very soon, it will be a crime to breathe while a soldier is passing.

Lastma: Let's not even go there. Bunch of thugs. Their modus operandi is to drag steering wheel with drivers until accident happens. Writing down plate number and calling the next checkpoint to stop the car is not in their dictionary.

Next time we will talk about FRSC, Customs, NSCDC and Peace Corps.

Congratulations. Go girls.

They'll get here now and have to start fighting for their dues. One pot bellied idiot will have embezzled half of it.

Minister of 'spended money' will be saying Nigeria doesn't have enough money for them, they shouldn't have gone in the first place.

Kudos to all these teams who put in their best despite knowing the sports federation ain't worth shit.

Maybe you'll be lucky and get 100k each. Some got less after getting bronze for us at Olympics. It took a Japanese billionaire to spare Nigeria's blushes.

You know your fellow female athletes, the 4*100 female relay team couldn't make it to London for the IAAF championships because of this same stupid government.

Just make sure you guys have your personal ticket for Spain (world championships) ready, coz if you rely on Nigeria, you are on a long thing.

Religion / Re: 4 Things You Probably Didn’t Know About Christianity And Sex by dapyd1(m): 10:33am On Aug 27, 2017
The marriages in the bible were traditional. The wedding at Cana was traditional. The old testament wedding g were traditional. The weddings in the new testament are traditional. Church weddings came in, as you said, less than 1000 years ago.

The other day I was saying that lady that got pregnant after traditional wedding and before church wedding was certified to. People came for me here on nairaland. The church refused to do wedding for her. Why?

Bible says, therefore, a man shall leave his father and mother. Which part of the wedding ceremonies do the parents permit you to leave and follow your spouse, TRADITIONAL.

The blessings Bible regards for marriage is your parents, not the priest. Church weddings is just an addition.

But then, people don't study the word with an open heart. We have carried doctrines above and beyond. Our hearts are rigid. Anyone that doesn't agree with us is saying nonsense.

As for me, I'll likely do church wedding because of my wife. But I'll recognise the traditional and court. And I can have sex after them. I believe God's hand is on the marriage already.

As far as I'm concerned also, any sexual act between couples is allowed. If me and my wife like, she can handcuff me to the bed.

Politics / Re: Mamman Daura Tried To Control Osinbajo When Buhari Travelled —junaid by dapyd1(m): 9:53am On Aug 27, 2017
Some of the things he said really made sense but I disagree with a few.

1. Osinbanjo did not under perform. He really tried. He held his own in shark waters. He maintained loyalty to his boss. He travelled round the country. The economy saw the greatest leap in the last two years (even though we are generally still in recession).

2. Buhari crossed the line with his speech. Threatening and bossing your citizens (and bosses) is not the way to go. He didn't even address some relevant issues eg ASUU strike

Many are roaming d streets unadmitted while some of those above 200 don't clear the 0level to be admitted.
As such, universities admit way below the number they should.
People should please and digest before displaying their ignorance

You are talking more out of sentiment. Mention one school that the students are not enough.

Every day, we are complaining that students are too many in schools. Our hostels are filled to the brim like Nigerian prisons. Students sit on the floor in lecture halls. Those at the back can't hear.

Lecturers complain that they have too many scripts to mark in a short time. And you are complaining about under admittance.

You and I both know that's a lie.

He said nigerian unis never fill their quota for the past 40yrs, he also said lecturers r being paid for teaching empty classrooms. Thats why we now have lecturers in payrolls of 6 or more unis collecting salaries cos their workload is less.

You are countering yourself. Lecturers will collect more workload because the students need more Lecturers. Students are too many, that's why Lecturers can teach in four, five schools.

If the classrooms are empty as he said, no lecturer will be able to teach in more than one school because there will be no extra student.

This man is not serious.

First, he insinuates that the 120 cut-off mark favours the poor. What kind of snobbish statement is that? Who told you that children of the poor cannot read?

Second, you say it's a ranking examination, but it has cut-off mark. How does a ranking exam have cut off mark? A ranking exam should just rank people, period. If you score 0-50,you are in this rank; 50-150 - this rank etc. Or am I the one who doesn't understanding ranking?
We all know UTME is a requirement to go to any higher institution. It is used in conjunction with SSCE. If it is just ranking, can anyone get into the university without UTME?

Third, no matter how you spin it. 120 is nonsense. That's freaking 30%. Common, that's an F. An indictment on our education sector.

Stop comparing what is not comparable.

Banks need, just like our telcos, need to upgrade their level of service.
They are all concerned about quantity. Quality is also, if not more, important.

The level of service to us is still poor. I admit it has improved over the years though.

From banking halls to atms, POS to Internet banking please upgrade your services.

USSD services are quite reliable though, at least for me.
Education / Re: Private schools in Rwanda close down as public schools become more attractive by dapyd1(m): 9:10am On Aug 27, 2017
Na so e suppose be.

Over here, we started with primary schools. Government totally abandoned them and private took over.

Then we moved to secondary schools, our government secondary schools look like shanties. Apart from a few with good principals and alumni and the Catholic run ones, we are left with leaking roofs, no seats, terrible, under qualified and unpaid teachers.

Now, it's the turn of universities. Politicians and government officials' children school abroad. They've reduced funding for public schools. Curriculum never gets updated. ASUU strike is getting more frequent as the years go by. Lectures' allowances aren't paid amd lecture halls are inadequate and unwholesome. The hostels are another matter, be looking like slaughter houses. I know cause I stayed in one for five years.

Very soon, if you want quality tertiary institution for your ward, you'll have to go private. Public universities will become redundant the way it is going.

Why not, because politicians, just like secondary schools, now own universities.
