Career › Re: The Myth Of Being A CEO by darfay: 1:56am On Aug 01, 2020 |
You as with millions of Nigerians are confusing entrepreneurs/ business owners with CEO. For you to be the Chief executive officer, they must be other executive officers who are in some way major stakeholders not necessarily shareholders. Infact CEO and entrepreneurs are not always mutually inclusive, most CEOs aren't even owners of the business eg MTN Nigeria An entrepreneur can still grow their businesses to become CEOs. Most young girls on IG selling makeup, slippers etc are always calling themselves CEO and I just LOL |

Thattallgirl: Expensive...can govt schools provide such infrastructures and facilities? No! How awesome would it be if they did. I like Germany and their free university education. Our curriculum needs to be renewed as well. We're still using old textbooks and curriculum of two decades ago. University education is even worse. Lecturer teaching students how to use MS Word Something that should be taught in primary or secondary school. In other words, God bless Nigeria Which stupid infrastructure? Those schools are effing Over priced as with every thing in Nigeria. They are just standard not even world class. |

ayenale1: That a wrong notion please, Ogun state is the most industrlize state in Nigeria and one of the most peaceful in Nigeria, the people of Ogun state are welcoming, accomodating, peaceful and hardworking, every state have their own challenges and that should not be used as weakness. Ogun is the most industrialized in what sense? You think factories and mega churches mean industrialization? Being industrialized entails having a series of industry certainly not limited to one. So when you say most industrialized does it mean the largest Financial industry, manufacturing, Tech, Health , Entertainment,Education, Manufacturing (this is what you should have said, ogun is the manufacturing hub of the country still debatable though) Lagos is by far the most industrialized state in this shit hole by a very good margin

Business › Re: What Is Your Worst Business Investment And How Much Did You Lose? by darfay: 3:14pm On Jul 26, 2020 |
Winneygirl: Thank you for this. I am a small business person myself, and have been in my business for about 2 and a half years. A lot of people get emotional about starting a business. They just calculate A - B= C. Voila!! This is not so. There's a lot of investment in terms of time, branding, logistics, advert and customer service and experience. There's also the battle of trend. A product that is selling highly today, tomorrow it is not even being looked at. You also have to know what is essential, what products are in high demand, do less of selling on credit. Sell value. Be careful about middlemen and proxies. They make most of the profit leaving you with peanuts. I'm still learning. I'm still growing.
One other thing small businesses do is ignore record keeping. Even if it is tom-tom you're selling, you need records. Simple expenses and income record. I have record of everything I have bought/sold since inception. I always know my Month-to-date position, Year-to-date position, Overall business performance. I know when I make profit in a month, or when I made more expenses than income. I know how much I pay for transport/courier. I know my marketing/advert costs. I have a dedicated account for business funds and I pay myself a percentage of my profit for the month. Any month I don't make profit, no payment. That is the reality of the business. To earn more, you sell more and watch your costs. I use an app to keep these records and I have it backed up.
My advise to most people is , start small and grow. You encounter smaller obstacles and you surmount them. You make smaller mistakes and learn from them, then apply the knowledge as you grow. You cannot start from the top. All the big businesses we envy today, didn't start where you met them. They grew! Please can you kindly tell me the app you used in managing your business? |

Isoko really did assimilate Igbo components. Igbide people are from Awka and Mgbidi in South East. So there is bound to be Igbo influence. Additionally, you live close to Igbo speaking Ukwuani/Ndokwa. I don't know for sure about your claims but languages do not exist in isolation |

you need to add voice note on how to prononce all these words. It's not really possible on nairaland. I want to believe you suspect it might be identical to that of igbos, remember ukwani(igboid) are a neighbouring tribe so sounding alike might be no coincidence as it might have been borrowed from either tribes. |

I followed the trend on Twitter and to be honest it doesn't make sense. How can a country's government be the biggest enemies of it's on people? I don't get how and why they won't small businesses dead in this country. Nigerians have accepted the fact this country would never get better and hence they are looking for ways to make ends meet on their own but the government would not have any of it. I wonder why they want people (youths) to engage in crimes especially as they (govt) have sworn a pact with the devil to frustrate Nigerians and Nigerian businesses. That's how they destroyed the likes of gokada. Nawa o, no wonder Nigerians Excel abroad at least there government aren't the enemy of it's own people
I like your analysis of this, kindly edit with NIPOST circular and a link and then call on mods so it can grace the front page. You can also post on other platforms like Twitter etc |

obadisa: It was during my 2nd year in a new school (ICHS Afromedia). I use to be very shy then.
Our English teacher (Mr Victor) was feared by almost all the students.
He gave us an assignment over the weekend to write a composition about (My Mother's kitchen). We stay in a rented face me and face you apartment back then, I did the assignment truthfully, leaving nothing behind. With the hope that he will read through the composition by himself.
On a cold Monday morning, towards the end of his class, He called me out to read my composition to the hearings of my class mates, God... I was dumbfounded and went out sluggishly, I was just repeating the words "My mother's kitchen" over and over again, rubbing my jaw that has no string of hair on it.
All thanks to the time keeper who rang the bell for end of class. My Alma Mata |
