malc619: While Nigerians are groaning in pain and hardship, the PDP-led Federal Govt continues in its shamess profligacy.

Goodluck Jonathan is but a shameless swine whose ineptitude, corruption and cluelessness stinks like a rotten corpse..

We will endlessly continue to lament and groan until we engage these crooks in a showdown. The extent to which the government of a nation will be corrupt, depends on the masses. The government only thrives on our perceived docility and division. No human government is omnipotent! The happenings in Nigeria are more than enough to stir uprisings in other climes, but here we ahve decided to thread the paths of timidation and fear. We decide how our nation stays, not the government....

Politics / Re: Governor Amaechi Buys $50 Million Bombardier Jet, Amid State’s Flood Disaster by Darius2000: 7:42pm On Oct 26, 2012
Nigerians arent yet ready to salvage themselves. When we are ready, we will deal with these idiots in power. I have long concluded that the degree to which the government of a nation can be debased and corrupt, depends on the attitudes of the masses. As long as we continue to walk in the paths of docility and mindless religiosity, we will continue to suffer and be treated like scums. Every human government requires the passive cooperation of the followers to exist. If the followers realise this delivering truth and are ready to refuse to cooperate with the government, it soon disintegrates. Lets quit blaming our rulers, and lets face the fact that our collective timidity and division have made it possible for our rulers to take us for a ride.

A ruler's power is ultimately dependent on support from the people he would rule. His moral authority, economic resources, transport system, government bureaucracy, army, and police-to name but a few immediate sources of his power-rest finally upon the cooperation and assistance of other people. If there is general conformity, the ruler is powerful.

But people do not always do what their rulers would like them to do. The factory manager recognizes this when he finds his workers leaving their jobs and machines, so that the production line ceases operation; or when he finds the workers persisting in doing something on the job which he has forbidden them to do. In many areas of social and political life comparable situations are commonplace. A man who has been a ruler and thought his power sure may discover that his subjects no longer believe he has any moral right to give them orders, that his laws are disobeyed, that the country's economy is paralyzed, that his soldiers and police are lax in carrying out repression or openly mutiny, and even that his bureaucracy no longer takes orders. When this happens, the man who has been ruler becomes simply another man, and his political power dissolves, just as the factory manager's power does when the workers no longer cooperate and obey. The equipment of his army may remain intact, his soldiers uninjured and very much alive, his cities unscathed, the factories and transport systems in full operational capacity, and the government buildings and offices unchanged. Yet because the human assistance which had created and supported his political power has been withdrawn, the former ruler finds that his political power has disintegrated.

The ball is in our court....

Ricky_Ross: I am not supporting the extravagant lifestyle of our governors, but the way some fools are trash talking Rivers State is alarming. Can you all mention the names of your respective states so we can compare with Rivers State? Outside of Lagos State, which other Nigerian city is as developed as Port Harcourt? Someone said he spent 2 weeks in Rivers state and enjoyed only few hours of electricity? Which village is that? Thats what you get when you live in the ghetto... My own part of PHC i have standard road networks and we enjoy minimum 18 hours of power daily, sometimes the electricity lasts 3 days non stop...

I live in PHC, but someone comes from outside the state, spends 2 weeks in Port Harcourt and automatically he now knows PHC more than everyone else.

I must admit, Amaechi did wonders during his first term, and he is very slow now, but he is far ahead of most of your state governors hands down. What Amaechi achieved in the educational sector no other state governor can achieve in 8 years. Primary and secondary schools in River state are far more advanced and more equipped than many of your state universities, this is no joke. All over Rivers state, he built state of the art health centers.

If you are wondering what Amaechi is doing now, then take a trip to the GREATER PORT HARCOURT CITY. Thats where I built my house and that's where all the mega projects are going on. The World class hospital, world class roads, the best stadium in Nigeria, the Rivers state university of science and technology etc are at advanced stages of construction. There are too numerous projects in the GPHC to mention here. You either pay a visit to confirm, or you Google it.

Rivers state does not need this private jet, I am not from Rivers, I am not singing anyone praises, but I say things the way they are. From the way people are talking shiit here a stranger will assume PHC is a kinda shit hole. They should start by telling us what their own state governors have done better than Amechi. Akpabio should build the kind of world class schools in rivers bc that is what the poor masses need, not some Tropicana resorts and 5 star hotels that are for the rich only.

Please, stop defending the indefensible. I hate it when pple display false patriotism....I also live in PH and I can categorically tell you that PH is a hell-hole. Governance, like pregnancy, doesnt hide, and pple identify it wherever they go. Amaechi is a massive failure.....all the roads in met in bad conditions back in 2008, have gone to worse in 2012...........

Ijaws have once again proved that they reason like drunken sailors. No wonder the man at Aso Rock makes public gaffes so often.
You're a classical m.o.r.o.n! Your generalisation is a s pathetic as you're. You think its every Izon person that approves of such the wrong move taken by the Izon rulers? Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Will You Join A Nationwide Protest Against The Unemployment Rate In Nigeria by Darius2000: 4:16pm On Oct 02, 2012
shymexx: To be honest, Nigerians are cowardly people, hence why the elites are so corrupt... Because they have no one to answer to... If the unemployment rate in the UK were as high as that of Nigeria, and there's no job seekers allowance - best believe the UK would be burning right now.... The same goes for all Western countries...

However, Nigerians are so used to failure, that most Nigerians have become failures... It's your right and if your government can't provide jobs, there's no point having a government... It's better to have anarchy than a useless, and utterly corrupt government...
Fellow Nigerian, thanks for that apt statement. For the singular fact that we want to get good governance on a platter of gold, means we dont deserve gold or good governance. Nigerians are probably the most self-preserving and timid people you ever will find on earth, and that explains the reason we're so unnecessarily religious. It will amount to folly for anyone to expect God to judge our 1 percent corrupt rulers, and absolve the 99 percent docile masses, who did absolutely nothing when their commonwealth was being pillaged and looted by their rulers. No government will be responsible if it knew it will never be questioned for its irresponsibility. There are many ills we can address with a few days of nonviolent protest, but alas! thes are nigerians who expect a celestial body to come down and address their myriads of problems. I am waiting when there will be nationwide protests against corruption. We will never get good governance without some sorts of sacrifice and discomfort.
Foreign Affairs / Re: Pakistani Minister Offers Bounty On Anti-Islam Filmmaker's Head by Darius2000: 6:25am On Sep 23, 2012
No wonder Karl Marx concluded that religion is the opium of the masses. I was shocked when only a few persons commented some days ago on a thread that stated how our Reps are threatening for additional N7m, but because this thread is a religious one, it has entered the 8th page and counting. As long as we continue to swim in the ocean thoughtless religious debate, the country knows no progress. Just see how we are expending our energies to defend religion! How many of us can spend such on moral principles? Ironically, we are only religious, not SPIRITUAL...its a pity.......

Nashville:

Trust me, the humble taxi driver is a huge minority to which I belong by the way. That's why I no longer live in 9ja. But on a more serious note, tell me how these guys can continue getting away with it. Is it because the people are illiterate? Is that Nigerians are poor? Is it that we are docile? Is it that we do not know our rights? I do not think so. It is because we honestly do not care and that is the sad truth. That is why these thieves can continue stealing, we do not hold them accountable for their actions.

Why should they earn soooo much (more than double Obama's salary and triple Cameron's salary), and they cannot pay another man =N=18,000. If only you know how much governors get paid per month on security vote, then you will know why the NASS guys want more. The political class are milking us dry, all of them. None is different, but then they know if a few people complain, they can easily bribe them and status quo continues. One day we Nigerians will deliver ourselves from our political class and then have a rethink of what life itself should be!
Bro, i have long concluded that, as long as continue to toe the paths of timidity and self-preservation, we dont deserve good governance. We will never get good governance on a platter of gold. Our rulers hold us in the highest contempt and derision because they know we are spineless, and will simply choose to 'pray' instead of registering our displeasure through voordinated acts of noncooperation and defiance. We will continue to agonise in poverty if we dont organise ourselves for a showdown with the enemies of our future and commonwealth. Summary: the degree to which the government of a state is corrupt, depends on the masses. No human government is omnipotent. They only thrive on the ignorance and fear of their followers. Period.

Bro, Nigerians are the most cowardly and docile humans you ever find on earth. Our foolishness and over-religiosity are cords that have continued to keep us in burden. Bro, the ectent to which the government of a ntaion is corrupt, depends on the masses. What d yuo expect from your lawmakers and leaders when they fully aware of the massesinability to suffocate and hold them responsible for their failures? Leaders only fluorish on the ignorance of their followers! Rulers powers are ultimately dependent on support from the pple they rule. Their moral authority, economic resources, transport system, government bureaucracy, army, and police etc rest upon the cooperation and assistance of the general populace. If there is general conformity, like it is in Nigeria, then the rulers are powerful. And if there is general noncooperation and defiance, the rulers powers disintegrate. No human government is omnipotent. They all thrive on the fears and ignorance of their followers....

Classicalman: This morning i noticed a great traffic along the Aba road on my way to work. I discovered that a section of the Airforce flyover bridge had collapsed, causing that section of Aba road to be blocked. This is so terrible. That bridge is less than 7yrs old. Peter Odili has killed us.
Fellow Nigerian, thats my main route whenever i go to Owerri or Airport. As a safety/ emergency officer, i knew it was a matter of time before that bridge will collapse. The gridlock from Aba road spilled onto other connecting roads. On my way from work, i saw scores of pple at various bus stops waiting in vain for buses. Some of the most ridiculous bridges in Nigeria abound here. You know what happens when Aba road is blocked in PH! I only pity Nigerians plying that road. There are other ones in the state that should be closed. Our rylers need to be fed to the crocodiles.

Thanks, bro. My marriage will be 3 yrs by late September, and have already learnt a whole lot of things. I have to devise my own formula for my marriage since none i have read from many so-called marriage books worked. My formula is love, patience and forbearance... I love my wife and my son, and will do everything to keep them happy. I just realised lately that i need to die to self and stupid ego more and more, and love my wife more than ever before. Even when God has given you a spouse, you can still destroy your home if you dont apply wisdom. Women are good people and it requires a lot of understanding to keep them beside you, especially when it has to do with marriage. We will marry dozens if we dont apply wisdom, and put some reins on our errant emotions of anger and pride.........My wife is the ONLY woman that can manage me..none other can...and i dont want her to regret her lifelong decision...Its my honour that she chose to spend the rest of her life with me....

You didnt include our corrupt and compromised judicial system. We are known for copying policies from other nations without actually sitting down first to understand such policies. If our rulers abuse democracy, is it state police they wont abuse? Nigeria isnt ripe for state police yet! State police cannot functional properly without an independent judiciary and rule of law.
