Carshopper: @darmilolah...
when you wanted to buy ur Honda civic and called my attention and assistance... what did I tell you upon seeing the civic?
Didn't I tell you that you will need to overhaul engine n transmission and what was your response ?
why didn't u say I helped u buy a DEAD civic?
Now you come here and say gazzuz helped Scot to buy a DEAD car... that is very wrong bruh...very wrong ...
Most Nigerian used purchases is always decided upon by the buyer after telling them every thing wrong with the car.. Most people always say 'I go manage am, till I get money to overhaul'
Las Las 2019 will reveal the hidden transactions that have been kept hidden On the low..... You helped me to negitiate and we got a good deal and I spent less than 300k to refurbish it. I took my car to Gazzus for review afterwards. I got a good review. The only thing Gazzuss said was he can hear a rattling sound from the engine and that I should not go above 100km. I went back to my mechanic. My mechanic set the taper valve and we change the adjuster shock absorber. This is the 17th months. Car still run on the platform. I have not change the engine and gear nor work on the AC except changing of relay. My civic cover average of 250km daily and I do over 100km on high way as against Oracle advice that I shouldn't go above 100km. What I have been saying is if you are charging 20k. Atleast, help your client negotiate. |

Nope... I stand to correct this because I was involved in the purchase process. Scot was told to overhaul Engine, transmission and AC (he didn't have d finance power)... Or Use/manage the car for say 1-2months and overhaul if finances isn't available... There are records to proof this. Please never say things u were not involved in the process or listen to only the one with the pains.
The Kia rio was negotiated about 780k by Scot due to the fact the transmission was noted to be 'slipping' and other works was due.[/quote]My Oga. You got to the party late. This matter had has been laid to rest. |

GAZZUZZ: he was aware of every defect, before payment. Ask questions before making a fool of your self. I asked all necessary questions my OGA. I asked the king and parliaments sef. Someone said is Gazzuss to be in the price negotiation process. I told him, Yes because he charged 20k for pre purchase inspection. If I inspect a car for someone. I will advice the person not to buy above xyz amount based on the condition of the car. If you didn't help your client to bargain. You will always get a blame. Your client truth your judgement that's why they didn't mind to pay the 20k. I am not attacking your person your business. Just stating what it's suppose to be. |

Your friends Bought bad cars. Gazzuss forget jare. With the pre purchase inspection you did for Scott. He still bought a dead car with no engine and gear at very expensive price. |

Certain vehicles are naturally predisposed to certain illnesses.
certain vehicles Do not age gracefully, (civic 06-10) is one of them.
Buying the right car in the right condition and maintaining it becomes imperative if you want to live long. I know of 3 drivers that bought a car in 2018. 2 bought toks. one bought Registered. As we speak, it's only the one that bought Registered matrix that visit workshop less. The muscle didn't even work in December because he got tired. The corolla has been withdrawn on the platform. What do you to say to that? |

I do tell people that rental is sweet than owning a car on the platform. But it always sound fooling.
On rental, if there is a major break down. You take the car to Lugard or his mechanic then you go home to take a rest whIle the Lugard and the mechanic go through the headache of fixing that car then they will car you to come pick the car.
As a driver partner driving your car on the platform. once you hear or notice anything about you car. You start having headache. Infact headache and fear. Headache of how to get to a safe location. When you get to safe location. How to get a mechanic to rescue you. When you get the mechanic. Headache of cost of repair and paying for Labour.
Unlike when you are on rental. All you need to do is call Lugard and his mechanic will come and get the car and you go home to rest.
If you are driving your car on the platform. You will go through headache of fund and stay under the sun with the mechanic to ensure he is doing the normal thing.
One of my Oga here gave his car out on HP over a year ago and got a car to drive on rental. I didn't see anything smart in that until several months later. |

GAZZUZZ: Last year partners invested heavily in very sharp tokumbor cars (corrolas, camry, Yaris, matrix), after a lot of disappointment, most of them sold off or converted to personal use.
Now you do not have as many Sharp cars on the market, a lot of rundown looking cars, and the reliable insurance companies have pulled out support for Ehailing because of the loss the encountered last year.
this thread is a small reflection of what is happening out there, between Dec an now, I know 5 driver owners who have parked their cars in search of rental.
It is not easy to maintain a car on lagos roads. It is expensive.
The rate at which cars are being pulled out and the rate at which they are coming in would cancel out, just that you will see a surge of dead cars on the road, only on weekends will you see a lot of Sharp looking cars. I am a heavy user of Uber and as long as the fares are this cheap, do not expect any miracles any time soon.
January has six weeks no matter who you are, so tight ya seatbelt. I will make the 6th car owner looking for rental. Someone said my car is dead. That's why i want to switch to rental. |

The market is in the incubator stage once again. I see a better 2919.
The battle of who win the market is still ongoing. More like Uber is ready to win this time by giving the driver partners what they want and also giving the rider what they want.
As for the injection of more cars. How I wish you know number of cars that leave the platform monthly. 80% of people you see at the inspection Center are old drivers switching partners.
This is 2019. Riders base is increasing. Just like some people can not do without danfo and brt. Riders are used to Uber/Taxify. It's now their pain. Though, riders now plan their trips. Some jump bus or brt half way then order uber/Taxify.
As a driver you need to do all you can not to loose your uber and Taxify account. Both have their good and bad side. No app is better than the other. Be loyal to your pocket. |

Enyinne: Frankly speaking this thread is losing its main reason of creating it .I follow other threads on nairaland and it's rare to see people abuse and throw insult like this uber forum does. People respect each other's opinion without insulting them . Poor communication is killing this thread thereby keeping reasonable people who might make a genuine input to stay off .Gradually I see with time, this thread will pack up as no one wants to express himself and get insulted for it .Experience is no more shared rather we share insult. Let's communicate better so New entrant in the business can hv a good start cos for me and my household we are on d fence . Happy New Year to all. My sister, this thread is a mirror of the drivers will have on the road now. Some that just left secondary school that Can drive are now doing uber. That was how one was dragging right of way with me on New Year eve and he was still insulting me even with rider behind him. The devil in me wanted me to drive behind him till he drop off and give him 3 slaps but I didn't want the devil to use me that new year eve. Before Ehailing became saturated like this. We have more matured drivers. Riders are free to engage the drive in conversation because of the maturity they see in them. Now we have all kinds of shepeteri and wobes. I met one in dolphin too with skuchies water bottles by the side. Those are the kids that come on Nairaland to insult people here. |

TheCar: If a driver works really hard to buy a car, that shows he his ambitious and have goals.
It happens to every human, we set ourself a goal and after achieving the goal, it only natural to cool down and relax.
For some they pick themselves up and start running again by setting another goal for themselves. Like buying a second car, so they inject some zeal and passion into the hustle.
The new goal gives them the motivation to wake up early and start hustling. Even lions don't hunt after eating, they rest for a week after eating before resuming for another hunt. Lion hunt at dusk and spend most of the day resting and sleeping.
Same thing happens to most people who have a car, since there is no pressure of meeting weekly rental, you feel relaxed.
Car maintenance also isn't moinmoin, something as car owners you spend a month earnings to repair your car.
Driver driving their own car on Uber with great discipline are trying. They deserve some accolades.
There is nothing wrong switching to work for another man, if you have another man work for you.
Many current car owners are currently working for another man while they use their car to earn some passive income.
I see nothing wrong in the decision and that doesn't make such decisions wrong or right.
Let learn to respect each other decision and choice. We are all running different race. You are wise jare |
