Politics › Governor Fayose Places Death-wish Advert On Buhari In Nigeria Newspaper(photo) by dasrackhor(op): 8:15pm On Jan 19, 2015 |
Nigerians woke up this morning to a provocative advert placed in major print newspapers across Nigeria by Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state practically wishing death on General Muhammad Buhari (rtd), the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).The advert which were placed on the front pages of Punch, the Guardian and several other national newspapers, titled “Nigerians Be Warned” started with a quote from the book of Deuteronomy in the bible talking about life and death.
Fayose then listed three former Nigerian head of states from the Northwestern part of Nigeria, who have died tragically and the placed Buhari at the end with a question mark placed over his photograph.
The advert followed several desperate efforts by operatives of President Jonathan to hang a prostrate cancer diagnosis on Buhari over the last few days. The group went as far as concocting a laboratory report claiming Buhari had been diagnosed with prostate cancer at the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital. The hospital later denied the existence of the laboratory report and its writer.
Also, Buhari personally addressed a press conference yesterday and denied visiting ABUTH in the last five years.

Aspireahead: Cross section of students at the event that was disrupted A religious clash was averted in the University of Calabar yesterday, as members of the Muslim Student’s Society of Nigeria, MSSN were holding their annual Muslim week celebration as part of the 2014/2015 academic session student’s week in Malabor square. The event which holds annually in the school is organized by the Muslim Student’s in the University campus and was on going as planned until one of the invited Islam cleric started making statements that the Christian students termed as ‘blasphemy’ and an insult on their religion. A student who didn’t give his name told our correspondent that the students got angry and drove away the Muslim students and the preacher after the Islamic cleric who was the guest lecturer referred to Jesus as a ‘bastard’. When the SUG President of UNICAL, Emmanuel Ajang, who was at the Obudu cattle ranch for another activity in the student’s week was contacted, he maintained that “Actually it was not part of the student’s week anyway; it is unfortunate it happened during our student’s week. In our students week the usual practice is an excursion to the ranch so I was not on campus when the incident happened, so we are all here at the ranch. “I was not on campus but I got the information but my reaction is that it is very unfortunate for a muslin cleric to come and start blasphemy Jesus on campus, I know we all have to freedom of worship but it is as much as we have that rights, our rights ends where another person’s right begins”. Continuing, he said, “I feel it was wrong for the Muslim cleric to make those blasphemous statements especially in an environment mostly crowded by Christians, however when I get back to Calabar I will get proper details of what happened and we will do a formal reaction”. http://crossriverwatch.com/2015/01/religious-crises-averted-in-unical-as-muslim-cleric-calls-jesus-bastard/ sheyb una Ơ̴̴͡.̮Ơ̴̴̴͡ nah...na jst cartoon dem use represent some1 for france n it leads to terror attack..Now a cleric is calling Jesus a bastard,Nuffin happened...If some1 call any of dere prophet bastard pogrom will surface...Christianity d religion of peace, humility n love... |

Alcatraz001: You see that the truth is out in the open? What kind of yoruba person won't understand that simple translation! Well,I know you are not yoruba so let's leave that at that.
I am not advocating for all yorubas to support Buhari, heck even a foremost tribalist and yoruba Nationalist, Olayinka Grandson is not supporting Buhari so what right would I have to force all Yorubas to support Buhari?
My main contention at this moment is to please implore all ibos on this board to stop creating threads that insult Buhari,Yorubas and Ibos because they are sowing the wind now but when they reap the whirlwind, they will scream genocide.
If everybody is observant, you will notice that all northerners are unusually quiet, even the muslim bodies are quiet even in the face of the charlie hebdo imbroglio that happened in france. Do you know why they are quiet? They have their own struggle coming up next month and the ibos are everywhere insulting buhari, yorubas, muslims and every other person not supporting Jonathan.
The gentility of a tiger is not COWARDICE.Please you people should be careful.Mr SEUN OSEWA and his mods have allowed this site to be used to spread hateful propaganda by the IBOS and am pleading with them to censor insultive and hateful threads aimed at insulting the Nation if we don't support Jonathan.I pity the ibos because they are the ones outside their ancestral land and they are also the most intolerant.
Posterity will judge me that I sounded a note of warning to these children of hate (ibos).

"Goodluck Jonathan A silent revolution is taking place in Lagos. Everyday, thousands of Lagosians are escaping the hustle and bustle of Lagos traffic by traversing the mainland in the new air condition Diesel Multiple Unit trains. These trains were introduced by my administration as a fore taste of our plan to develop an inter and intra city high speed train network for Lagos. The Federal Government has already signed a $1.5 Billion contract for the construction of the Lagos-Ibadan Express Train. This service, when complete, will make it possible to live in Ibadan and work in Lagos. This is progressing simultaneously with the $12 Billion Lagos-Calabar coastal rail project. This project is 1,402 kilometers long and will link Lagos to Calabar with stops at cities along the route. We have good plans for Lagos, plans that will ensure that Lagos continues to be the Center of Excellence and a pride to Nigeria. GEJ."

Christianity Etc › Re: Five Killed In Second Day Of Charlie Hebdo Protests In Niger by dasrackhor(m): 7:21am On Jan 18, 2015 |
mralabs: At least five people were killed on Saturday in protests in Niger against Charlie Hebdo's cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad, authorities said, bringing the death toll from two days of violence in the country to 10.
Police fired tear gas at crowds of stone-throwing Muslim youths who set fire to churches and looted shops in the capital Niamey after authorities banned a meeting called by local Islamic leaders. A police station was attacked and at least two police cars burned.
"They offended our Prophet Mohammad, that's what we didn't like," said Amadou Abdoul Ouahab, who took part in the demonstrations.
President Mahamadou Issoufou said all five of the dead were civilians, with four of them killed inside burned churches or bars. He said an enquiry would be opened and those responsible for organising the violence would be punished.
"Those who pillage religious sites and profane them, those who persecute and kill their Christian compatriots or foreigners who live on our soil, have understood nothing of Islam," he said in a televised address.
The president added, however, that he shared the disgust of Muslims who felt offended by the caricatures of the Prophet Mohammad and that freedom of expression should not mean liberty to insult religious beliefs.
Issoufou joined a march in Paris last weekend alongside French President Francois Hollande, in the wake of a gun attack that killed 12 people at the offices of satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo, which had angered many Muslims by printing cartoons of Mohammad in the past.
But Issoufou said on Saturday he had wanted to demonstrate his opposition to terrorism and not support for the newspaper itself.
Calm returned to the streets of Niamey on Saturday afternoon but a demonstration called for on Sunday by opposition groups could revive the tension. Authorities on Saturday banned the march but opposition leaders said they would proceed anyway.
Demonstrations were also reported in regional towns, including Maradi, 600 km (375 miles) east of Niamey, where two churches were burned. Another church and a residence of the foreign minister were burned in the eastern town of Goure.
Niger's 17 million people are almost all Muslims, though its government remains secular.
With the influence of moderate Sufi brotherhoods, Niger has avoided the armed Islamist uprisings that have shaken neighbouring Nigeria and Mali, but there have been growing protests by hardline Muslim associations over social issues.
The attack by two gunmen on Charlie Hebdo's offices in Paris sparked massive demand for the next issue of the weekly, which put an image of the Prophet on its front page to mark the bloodbath.
That again outraged many in the Muslim world, triggering violent demonstrations in Algeria, Niger and Pakistan on Friday.
French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius condemned the violence in Niger, a former French colony in West Africa where it stations troops as part of a regional counter-terrorism operation. "France expresses its solidarity with the authorities in Niger," he said.
Four Muslim preachers who had convened the meeting in Niamey were arrested, police sources said. The French embassy warned its citizens not to go out on the streets.
The death toll from Friday's clashes in Niger's second largest city of Zinder rose to five after emergency services discovered a burned body inside a Catholic Church.
Residents said churches were burned, Christian homes looted and the French cultural centre attacked. A police officer and three civilians had already been confirmed killed in the demonstrations, police sources said.
Peaceful marches took place after Friday prayers in the capitals of other West African countries, Mali, Senegal and Mauritania, and in Algeria in North Africa, all former French colonies. In Algiers, several police were injured in clashes with protesters.

Politics › Amaechi Bars Jonathan From Using State’s Stadium by dasrackhor(op): 11:40pm On Jan 17, 2015 |
The stage is set for another round of confrontation between Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi, and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the governor has refused the party the use of the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Igwurita-Ali for its presidential campaign.
The party applied for use of the stadium for its presidential campaign rally on January 28 but Amaechi refused to grant them the use of the facility on the grounds that the stadium is under construction.
But the PDP has countered that the governor was not being fair since his own party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has used the stadium twice for political rallies.
The PDP has already warned Amaechi to rescind his decision or be ready for a face-off.
Speaking at a meeting of political leaders in Rivers State with the state Commissioner of Police, Dan Bature, on Friday evening, the state Chairman of PDP, Felix Obuah, alleged that the governor had refused to approve the party’s application for the use of the stadium.
Decrying the governor’s action, Obuah said, “The facilities of Rivers State are owned by all of us; all tax-paying people. The Adokiye Amiesiemaka Stadium belongs to Rivers people; Rivers State money was used to build it. It was not meant for the Buhari campaign manager; it is not his personal property. They used it for their own rally and their own celebrations.
“We have applied to use the place for our rally, come 28th of this month. But the governor, in his act of impunity, has refused us the use of that place.”
He threatened that his party would defy the governor and use the facility with or without approval. |

walad4yhu: Kano - A group of supporters of President Goodluck Jonathan in Kano State have accused the Minister of Education, Ibrahim Shekarau and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Aminu Wali, of not embarking on vigorous campaigns in the state for the re- election bid of President Goodluck Jonathan, reports Premium Times.
The supporters under the aegis of Goodluck/Sambo Support Group, said the two ministers have failed to identify with programmes and rallies geared towards the re-election of Jonathan in the February 14 presidential election.
Abdulmumin Ya’u Musa, chairman of the group, lamented that that nothing is being done to boost the effort in the mobilisation drive for supporters for the re-election of the President.
He noted that no serious Jonathan campaign is ongoing on in Kano state, citing that posters, banners, billboards or branded vehicles cannot be found in strategic places in the state.

who is also the present Governor of Ogun State. This won’t be shocking to people who have been following Obasanjo’s statements in the last few months, as the one time president had earlier declared that he is just a PDP carrying card member.
Baba says Amosu has done too well for Ogun and everyone should come out to vote for him, refusing to campaign for PDP’s Ogun Governorship candidate. Former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, on Friday openly declared his support for the re-election of the state governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun.
Also on the same day, constitutional lawyer and human rights advocate, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN), said the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari, was not qualified to contest the February 14 presidential election.
The former president explained that in spite of being in a different political party with the governor, his choice of Amosun was based on merit and not that of any political party.
In a swift reaction to the support for Amosun, the Ogun State Chapter of the party called on its National Working Committee to sanction Obasanjo for anti-party activities.
Obasanjo who spoke in his Abeokuta Hiltop residence while receiving Igbo leaders from Ogun and Lagos States declared his intention to vote for the return of Amosun in next month general election despite being in the PDP.
Obasanjo said: “In 2011, we were not together; though we were together before and I campaigned against him. But, see what he has been able to do in the last three and half years in the state. I cannot sacrifice performance for party.”
Obasanjo subsequently sought the support of the South-east indigenes residents in Ogun State for Amosun in the February 28 governorship election.
Obasanjo added: “I never dream of having a bridge on dry land in Ogun State in my life time. Yes, we have Ogun River, where there is a bridge, but, on a dry land. Go to Ijebu, Sagamu and Ota. I am seeing bridges, not even one or two.
“This is a development that some of us in our 60s, 70s even 50s would have thought would be a mirage during our life time. Apart from this, it will bring development that future governments shall be major beneficiaries.
“So, my people, I am not talking about other elections. I have come to tell you that in order to appreciate what this personality has been able to do in the last three and half years, let us give him our votes.”
Obasanjo however emphasized that if the situation changes, after the governor must have been re-elected, he should be held responsible.
Meanwhile, the Ogun State PDP in a statement said: “We think the appropriate organs of the party (NWC) will have the courage to sanction him (Obasanjo) for anti-party activities.
“We in the Ogun State PDP are not surprised at his latest action but it really does not amount to much. For us, it means the beginning of APC’s failure. What did his endorsement of Tunji Olurin translate into in 2011 elections? |

Naijasinglegirl: I met a policeman on Monday. I had stood for over 10 minutes trying to cross the highway before an elderly policeman came to my rescue. He flagged down all incoming vehicles for me to cross safely. I thanked him and proceeded to walk away but he asked for my name & place of origin. When I told him, he came up with a fable of how his grandma's sister-in-law nephew is my uncle brother cousin. Typical Nigerian behaviour of tracing your family ancestry to theirs when they need your attention. *sigh*
Then he pointed at a bar and told me to sit out with my 'village person' briefly. I stuttered on how I needed to be home in 10 minutes and all he did was take one look at me and another at his cellotaped patched gun strut around his shoulders. Who wan die? I quietly followed him.
We sat by the window. He told me to order a drink and I timidly requested for pineapple fayrouz for fear that he might arrest me if I order a fancy champagne and ibo. For where? Then he told me some unfunny jokes and I had to let out a fake laughter for fear that he might shoot me if I don't find him funny. To sum up how miserable I was, his mode of communication was unadulterated pidgin. When he noticed I was twiddling with my straw nervously, he gave me that crafty, 'relax, the police is your friend' look.
"Baby girl as you never chop here, shebi you go follow me go house go cook soup for us?" "Sir I can't oh. I have a slight fever and I feel drowsy." I replied, flabbergasted at his request. "Drowsy drowsy...drowsy." He murmured repeatedly. "Na why you for drink stout instead of this yeye sugar water so the drowsy go just commot."
"What I mean is, I feel sleepy." I said. He walked briskly to the window and pointed towards the left. "You see that catholic church. You go go my house go sleep. E no far from here. Just waka straight, enter that compound opposite that catholic church, ask for chairman house. Na me be the area commander for this side." He looked me in the eyes and smirked. "As you don become my girl, nobody fit make trouble with you for this town." Na so! One hawker passed with a bucket of buns. "Egg roll dey pass oh!" He exclaimed. " You go chop am with your mineral?" "Thank you." I said sincerely. I couldn't laugh. Apparently, the only way I could break-up with my new romantic boyfriend was to play along. I told him to give me an hour so I could go over to my house, drop my bags and come over to his for a nap. His face lightened up. He brought out a hideous walkie talkie phone and told me to input my phone number. One of those Hollywood 'Jack Bauer, do you copy' alcatel gadgets. I took his, typed mined in his walkie talkie but replaced the last digit with 4. My apologies to the unlucky person. He produced a bunch of keys and twirled out a spare for me. "Panadol dey for table for sitting room if the fever still dey do you. Shebi you go wait till I come house? I go come meet you around that kind 6. " "6 ke? Ah Oga Police don't you have armed robbers to shoot? Don't you have roadblocks to mount?" Those where my thoughts but I didn't voice them out. I nodded in affirmation and left.
I'm still with his key. I have no intentions of ever passing his lane and I'm lucky where I live is quite a distance. Here is to hoping I don't find my photo in one of those wanted posters. If that is how local a relationship with a man in uniform is, abeg abeg abeg I no want. The uniform man truely lost(love) u frm d bottom of his heart oooooo...Y ukon carry he key run nah?Maka Y? |
