I believe he will come good. Our players need challenge and not complacency. They enjoyed free pass all through Gernot Rorh's reign.
Once you know your seat in the team is being challenged , you will sit tight
Sadly no time. He enjoyed under Rohr. But seems he's forgotten how to attack or teamplay. Wouldn't be surprised if he becomes number 3

Sorry, but the philosophy behind U17 is NOT to have repetitions... U17 is supposed to be developmental, which means you do a stint and move on to the next level.
Both Etim and Afolabi have NO business playing again for U17. That so called 'experience' is a misnomer and has actually stifled growth and development for others who would otherwise have been in the frame.
To me, its a silly justification of the inept approach and a convenient excuse for the incompetence of Nigerian coaches.
I mean, what 'experience' is a '17 year old' supposed to have? Seriously?
The overlords behind this are most likely the same one that wanted Captain to continue to waste bench space in Falcons. Cos it truly does not make any iota of sense and is even bad for the players themselves imo.

I tell you. Player go stud you and ref no go bother blow even if you wan die or cry after the tackle. Many ballers today can never survive that era. The peak of which was the 2006 world cup. A convergence of different football Emperors from different leagues, without fear or too much respect, unlike now.

The difference between quality outstanding top players and good is one main word CONSISTENCY.

The ability to perform at high level week in week out over the course of several seasons.

When you don't you get dropped.

What you see is players from backwater leagues playing at the very best they can or have ever had. But to do it with CONSISTENCY that's the problem.

South Africa will get beaten by Nigeria comprehensively.
Fact!!

Although factors such as competition or preference by a particular manager takes hold as well, not matter the consistency. We see Managers like Mourinho and Emery do this regularly. I think there was a player that even said if Mou drops you, it's not because you're not good enough or consistent. It's just his thinking.

That one dey to.

We'll probably see a 4-1 like we did Mali in 2013. We didn't even expect that scoreline, but it happened. South African tricks like Angola? I don't see. Only that freekick Mokoena. Dazall.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by daveP(m): 11:43am On Feb 07, 2024
Quality players can be in a backwater league. We seem to forget that a player's career is like a ladder to the top with stairwells and shortcuts and an elevator nearby. The bottomline is some are too good for the league they're in but can't attract bigger interests because what they do may be basic or no different. Some take a league by storm and get a chance at the elevator but will be smart to use the stairwell(Orban for example)

Some will be stagnant in backwater riding on old glory and won't mind moving.

Some will get their lucky break close to the end of their prime and still use Elevator.

Some are good enough to fill up quota. Some just chase the bag mainly.

Backwater leagues can contain excellent ballers but for time

Great leagues can contain prime otu and nonsense ballers despite exposure to all that technicality and sound managers.

This thing is not 2+2 always. I see it as norms and exceptions.

The main thing is just prove yourself consistently till your signature is craved by more than 1 teams at the top of ladder, stairwell or elevator. Else, na OYO.

This Obagoal argument sef.🤣🤣🤣🤣

Let's not forget that the officiating got better o. E get the kine size your thighs gats be if you want ball against their Gattuso and co that year. But many tackles that didn't warrant a whistle are currently red cards today. And let's not forget most of these tackles were on forwards as well.

The times are different o. Especially that serie A wey be like some Cartel football business that year.

Their coach tried it numerous times but someone is always there to cover. Paserio is not a fool!
When Iwobi was tired cos of the overload he brought on Alhassan and Osimhen almost scored from his pre- pass!
It was a tactical master class from the two portugese!

This is the reason I don't take Nigeria sport journo serious.

Their lack of analytical mind is simply mind-blowing.

I remember calling out that Elegbete guy on Charles Anazodo X/tweeter space and the need for math to be a compulsory subject for journalism in Nigeria Universities. Charles said I was undermining them.
A key aspect of game theory and data analysis. No mind them.🤣

They forget this is why the job of video analyst is now a core sector of coaching crews nowadays. Those guys can use data and analyze great teams and how to hack them in minutes. They need to step up. Or na to tag them old school and let the younger ones take over.

Imagine having this setup for NPFL😆😁😁😁

This guy is such an analyst. Jamie Carragher can never!!!

He's broken down two major things i overlooked so far in this tournament. No Nigerian analyst fit do this one. Maybe Bolarinwa or Kiiibati sha. But i no dey see dem lately. SuperNerd go soon take over🤣

The ish is which team wants to exploit that Iwobi aspect now? That means we need to give the Angolan coach his flowers. If he had better technical players, they'll have done it more than twice.

Is Onyedika related to Ifeanyi Onyedika of 1980 AFCON?

Personally nobody from the 80s afcon set should be running our football again. Not cos they aren't good, but time don change. Especially the game itself. Some wan turn Del Bosque with national jobs even when it is obvious there are more qualified candidates.
