Hmmmm. I hope this doesn't turn out fake like that TourismMan's thread. |
Why would somebody expend ₦18.8bn to buy a single car? Money that could comfortably buy at least 2 private jets! Pursuit of vanity and a chasing after the wind. It lives you emptier again and again. |
Frayokit:LOL. OP, you're simply not serious to practice independent blogging and news-story ![]() Unless you're one of the propaganda wings of the opposition, you've no reason to show bias towards the APC by calling them economy destroyers and deserts. All these quack bloggers sef. |
There's no single organisation that has ever refused to be politicised, MACBAN, the terrorist one included. They were the ones whom PDP invited to Aso Rock in 2015 to endorse GEJ few weeks to the election. The gullibility of Jonathan. ![]() I blame the media houses that give this terrorist group opportunity to threaten people, even though it's very possible this one was scripted to again whip up sympathy for Saraki. God forbid, but if this man should accidentally become a president, he'd rule as an Idi Amin, Hitler, Pol Pot - all in one - but he shall surely be a prison ruler in no distant future. ![]() |
South Africa’s Upper House of Parliament, the National Council of Provinces (NCP), on Tuesday approved the controversial National Minimum Wage (NMW) Bill which will be sent to President Cyril Ramaphosa for assent. The Parliament said the NCP approved the bill without amendment. The bill, which Minister of Labour, Mildred Oliphant, introduced in November 2017, aims to provide for a NMW and the establishment of a commission with clear functions and composition for implementation, Parliament spokesperson Moloto Mothapo said. The National Assembly (Lower House of Parliament) had earlier approved the bill and referred it to the NCP. Once signed by Mr Ramaphosa, the bill will become law. The bill sets 3,500 rand (about 243 U.S. dollars) per month or 20 rand (about 1.4 dollars) per hour for over six million working people in the country. Trade unions have lambasted the NMW as “slavery wage,” saying the working class cannot make both ends meet with the meagre NMW. In May, massive protests against the bill took place across the country. Trade unions have threatened to stage more protests if the NMW wage is not raised to a living wage. https://ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/640/cpsprodpb/115A2/production/_87247017_87246802.jpg The government says setting the NMW was informed by research and robust analysis of various scenarios and their possible ramifications, not by some idealistic desires. All social partners have worked hard for nearly three years to reach agreement on the NMW to improve the conditions of millions of poor families, according to the government. https://www.sunnewsonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Cyril-Ramaphosa-Saved-By-Makandiwa-300x200.jpg Mr Ramaphosa has pledged to increase the NMW over time in a way that meaningfully reduces poverty and inequality. https://www.premiumtimesng.com/foreign/africa/280954-south-africas-parliament-approves-minimum-wage-bill.html |
And Saraki has been on dexterity streak by escaping all of these since 2015. This in part shows how our judiciary have been compromised even to the Supreme Court who earlier told him to go face his trial at the CCT only to make an about-face turn about 2 years after. |
There were a lot of underground politics behind this governor's action. And to think that he gave this man's wife assurance the building would not be demolished, only for him to okay its demolition less than a day after shows how much of wickedness he really nursed against this man. It's a common knowledge that demolition of properties by state governors have been turned into tools of witch-hunt of political rivals. We saw that play out in Kaduna and a few other states I can't recall now. |
jiggaz:How did you know those who were "attacking" you then are now saved? Number 2, how biblical is it to say that we're forever righteous in God's sight? You mean if a born again Christian decides to start worshipping the devil, he's still forever righteous? Or a believer who turned armed robber is still forever righteous? Please, is this what you are saying? |
Can Buhari do this? No! Aside the fact that he doesn't have that sort of initiative, his health is another factor that potentially hinders him from being up and running. Here we have a cerebral VP who visits technology hubs to interact with young innovators, market men and women, scenes of herdsmen attacks and speaking directly with the affected people, and now this. Saying that this man knows what it means to be presidential is an understatement. |
I just have this feeling that Akpabio will not last in APC. The PDP-style of sharing money to console , hearten aggrieved members is not being employed by the APC yet, making APC largely better than PDP, for now. |
EsotericMonk:That was why I ended my comment by saying it's a complex issue. Femi and Garba cases are different. Their job is to defend their employer and they most times do that with their own understanding and what they think would appeal to Nigerians. But DSS spokesman only gives press conference and read out what the ogas at the top have told her to. She doesn't have her own input. |
Though I always detested the reign of Daura while he held sway over DSS, I see the wisdom in his decision not to appoint a spokesman. We saw how Marylin Ogah who was the spokesperson during the previous regime was made a subject of laugh and ridicule due to the propaganda her boss were giving her to give Nigerians. In fact, surprisingly I'd believed that Marilyn was DSS DG unknown to me she was simply a mouthpiece, and most likely had no say over whatever happens there. The woman became a scapegoat who bore all the insults and condemnation. That hasn't happened so far since 2015. It's complicated sha ![]() |
Sadly this is a reflection of the state of the whole country. How come we have so many eggheads and very highly intelligent people as Nigerians but we never see the use of such intellect in the management and running of agencies, starting and completing of great infrastructural projects, etc? The answer is corruption. When the people that are in charge have vowed never to allow for continuous release of funds for the project until they are assured they'll get a kickback from it, this is what you get. In the previous government, we had most likely the highest number of contract awards, but very little implementation, because a bulk of the monies were shared among the people who were supposed to carry it out. Such perfidy. In countries of law and order, collecting a bribe from a contractor (we're not even taking about taking a single dollar from government purse) will land you in jail after a speedy trial. But here, people embezzle our commonwealth, then use our ineffective judiciary to play ludo, after having bribed them in the secret. |
One of the legacies of the Lawal Daura DSS. The man was so lawless that he never thought anyone could question his actions. He wasn't even answerable to Buhari, but Jehovah God that answers prayer has weeded him out. |
NothingDoMe:Those same people are also on Nairaland,, just as they're on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. Nairaland even seem to have more reach because it gathers news stories from those other platforms. And by the way, it's also to sample people's opinions, because some might feel it's not unlawful and even back it up with the law. Who knows. |
Direct primary is the best way to select candidates. At least all party members will be able to have a say on who represents them at the general polls rather than having less than a 1,000 party officials do that after having been bribed in the private. In the US (we dey follow am for news ), aspirants campaign for their primary election as if they were campaigning for the main election. For the presidential, all the aspirants have to contest each state's votes individually, not the way PDP and APC chatter them to Abuja and aspirants thereafter visit their hotels with wads of dollars. The recent APC trial in Osun was very successful; wish it can go into our laws that all primaries should henceforth take that form. |
I never took that thread seriously. In fact I was actually disappointed that a mod took that kind of "evidenceless" story to front page. Daily Independent, LeadersNG, etc seem to be executing hatchet job for PDP, using fake news. What concerns Saudi Arabia with our domestic policies - at least we're not in the Middle East. Even for the other countries mentioned, Independent never cared to give any concrete lie to back up their lie. ![]() |
dukie25:Let me school you a little. That writeup above is a satire. Saraki began by throwing a punch at OBJ accusing him of using State funds to build his library only for OBJ to begin his own punches too by satirically listing all of Saraki's sins. Please don't quote back to spew nonsense because I know you. |
If the woman wrote the above, then she must be intelligent, even though I do not agree with her choice of words sometimes. |
I'm not concerned about the possibility of INEC chairman being arrested. The most important question is why the man has refused to honour the invitation of the court. We are talking of a federal court here, not a state high court. This is terrible. |
Lol. Story story! Daura conspired with Saraki and Ekweremadu to play that drama we watched that day! How's that hard to understand by discerning mind? This is most likely a writeup to whitewash Saraki and present him as unawares of what he scripted. It'll not fly. The duo have always been friends - friendship in crime. MODIFIED: Chai! Look at the bunch of ignorant folks quoting me. Saraki and Lawal have always been best of friends; at least they came to know each other during the presidential campaign when Lawal was one of the heads of the security team of Buhari's campaign. Since 2015, Sahara Reporters have been reporting how Lawal has been covering for Bukola. With facts, not conjectures. |
Saraki outsmarted APC to becoming the Senate President. 95% of APC senators were in a conference hall for a meeting while PDP senators were electing him, fraudulently,as Adams pointed out here. APC should also use a similar trick on him and boot him out quickly, because as it stands now it's a shame and a travesty for the minority to be holding positions of president and deputy president of the Senate. |
Don't commit suicide. You'll have caused a lot of sorrow to your family and also thrown yourself into Hell. Yes, there's a hell, and no situation here on earth no matter how awful, can be compared to it. So brace up and tell yourself that you'll smile after this temporary tunnel. Many ladies have faced this same situation and now when they look at their 19 year old undergraduate son or daughter who was a product of that relationship, the least they can utter is 'Thank God I didn't abort you or kill myself'. PS: Though not naturally easy, abstinence till marriage is still the best key to avoiding such situations as this. |
They did not receive any intelligence report this time around like Daura used to furnish them with. They know this is the normal route the government should follow and so they're trying to pre-empt the FG. Simple logic. |
It's a slap on the faces of APC and their strategists if they have any, for Saraki to continue outsmarting them one after the other. Let's assume the former DSS boss who was supposed to be the spy chief to Buhari was actually one to Saraki, but now that he has been shown the exit, can we begin to see his games crumbling one after another? Only few people know that Saraki been able to escape all the crime hurdles since 2015 was mostly because of the clandestine support by the DSS in feeding him classical information. |
That's true. Buhari has performed bad on many indices like his indifference to herdsmen killings (and failing to visit the affected states immediately it happens), failing to take charge of his government and allowing cabal to run amok (not being smart enough), sectional appointments (especially in the defence), etc. But the truth is that he has set a bar that any incoming president (from 2023 upwards, the way it's going now ) will have to be under pressure to beat, in terms of non-interference on government institutions, personal integrity (yes, Buhari has a doze of it) and fight against corruption. |
Very good. When I saw the hype on Nairaland about the song, I decided to temporarily download it to see the message it was really trying to pass across, only for me to see that it's nonsense. The main line "Everybody bi criminal" is very inappropriate, and the guy deciding to appear bare-chested is also indecent. He could have appeared that way in other releases without it being tagged wrong, but he should have lived up to his "message" in that song, by being dressed properly. ![]() omakay:I'm never a fan of Fela's music or lifestyle. |
Immediately I read the third to the last tweet where he said Saraki invited the Supreme Court justices for a tea, I knew it has got to be a joke. A fine literary write-up from Gimba. He always writes masterfully. I'm still not sure most of the people who commented above read the last tweet to know it was a fiction. Lazy Nigerian youths, that's. ![]() |
Sincerely speaking anytime I hear about this kind of crime, I no longer worry, knowing that it's just a matter of time before they're fished out. If hardcore, doctoral and professoral armed robbers like Saraki's thugs, "Evans the billionaire kidnapper" and others could be trailed and traced to their hideouts by the police intelligence team, this one is a minor issue. His arrest will grace the front page soon. Our Police are bullies, but they're good in cases like this. |
This man's lies, fabrications, exaggerations and propaganda - know no boundaries. The way he dishes out fake news |
Lalasticlala, can we get more views about this? |
