Culled from Learner's Dictionary Question Is "headache" a count noun? Answer Question Is headache a countable noun? How about toothache? Andstomachache? – Limuzi, China Answer A count noun (or "countable noun" is a noun that can be counted, can be plural, and can be used with both singular and plural nouns.Headache, toothache, andstomachache are all count nouns because they meet those three criteria, as shown in the examples below. If you keep complaining ofstomachaches, I’m going to take you to the doctor. (stomachaches is plural)I feel fine today, but I had twobad headaches this week. (two + headaches)Toothaches are more common in this population. (toothaches + plural verb) These “ache words” are more commonly used in their singular form, probably because people have only one ache at a time, but what matters is that these words do have a plural form and can be used with a plural verb. Peace be with you. |
waxyung:Now that sounds funny but actually correct... Sorry, I meant, 'is money countable' up there not uncountable; modified already. |
waxyung:Yes, it is friend: grammatically or semantically. Is money countable? No, not grammatically; you can have 2 naira NOT 2 monies. Peace be with you. |
blackpanthar:Right, the story of the prodigal son is a part of the true gospel; however, let's not forget that if he keeps looking back, he would never be fit for God's kingdom either. Luke 9:62 KJV And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God. |
blackpanthar: MuttleyLaff:Well, while it's true that there are a lot of differences between the old (Moses) and new covenant (Jesus), yet God's standard Remains the same: particularly when it comes to Sin or Disobedience. Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. *He told people to go and Sin no more, otherwise worse things would happen to them. *He says if we do not bear fruit, we get cut off and burned. John 15:6 *Paul said, he would certainly be cast way if he wouldn't discipline or control himself after preaching the gospel. *David-- the Psalmist said, 'if I regard sin in my heart the Lord won't hear me'. The Father will reject us if we walk in darkness, and refuse to Repent. 2 Cor. 6:16 1 John 1:6 KJV If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: Hebrews 10:26-27 KJV For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, [27] But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. May Jesus Bless You |
Isaiah 59:1-2 KJV Behold, the Lord's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: [2] But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear. |
English can be rather tricky sometimes, particularly for nonnative speakers all over the world. Moreover, it is even quite common for native speakers from countries such as USA, England, New Zealand, Australia and so on, to make major or minor errors sometimes in both spoken and written English too. One major key is to understand the rules of using different words of vocabulary and grammar structure in general; to make our expressions just right. Many of us may not necessarily need to start reading grammar books or listening to audios due to the lack of time and other personal reasons to do that. However, if your studies or work demands a reasonable level of mastery of the English language (both written and spoken), then I suppose it won't be a bad idea to slug it out with few materials that can help smoothen it out. I quite need that personally as an educationist, and above all, as a christian, I do witness for Jesus every now and then. Right, without further ado, let's take a quick look at some common errors in English: 1. a) He has headache. WRONG b) He has a headache. RIGHT *Headache is countable; it's 'a pain' in ones head, and it's also used to describe 'a big trouble'. 2. a) I am one of the staffs here. WRONG b) I am one of the members of staff here. RIGHT c) I am one of the staff here. RIGHT *Staff, like army, personnel, committee is a group of people: does not refer to one person, and should not have an 's' at the end. Hence, it's wrong to say staffs or personnels, etcetera. 3. a) The exercise has just finished 'all together'. WRONG It should be 'altogether'. Altogether means completely or finished completely, whereas, 'all together' means everything or everyone. Example sentences: 1. Are you all together? (With each other as friends or company) RIGHT 2. Put them all together. RIGHT 3. The system is dead altogether. RIGHT 4. a) Should in case you see him, please tell him. WRONG b) Should you see him, please tell him. RIGHT c) In case you see him, please tell him. RIGHT One should be used at a time, the same goes for 'so and therefore'. Example: So therefore, I shall go... WRONG Therefore, I shall go... RIGHT So, I shall go... RIGHT *In case NOT 'Incase' (spelling) 5. Alright: This is commonly seen, but the right form is 'all right'. 6. Atimes: Like 'all right', the right form is 'at times'. The same goes for ok--okay, etc. Some of these are simply chat-speak or social media language. It's essential to always use the right forms in official writings. 7. a) Could you 'advice' me on this? WRONG b) Could you give me some advices on this? WRONG c) Could you 'advise' me on this? RIGHT d) Could you give me some advice on this? RIGHT *Advice is an uncountable noun, whereas, advise is a verb. Owing to the fact that advice is uncountable, you can't say advices or an advice; however, you could say, 'a piece of advice' or some advice. Note: This goes for 'practice and practise' as well. Get it? Right, excellent! Hopefully, you've learnt and understood a couple of things here. It's however advisable to always practise as much as you can. Feel free to share this with others if need be... Peace be with you. Akande Bamidele David is a follower of Jesus; an educationist with a certain zest. |
Apparently, there are a couple of reasons why many people don't seem to see eye to eye with some certain English tests or professional exams which are sometimes inevitable. Hence, many resort to cheating and all kinds of things that are considered totally unacceptable to make up. Well, here is the catch: to plan and prepare well ahead; it's that simple. Whether it is for WAEC/NECO/JAMB/IELTS/TOEFL, etc, one major thing is to get really familiar with the exam aspects or formats, which can be done in no time flat. Here, really quickly, I shall be taking a look at the WAEC English Language Exam format. This exam has got three papers or parts to it, namely: paper 1, 2, and 3. *Paper 1 is the test for Lexis and Structure (vocabulary or word power: to see how much you've got in your Word Bank...). Nonetheless, it contains 25% of the exam. *Paper 2 is mainly Continuous Writing, Comprehension test and Summary. This takes a large chunk of 60%. *Paper 3 is strictly Oral English (Phonetics), and it just 15%: NOT to be wasted, though. Obviously, paper 2 takes the lion's share (highest percentage) of the entire exam; hence, it must not go wrong or joked with in any case. It's advisable for students/candidates to invest enough in good materials: books and online resources, in order to bring any of those exams (national or international) down to their knees! Feel free to share this with others. Peace be with you. Akande Bamidele David is a follower of Jesus; an educationist with a certain zest. |
Just like we would get our computing devices installed with a high-end antivirus software, to Detect and Delete Viruses; likewise, we got to be wise and diligent spiritually to ensure to get the Holy Spirit in us to deal with Spiritual Viruses: Lust of the flesh--Sexual sins and Love of money; Pride and Anger; and other sins. If we cooperate with Jesus by his Holy Spirit, first, he will Detect those hidden sins: in the process of judging ourselves, instead of justifying or finding excuses for them. Second, he will Delete those sins: in the process of us getting the willingness to Repent and do God's will. This is not optional; if we do not have the Holy Spirit, then we are not of Jesus. Even if one is religious: a Pastor or a good church goer/worker, if he/she does not have the Spirit, then he/she is not of God's kingdom. Question: How can we know whether a Church/Pastor/Religious person has the Holy Spirit in them? Answer: Holiness or having the fruits of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, humilty, longsuffering, etc); it's that simple. Not many churches of today major on this because their priority is Money--prosperity. Moreover, they have Mammon spirit, Noisy spirit, Falling-down spirit, Xtain-Rock Music spirit, Lying spirit, Adultery/fornication spirit, political and other worldly spirit. If you are part of any of these mentioned above, in Jesus Name, I might as well encourage you to step aside from them, and seek God's Holy Spirit--Holiness in Jesus before it's forever too late. 2 Corinthians 6:17-18 KJV Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing ; and I will receive you, [18] And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. Romans 8:9-10 KJV But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. [10] And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. |
Jan Boshoff Crazy people follow Jesus Christ. If you have to believe in Jesus and take him seriously, then people will call you crazy, because everything Jesus said doesn't make sense. Jesus said, " reject yourself, take your cross, come here, follow me ", " love your enemies; pray for those who drive you ", " if someone strikes you on one cheek, give him another ", "take everything you have, sell, give to the poor, come here and follow me". if you do this, people say that you are really not in your mind. Jesus said, "my sheep listen to my voice, and they follow me". if you start listening to Jesus, then they will say that you are crazy, you hear voices, maybe the devil tells you. This is if you trust Jesus. Dear friends, and that's why so very few people believe in Jesus. So very few people follow Jesus because they'll call you crazy, but here's a trap. If you don't trust Jesus so much that you take his words seriously, then you don't really believe it. Jesus said, "if you love me, obey my words". without faith, it is impossible to please god. Jesus said, " why do you call me, " O Lord, Lord, and do not do what I say?" why do you call yourself a Christian and do not believe what Jesus said? Is that because the world will reject you? If you believe Jesus, if you do what he said, you will be chasing, but he will discover himself to you. Dear friend, are you crazy, or are you really not a follower of Jesus Christ? May Jesus bless you. |
@kpakpandoN Thanks OP, this is a good one; although, I'm no longer a follower of the writer. May Jesus Give Us Light In All Things. |
frosbel2:God calls sins: Wickedness. All you listed are equally wickedness: sexual immoralities and murder. Repentance and obedience to Jesus is the only solution, in order to enter God's kingdom. May Jesus Bless You. |
What is spirit is spirit; what is flesh is flesh.
May Jesus Bless You. |
@Ladylite *No. 1 says 'sin no more' and 'pressing on to perfection': that's enough to tell that I certainly don't believe I know all or perfect. About Tithing and all: well, I think the most important thing is that we get God's grace to understand the difference between the old covenant and the New covenant. I do read old testament; but with the spirit of the new. One problem is we can't possibly enter God's kingdom with the old covenant, as Jesus made it clear to the Pharisees. You might as well see some of those verses if possible. May Jesus Bless You. |

What Happens When We Start Studying the Scriptures Really Deeply For Ourselves? Answer: Freedom from the Lies and Bondages of Common Pastors and Churches; it's that Simple! It's especially important to take God's Word far MORE seriously than that of any man of God, no matter how Holy or 'Prosperous' they are. The Berean Christians are typical examples (Act 17:11). When we start dealing with our Pastors/Prophets/Bishops/Rev. Fathers/etc of today like the Bereans dealt with Paul and other men of God of their time, then so much of Pastor/Church-themed Lies and Traditions would be terribly EXPOSED. People will now start believing in the true Gospel of the Real Jesus, not the fake or diluted---Sugarcoated ones anymore. Just to mention a few, by faith people will start believing: 1. It's possible to Sin No More, and we must press on to perfection as the Father is Perfect. John 5:14, Philip. 3:13-18, 1 John 3:8, 5:18 2. God wants the 100% of your Life; FORGET YOUR 10%, TITHE! Which was OLD covenant, in the new covenant you GIVE cheerfully: whether it's like 2% (or 95%) as that widow, or 8%, or 10% or 70%, etc... Jesus and his apostles taught Giving Not Tithing. In Matthew 23:23, Jesus was talking to the Pharisees (Religious hypocrites) not his disciples. Are you a Pharisee or a Disciple? Pharisees = Tithe Disciple/Follower of Jesus = Give Cheerfully. Luke 6:38, Matthew 22:37, 2 Cor. 9:7 3. Rejoicing in Jesus always; doesn't matter whether it's Pandemic days, my Birthday, Xmas day, Sunday, Food day, Bad day, etcetera. Philip. 4:4, Col. 2:16-18 4. The Tribulation will come before the Rapture takes place, not the other way round! Matthew chap. 24; Luke chap 17 and 21; Mark chap 13 5. Hell is Real, and the only way to eternal life is becoming a disciple of Jesus. Matthew 5:29 6. If you love Money, the Honour of Men and the World in general, you can't Love and Please God. Luke 16:13 7. Love your Enemies, and if you don't forgive others, God won't forgive you either, even if you fast and roar in prayers everyday. Mathew 5:44 8.All must Repent of Sin/Worldliness (be Born Again), and obey Jesus (according to the book of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) to be saved from Damnation of Hell. 9. And so on... These are just some of them, Jesus and his Church have got nothing in common with the World. Well, I'd like to thank God for you if you've got a Local Church or Pastor/Preacher that preaches strictly by the Holy Spirit with the scriptures. NOT all these Prosperity or Money-centered, unchrist-like, Clubby Ministries with fake Spirits, Gospels and jesus(es). Yes! They are Clubs, just like there are football clubs. Not true Churches which are terribly Scarce. We need to humble ourselves, study the scriptures and Obey Jesus' Words from the heart in order to have Eternal Life, and Escape eternal Damnation in Hell. Titus 1:16 KJV They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him , being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate. Mark 12:24 24 Jesus replied, “Your mistake is that you don’t know the Scriptures, and you don’t know the power of God. NLT 15 They have wandered off the right road and followed the footsteps of Balaam son of Beor, who loved to earn Money by DOING WRONG. 2 Peter 2:15 19 They promise freedom, but they themselves are slaves of SIN and corruption. For you are a SLAVE to whatever controls you. 2 Peter 2:19 May Jesus Bless You |

Believers in Jesus are supposed to be his Disciples, who deny themselves, take up the Cross, and Follow him daily. Unfortunately, modern Christianity or Church system, and Pastors have blinded the minds of many. May Jesus Bless You. Matthew 16:24 KJV Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. Matthew 10:33 KJV But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. Luke 14:26-30,33-35 KJV If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. [27] And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple. [28] For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it ? [29] Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it , all that behold it begin to mock him, [30] Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish. [33] So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple. [34] Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be seasoned? [35] It is neither fit for the land, nor yet for the dunghill; but men cast it out. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. |

Have faith in Jesus brother; Fear Him! Love Him! He'll set you free. But we've got to WANT to be really free. No amount of psychological gimmicks or religious pep talks can totally change anyone; it will be just superficial or unreal. If we do not Love, Fear and Obey Jesus, then we'll be bound to commit Sins. Let's deal with our hearts first before Jesus; it's what's in the heart that comes forth. Repentance should be total not just halfway. By God's grace, I can testify that the love and fear of Jesus has set me free from sexual immoralities of the Old; and it's been about 10 years now. Temptation or not; urge or no urge, it doesn't bother me because I've changed my interest. Never had a girlfriend because I'm more interested in being like Christ. I don't let them occupy my mind anymore; I consider it as Rubbish! That is the price, and the bible calls it the Narrow way that leads to Life. If we aren't willing to take that, then we'll continue in circles of church traditions, psychological gimmicks, self-deception and secret pet sins. Matthew 11:28-30 KJV Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. [29] Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. [30] For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Matthew 7:24,26 KJV Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: [26] And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: May Jesus Give You Light. |
Proverbs 1:7 KJV The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. May Jesus Bless You. |
Everything was by the finger of God: The Holy Spirit. Luke 1:80 KJV And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his shewing unto Israel. John 5:19 KJV Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise. May Jesus Bless You. |
Hello Everyone Not many will like this, but maybe few or a few would like to chew it over, and possibly take it completely. Peace to you all. I'll encourage everyone, whether + or - reading this to take advantage of their situations by responding to God; to live in obedience and faith in Jesus; to Repent of Sins. I'm not + myself but I've had major battles in life of which being + might be considered much better. If you knew me some years back, you'll be wondering why I'm now the type talking about Jesus at this time. It's interesting to see people with courage and a zeal for life here, but please, our lives shouldn't just be about the good things of life alone, then only to look up one day and realize the painful reality of hell for all eternity. Not all these ( - )people around are as happy as they look. Many are a hundred times worse off. What actually matters now is that we are wise enough to allow God to humble us, and have a glorious life; the life of Christ. Let's be wise to have a change of mind, to get the approval of God and have eternal life. Let's always remember that time is running out for everyone in the world to repent. Matthew 24:37-39 King James Version (KJV) 37 But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, 39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. I'm not a pastor or any such thing, but be free to contact me, should you like to. DON'T FORGET TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT, BY LETTING IT HUMBLE YOU, AND THEN DRAW YOU TO JESUS. May Jesus Bless You. |
ramzylipi:Hi, have you started working there already? david05christisking@gmail.com. |
If we want to follow Jesus; we won't have many friends. If we are actually following Jesus in our daily life, we'll surely need to avoid many people or being avoided ourselves. Either way, we shall always have to choose whether to please men or God. Many pastors or big religious men are trying to make both work out together in their own eyes. This is just fooling oneself and others who are their victims. God's Word says - 'big and great things in the world are abomination in God's eye's. We've got to seek men of God with the Spirit of Elijah, with the life and message of The Cross of Christ. Not those with the contemporary, self-customized and church-themed version of the gospel. To make them acceptable or recognized with loads of tithes and offerings. Of which neither Jesus nor his apostles did ask or collect from people. John 7:6-7 6 Jesus replied, “Now is not the right time for me to go, but you can go anytime. 7 The world can’t hate you, but it does hate me because I accuse it of doing evil. 1 John 3:13-14 KJV Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you. [14] We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death. May Jesus Bless You. |
To love God means to obey his words (according to the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, John). Not just being nice or doing good things in general. Whatever is done outside of the love of Christ is a Dead Work (Hebrew 6:1). Many are church-centered and religious, but not many Love Jesus. They are only addicted to their churches, bibles, pastors and meetings, but they have no desire to obey His words, let alone stop sinning. John 14:15 KJV If ye love me, keep my commandments. John 15:10 KJV If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. May Jesus Bless You. |
If only you could trust in Jesus in every situation; yes, even the Worst is no problem at all with Jesus. He gives life to the dead, power to the weak. With Him all things are possible. But, we've got to be willing to do his will first - to Repent and obey his words according the books of Matthew, Luke, Mark, John. Jesus is not like father Xmas, or a celebrity, neither is he a philanthropist. He is God! Although, he is loving and merciful, but he is coming back for Judgement not mercy. May we get delivered from spiritual blindness or shortsightedness, and rather get the light of Jesus in our lives. |

Xmas And The Church of Satan John Wait - A Satanist, ordained pastor and regional manager of a UK-based Church of Rational Satanism, in a discussion about XMAS! Read what he had to say: PRESENTER - OK. I'm going to assume Christmas – the celebration of the birth of the son of God – probably isn't one of your favourite festivals right? JOHN - Well I can't speak for everyone in the Church, but speaking personally and from the people I know and have talked to, NONE of us actually have a problem with Christmas; we recognise it's not a Satanist festival but WE DON'T have anything against it. PRESENTER: So the celebration of the birth of Christ, that's fine with you? JOHN: Well realistically, Christmas is about as Christian as my big toe. Even though it's ostensibly (means seemingly) about the birth of Jesus, most of the traditions are actually nicked (means stolen/taken/tapped) from pagan festivals far predating the birth of Jesus. So, unless you're going to Church or going carolling, I don't think there's much very Christian about it. Like, even the Christmas tree is A PAGAN THING, if you actually look in the Bible it says you're not allowed to decorate a christmas tree (where is this in the Bible, perhaps he meant some sort of rituals in the old testament), so IT'S NOT VERY CHRISTIAN AT ALL. PRESENTER: So will you be celebrating Christmas this year? JOHN: YEAH, I mean it's not a Satanist festival, but I recognise it as an important time to be together with the family and we do it because it's nice for the kids... Luke 16:15 KJV And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is ABOMINATION in the sight of God. 2 Corinthians 6:17 KJV Wherefore COME OUT from among them, and be ye SEPARATE, saith the Lord, and touch not the UNCLEAN thing ; and I will receive you... Who brought The Red/White Coloured Masquerade to The Church? Is this just one of the ways to play pranks on children's minds? No! But alas, Adults too are taken up. Even the great ones are not spared too. Obviously, Xmas is of the flesh - the world; the devil. Christians! If the things that excite or interest the world also excite or interest us; WE are only fooling ourselves. 1 John 2:15-16 KJV Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. [16] For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. May Jesus Enlighten You. |
At His Coming... Matthew 25:32-34 KJV And before him shall be gathered All Nations: and he shall Separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: [33] And he shall set the Sheep on his right hand, but the Goats on the left. [34] Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world... 41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: |
is a noun that can be counted, can be plural, and can be used with both singular and plural nouns.Headache, toothache, andstomachache are all count nouns because they meet those three criteria, as shown in the examples below.
