To be a Christian means to follow Jesus in obedience to His Words according to the gospel of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

However, being a "nominal christian" is of no good. It means being a Christian in name only: Not in general Lifestyle: in Thoughts, Words and Deeds. It also means belonging to a Christian family, and not having the Reality of the Life of Jesus.

I would prefer to be an "outright" Sinner than to be a Hypocrite/Nominal Christian.

Alas, most Organized Churches are full of Nominal Christiants (including the Pastors/Leaders) giving no hope for sinners who join them.

I beg to differ with you brother. I'm interested in your post because you brought up the creative dimension of sound and beats asides lyrics. I agree with you on this aspect.
Certain angelic beings did sing into the fabric of the material elements during creation and music remains God's means of creating things.
But where you went off was in the part of saying rock cannot be accepted by angels. While I can't classify rap as music, where exactly did you get this that rock music is unheavenly? Have you heard all the sounds that play in heaven? Do you know all the rhythms that God has hidden within Him? Or did God categorically tell you there is no rock in heaven.
Do you even think Satan has ever created anything except perverting what is created? Because Satan is misusing something, does it give him ownership? It's better to always remember that we only know from a portion and not fullness. Whatever you've heard is only one dimension. There are billions more to experience.

Emphatically, I can tell you that there is a lot of rock and roll in God. There is a lot of jazz, blues, afro, highlife etc. and even a lot of what else we may not be able to fit into genres we know today. The difference in the divine and satanic and the point of discernment is what each rhythm does to the souls of men and the spirit behind the inspiration whether Holy Spirit or not. Does it transmit the divine life that conveys the soul to the presence of God or mere death in gratification of the flesh? Does it have the fragrance of life and the atmosphere of heaven with it or is it simply an addictive thing that turns one's heart away from the Creator and to itself?

If you think rock or any other in itself is ungodly, you're in for a big shock soon with the kind of music heaven will be releasing to earth which will restore creation to divine order. Let's always humbly remember that we know from a portion.

Hmm, I wouldn't say God or heaven has got Rock & R ..." as you mentioned. That R&R originally means Sexual Immorality as far as I know: little wonder why most of these songs are Demonic, Sexually Stimulating and addictive.

We see many of these Celebrities being accused, convicted and sent to Jail for Sexual related Crimes like Rape/Defying Underage Girls, and also Drugs, Murder and other evil related cases.

Should that come as a Shock? Of course Not.

Friend, listening to Worldly Music is just as bad as any other Sin. Some feel guilty of addictions to Sexual Sins, but couldn't care less for ADDICTIONS to Rock Music and the likes ("Rock" is originally related to Sexual Immoralities).

One of the worst things that is even common in Christendom now is gospel singers imitating worldly singers, for instance: the Christian Rock/Rap Music.

It's not always easy to COME OUT of Worldly Music (or things in general) for Christians, especially new converts. Some don't even bother to EVER come out of it in any case.

Many years ago, at age 19 or so, I personally wasn't getting really excited knowing that I would have to let GO of my love for Secular Music, especially the common American Rock and Rap music.

Moreover, I found out that Jesus wouldn't condone my "Break Dance" either (that I had been learning or nursing for years); nor will He appreciate my addictions to VIDEO GAMES, FILMS, SPORTS (as a Club fan) and other things CHERISHED and LOVED in the World.

Seek Grace to Overcome the Love for the SOUND.

The Bible right from Daniel to Jesus to Peter, Paul and the Revelation has clearly stated that the saints (children of God) will be around, infact the great tribulation is because of the saints of God as they won't want to allow Satan rule the Earth, hence, the tribulation and the mark of Satan to show those that would be in Satan's side. No mark for you, the great tribulation.

I think many people are confusing God's wrath as against Satan's wrath.

The reason for the rapture is to remove the saints from the Earth before God pours out the wrath as seen in Revelations.

However the hope Jesus gave us is that the wrath of Satan (great tribulation) would be shortened, otherwise no one would be saved.

So please can anyone help me out here, as where the rapture happens before the Antichrist Advent.

For followers of Jesus, it's terribly Wrong; otherwise, it isn't (for most people).

There is only one way that leads to Eternal Life: the NARROW WAY of Life in Jesus. If we can't take that, we would be better off avoiding the gospel altogether, and just continue in Darkness: at least to avoid Hypocrisy. There is more hope for Sinners than Hypocrites.

Christian Rock and the likes are from Wolves in sheep's clothing: Jesus has got nothing to do with Rock Music, and things of the devil in general. Let's call a spade a spade.

Christian Celebrities are only set for MONEYMAKING AND the FAME, fooling themselves and people/fans that they are WINNING SOULS or Worshipping God.

Rubbish! You can't overcome darkness with darkness, but with the Light. God does not fellowship with the devil.

The Holy Spirit gave me a dream last night of a deadly virus that came upon the earth. The officials and many people set out to try to stop it, but when they did it jumped on them, and they were consumed and their bodies lay dead in the street for a time. There was NO WAY to stop it even thought people knew that there was somewhere a vaccination. Many people continued to die. Not many were saved. As soon as you touched this virus it would consume you. It would move on you about an inch a second. The only way you could possibly get it off you as If as soon as you touched it you chopped of that part of your body. Not many people did this. They would be consumed then they would die.
The virus to me looked like a worm. It was pale and when it would touch water or anything it would pollute everything in that water or anything that it touched. And it could not be contained, to my knowledge. It moved fast and rapidly. The only way was to avoid it and to take the vaccine.

Many people think that they have the vaccination for sin. They believe they have taken it and the blood of Jesus is now covering over the problem, the virus. The only problem is the virus on them is still spreading and is spreading rapidly. They say they have taken the blood, they say they believed in Jesus but the virus on them is still spreading rapidly. Did the blood of Jesus not do its job? Did you take the WRONG vaccination? Or have you not taken the vaccination at all? Jesus requires obedience of His servants. Sin will consume and destroy.
There is NO WAY into God's eternal Kingdom with Sin. In Hebrews 10 it says, there is no hope for the willful sinner but a certain hellfire that will consume the adversaries. Are you pure before the throne of Jesus?

It is extremely difficult to find a Christ-centered local church (gathering/fellowship) these days. It is so because of the pattern of the contemporary or common church system. This is a system where the religious organization is run: structured and managed like a Business Organization in the world.

The CEO or founder and his subordinates recruit workers, plant centres/churches and manage branches all over...

Frankly, the apostles of Jesus of old (Paul and the likes) didn't run the churches they planted like that. The apostles didn't act as CEO(s): collecting huge tithes and offerings; building luxurious churches, schools, houses; living luxuriously in general.

However, they did serve as Spiritual Fathers to them; and wouldn't tolerate Sins or Compromises: Worldliness, Political correctness and Trying to be cool with people or the world.

Now, here is the problem with our churches: the moment something goes wrong with the head (respected men at the top), it spreads to all in the system like the plague, except the few like the Berean Christians who are diligent with the words of Jesus (according to Matthew, Mark, Luke and John), and are FULL of the Holy Spirit.

For instance, if the Pastor/Prophet/Pope wakes up one day and says, "Okay, as from today, Mary was born without sin, so we can pray to her". You guessed right! Almost everyone in the system will say, "Amen".

OR

He might get up and say, "Right, once you are now saved, you are always saved: you can Never Fall Away! (like the devil told Eve she would Not Die before eating the forbidden fruit). And they will reply, "Amen". Etc.

They won't even resist because that's what they wanted to hear, and the CEO is not stupid to offend his customers or potential ones, and never to do something that would spoil his BIG business!

Back to the Question---to forsake the gathering or Not (as the Bible says):

This is a personal thing to each one: to seek Jesus personally to be sure.

Nevertheless, in my experience, as much as I believe in the gathering of brethren (a local church), I know it can be quite striking to hear that it's been over five years since I stepped away from the "regular church system".

"Huh, but it says FORSAKE NOT the gathering..." Yes, I strongly agree! Remember, the devil told Jesus, "it is written...". Jesus knew something was wrong. So, He replied, "it is ALSO written..." Matthew chap. 4. Likewise, in my case, it is ALSO written to TURN AWAY from those with a form of godliness without the power. 2 Timothy 3:5

My advice: Before you continue with your church, study the Bible, especially the new testament very well, and seek Jesus in prayer on whether to "Not forsake" OR to "Turn Away" from them.

Grace = the Love of God
Truth = Judgement/Wrath of God

The gospel of Grace without Truth is as Demonic as that with Truth without Grace; no matter how it's painted. God's will for us is to be Balanced. There two major common extremes among christians and churches: the prosperity preachers (grace without truth); legalistic preachers (truth without grace). Have you seen a bodybuilder with only one side of his body built up, and the muscle of the side budging over, while the other side looks relatively paralysed? Definitely, he'll look pretty pathetic like those who have had failed plastic or body-building surgeries or procedures.

However, we should seek God's complete Will; not just a part of it, in order not to continued being pathetic spiritually, in any case.

Truly, followers of Jesus are not exactly perfect and can't be perfect on earth like Jesus till His second coming; however, we have been called to Repent of KNOWN SINS and PRESS UNTO PERFECTION in Jesus.

It's about time we stopped believing that doing good: going to church regularly (as a member/worker/pastor, etc), paying tithes and offerings, helping people or being nice, planting churches and other good works are signs of being born-again or saved. We can't possibly bribe our way into God's kingdom by doing Good Works which are as good as Filthy Rags in God's sight.

Jesus said A Person must be Born Again to enter God's kingdom.

Now, to be born again means to TURN AWAY FROM SINS AND WORLDLINESS (starting from conscious areas, then later to unconscious areas of sins: from the known to the unknown sins). Hebrew chap. 6, Roman chap 7 & 8

Unfortunately, most Evangelists, Pastors, and Churches in general only end up making "Branded Church-Members," NOT necessarily Converted members (disciples), but people of like-minded that would faithfully pay their FIRST FRUITS, TITHES AND OFFERINGS, ETC. That prompts the question on whether they themselves are saved or NOT: the chances are that they ARE NOT, OR ONCE WERE, BUT NOW "FALLEN AWAY".

Are you truly SAVED?

Are you judging yourself; Repenting and PRESSING ONTO PERFECTION?

OR you're still a victim of Money seeking: Corrupt and Greedy Preachers?

Thanks OP. I don't like how many of you say churches of nowadays don't preach salvation. We know many churches fail on this but you can't generalise. There is a reason am a catholic and will forever be.

And not only Catholics but many other churches stress on true repentance. The problem of prosperity of gospel is mostly found among mordern churches.

I agree with you. It is wrong for the OP to condemn good works and attending churches. Jesus summarized the whole commandments. Love God whole-heartedly and love your neighbour as yourselves. In loving God you must obey his commandments on giving and tithing and doing good works so that the world will notice those and give glory to God. Definitely the bible is clear about how one can gain salvation so I don't think so issues should not arise about that. Now a new believer will need the church to strengthen his faith. So he needs to attend church service, learn from others, and challenge himself in certain areas as he grows his new found faith. Doing all those things in Paragraph 2: doing good, going to church regularly, paying tithe, helping people etc are signs of being born again (The bible charged us to them). Those things in themselves will not make you to be born again (you earn salvation by grace through faith in Jesus).

You've misunderstood the Spirit of the message; you might as well reread it with a different, patient spirit. The letter kills; it is the Spirit that gives Life.

No one can be holy by merely NOT WEARING jewelry. Lots of people not wearing it are worse off, proud: looking down on others that do.

I personally don't consider it profitable, so I've stopped using it. Even wristwatches are no more needful for me cos there are mobile phones doing the same job perfectly.

Besides, I can't imagine Jesus or the Apostles getting taken up by jewelry: putting chains or bangles on about the street.
