I am so excited to know that we still have true beleivers. Indeed Yashua Hamashiach has reserve a remnant for this last and evil days. The whole world lies in darkness including the so called 'church' which is really the synagogue of satan. They have replaced the doctrines of the gospel with doctrines of demons and have compared spiritual and holy things with carnal and earthly things.

Personally I haven't stepped foot into these shrines you called church for almost a year because I haven't found one yet that preaches the truth.

Do you stay in lagos?

Christianity EtcThe Church Business: What To Do? by davidinchrist(op):
It is extremely difficult to find a Christ-centered local church (gathering/fellowship) these days. It is so because of the pattern of the contemporary or common church system. This is a system where the religious organization is run: structured and managed like a Business Organization in the world.

The CEO or founder and his subordinates recruit workers, plant centres/churches and manage branches all over...

Frankly, the apostles of Jesus of old (Paul and the likes) didn't run the churches they planted like that. The apostles didn't act as CEO(s): collecting huge tithes and offerings; building luxurious churches, schools, houses; living luxuriously in general.

However, they did serve as Spiritual Fathers to them; and wouldn't tolerate Sins or Compromises: Worldliness, Political correctness and Trying to be cool with people or the world.

Now, here is the problem with our churches: the moment something goes wrong with the head (respected men at the top), it spreads to all in the system like the plague, except the few like the Berean Christians who are diligent with the words of Jesus (according to Matthew, Mark, Luke and John), and are FULL of the Holy Spirit.

For instance, if the Pastor/Prophet/Pope wakes up one day and says, "Okay, as from today, Mary was born without sin, so we can pray to her". You guessed right! Almost everyone in the system will say, "Amen".

OR

He might get up and say, "Right, once you are now saved, you are always saved: you can Never Fall Away! (like the devil told Eve she would Not Die before eating the forbidden fruit). And they will reply, "Amen". Etc.

They won't even resist because that's what they wanted to hear, and the CEO is not stupid to offend his customers or potential ones, and never to do something that would spoil his BIG business!

Back to the Question---to forsake the gathering or Not (as the Bible says):

This is a personal thing to each one: to seek Jesus personally to be sure.

Nevertheless, in my experience, as much as I believe in the gathering of brethren (a local church), I know it can be quite striking to hear that it's been over five years since I stepped away from the "regular church system".

"Huh, but it says FORSAKE NOT the gathering..." Yes, I strongly agree! Remember, the devil told Jesus, "it is written...". Jesus knew something was wrong. So, He replied, "it is ALSO written..." Matthew chap. 4. Likewise, in my case, it is ALSO written to TURN AWAY from those with a form of godliness without the power. 2 Timothy 3:5

My advice: Before you continue with your church, study the Bible, especially the new testament very well, and seek Jesus in prayer on whether to "NOT Forsake" OR to "TURN Away" from them.

2 Corinthians 6:17-18 KJV
Wherefore COME OUT from among them, and BE YE SEPARATE, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing ; and I will receive you,
[18] And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

2 Timothy 4:3-4,10 KJV
For the time will come when they will NOT endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they HEAP to themselves Teachers, having ITCHING EARS;

[4] And they shall TURN away their ears from the Truth, and shall be turned unto FABLES.

[10] For Demas hath Forsaken me, having LOVED this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.

Matthew 23:15 KJV
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him TWOFOLD more the child of hell than yourselves.

2 Timothy 3:5 KJV
Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such TURN AWAY.

John 6:66-68 KJV
From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked NO MORE with him.
[67] Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also GO AWAY?

[68] Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom Shall We Go? thou hast the words of Eternal life.

May Jesus Bless You.

BEING and BEEN

*Being* implies that the action is still on in the present (is being done); past (was being done).
Use is, was, are, were + Being

While *been* connotes already done/settled (past perfect).

Use has/have/had + Been
Has is singular; have is plural and had is the past tense of both has and have.

Example sentences:

*He has been taken back.
*They have been taken back.
*He had been taken back before you arrived.

Moreover, they're pronounced differently: *BEING---MI....; *BEEN---RE (Yoruba marks).

Bobolof343:
Someone that sin alot and can someone HV it with out consulting any pastor
If the person sins a lot willfully and unrepentant, he gets lost altogether and loses the Holy Spirit. Because the Holy Spirit cannot live in a dirty vessel.

Except he genuinely repents and do not want to Sin anymore (he may slip up sometimes but he hates it and repents immediately and seeks God till he gets victory over it), he won't receive the Spirit. Therefore, he won't be a child of God but of the devil. The bible says he that sins is of the devil. 1 John 3:8

You don't really need any pastor or man to pray for you: all you need is a genuine or repentant heart. If God sees one that is sorry and repentant of his sins, he will not cast such away but bless him.

Now, after a person has received the Holy Spirit and continue to obey Jesus according to Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, then he must ask to be FILLED of the Holy Spirit to overcome sins, witness for Jesus and serve God.

Luke 8:13 KJV
They on the rock are they , which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, "which for a while believe", and in time of temptation "fall away".

Romans 8:13 KJV
For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

1 Peter 4:18 KJV
And if the righteous "scarcely" be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?

Matthew 24:13 KJV
But he that shall "endure unto the end", the same shall be saved.

Hebrews 10:26-27 KJV

Hebrews 6:6 KJV
If they shall FALL AWAY, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

1 Corinthians 9:27 KJV
But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

If we continue in obedience to Jesus' words we remain, otherwise we would get CUT OFF and burned!

Askme2020:
Thanks.. This give some insight. But according to the topic. The soul is different from the mind.
Hmm, I see your point. I've just done a quick search in the Bible, and I was just getting to realize that the word Soul is used many times to mean two main things among others:
1. A person's Life or Existence in total. Matthew 16:26
2. Will, emotion, mind (according to my previous post).

*Also, I think it's used somewhat synonymously with the word 'Person': Every soul means Everybody, Everyone... E.g: Act 3:23 KJV.

Cos the Spirit is the real Man: God's Image;

*We are Spirits (God created us in his own image, God is Spirit).

*We have a Soul each (As in: Hebrew 4:12 and 1 Thess 5:23 type of context; my previous post).

*We live in the Body to interact with the physical world: when the body dies our spirits/souls remain: with God or eternal punishment.

Anyway, I think the main thing is to yield every part of our existence to God; not minding too much about the exact names given to the parts scripturally.

Matthew 16:26 KJV
For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own Soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his Soul? (Soul = Someone's Life or Existence)

Truly I have heard alot of things concerning the Roman Catholics but when it comes to religion, everyone believes they have chosen the right path(may almighty God be our guide)but here is what I know about Roman Catholics but it could be false hence I need an insight of what Roman Catholic is truly all about.Prior to the time of Constantines conversion ,christains were persecuted not so much for their profession of faith in Christ ,but because they would not include pagan dieties in their faith as well, then with Constantines emphasis on making the new found Christianity palatable to the empire, the christianization of these pagan dieties was facilitated, example is where pagan rituals and idols gradually took on christian meanings and names and were incorporated into Christian worship.(e. g Saints replaced by the cult of pagan gods in both worship and as patrons of cities, mother and son status were renamed as Mary and Jesus and so on),and pagan holidays were reclassified as Christians holy days(example is the Roman Lucerpalia and an ancient festival of the dead was replaced by All souls day rededicated to christian heroes Now Halloween. A transition occured and instead of being persecuted for failure to worship pagan dieties, christians who did not agree with the particular orthodoxy backed by the emperor were now persecuted in the name of Christ.Roman Catholic way of worship is really difficult to understand. Why have they choose to worship Mary and everything associated with them are more of Mary. Why Mary and not Jesus?
As a Catholic/Pentecostal by birth, I'm sorry, but I must warn everyone who cares to listen. Start taking Jesus' Words far more seriously than that of ANY Church or Man.

Start IMITATING the Berean Christians, unlike the Thessalonican Christians, they SEARCHED the scriptures Daily to SEE that what the Apostles taught were True. The Holy Spirit Saw that, and was impressed. (Act 17:11)

The problem is that we ARE NOT serious, that's why everything our Pastors/Father/Pope/Bishop says or does Must be true; but the Words of Jesus? 'Huh, Jesus can Wait!' 'What they preach in my Daddy/Mummy's Church/denomination is terribly more important!'

Perhaps, our church or religious leaders are now closer to God the Father than Jesus himself?Hence, they are the way, the truth and the life?

It's terrible to realize how we focus on Church traditions/rituals/routines, and shut out the words of Jesus according to Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

John 14:15 KJV
If ye love me, keep my commandments.

Colossians 2:8,18 KJV
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

[18] Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind.

Matthew 15:3 KJV
But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?

Luke 13:24,27 KJV
Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.
[27] But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.

unstoppable51:
From #FeedMeJesus.com,

The idea of a Christian losing his salvation is one of the most debated topics in the body of Christ today.

This argument has left so many Christians ill-informed about salvation, fearful and worried over where they will end up after their departure from this earth.

Some not having a proper understanding of the subject have been caught up in the endless circle of answering altar calls over and over in order to retain or renew their salvation so they won’t end up losing it totally due to their wrong actions, words and thoughts.

To find out the possibility of a Christian losing his salvation, we need to first understand what salvation is and how it came about, else we will be drawing up conclusions that have no strong footing in the scriptures.

What is Salvation according to the Bible and how is one saved?

Salvation in the scriptures is gotten from the Greek word SOTERIA. In this context it has to do with man’s complete deliverance or rescue from sin and it’s penalty which is spiritual death and eternal separation from God’s presence.

It involves God coming through for man in order to bring him closer to himself in a loving relationship by imparting into him eternal life, which is the God-kind of life.

Having being rendered powerless and helpless by sin, man’s only way of avoiding the utter destruction that was coming ahead of him was going to be via a Saviour. Someone whom sin and death has no power over, someone whom God has raised by Himself for the whole world to be saved through Him.

“And we declare unto you glad tidings, how that the promise which was made unto the fathers, God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.

“Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.” Acts 13:32-33 & 38-39.

ALL who BELIEVE in Him are JUSTIFIED from all things. Not by the works of the Law but by Faith. They are seen by God as if they had never sinned before when they believe in God’s grace to save them.

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9

So a man receives salvation by faith, not works else salvation is no longer a gift but a reward or wage. The scriptures we have seen clearly explains this.

When a man believes in the Saviour Jesus, he (the man) by faith receives the Life of God in his spirit and is said to be born again, that is, saved from sin and its eternal consequences.

He has received God’s biggest gift to man which is Salvation in His Son through faith.

So can a Christian lose this God’s gift of Salvation for any reason after he has received it by faith and perish with those who never accepted the Gospel in the first place?

The bible answers this for us. Let’s see together the book of John Chapter 3, from verse 14.

“And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:14-16

Twice it is stated clearly in the above verses that whosoever believes in him SHALL NOT PERISH.

The “perish” there has to do with “complete destruction from the presence of God”, the fate of all those who did not believe and receive the gift of Salvation that God has given the world through His Son.

Jesus further explains this in chapter 10 of the same book of John, verse 27 to 29.

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: AND I GIVE UNTO THEM ETERNAL LIFE: and THEY SHALL NEVER PERISH, NEITHER SHALL ANY MAN PLUCK THEM OUT OF MY HAND. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and NO MAN IS ABLE TO PLUCK THEM OUT OF MY FATHER’S HAND” John 10:27-29 (Emphasis mine)

No man (including the believer himself) is able to pluck the one God has already saved out of his hand.

So in God’s hand, the man who has believed in Jesus for Salvation is safe, fully kept by God Himself unto the last day.

Now will there be times when he act, say and think wrong thoughts?
Yes, many times.

But will these wrongs or sins cost him his salvation or separate him from God?
The scriptures never said that.

In fact, Paul the apostle was so sure of the inseparable eternal union the believer has with God through Christ that he wrote.

“For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, NOR THINGS PRESENT, NOR THINGS TO COME, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39 (Emphasis mine)

The reason he was this sure that not even things present and that which is to come (sins) would be able to separate the believer from the love of God is simply because God is not counting the sins of the believer against him. Salvation took care of that.

“To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.” 2 Corinthians 5:19

God does not impute or count ours sins against us anymore. As a matter of fact, He keeps the believer secured in His love and will present him before the world “faultless” on the last day, as though he had never sinned in his entire life.

“Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy. To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.” Jude 1:24-25

God is able to keep you from falling as a believer, you don’t have to be restless with the thought of keeping your salvation or losing it. As a matter of fact, you are not the one “keeping” your salvation, Salvation is what is keeping. And He will keep you till the end.

So can a Christian lose his Salvation? It is as impossible as it is for God to lie!

He saves and keeps us saved, forever! Glory to His name!

Unfortunately, the answer given here is True By Half! I mean it's not Complete. This is a common method of Leading people astray.

I'll quote Paul, one of the greatest apostles of Jesus:
27 I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be Disqualified.
1 Corinthians 9:27

Remember what Jesus said:

Luke 9:62 KJV
And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough (converted), and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.

Luke 13:24 KJV
Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall NOT be able.

John 15:6 KJV
If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the FIRE, and they are Burned.

The Bible warns not to be many teachers, because they will be judged with stricter judgement. We must take heed.

The bible says Flee youthful lusts. If we don't flee, we ARE NOT serious. The Bible says Jesus Loved righteousness but Hated Sin. You see, many of us don't Hate those sins or addictions. We can't expect God to do what we are meant to do. First is to be humble, pray and pray: ask for forgiveness, obey Jesus in order to continue in the light. Also, cast of all channels of temptation: friends (male/female), TV shows or movies, etc. I've always had to avoid the TV shows/movies like the plague (even so-called Christian movies).

Obedience in this case is to FLEE. The picture about Fleeing I like is about a Lion or Leopard that has just broken loose on the street: how would people Flee? However, if we don't fear God's wrath, love him for his mercy, hate evil, we'll just continue to pat the head of the lions of sins, feed them and end up in more and more sins: spiritual death. Repentance must be total, not just for some parts.

May we humble ourselves and receive grace to overcome in all things.

May Jesus Bless You.
