Thanks, A Honda Accord fits this bill right?

It all depends on the model, year and the condition of the car.
Car Talk / Re: 100k Salary Enough To Get A Car? by davou4eva(m): 11:40am On Apr 14, 2015
It does not mean that you must be using the car for all your day to day activities. It might probably be an occasional usage to minimize maintenance activities and expenses but at least you will know that you have a mobility means whenever the need arises and most especially when you have to go out with your spouse and children.

Bros, getting a car is not a luxury but a necessity. Just ensure to get a car that you can maintain within your income and ensure to be serious about the maintenance. I bought my first car when i was earning less than 100k and am already using my third car, i mean, i will sell the one am using and add some amount of money to buy new one. It's all about been prudent in your spending. Best

Volvo is one of the car you can ever drive. I ve used the S80 for 4years and am driving the XC90 now. You dare not compare it with some of this Toyota as Volvo beat them hands down. Let me be sincere with you, as long as you can have a good maintenance culture, I can assure you that u will neva regret it.

Talk of the luxury, interior, smooth driving, power, full options accessories, balancing and speed. The major thing you may need to change often is the bulbs and absorber pad. Overall, its a good ride. Good luck

I think the Volvo is gradually getting accepted because of their new innovation since 1998 has been so good. We hope Naija mechanic would go side by side with the new innovation and trend and will not cause havoc.

Peterwins: From the listed six contenders (though others exist), I will pick Dr Sarah Alade because:

She will need to lobby the world bank, IMF, the Presidency and most importantly GOD to get the job. I will be glad if she becomes the first female CBN governor in Nigeria just as we now have the first female CJN heading the judiciary.

So, she can mess up like her Aviation counterpart.........."what a man can do, a woman can do better"

Car Talk / Re: At What Mileage Would A Car Stop Moving? by davou4eva(m): 2:45pm On Aug 19, 2013
Mileage is like a time table to remind you of when next to do your servicing and or change a particular spare parts.

So, your car can last a lifetime based on your level of maintanace and how much you cherich it.

aisha2: I have a Lovely S 70, solid strong car, people find it funny that a woman would have one but I got tired of soft, easily crashed cars.
One issue sha, it doesnt pick on time when i stop or slow down, most times I have to switch off and switch on, Mechanics have used me to do party on that one issue, every other thing is fine and sound.
Anyone with a similar issue?
When it picks sha, it fires so well, all the 5 cylinders are alive then.

I think you need to do the necessary diagnosis to confirm what is really wrong with the car.

Nefo: I went car shopping with a friend of mine one day, but before we set out we had this long arguement on what car to buy. It was the 2005 Toyota Highlander vs The 2005 Volvo XC90. I was rooting for the Highlander because I had used one before. Finally we set out and paid for the Volvo. I had driven this car for a while now and sometimes I ask myself why I didn't get this car for myself.

The price difference was much though, Highlander was at 2.4M while Volvo was at 2.0M. I waited for a day the car would break down so I would mock him over availability of parts. Finally that day came, we got to Ladipo market and asked for where we could get parts for the volvo. OMG!!!! Trust Igbo boys they had it all in stock. They even said Oga! even if u want the whole body of the car we have it.

I can't wait to get the XC90 because i am enjoying the S80....

Two of you have hit the nail on the head.
We are being ruled by a bunch of not just kleptomaniacs but clueless Eediots!

NO WHERE IN THE WHOLE WORLD (and l challenge anyone to show me just one country, not even Agfhanistan!) IS THIS TYPE OF MADNESS PRACTICED!

Its only in NIGERIA-NISTAN that you have blind people leading sighted people! angry angry
What would these people not do, just to make a little buck here and there?

*Look at the drivers License that are yapping about, its a chaos and complete failure!
*Look at the National I.D Card scheme? ITS A SCAM of the biggest magnitude (we all read about it in the papers now!)
*Look at the National Census, up till today, we cant even count ourselves. The budget is BIG AND LOOTED!!
*Where is the Voters Register ...or the E-Voting machines they procured for free? Dead on Arrival!
*Where are the computerised record of 'Police Ammunition'? No wonder "accident, dey discharge", everyday! shocked
*Its the same story in any project where the "initiator" stands to make financial benefit!

In countries ruled by people with even a "little sense", this is what happens:

1.) Every NEW CAR is registered on FIRST USE and it maintains that same Registration Number till it is DEAD AND SCRAPPED/CRUSHED.

2.) On first registration, the details are ENTERED on a Computer Database that is "ALWAYS ALIVE" for query, by law enforcement, from anywhere in the "field".!
But we dont even have electricity to power NEPA Offices, talk-less of one database in one Govt Agency like FRSC! grin grin

3.) When you register your car "brand new", you are given a Certificate of Ownership (Log Book, in some countries) which contains ALL THE DETAILS of the Vehicle, including the Name and Address of CURRENT owner.

4.) Space is also created below for the name and address of a NEW OWNER to be inserted, when the car is SOLD to another person.

5.) When you sell your car to somebody, (at the point of final payment/transfer of ownership), you will ask the NEW BUYER to fill the space of New Owner "Name and Address" in your presence.

6.) Both of you will "SIGN" it and you (the Seller) must post the Certificate of Ownership (Log Book) to the Licensing Authority IMMEDIATELY to show that the car is no longer yours and no longer your responsibility.

7.) Within 5-working days (at most), the Licensing Authority MUST issue a NEW CERTIFICATE OF OWNERSHIP in the name of the "New Owner" (now the current owner), with another "empty space for any subsequent buyer, if the new owner wishes to sell at a later date.

8.) The number of "previous owners" is also recorded on that certificate of ownership.

But in all these "transparent transactions", the Vehicle Number remains UNALTERED/UNCHANGED, until the end of the car's life.
With the added benefit of "immediate traceability", as l can easily tell the make, model, year of first "use", State or county of first use, e.t.c, just by looking at that Plate Number!

Can anyone, including this clueless FRSC man, and his "P.R. Machines on Nairaland", tell us whether their "new madness" is better than this?
This is what is used in the U.S, U.K, all over Europe, all over Asia, Russia, e.t.c!

We cant even manufacture one single car! ...and that nitwit thinks he is smarter than all this countries combined?

I weep for a country so blessed, yet led by clueless thieves whose only goal is not to "rule well" but to make Policies whose sole goal is to enrich their pockets.

Thunder fire you, Sunday Maku or what do you call yourself!
angry angry

Lastpage!
BTW: I think we Nigerians are just too foolish and docile (pardon my language please), otherwise, we should be protesting and challenging all these shenanigans cum idiotic policies. But them we focus too much attention on tribal insults while the thieves have a field day! Its gonna get worse, me thinks, if we just swallow it.

Guy, tell them i dey follow you.
Car Talk / Re: Re-birth Of The Volvo Brand In Nigeria by davou4eva(m): 1:11pm On Jul 03, 2013
Yeah! you are very right my brother.

I got the Volvo S80 T6 not quite long and so far so good it has been a very pleasure ride.

From the turbo engine, factory fitted A/C that work very perfectly from the first minute, the interior, sterring wheel, the ABS, the chasis, tyres range with the alloy rims, the balancing while on speed and so on.

One of the thing i love about the Volvo S80 is when you tried to turbo (kick down) the way the engine sound is marvellous compare to Toyota which i was using before as if the engine want to explode.

The maintenance is still ok @ about or less than N10,000.00 on every 3500-5000km depending on if you need to change both the oil/fuel filter and or the plugs.

In conclusion, so far so good until i refuse to do the proper maintenance which we lack mostly in Naija.

Baconline, i have a 99 volvo S80 with 2keys and keyless remote controller. I've been using one of it until it got spoit and loss not quite long.

So, i went to pick the spare one but unfortunately its not working. I've changed the battery 2times all to no avail.

Can you please tell me what might be wrong and the way forward.

I will appreciate all your efforts to resolve this.

Thanks for your anticipated assistance.

gajike: no not that way. the vin number will not change. immediately ur car is stolen. report yo police. the police will track it at frcn through the vin number. immediately they input the car vin the details of the new owner and pictures will come out. it will reduce car theft. u can also verify the previous owners of the car u want to buy through frcn so u will not mistakenly buy stolen vehicle.

That is, if the data base will be accessible at the time u need it and if not corrupt by then.

chinjo:
my brother u sure are driving with a fake drivers liscence. no drivers liscence produced by FRSC expires in 2015. They all are to expire by 2014. Pls verify from neighbours and colleagues

Guy, you are very right and i bet them that am not going to renew or get the new driver liscense until this old one expire cos they issue it to me.

Were they blind when they were issuing this to me and fixing the new date for the new driver's liscence taking off.

I bet them na court go settle am should any police or frsc offcials embarrass me.

I rest my case for now.
