With all due respect, don't say that again

I am a true son of Ife and i will not take it lightly any disrespect, in whatever form, to Ooni's throne and supremacy. There is a reason why Opa Oranmiyan lies behind my grand- father's compound in Ife
Have you found out who is Oramiyan and who are his descendants.

Oba what? I would become the Aare before OBJ.

Nowadays I think the Aare should represent more of a Political leader or economic leader

Is Alafin More powerful than Oni?
Alaafin is historically more powerful than Ooni. Oyo was the capital of Yoruba kingdon and Alaafin was the ruler.

The Ooni post was elevated by Awolowo when Sir Adesoji Aderemi was ooni

@ OP,

You stole my Topic LOL.

Obasanjo wetin? God Punish devil.

The Aare Ona Kakanfo used to be the Yoruba General who lead them to wars. He is usually very powerful

The Aare is expected to commit suicide/never return home should he lose a war.

All Aare have been known to die in tragic circumstance.

olabukola:
I really don't see anybody that merit that tittle now even MKO did not merit it.
One thing am confused about is must it be Alafin that will select who to confer the tittle to?

Is Alafin More powerful than Oni?

I think whoever must be conferred should be a Muslim my opinion anyway.
Samuel ladoke Akintola was not a Moslem. Maybe MKO was the only Moslem that was. I also heard Aare latosa converted to islam before he died
Politics › Re: Acn Dumps Ribadu! by dayokanu(m): 8:05pm On Dec 29, 2010
Igbos in ACN? Nope. Because they would play second fiddle to Yoruba there.

They have formed their own party APGA. Now let all igbo progressives support it and sweep all elections in those states.

I love what Orji kalu was doing with his Party (PPA) before they got bundled out by PDP again.

I dont care if Kalu or Tinubu is a thief, i respected them because they stood against OBJ staunchly. If people like Kalu, Obi, etc can rally round APGA and make it the number 1 refuge for Igbo people it would be great

Basically Igbos voted to protect their interest just like Yorubas have historically always done.

Personally, i would prefer Igbos voting for a party that would protect their interest. In PDP its an all comers affair and you have little or no say. But in a  party like APGA your interest are well stated out and defended.

Imo, Abia, Enugu and Abia all went to Tofa!

http://maxsiollun./2009/06/11/16th-anniversary-of-the-june-12-1993-election/
That was why I was looking for the result to correct any revisionist in the house.

I knew Igbos voted Tofa over Abiola probably because their Igbo son Sylvester Ugoh was VP.

Not that anything is bad in this cos Yorubas would have done the same thing but saying Igbos dont do what?

Politics is a game of reality. Else you would be shortchanged.

Yorubas in 1999 voted for their man Falae, In 2003, they voted for OBJ who though is a useless person but is still Yoruba

In Politics, You dont enter into an alliance without having something to get from it.

SW know they dont have a realistic shot at Number 1 (Presidency) and they would bargain for the next best thing they can get.

Whats their bargaining power 6-7 states votes.

A GEJ presidency relegates Yorubas to number 5 in Nigeria, While a Buhari/ACN presidency makes them number 2. If for any reason Buhari dies before his term completes like Yar'adua. SW becomes President again just the way GEJ became.

If you say VP is ceremonial, think about How a ceremonial GEJ became numero uno.

Like I said earlier, the earlier the Igbos rally round APGA and kick out PDP the better for them. PDP has nothing to offer them.

With APGA they can get 5-6 states bloc votes and thats a huge bargaining power
Politics › Re: Acn Dumps Ribadu! by dayokanu(m): 6:48pm On Dec 29, 2010
Last election he was contesting against Yar Adua who is also from his home state.

Consider the number of states ANPP has gained from the PDP in that time frame and you would see how much power Buhari wields in the North.

Bauchi with the Popularity of Muazu fell to ANPP, Yobe, Jigawa, Borno, Kano are under his hold

Politics › Re: Acn Dumps Ribadu! by dayokanu(m): 6:33pm On Dec 29, 2010
Buhari has tried 2 SE as VP in the past and couldnt win one single SE state.

It would be unwise to keep doing the same thing and hope for a different result.

The ACN can guarantee him votes and 6-7 states. If you were Buhari who would you go with?
Politics › Re: Acn Dumps Ribadu! by dayokanu(m): 6:31pm On Dec 29, 2010
The North nor Buhari wants to settle for the VP slot. They want the presidency. Being a Vice President is only ceremonial. Why would they join the ACN to become a Vice President? If you can see with their beef with GEJ, they want the top spot.
Is the ACN offering Buhari VP? No So this situation is not worth discussing

And the SE is rallying behind APGA. Abia, Ebonyi & Imo is in play. If it wasn't for Sullivan Chime, Enugu would be in play as well, but he is doing a good job under the PDP umbrella.
How far has the APGA gone in the SE They only have Anambra under control, So what gives the assurance that they would get other states

The ACN has Lagos, Osun, Ekiti Edo and Ondo(In agreement with the Labour party). Oyo and ogun are definitely going to fall
Politics › Re: Acn Dumps Ribadu! by dayokanu(m): 6:26pm On Dec 29, 2010
When Buhari picked an Igboman as VP in the last two elections, was he able to win any SE state? No

Buhari/SE = Only Northern votes

Buhari/SW = Northern votes + 6-7 SW states vote

Which one makes sense to any rational observer?
Politics › Re: Acn Dumps Ribadu! by dayokanu(m): 6:09pm On Dec 29, 2010
Like I said, if you think ACN is ready for the national spotlight, you are sadly mistaken. It needs to shake off that tribal background. You do know this election is GEJ's to lose?
Dont you think its getting cyclical right now?

Why do you think ACN offered to be a VP under Buhari if they were not trying to get in the mainstream?

If the ACN had come with Tinubu for president now and just hung on to their 6-7 states then your point would be valid, but they opted to be Vice president under a Buhari that would give them penetration in the North which is enough sacrifice.

What else do you want?

If SE want to be reckoned with much in Nigerian politics they should all rally round APGA and make the 5 SE states bloc votes for APGA

Because Politics you have to bring something to the table

The Alaafin of Oyo and OyoMesiappoints the Aare Ona kakanfo.

Are you insinuating the Alaafin is doing the dictates of Dan Fodio?

The last Aare Onakakanfo was the late Chief M.K.O Abiola who died in
mysterious circumstances on June 7, 1998 having been prevented from
assuming the post of the president of Nigeria despite having won the
June 12, 1993 election. Before him, the late Chief Ladoke Akintola,
former Premier of the old Western Region, was conferred with the
title of Kakanfo based on his ability to communicate with a rare
skill, his dogged passion for anything Yoruba and his demonstrated
love for pious character that speak volumes about ancient Yoruba
powers and spirituality, royal sources claim.
