Did the Midwest ask to be invaded? I send robbers to your house to beat and steal but its ok if the robbery was led by your nephew? Right?

Katsumoto: I agree wholeheartedly that the pogroms were beastly but Awo betrayed no one.
I disagree. Infact I support it. If you think you can kill my own people without any recriminations then you must have another think coming.

And once you start the initial act, you cant decide what I should do in return.

When Few Arab bombed the WTC, America went after the whole Afghanistan and Iraq, Why didnt Bush just tell them to bring ONLY the culprits for punishment?

Killing other leaders was an act of war, Just like killing Archduke Ferdinand
DK and Kats:

What you don't seem to understand is that a coup in which
a) the primary actors were Igbo
b) and all of the victims non-Igbo, and
c) in fact all the senior Igbos (Ironsi, Zik, Okpara and Osadebey, etc) emerged unscathed

was a selfless, non-sectarian, patriotic coup for the best interest of Nigeria.
Exactly a selfless non sectarian act. Just like the invasion of the midwest was to liberate them

Ngodigha1: Akintola resisted arrest knowing fully that his Otumokpu will save him. But guess what, it failed him.
Balewa wasn't killed by anyone. He died of natural causes e.g asthma.
Bello-he so much believed in the protection of his islamic police, he underestimated the force of the boys in khaki, and so they paid for their lives.
Am sure that if Shagari and Ekwueme had resisted arrest that fateful day in december 83, they would have suffered the same fate as the trio discussd above.
And what Happened to Azikwe, Okpara and Osadebey?

Azikwe had ulcer and was forgotten, Okpara has Constipation and was forgotten, Osadebey has ezcema and was forgotten

OP,

Can you explain why Igbo soldiers killed other regional leaders and spared theirs on January 15 1966.

That is the genesis of the war.

Igbos brought war on themselves by the action of Ifeajuna, Nwobosi, Onwuatuegwu, Nzeogwu and ironsi
Politics › Re: Achebe On Awolowo: Has He Gone Too Far? by dayokanu(m): 6:16pm On Oct 10, 2012
ayobase: LOL....I gerrit!
The failed coup by Dimka led to the execution of 2 Colonels, 4 Lt. Colonels, 7 Majors, 6 Captains, 9 Lieutenants, 7 non-commissioned officers and a civilian broadcaster.
.
If the middle belt wasn't LEVELLED due to the sin of these people led by Dimka, then Civil war should have been avoided by simply bringing the perpetrators to book just as Dimka and his cohort!
.
My point is, the War was avoidable!
In the first coup the people killed were not just Political leaders some of them were cultural and spiritual leaders of the regions

Sardauna was the spiritual and political head of the north, Akintola was the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland. The manner which Azikwe and Okpara escaped the killing pointed to it that it was a tribally planned event. After the coup Igbos everywhere were making almanacs, Music about how Ibos crushed the others.

Even goin in the North and selling posters showing Sardaunas head under the feet of Nzeogwu and ironsi.

Well they sowed the fruit of war and they reaped it bountifully. Why did you think Adekunle took the war personal? because a reverred leader in his community who committed no crime was brutally murdered by Ibo soldiers.

Ironsi had 6 months to take action but did nothing and was pussyfooting all over.

Sparing Okpara and Azikwe was their biggest undoing and 48hrs after the coup, Ifeajuna was hosted in Enugu by Michael Okpara

okosodo: @lies4meal, do not think that everybody whom do not support what awo did is ibo. Though i would like to be called ibo than to be called than being an awoist. I have learnt that ibos never betray an agreement
So you mean the deal Igbo had was to kill other regional leaders and spare theirs?

That is the greatest form of betrayal this country has ever witnessed

gnchetts: My problem now is that am being forced to call his younger ones Aunty's and brothers and greet them in the morning. This is really very difficult for me because I gave his immediate younger sister 3years and my husband is even supporting them that is their tradition in Okija,Anambra state but I've never had about such tradition in any part of Igbo land.
You gave his sister 3years? So when would she return the 3years to you or did you dash her the 3yrs ni?

Curious!
Because Dimka killed Murtala he is asking why they didnt kill Middle belters and comparing it to the killing of the Sardauna , the Aare Ona Kakanfo, the prime Minister and the minister of Finance

Dede1: It is apparent the Achebe’s book, There Was A Country, has brought the real pathological haters to the surface of Nigerian polity. If Achebe has pathological hatred for Yoruba, would he have allowed his daughter to marry a Yoruba man?
Did Chief Onoh allow his daughter to marry Ojuku?

Is it possible to dictate who your daughter gets married to? Dendemoron

Ngodigha1: And he was murdered with just one gun shot on that his ugly tribal-marked face. Rest in peace, the first man to fight Awo the murderer. The firstman to show to the world that Awo was a muster. Thanks to those dirty slaps you landed Awo in Jos.
Real warlords dont flee to Abidjan below is what they do

Shortly afterward, a detachment of soldiers led by Captain Emmanuel Nwobosi arrived at Akintola’s residence. Upon sighting the soldiers, Akintola opened fire – lightly wounding a few of them including Capt Nwobosi. After bravely fighting for his life and engaging the soldiers in a gunfight, Akintola was shot dead by Nwobosi and his men.

Ngodigha1: What an imbecilic question you are asking?. Dimka and co from Benue/Plateau killed M. Mohammed yet the people of middle belt were not exterminated. But the coup plotters suffered for their sins.
Nonsense.
Definitely stupidity runs in your genes.

Can Murtala Mohammed be compared to Sardauna of Sokoto, Balewa or Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland? or a prominent Itshekiri high chief Okotie Eboh

Ngodigha1: Monkey shitt-licker, you guys are lucky, the war wasn't just East vs Yorugba. Yorubagbaland would have been like the old oyo which the fulanis sacked and they ran away to a new location. Its still not late, try any nonsense and see yourselves as refugees in Benin, Bigoted fool.
Yorubas are smarter than you and would defeat you every single time you come up with your uprising.

Battles are fought with brain and not brawns thats why Awolowo, Adekunle and Obasanjo were at the fore front of the humiliating defeat of Biafra.

Start another war and when Another Adekunle descend on you, You would shout genocide again. pussyass niggas

ilugunboy: Like I said in my previous post elsewhere......I will always want to put some measure of blame on Pa Awolowo.

We had the chance to finish off these damn niggas then, even at the risk of been condemned by the international community.

He should have poisoned the food been send to the fore-bearers of the iboz making noise here today...with that, we will not be making these back and forth arguments.

The few surviving ones should have been send to the farms as human-donkey.

This is what you get if you give Iboz any ounce of chance....they will come back to hurt you for your kindness.
I agree with you completely. When I speak people think I am extreme and Its Yorubas who cant think deep that would accomodate the Igbos who have an agelong hatred for Yorubas.

SLA Akintola was my granduncle and he obviously knew the Igbos more than most politician of that time thats why he called them Ibo Alakuko.

Find his clip on youtube and listen to it. It shows that the Igbos have always been this way from time immemorial

Listen to part 1 , 2 and 3 of these and you would understand the Ibos better. The people that knew Ibos for who they were are Akintola and benjamin Adekunle

Can you name any member from your family or your community who was there in the East when Ojukwu comitted the acts you accuse him off?. Failure to do that means you should forever hold your face in shame?.
ngodigha, now that you have been shown the evidence of Ojuku killing children in his cowardly escape I fully expect you to claim that the Newspaper article was doctored or it was Awolowo who published the Sydney newspaper
