naijababe: @ Dayo, I am really curious, what does being a husband mean to you? I mean what is the role of a father/husband in a family?
Maybe I should be asking cos the man in question does the lion share 2/3 and 60%

Maybe the OP should be answering what a husband means to her and what a wife does in the house? or is the wife just a figurehead?

Or what woman in 2012 expects to be thanked for paying 1/3 of rent, paying her own kids hospital bills among other complaints

If she wanted a man who would take 100% of ALL financial responsibilities, maybe she would have married my grandfather while she would be a full time housewife or better still be Okoyas 14th wife

biolabee: There is nothing wrong with a woman paying the school fees for her kids after all single mothers do it
My point is that the approach of the man foisting this responsibility and stepping back in the name of equity is wrong

This shd be an issue for both of them to discuss and find sharing percentages or whatever suits them

There are various models to sort this out

Both of them open a joint account to cater for schooling, hospital bills, rent etc. An equitable formula is decided on to do this
But the approach of beating his wife to pass this across should be condemned.

He should remember that if he passes away, she is directly responsbible for his legacy

I also asked u the land he bought, whose name would he have bought it... think again
Men like these would buy it in their own names..

Some bloody inlaws would come in the future and say their borther owned everything
I am against the beating.

When land are bought and even if the man dies, He has children Boys for that matter so In this case I dont think any inlaw would take away anything from her. Legally and traditionally unless they kill her 2 sons.

Reading the post What impression do you get about the woman? A woman who even mentions that she pays her own children hospital bills? I ask if the husband is away would she not take the kids to hospital?

Or one that wants to be thanked for paying 1/3 of her own rent?

if its money for beer, Clothes and enjoyment we might even be having a discussion but money for your own kids hospital bills, your own rent or an asset for your family?

Definitely the woman thinks all the burden should be on the husband while she does whatever she wants with her own money

Based on her post she stated that she pays 1/3 that means the Husband is paying 2/3 of the rent where she lives. Tell me is that not fair enough?

How is the man foisting equality when he pays 2/3 or 60% of major expenses? Is it until he picks the bill 100% that it would be fair?

I ask who pays for the mans rent in Ghana, I am sure if you ask the woman if she contributes to her husbands rent in Ghana she would think its a crazy idea.

trying to force equity on the woman is unwholesome

If he wants to buy land for the family, this is good.. but will their joint names be on the title
On the rent, co-opting her to pay a 40% of the rent is not the way to go,

Soon she will be forced to pay the school fees all in the name of financial equity.. this things can be discussed
There are many families where the man earns less than the woman and it works smoothly

This mans approach is not the way

Well if betuch is real, since there is nothing the man is getting from you.. move away from him for now and then try and work things out before he turns you to aworolo.
Is equity what you call contributing 1/3 of your own rent, 40% of our family investment? or paying your own kids hospital bills?

So when the husband is away, She would wait till he comes before taking the children to hospital simply because she doesnt want to pay? That is grossly irresponsible.

Do you need to tell your partner that she needs to contribute to the finances of the household?

She is paying 1/3 of the rent where the husband doesnt stay most of the time yet she wants to be thanked?

I asked is she also contributing to the rent of where the husband lives in Ghana

And whats wrong with the woman paying the School fees of HER children

So can you tell us what she is contributing to the house, when she expects a thank you for contributing to her own rent, paying her own childrens medical bills

Katsumoto: How so?

You threw the first salvo but Dayo ignored it. But when he threw his, you complained.

He then demonstrated that you threw the first salvo and I made my comment.

Anyway, your posts have revealed a lot about you.
Of course he would come back and say we are the retrogressive yorubas. When he did his own he was ok with it and everyone should be cool with it, when I responded in kind he is now complaining

Is that not similar to "I think by now that should be behind us" when we are talking about the first coup, But when discussing about the Biafra war, he thinks its a justified claim.

Back to the issue, Maybe some other people can enlighten us about the supposed guns Sardauna and Akintola were bringing, the guns that suddently dissapeared on january 16 1966 after they were killed.

Why its an offence punishable by death for Akintola to "romance" with Sardauna, But not enough to kill Azikwe, Okpara, Osadebey and other NCNC people who have been in this romance with Sardauna for a decade.

And on the question of asking why Akintola was learning how to shoot, i think thats the limit. And I asked when Soyinka another civilian who knows how to shoot would be killed

The last few posters really hit the nail on the issue.

There's no time that we don't quarrel be it on the phone or whenever he comes back mainly because of money.he doesn't like spending money, and not that he doesn't have. Even when the children falls sick I am d one dat pays for their hospital bills.
Can you tell your son when he grows up that you saw paying his hospital bill as a huge responsibility. Honestly you dont deserve that child. Its better to give him to someone who cherishes him, Soon you would ask to be reimbursed for the money you use in feeding YOUR child.

Anything that has to be done in the house he must tell me to contribute and I always do. When we first moved to d house we are staying in, I had to pay 1/3 of d total house rent yet he did not say thank u.
Can you tell us what is wrong in contributing in a house you live in? Why should anyone say Thank you for you paying 1/3 of the rent of a building you live in? If you werent married wouldnt you be paying 100% of your rent?

He bought a land for 500k and mandated me to pay 200k, I also did dat.
He bought a land obviously for the two of you and he asked for your 40% contribution, You mean that is too much?

The last time we quarelled abt it he called me all sorts of name.dat I should be ashamed of my self, dat I ve been working and can't get my own car when there are women dat buy cars for there hubby. In fact that apart from the kids that am not valuable to him. That I don't cook or wash for him so he doesn't gain anything from me. I said no problem, and I resolved to buy my own car by december.
And can you be honest to yourself and tell us what you are contributing to the family? When you see hospital bill for your child as a burden, when you think 1/3 of rent is a burden. What kind of parasite are you if i may ask

Now he wants me to pay the house rent.I told him I will contribute 150k while he pays d rest which is 250k but he refused. Unless I should go and look for a cheaper house which I told him I will not do. If he wants he should come and look for d house himself and be ready to stay there with us.
Let me ask you, How much do you contribute to his rent in Ghana where he lives? Probably zero.

he is very ok financially but will rather want me to spend my last kobo rather dan him bring money for d family. I am just fed up with d whole marriage
If you dont spend your last kobo on your family then where do you want to spend it? At the salon or boutique? There are several women out there who are the ones making the money in their family yet they spend on everyone but you think you should keep yours and your husband spend his.

Now back to your husbands question : What does he gain from this marriage?

tomakint: Are you aware of the fact (according to Nzeogwu's interview, 3 days after the coup) that Akintola had started an unnecessary romance with the Sardauna on his Jihad mission and gun-running business (where large cachment of ammunitions were been smuggled into the country. Why is Akintola involved in the game of learning how to shoot with AK-47? Was he a soldier man? he paid dearly with his life because of his betrayal, that serves him right, a traitor of the deepest dye!
What kind of stupid question is this. Akintola started unnecesary Romance with Sardauna was enough reason to be killed but Azikwe and okpara who had been in a 6yr plus romance with Sardauna were not killed. Akintola NNDP went into alliance with NPC and that was the reason he was killed but NCNC that had been in alliance with NPC for donkey years did not lose its leaders?

Gun running which gun running and after they were killed where was the guns smuggled into the country or the guns suddenly dissappeared once they were killed

Akintola learning to shoot? is there a law that prohibits anyone from learning to shoot? Soyinka probably knows how to shoot Was he a soldier man? Maybe some Ibo soldiers should go and kill him because why should he learn how to shoot when he wasnt a soldier.

Are you intentionally trying to sound stupidd?

I get it now, The killing of Akintola, Bello, Balewa etc should be behind us now but the retaliatory killings that happened a few months after should still be in public discussion. I love how you have different standard for issues.

The People who lost loved ones to Ibo soldiers should get over it, But the Ibos who lost loved ones should not get over it.

tomakint: well as an Akintola person (I now understand you better, 'demo ni mowa, boroju mi, o ri nu mi demo ni mowa) we will defintely have every reason to disagree, because I am a big fan of AWO, I see the Akintola Group as traitors to be avoided!
Thats where you got it wrong, Akintola was never a man to hide his opinion about issues, He does not like Ibos and he said it openly. I have heard youtube audio where he spent almost an hour talking about it. That could be one of the reasons Ibos saw him as an obstacle that needed to be killed. Thankfully Akintola has a "nephew" in Adekunle who would revenge in the ratio of 1 to 100,000

I am a Yoruba man like you, unfortunately, I belong to the 'Liberal Group' and not the 'Typical group' where you belong! Most of your commentaries are filled with sophistries, most times diverting attention (of those who are not smart enough to know). Say it for once that you hate the igbos with a passion, I will understand you better!
A good start would be for you to refute his points

I dont agree with katsumoto regarding the Awolowo issue, Infact I am an Akintola person. But in this issue you are yet to refute any of the claims made that the Ibos were the initial agressors and the brought us to the ruins we are currently.

I know Akintolas stand on Ibos and I am in full support of it.

I have asked you since yesterday

"The gross corruption was by Sardauna and the Ibo politicians were saints with halo on their head?. Thats a new one. Do you know what was said about Azikwe regarding corruption during that time?

dont8:

My name is dont8, all protocol duly observed...

I'm here to add to what my 'Teammates' have said so far.

I'll start with the cliche that says, give a woman an inch and she will take a mile, in that regard, the man has to assert his authority/superioty in the relationship, .

What feminist apologists and the male in the opposing team dont realise is that, for a relationship/marriage to work, the woman has to be a sheep, that is, she must be submissive and obedient at the same time, so she knows who the boss is.

What baffles me nowadays is that the church is condoning what the bible frowns /teaches concerning women in the church, because they're not even allow to talk in places of worship, but remain silent and if need be for them to talk, they have to talk to the man she's sitting with,
this shows how God views the importance of man's authority towards women generally.
Excellent points, I hope you extend these teachings to your daughters

The problems with Nigeria stems from bringing completely different people under one roof to live which was Masterminded by the Ibos- Azikwe

The second problem was allowing the military into governance and truncating a democracy. This was done by Ibos

Killing other people and sparing your own is definitely the height of "in-your-face" tribalism and it was started by Ibos

Bringing the unitary system into the country was another point and this was done by another Ibo

There is no problem in Nigeria today that you wont trace to those above

According to you, Nigeria had the golden opportunity to rid Nigeria of its "problem".....then why did they fight against it?

I never understand why people who fought against Biafra, also feel that the Igbo's should not be part of Nigeria.

It was a win win situation for the Igbo's and other Easterners that supported Biafra and those like yourself who feel Igbo's are the problem with Nigeria, right?
When others didnt want Nigeria, Ibos insisted and forced us into the union, They forced the unitary system on us all, They killed all our leaders and spared theirs they truncated democracy in the country and brought the evil military into governance

Now that they have created the problem they must wait in it with us to enjoy it to the fullest.
