Politics › Re: The development problem of Nigeria is not corruption by dblock(m): 8:17am On Jan 30, 2007
Not so sure bout your residency rule, but you are right about corruption not been Nigeria's main problem. But quite frankly I don't think it is representation either. The problem with Nigeria is society, due to the neglect of proper infrastructural investments and proper living nessecities, society in this nation has continued to crumble. You might say corruption is the real issue, but it is because of the crumble of society that there are so many corrupt leaders around, The reason why Nigeria has ethhnic violence is patly due to history but more recently due to society and the mentality of people in the society. What we now have is a system that doesn't function. Think about what I am saying here, If Abacha was brought back to life and he ran for presidency in the US and he won, do you think the consequences of his rule will be anywhere close to his rule in Nigeria. The problem is not corrupt leaders, the problem my friends and enemies is society. What Nigeria needs is a leader that cannot only provide the basic infrastructure but a leader that can revive and implement a proper mentality in society. A leader that can create jobs so that people do not have to result to schemes such as 419 and yes corruption. Corruption wasn't the begining of Nigeria's problems. I think the problem started when the facilties that we had in the nation, like educational faciltites, universites and schools etc. (and believe me, Nigeria had one of the best eductional systems in the continent) were neglected and ignored. The result was people leaving the country to study elsewhere, which inevitably resulted in the lack of skilled workers in the nation, Agriculture crumbled, things that weren't being imported previously now had to be imported, The economy crashed. The Government could no longer mainatain the facilties or invest in new ones. They then realised that the situation was near hopeless and the best decision woul be to fend for themselves(Corruption). So In short what Nigerian leaders have to do now is to reinstitue world class eductional faci;ities into the nation, build more hospitals and recreate the necessary infrastructure the ultimate result would be a more tenacious population and a healthy society.

Seun, una still dey play video game! grin

Anyway, I have played FIFA 2000/2002 (can't remember) on the PC once and I didn't like it at all. It has actually discouraged me from playing soccer games on the PC. But I play soccer very well on PS1 (Winning Eleven) and PS2 (Pro evolution 4 and 5), never played XBOX before.
You're the complete opposite from me. I am a master when it comes to playing Fifa games on a PC. but I can barely play on console. I mean on PC I can unlock practically all the tournaments and stuff, I've even beaten a team 22-0.

Comfort created by youself is a 100 times greater than that which is created by your neighbour

iamnotgod:
How many people do you know that would leave a place of convenience to return to a cave. No disrespect. Human nature seeks comfort not suffering. When people have done without and then they get a taste of having a good thing it takes a strong constitution and selflessness to go back to suffering for the sake of culture or loyalty. Let's be honest, there is nothing wrong with being reluctant to return to a place where one can make little difference. If they can make a difference by sending money home, do it. It is easy to cry that someone is a traitor when you have not been anywhere, wait until you taste the honey and see if you prefer to eat the lemons abi.

Nigeris isn't the second poorest in that either, check your stats wink

Yes we should jump off bridges, and i believe these projects will be seen through. You've gotta have faith in your country despite what little things past administrations may have achieved. Faith my friend is  a great quality, if every Nigerian had faith things would be a lot better. faith isn't looking at statistics and then making an analysis, faith is believing in something regardless-------But really I think these projects will be seen through and I hope that I am in Nigeria to jump off a bridge then. wink
