PoliticsRe: What's In It For Nigeria In The Africa Free Trade Agreement by deandavid(op): 3:56am On Jul 14, 2019
Virtually all African countries signed the free trade zone pact over a year ago, Nigeria and South Africa initially abstained. Now that Nigeria decided to join, given the fact that virtually all of Africa needs Nigeria more than we need them given the size of our economy and access to raw materials whose movement tariff free within Africa would boost other economies, why didn’t Nigeria insist on Housing the free trade zones headquarters as a prerequisite for joining the zone? Our leaders just cannot see the future.

Last week South Africa became the 65th country offering visa free entry to holders of Ghanaian passports. Leadership is all about Capacity and vision, it is obvious Ghana is getting it right.

Nigeria has everything required to lead Africa. We have the intellectuals, we have the wealth, we have great men with vision, but focused and visionary leadership has remained a challenge since independence. Ethnicity, religion, zoning and primitive partisanship has continued to hold us back. We pray our children in their own generation wakes up the sleeping giant. Africa shall rise again.

PoliticsWhat's In It For Nigeria In The Africa Free Trade Agreement by deandavid(op): 3:46am On Jul 14, 2019
If you're Nigerian.. Read this!

Personal Opinion!

African leaders on Sunday voted to choose Ghana as the new headquarters to House the new Africa free trade zone. Coming with the new trade zone is a new airline hub for Africa to be built in Ghana.

14 years ago Donald Duke had initiated discussions on the need for an airline hub to serve Africa to be situated in calabar. Unfortunately the dream died with Tinapa.

It is important that Africa has its own hub, but unfortunately our political leadership just do not understand how these things work, so they never take it serious. From Nigeria, to travel to most African countries within Africa, you have to first travel either to Frankfurt or Amsterdam before you can connect to headquarters of most African countries. CGI will be financing an airlines hub in Ghana following the situating of the Africa free trade zone in Ghana.

Under the Addis Ababa-based African Union’s rules, all of its 55 members may bid to host the headquarters. Kenya, Ghana, eSwatini, Madagascar and Egypt where all in the race. Ethiopia and Senegal pulled out. On Sunday Ghana emerged. Almighty Nigeria was not even mentioned or considered.

This is what a good visionary leadership brings to its people. Ghana political leadership since Rawlings has stabilized. Ghanaians understand the importance of electing very educated people to lead their country.

Take for example, United Nations headquarters is in New York, it couldn’t be in Togo or Venezuela because America provides world leadership, naturally America had to house the UN, that’s how it works.

Second , America provides the bulk of UN funding, so traditionally they have to house the UN, the same argument goes as to why America houses the World Trade Center and the world bank.

Now, Nigeria is the largest economy in Africa, we finance and fund Ecowas and makes a significant commitment and contribution to African Union. Housing the headquarters of the African free trade zone should not even be in contention, it should naturally come to us, but when our leaders seem not to understand the value we hold in global affairs new comers poke their hands in our eyes.

To be factual, but we need a leadership and a team of advisers that knows what to do and how the international system works if Nigeria must rise again.

Gradually Nigeria has lost her birthright, lost her big brother status. If not, how do you explain the fact that the African free trade zone headquarters is not in Lagos or Abuja rather it is going to Ghana and Africa airlines hub is also going to Ghana?

The was a time all of Africa quakes when Nigeria roars, what has happened to the giant of Africa? Gradually the giant of Africa has lost its seniority in the committee of nations to little Ghana, a country with a population a little above cross river state. Ghana is what it is today because of investments from Nigeria. If all Nigerian investments are withdrawn from Ghana, their entire economy may not compete with that of Eti ~OSA local government of Lagos state.

See what good leadership has turned Ghana to. It has become a place we send our kids to attend good schools because our school system has lost it.

This all started when we refused to welcome black Americans who wanted to relocate to Nigeria and help develope an African country. Our Senate turned down the offer, Ghana opened her doors, gave 250 black Americans automatic Ghanaian citizenship. The positive PR that gesture has given Ghana among the worlds nations is enormous.

PoliticsLagos State Please Stop Rewarding Hooliganism Else You Destroy Your State by deandavid(op): 2:41pm On Mar 23, 2019
I had to put this little writeup out because im beginning to see Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State play out in the centre of excellence (Lagos State)
You guys may not understand what i am talking about yet, let me just give a little information about Uvwie Kingdom. Uvwie Kingdom is a city located before Warri, it plays host to Warri Refinery, Nigerian Gas, PPMC, Nestoil, Deawoo, Chevron, Petroleum Training Institute,A Federal University, Shoprite, Protea Hotel and all the most exotic hotels and multinationals in Delta State, the Uvwie Kingdom is actually the new commercial nerve centre of Delta State, not Warri anymore.

But in the last 2 decades, the kingdom status has been declining and now known for problems, killings, thuggery, dirty environment, insecurity and other negative things, all these things didnt start today, it actually started when many of the educated people in the Kingdom began to focus more on building personal careers thereby, leaving the political leadership to Agberos(NURTW), just like you are doing with MC Olomo now.

They didnt only do that, they started making the Agberos very relevant by giving them attention, praising them, giving them chieftaincy titles, they now call the shot, they decide who the candidate of parties and eventual winners of election would be in Uvwie , (Just exactly what you guys are doing with MC OLOMO and his acolytes)

My Lagos People, it will interest you to know that since the time of Friday Ani (The then Uvwie Motor Park Chairman, who later became the executive Chairman of the local government ) in 1999 till date, it has always been the stakeholders (Excos) of NURTW, Uvwie Chapter who become Chairmen and other political positions in the Kingdom.

They have grown so powerful and it just seems like power cant be taken from them anymore, because they have soldiers of school dropouts like themselves who are loyal to them. the Governor of the State even make some of them as S.A.s and Aides.

This is exactly the precedent you Yoruba people are creating in Lagos Now, MC Olomo has become powerful, they will soon start deciding who become governors, if not they themselves become governors, your children will see no reason to go school anymore, they want to become MC Olomu in future, our dear centre of excellence will be swallowed by mediocres, touts and crack heads just like as Uvwie is now.

And you know what, If you dont decisive action NOW, Uvwie's problem will be child's play by then.

A word is enough for the Wise....

This your analogy is wrong please, there's no true or better or Gods own nation than the Jews or Israelites.
Look at their Country, they are blessed, they are developed, why can't we be like that.
The answer is simple, its LEADERSHIP.
Let's get our leadership right and all will be well with us.
God is even angry with us and with many men of God.
We can't be serving him this much and not prosper, its either we are doing something wrong or we are doing something wrong.
And yes what we are doing wrong is we are not voting the right leaders.
My advice, On election day go and vote righteous men. Because according to the Bible, Righteousness Exaults a Nation.
APC and PDP do not meet that criteria whatsoever, vote for AAC.
Vote for Omoyele Sowore for president.

Sowore's goal to become Nigeria's president in 2019 is neither achievable, realistic or timely!

undecided
for the fact that you are too timid to dream big, shouldnt stop people from dreaming and achieving theirs. He is more than qualified to be president of Nigeria. the question you should ask yourself is, can a PMB or Atiku stand SOWORE in ideas and intellect? if you dont know, let me give you a simple analogy; take a look at a 5 years old of this age and time, look at their capability and compare them to yourself when you were at that age, were you able to do the things the children of this age can do?
in simple terms, the ideas and vision available to the Sowore of this generation is far more superior to that of PMB and ATIKU

PoliticsWhy The Church Must Be Involved In Politics by deandavid(op): 9:21pm On Jul 22, 2018
You will agree with me that the quality of leaders and governance is far less than we deserve to have today.
The leaders we have today are mediocre, opportunist and morally
bankrupt. And that is why we have so many gates popping up every
week: Dieziani gate, Dasuki gate, Maina gate, Malabu oil deal and so many other high level multibillion dollars related cases.
The public institutions have been bastardized. Almost all sectors in our country practice nepotism, tribalism and many other anti-unity, anti-people policies.
The leaders we have are unrepentant looters, there is youth
unemployment everywhere. All of these boil down to one single factor:
bad governance.
There is an old saying that goes thus: when the head is rotten, the
other parts of the body are lost.
Over the years, since I have grown to adulthood, I discovered that our
choices of leaders have been very poor; we have wrong leaders at all
levels of government. And the reason we have this kind of leadership
is because morally upright men and women, or the evangelicals don’t
participate in political processes. And because of that, the church
has been relegated to the background. The church has left a vacuum
that thieves and less conscientious people have occupied.
The irony is that, these morally bankrupt people will begin to make
laws that either undermine our faith or do not favour the church and
masses.
As Christians, we may choose to fast, pray and speak in tongue, but if
we do not crown it with good work, it’s in futility.
In the Catholic Church, we have been praying for
“Nigeria in distress”, praying against bribery and corruption for over
a decades.
Even though I believe our prayers have been answered, but the church still
needs to push.
This is why even when we pray for pregnant women, to deliver like the
Hebrew women, the Lord answers, but still requires the women to push!
How is the church pushing? We are not pushing, we need to push.
His word says, right from the days of John the Baptist, the kingdom of
God suffered violence, but now that he has come, Zion will take it by
force.
After careful analysis and insight by the Holy Spirit, we have come to
the conclusion that the ultimate solution to Nigeria's leadership problems lies
in the hands of the church.
These are what we do preach; love, goodness, uprightness, accountability,
fairness, justice, peace truthfulness and all the gifts of the Holy
Spirit.
That is the solution, we need Holy Spirit filled men and women at the
helm of affairs of government.
The church needs to start encouraging the next generation to seek for
public offices. As a matter of fact, the church needs to even sponsor
candidates to contest elections.
Because as the saying goes, he who pays the piper, dictates the tune.
Let the church dictate the tune. And in order to do this, you need to be ready to sponsor your own financially, morally and otherwise.
Encourage your youth to join political parties and run for offices. God bless you

PoliticsConsequences Of Being Educated But Politically Illiterate: Dilemma? by deandavid(op): 8:08pm On Mar 28, 2018
Like the young Mrs Toyosi usually say, our problem is actually not youth unemployment, but “employability” of our youth, when many of our youths haven gone through the four walls of a higher institution but cannot rationalise his or her environment, cannot use intuition to fix things, they are not creative, they are politically ignorant, doesn’t understand the implication of not getting involved in governance. All these are not actually the fault of this graduate, the education system in the country and the quality of education here is very poor and cannot make a total man.

This is the reason why It seems like the more educated we are, the more politically unaware we become. Because with all the knowledge we have acquired in school, we still act like people who don’t have awareness, we see no reason to participate in politics, we hear things like “E No Concern Me”, “Who Politics Help”, “Politics is a dirty game” and all those unintelligent talk.

Our society has programmed us to think in a certain way which is referred to as the “Normal Life” of just going to primary school, secondary school, go to university, graduate, get a job, get married, have children, get promoted, retire and die, what a “Normal Life”

But life is much more than this, one ought to think and act on how to improve the lives around them, impact the society positively. Just like as we met a better world of ease of doing things, our future generation expect to meet even a better one, It’s the responsibility we owe the next generation. The truth is, if we don’t change our mind-sets as enlightened people we will continue to have the worse of us, rule over the rest and the best of us, we will continue to grapple with all problems and challenges as little as clean drinking water, healthcare etc. in this country.

We may not know this, as much as we (youths) are the solution to the leadership problem in our country; we are also the biggest victims of poor leadership. I mean those of us who do not carry arms, law abiding, don’t do drugs, educated, committed religiously, “Good Youths” in summary, we are of a truth, the worst hit by the incompetency of our leaders.

In the sense that we may have laboured to go through the rigorous experience and training of tertiary institutions, invested so much money in educating ourselves, we are still the ones who suffer unemployment, underemployment, hunger, poverty, delayed in settling down, frustration, etc.

On the other hand, the not very educated, and uneducated who make trouble, do drugs, carry arms, become militants, kidnappers, touts etc. the irony is its these guys that get all the attention from the government, they get political patronage, get amnesty packages, get paid monthly for doing nothing order than causing troubles and most times they even become community, local and state leaders.

The result of this, is what we are witnessing today in Nigeria (a near failed state), it’s also as a result of we the “Good Guys” not getting involved, getting too comfortable with the “Normal Life”

As Good Youths, If we can galvanise, educate and organise ourselves to start changing the narrative, it will not only be better for us but better for all Nigerians and the future generations to come.

We are therefore appealing to the conscience of all our enlighten men and women, young and old, to rise up to the occasion, let’s do our bits by getting involved, as Mahatma Gandhi said, Satisfaction lies in the effort, not in the attainment, full effort is full victory.

God Bless the Awakened Youths.

God Bless Nigeria.

We will want to make this very clear, to all those who still think giving the youth and the younger generation chance to lead is not right. Aside the fact that the old generals (OBJ, IBB) are only stating the very obvious and inevitable need for this shift, For our country and continent to move forward we need this generation of youth to rise to power, because all through the last 2 industrial revolutions, Nigeria and Africa has not been able to catch up, we missed the first industrial revolution that started all the way back in the 17th & 18th century, ok let’s say it is not so bad we missed that because a lot of other countries in the world like China, Japan and Singapore didn’t catch up with that one, the 2nd industrial revolution came, a lot of countries with strong leaders got their countries and continent started, we saw Asia doing great, till date we have not been able to develop our steel, a technology of 18th century?, we are still battling how to harness our coal and textile industry, something, the West has mastered since 1800s. All through second industrial revolutions till date our leaders have been irresponsible and visionless, stealing our wealth and allowing our best brain go develop other countries.

Now we are heading towards the 3rd industrial revolution which is the digital revolution, are we still going to be left behind? We dont expect, this old men who cant even open an email lead us into this revolution, If we are not going to be left behind, then it will only take the digital youth of this age, the smart phone, social media gurus, the IT tech generation to lead Nigeria into this revolution.

My fellow Nigerians, Youths in particular, this is the time to think of the future, think of tomorrow, think beyond stomach infrastructure and support young intelligent people to lead us in this journey of revolution.

Thank You

God bless the Awakened Nigerian Youths

God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Our Strategy is easy and straight forward. We are Creating a Pool of Youth leaders from the church, we are also Mobilizing to reach as many States as possible before 2019 election.

THE YOUTHS AWAKENING MOVEMENT’S VISION, MISSION & STRATEGY
Vision: To awaken the morally upright and intellectually sound youth to be involved in policymaking and governance also creating a platform for them to aspire and contest for public offices.
Mission: To make the youths more aware of how much they can contribute to building our country and to bring them together to form a formidable unit to speak and promote good governance.
• Massive publicity for the movement using the most efficient and cost effective means especially the social media and internet. (The people needs to be aware of the change happening around them so that they can key into the vision of the movement because the movement is about them)
• Door –to-Door, Person-to-Person, Face-to-Face Sensitization/ Mobilization in local areas
• Take the campaign to Zion (It is God in whom all wisdom and power belongs to, he gave the vision. Because unless it is the LORD who builds the house, the builders' work is pointless. Unless it is the LORD who protects the city, the guard on duty is pointless.)
• Get members of various churches in the communities, LGA and States involved in the movement (There is no better place to get morally upright youths than the church)
• Spreading the movement’s ideology, vision and mission and reach out to the public(We can’t do it alone)
• Form various teams in each locality/Units/Wards/LGA/States (Pool of like minds)
• Getting the movement members to register for their voter’s card (Moving from just talking to getting involved in the political processes)
• Aligning and Integrating movement’s members into a new political party that have same vision with the movement’s ideology (New wine in a new skin)
