Christianity EtcWhy The Church Must Get Involved by deandavid(op): 7:29pm On Dec 06, 2017
WHY THE CHURCH MUST BE INVOLVED IN POLITICS
You will agree with me that the quality of leaders and governance is
far less than we deserve to have today.
The leaders we have today are mediocre, opportunist and morally
bankrupt. And that is why we have so many gates popping up every
week: Dieziani gate, Dasuki gate, Maina gate, Malabu oil deal and so
many other high level multibillion dollars related cases.
The public institutions have been bastardized. Almost all sectors in
our country practice nepotism, tribalism and many other anti-unity,
anti-people policies.
The leaders we have are unrepentant looters, there is youth
unemployment everywhere. All of these boil down to one single factor:
bad governance.
There is an old saying that goes thus: when the head is rotten, the
other parts of the body are lost.
Over the years, since I have grown to adulthood, I discovered that our
choices of leaders have been very poor; we have wrong leaders at all
levels of government. And the reason we have this kind of leadership
is because morally upright men and women, or the evangelicals don’t
participate in political processes. And because of that, the church
has been relegated to the background. The church has left a vacuum
that thieves and less conscientious people have occupied.
The irony is that, these morally bankrupt people will begin to make
laws that either undermine our faith or do not favour the church and
masses.
As Christians, we may choose to fast, pray and speak in tongue, but if
we do not crown it with good work, it’s in futility.
In the Catholic Church, we have been praying for
“Nigeria in distress”, praying against bribery and corruption for over
a decades.
Even though I believe our prayers have been answered, but the church still
needs to push.
This is why even when we pray for pregnant women, to deliver like the
Hebrew women, the Lord answers, but still requires the women to push!
How is the church pushing? We are not pushing, we need to push.
His word says, right from the days of John the Baptist, the kingdom of
God suffered violence, but now that he has come, Zion will take it by
force.
After careful analysis and insight by the Holy Spirit, we have come to
the conclusion that the ultimate solution to Nigeria's leadership problems lies
in the hands of the church.
These are what we do preach; love, goodness, uprightness, accountability,
fairness, justice, peace truthfulness and all the gifts of the Holy
Spirit.
That is the solution, we need Holy Spirit filled men and women at the
helm of affairs of government.
The church needs to start encouraging the next generation to seek for
public offices. As a matter of fact, the church needs to even sponsor
candidates to contest elections.
Because as the saying goes, he who pays the piper, dictates the tune.
Let the church dictate the tune. And in order to do this, you need to
be ready to sponsor your own financially, morally and otherwise.
I encourage you to pray about this, you will know I am speaking the truth. So
the awakened youth of the church will be coming to you, Bishops,
Pastors, Evangelists and Priests. Don’t turn us down. Encourage your youth to join the movement.  God bless you.

PoliticsThe Youth Awakening Movement by deandavid(op): 7:14pm On Dec 06, 2017
Do you know that the poor leadership of today is largely responsible for the woes we are facing as a country?
Do you know that our present leaders met a better country than what we have now?
Do you know that our leaders are short changing the future of our generations unborn?
Do you know that our present leaders at all levels are not ready to relinquish power for the next generation and that they have used their time, used our father's time, currently using our own time and still ready to use that of our children's?
Do you know that the best and most prosperous time Nigeria ever had, was when, younger men and women served as leaders?
Are you tired of the incompetencies and greed of our leaders at all levels (local, state and national)?
Are you fed of the whole situation in Nigeria?
Do you desire to see a positive change in the country?
Are you fed up of recycled leaders?
Do you think we can do better than this?
Are you intelligent, vibrant, people oriented and not
morally corrupt?

Then Join the YOUTHS AWAKENING MOVEMENT and get involved.

The youths awakening movement is a sociopolitical movement with a vision to awaken the morally upright and intellectually sounds youths to get involved in policy making and governance by creating a platform for them to aspire, contest, influence, contribute and assume leadership positions in Nigeria. As they are the only panacea to the quagmire the country is experiencing.
"Politics is too serious a matter to be left to the politicians"- Charles De Gaulle.
We can't continue burying our heads in the sand. A Wiseman once said "the only thing necessary to do for evil to prevail is that good men do nothing.
The time to get involved  is now, stop complaining and act.

Its like you are new in this country. Try am na. You go see yourself for guard room. Incomplete Uniform means nothing, If you are familiar with Nigerian scene, you will know that this solider could have been attached to a big politician in that area or even employed in the street as night guard, they stay in the area. Its common now, most street with big men have soldiers guarding them and they dont always wear complete uniforms, especially in the evenings.

Answer this simple question:
Nigeria is self sufficient in cement production, including its raw materials. So how come,d price has doubled in d past one year?
-Nigeria has substantially(@least according to govt propaganda) increased local rice production and processing. How come price of local rice is almost same as imported rice?
-They sed Naira was losing value because most $ were used to import fuel, rice, putting pressure on d dollar.Fuel import has decreased, ditto rice, cement. There shud b less pressure on d $ theoretically. How come, with less demand on d dollar by former dollar gulpers, the naira has recorded its worst exchange rate to date($=500)?
-They also sed dey have blocked leakages and curbed corruption. Why is it not reflecting also on d dollar exchange because we know a cause of d poor naira rate was d corrupt people who used their stolen Naira billions to exchange for dollars, for safe keeping. But naira is worse off despite govt claims.
The answers to d above is d same, crass incompetence.PMB never had what I for one always thought he had:ability to lead,a plan in place and ability to analyze simple issues and take a right decision. He is dull and deceived my likes with pretences to aving some sound education, integrity and leadership ability.

PoliticsRegret Voting Buhari by deandavid(op): 12:07pm On Feb 05, 2017
THIS IS THE “CHANGE” WE VOTED FOR!

Some people glamourize regret as if regret is a virtue or an endowment. All some posers need to do to remain relevant on social media is to say they regret voting Buhari. Others less imaginative ask, “Is this the change we voted for?” Whenever I hear these, I am reminded that loyalty is a high-price commodity.

What are you regretting? If you really voted “Change”, what did you have in mind? Instead of reveling in your ignorance, should you not be ashamed that you lacked the basic understanding of what you espoused? At your age and with your level of education you still dance to every beat? Shame!

This is the “Change” I campaigned and voted for. From inception, I know real, lasting change comes at a high cost and discomfort. Have you ever attempted to change your life, weight, values or complexion? Did it come cheap or easy?

Why do many people fail to live up to their New Year resolutions? Genuine change at any level is tough and cruel at first. Nigeria will not be an exception.

What happens when corporate organizations decide to change processes and procedures in the workplace? It is usually resisted because most people prefer the status quo. Corporate changes like mergers, acquisitions and reconstructions create imbalance and uncertainties in the concerned entities. I know a man whose workforce reduced by 75% when he restructured (or effected change) in his company. Today, the same man is shouting his voice hoarse that Buhari’s change is draconian and insensitive. Hypocrite!

How do we become self-sufficient in food production? The answer is simple: make heavy investments in agriculture and ban importation of foods that deplete our foreign reserve. Take rice for instance. As long as there are no restrictions on the importation of rice, local farmers will not grow rice and our exotic taste buds will not be retrained. If I were Buhari, I would put a total ban on the importation of rice.
Take cars, fabrics and wines (and spirits) for another instance. Something drastic needed to be done about our appetite for cars, clothes and wines. The cumulative costs of importing this trio into Nigeria consumed a substantial share of our foreign reserve. Buhari says NO. He argues that if you must use these imports, then be ready to pay a premium price for them. This is simple logic and economics. This is especially so since global oil price has dwindled and tempers are high in the Niger Delta.

Goods are more expensive in Nigeria today because Buhari insists that most of the products we import can and should be produced locally. By so doing, he has flung open unending investment and job opportunities for Nigerians especially. While reserving limited foreign exchange for some critical sectors of the economy, Buhari is urging them to make hay while the sun shines. Buhari is CHANGING the way we live, and the pains we now experience are his instruments of CHANGE. You can only take it, but you can’t reject it.

Why is Buhari putting these strategic restrictions on our consumption patterns? If you are PDP or a hater, these restrictions are to punish Nigerians. But to the dispassionate observer, Buhari’s stance is the most effective route to Nigeria’s escape from economic doldrums festered by inordinate importation of all and every product. Some countries in Asia, Africa and North America have provided infallible precedents to what Buhari has set out to do.

What has happened so far? Buhari is in a mad hurry to fix the refineries. About 6 states are now producing rice in commercial quantities. Cross River state has almost completed what is arguably the largest textile mill in Africa. Buhari is challenging Nigerians to introspect and unleash their creative geniuses. Unfortunately, politics is providing a distracting counter-intuition to these breath-taking developments.

Where will Nigeria be in 10 years if we continue (or forced to continue) to look inwards? Imagine what will happen if we continue to produce a larger chunk of what we eat, wear and drink. Imagine when Aba, Sokoto, Nnewi, Kano, Ondo, Osun, Benue and Nasarawa turn natural endowments into skills. Imagine when our universities and polytechnics wake up. Imagine when our industries and blue-chip companies begin to produce. Only a bold step like Buhari’s CHANGE will give form to these imaginations.

If you did not understand Buhari’s change, it is not Buhari’s fault. Regretting voting Buhari says so much about your character. Asking “Is this the change we voted for?” is the clearest indication that you must never be taken seriously again.

I'm already tired of commenting on Nairaland because there seems to be so many fo.ols here that lacks the capacity for effective thinking and posses great capacity for stupidity. Or maybe nairaland is now just full of kids running around like many people have kept saying.

All have been hearing are cries of)

"Jibril is not a saint"
"Why didn't he say anything before"
"It's because their relationship have gone sour"
"Jibril too have benefited from budget padding"

Don't you silly people know that is something that will be the cause of something? A situation can arise that can make a person change his mind and decide to be no more part of something that is wrong.

Who can expose best the corruption that goes on in the house? Is it an outsider? Who exactly are you expecting that will do it? Femi Falana or Magu?

And when or if God decides to do something about a bad system, are these not the kind of ways he uses?

How was the systemic established culture of slavery of blacks in the US abolished? Is it not part of the people in the system that turned against the system and started fighting it?

In US history, notorious mafia gangs have been brought most times because for one reason or the other, an insider turned against the establishment he has been part and parcel of.

Even when Jibril has been benefiting from all those fraudulent allowances and budget paddings of the past, in heart he may have been troubled.

Let me let you know, an unsettling would have already been in his heart for him to come out this way exposing the House . Something does not come out of nothing. If at heart, Jibril is as crooked and conscience-less as the rest, he would have made a deal and continue enjoying the gains from the House. Even the supposed Mr. Integrity, Femi Gbajamila is part of the syndicate trying to silence Jibril and we have come to know why.

What is happening can only lead to huge benefits for the country so why are some people complaining?

The systemic corruption in Nigeria's National Assembly cannot come to a stop unless something dramatic happens to herald the change.

I only wonder why Jibril's claims are not being investigated by the relevant agencies.
Bros you made my day. I was just wondering if all the young people on this country has finally lost it.your post just gave me hope.

The answer you seek has two possibilities 1. Impeaching the president going by the Constitution is almost impossible.
2.but just in case the national assembly was able amend and perform magic to make the impeachment possible, 2 things could happen 1. The masses will revolt especially the north and western youths, they might start killing the elite, anarchy will be the order of the day, Syria go be learner . 2.
