solomon111: See this paid hack.émi paid ke..e b like say u be learner. Wel d only reason i am sounding like a paid hack is becos i hav gotten myself involved, and i am following barr. Keyamo bumper 2 bumper. Since thr is no provisn 4 independent candidacy, d best platform 4 him is d alternative party(APC) as for nasarawa people i ll say, them no get luck, because u cnt tel me thr wont b judas or black sheep in d apc, mayb their gov na 1 of d black sheep. But as 4 keyamo, we trust am, we knw am wella. |

Nd if u no fit, den beta join the alternative party, that at least hav a msg of change. Jst try dem, even if u tink all are d same. ONLY A FOOL DOES D SAME TIN OVA AND OVA AGAIN AND EXPECT A CHANGE. |
timowale: I see no revolution happening here.what i see is corruption having a change of batton.if really, the nation is going to witness revolution, all hands must be on deck to checkmate this powerful monster that have continued to eat deeper into our politicking.A party that engages in looting and stealing public fund can not be an alternative but partner in corruption.how do u want to do dat, if nt by getting involved |
jmoore: APC=PDPu urself hav u changed ur orientatn, r u prepared 4 change. APC is a new party, why nt go join and be part of those who ll stand firm to do the right tins, instead of being a pissimistic loser. |
[quote author=oko-oloyun]Yeye man! So na dis kind of revolution he dey talk, all of them na thief.[/quote]bro if u r lookin 4 a bloody revolution, sorry no Nigeria want to die(except d boko brain washd guys),hence a quite revolution to oust the present crops of leaders in our nation. Dnt take d back seat people, be involved in this revolution, be part of those who made history, dnt watch tins happen, make tins happen,so dat ur children's children ll b proud of u. |
For those that are in doubt, i wouldnt blame u, our govt hav so washed and cheated us 4 so long that we do not have hope again, even wen we see hope, we wouldnt know. But i promise u all deltans, if we cn give half of d support we gave great ogboru to keyamo, i bet u, he ll clear pdp swiftly. KEYAMO... NO VOILENCE DELTA FORCES UNITED...NA OUR HAND E DEY ÀPC... CHANGE....... CHANGE...All over the NATION...... |
emk4lif: Keyamo is obviously the best candidate but he has no chance at winning, I am from delta state and I can tell you it is a straight battle between ighoyota amori of PDP and ede dafinone of DPP, keyamo would end up a distant third, that's the sad reality of politics in the niger deltamy friend, u said he is d best qualified candidate, and u r stil doubtin? If i may ask, whr do u stand, for mediocrity and plunderin of our wealth or for accountability, competency and progress? Who would u vote 4? If u agree keyamo is d best, den vote 4 him, let, protect ur vote, and let keyamo and God do their own work. D time has come, we cnt continue like dis. |
Rexphobia: What benefits will members enjoy aside the regular token of salt, Maggi, match boxes and max of 1,000 nairaU MEAN WHAT PDP HAS BEEN DOING ALL THIS YEARS............NO APC ISNT GOING TO BE DOING THAT, THEY ARE TRUE DEMOCRATS. JUST WATCH THE SLOW AND STEADY MOVEMENT......... |
ifebosco: he was doing his job as a layerand he calls himself human right activist...........wch humans, the ones dat steals our money....... or the helpless nigerians on the street.....human right activists are suppose to be selfless, like barr. keyamo and not taking money from crooks like lawal foruk |
from his comments, i will choose the part where he said state of emergency should be declared on unemployment and development of youths, renegotiate our existence as a nation, practice true federalism and finally state police[though should be the last, after the formers have been implemented] but for amnesty, no o, that is more like encouraging and rewarding criminality, even if they want to forgive those kidnappers, it shouldnt be amnesty. |
‘I will commit suicide than joining PDP’ Human rights activist and lawyer Festus Keyamo is a senatorial aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Delta Central District. He spoke with WALE AJETUNMOBI on his plans for the zone. What is your mission in politics? It is no news again that we have declared for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State. And the reason is because we understand the need for all the progressive forces in the country to come together. We also realise the need for a strong coalition to confront the menace of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). That is why we think that, whatever reservation we may have as individuals about certain individuals, who are also coming into the APC; the most important thing for us is to bury our differences as opposition parties to the PDP and come together to fight the PDP. And I am sure you know that I am even the last convert, the last convert because, all the so-called radicals have all gone into politics, including my late boss, Chief Gani Fawehinmi. But I have since kept away from politics because I felt that, perhaps, I could still make a huge difference as a private person. I have tried my best as a private person and I am sure you have followed the course of my struggle for sometimes. So, I have a strong conviction going into politics because I have seen even the limitations I have as a private person. I know that I will have a bigger voice if I have a bigger platform to express myself. I am sure you saw recently that the senators did not even know the power they have over the appointment of Service Chiefs; it took my effort to go to court and it was a four-year legal battle that culminated into a judgment in my favour, that in fact, the President cannot appoint the Service Chiefs without the concurrence of the Senate. But they, themselves, did not know the extent of their power; all of these I did as a private person, not as a senator. Recently, I sent a memo to the National Assembly about how to speed up corruption trials and constitutional amendment. It was a very detailed suggestion on how to amend the Constitution. But I was doing all of these as a private person. So you can see that this is not an overnight brainwave, that I have woken up overnight and said I want to be a senator. No. There are other highly qualified aspirants on the field… Permit me to say, and with the greatest respect to other aspirants, there is no single aspirant in Delta Central, that comes one mile near to what I have achieved in promoting constitutional democracy. Not one of them. So, if you are talking about somebody, who is a square peg in a square hole or a round peg in a round hole, please, it cannot be anybody but myself for this job. And they all agreed, if you ask all of them. Even the supporters of the other parties, they agreed that Keyamo is the best for this job, ‘but…’ they will now bring other things… ‘he has been a lawyer and he has been doing well…leave this for politicians…’ But the question I ask is this: in the last 20 years or so, I have grown up in the eyes of the public; everybody can account for everywhere I have been and every position I have taken. You may like me or hate; you may detest me, but you cannot deny the fact that, for the last 20 years, I have spoken up my mind on every issue. So, I am not hidden; it will be a surprise, if I take a position in the public and somebody says na Keyamo dey talk this? It is because they know the position I would normally take. Now, do you want to vote for people, who you don’t even know where they stand on issues? Look at all the aspirants, you cannot say of any of them that you know where they stand on any issue. Not one. And I am serious about this; not one. What are your programmes for the people in your senatorial district? I have released a six-page document and I passed it round to everybody. Even your newspaper, The Nation, has used it. I am the only person that has done so. The six-page document is on why I want to be in the Senate and what I intend to do. I have talked about the consumers’ rights protection bill I intend to propose; I have talked about corporate manslaughter bill that the late Senator Ewherido was pursuing before he died, that I intend to continue. I have talked about even the Aladja Steel Complex, what I intend to do as a senator to make sure that I touch the right button to even revive it. I also talked about this judgment I got on the part of the Senate and I want to make sure that they implement that judgment and to make sure that they exercise the right power. I have also said that I will be the first senator in the history of Nigeria, and I am saying this on tape and you know I will do it, to publish my salary and allowances. I will be the first to run a very transparent tenure. Every three months, I will publish my activities in the Senate. It would be an innovation that every quarter, I will be publishing my activities in the Senate to my constituents and Nigerians. Those are the types of things I want to do differently because, the normal question to ask is: ‘ what are you doing differently?’ but that exactly is the type of innovation I want to bring into the senate. I want to plead; for many years, The Nation’s editorial slant has always been: let good people come out to run. That is the totality of all your editorials, that we do not deserve the leaders we have; but we keep lamenting that nobody wants to take the plunge. People are saying I am going into murky waters of politics; I am sure many people believe I am a mad person now. They would say: ‘ you have done so well as a lawyer, you have reached your height… what are you doing here?’ But I asked a simple, which I have been asking for the past one year when I made up my mind, I have not gotten an answer. The simple question is: if people who are successful in their individual professions like us should remain where they are, who should run for public office? Nobody has provided an answer. Does it mean you will jettison your governorship ambition? Absolutely not. Governorship is in 2015, this is 2013. There is a vacancy in the Senate. So, 2015 is still faraway. But then, it has afforded me an opportunity to write an examination for people to see how much I can handle public office. If I did not do well, they can easily tell me to sit at home. But this time, I will have less to talk and more to do. If I win the Senate seat, my work would speak for me more than my rhetoric this time. Because it would now be a situation of, here is how I can do it. So, I will not talk too much again. If I am running as a private person, I have to talk and talk, and beg people to convince them that I can also handle public office. But if I run for the Senate now, I would do less talking and more work, for my work will speak for myself. Why APC and not PDP or other parties? I have said it before, that if the PDP is the last party on earth, then I would commit suicide. If they say for me to continue to live, that I must join the PDP, I will rather commit suicide. The PDP is an amalgam of the most undemocratic forces I have seen on earth, where 16 is more than 19 in the arithmetic of the party; where five people are more than 27 people in Rivers State House of Assembly to impeach a governor. It is only in Africa, and in Nigeria, it is only in the PDP that you can find that kind of arithmetic. I will not be part of that arithmetic because to be part of that arithmetic, I will have to go back to Primary One and I don’t want to go back to Primary One. How do you intend to win people in DPP, where the late Senator Ewerido belonged, over to the APC? I think many of them realise that if you are serious opposition in this country now, you have to be in APC. That is the truth of the matter; there is no gainsaying it. That is why you see people like us, hard converts, going into politics going into APC. It is only coalition of serious-minded opposition now. If DPP is an opposition to the PDP in Delta State, and they know they are serious, they know, too, that the only place they should come to is APC. You can see many of them are coming over to the APC now. With very much respect to the leaders of the DPP in Delta State, we know that it is only a matter of time for all them to be in the APC. It can’t be too long. http://thenationonlineng.net/new/i-will-commit-suicide-than-joining-pdp/ |
saintvc: Buhari is old .....we need young bloodin as much as i wnt a new sets of young leaders in aso rock, but the question remains, who is young, corrupt free Nigerian that can wrestle power from this present pdp leadership........looking at pdp critically, eventhe young ones they are corrupt. so what do we do........ |
Mitch D Leo: Thats the truth they've already decided who will lead the country from among their own children that they send abroad for educationo yea, and u dnt think u can do anything abt it..............omashe o... hope is really really slim... as for me i will not relent, i will force my way and join the ruling class. and how do i do that...........its by getting involved, getting my ass off nairaland and play active role in politics, from my unit, ward, local govt and state. that's our only hope right now. i advise u to do same, GET INVOLVED. |
simon gonner: ASUU strike is 70days old today yet the Newsstudent, wat do u have me do........ come back to ur skool and tell ur lazy greedy sug president to start an aluta............sorry cnt do dat.. na una hand e dey.....in my days, when i was in skool, student unionism was at its peek, we go for aluta for even nepa taking our light. here u are thinking i will become a student to come do ur work.... the least u cn do is get ur ass offf the system and start ur aluta, na una dey go skool o. wat i am into is to make sure i get involve in politics in my locality, ur locality isur skool, get involved and start aluta for the assu strike. or better still, light up urself, like the north african guy, who started arab spring |
IbnTimothy: This is so creative..... I just de laugh alone for office, Oyibo come de think say I de kolovery creative indeed, i hope seun and crew wont ban him though, becos he mentioned the end ................ |
orgasticdance: Exactly.ok, give up na and what will u gain............ you are talking abt uk and advance countries morality and good sense of leadership. it is a fact agree or not, OUR PARENTS HAS FAILED US, they left leadership and politics for the bad guys to manage, now from the statements of most young Nigerian's here we are also moving towards failing our children. we cant continue to cry over spilled milk, it is time to get involved. |
danny301: Oshiomhole is no-longer working in the Edo state the way he was working during his first teRM..... Is it that there is no more in the state or there is no more work to do?............ I think the proposed one term for president or govs would have been a good thing had it scale through because almost all the governors in their second term have stop, working all they do now is traveling round the world, and if they happen to be in Nigeria they prefer staying in/at Abuja and doing things they were not elected to do....... Nigeria need a generational shift in leadership, it's time for the younger generation to come forth and sincerely canvass for generational change in this country............. But, the big question is, how prepared are the youths to salvage this country from the imminent collapse staring at us...... Many of us are only engrossed in tribalism and sycophancy while our collective destiny is at stake..... Those in power are fighting with everything in there arsenal to remain in power while their friends who are not directly in power are using everything in their disposal to come, but its not because they have the interest of Nigeria and Nigerians at heart but because they want to keep on stealing our collective resources send their children to foreign universities, buy properties in foreign countries and keep part for their unborn generations .... Now, nobody is seriously talking about ASUU strike but meetings are going ceaselessly and millions, if not billions of Dollar changing hands to restore peace in PDP not for anything but just for few persons to keep on enjoying what God has giving to all of us while millions of Nigerians live below 1 dollar a day........................ Some call themselves APC, but they are same in all aspects except in their disagreement on who should be in power.......... They use ethnicity and religion to weaken us to their own advantages and their children in their early thirties are doing their 2nd if not 3rd degrees in foreign universities while you can hardly see an ordinary Nigerian youth graduating from the university before the age of 30 because of strike and the general frustration in the our educational system.... Yet, its these hopeless youths that go about serving as thugs in the hands of these politicians...... After sometime, their children will return from abroad and take over from them while you remain their servants, but these are people that if giving the same opportunities would not do better than you in any ramification of life......................... Its high time, we the youths of Nigeria demand earnestly to take over the leadership of Nigeria................I REST MY CASE.my brother, ur suggestion is the best way to go. but there is a big BUT, how many Nigerian youths are ready and willing for this struggle and change......... how do u go abt it. [just put in ur mind revolution cannot work]. i have sat down and taught of all these things, and we cannot just sit down lament, complain and do nothing, that is why i am advocating, we [youths with good heart and still believe in Nigeria]go and be part of leadership in Nigeria, we shouldnt just wait for things to happen, we should be actively be involved, in our communities, wards, local govt, state and the country as a whole. i am driving towards this direction, that is why i have deceided to join the APC, at least in my state, its just kicking off, before the bad guys flood the party, i have been encouraging my friends to be part, so that we position ourselves. we cannot Not do nothing, we must act, and now. |
owolabifunke14: Spare me that labour union crap.Has he done anything different from what the people he was fighting as labour leader didso madam what's ur point............. are u saying, u are blind to all the turn arround in ERdo state, or u are just following the crowd, to give up on ur future........... |
banky222: all na washy. Ekaf elggurts ot niag ytiralupop.how old are u boy |
avalontony: mr governor....i don give up since....., if say u never collect your share you no go the talk like this... just govern your people well.so what happens next after giving up...........let the stealing and bad leadership continue........... what will u tell your children.... that u gave up without trying........ you guys better out on ur thinking caps and start working, America didnt become like that, if their youths gave up on their country. |
owolabifunke14: Abeg free us this ur yeye talk.U don spoil our country finish come dey use style dey twist am back to d youths.so what do u suggest we do, sit down and complain............. we just have to keep believing in Nigeria, and work towards it, dnt sit on the fence, dont watch how things happen, get involved, that's the best we can do now. we cant kill them all, we can revolt, we cant die........hence we just need to keep believing, and work towards our faith |
and don't forget, liverpool are adding to the team, with victor moses in our attack, pair with suarez and sturidge, we are unstopable |
Mrc1: A really dogged, resilient performance there. We started superbly and negated their midfield, United did not have many clear cut chances. Again we were on the back foot for the second half but we defended for our lives there.swt summary there |
xynerise: *eating popcorn and waiting for Man utd magical Time*sorry, game over............... no rooney, no manu. |

Many people have asked Festus Keyamo, “You seem like a nice young man. You’ve done all this great work. You’ve been a successful lawyer, and you are critics, you’re a civil rights attorney, you always fight against corruption, you are a family man, why would you want to go into something dirty and nasty like politics?” And he understands the questions, and the cynicisms. We all understand it. We understand it because we get the sense today that politics has become a business and not a mission. In the last several years, we have seen Abuja become a place where keeping score of who is up and who is down is more important than who’s working on behalf of the Nigerian people. We have been told that our mounting debts don’t matter, that the economy is doing great, and so Deltans should be left to face their anxiety about rising health care costs, rising cost of education, increase in standard of living and disappearing pensions on their own. We relied so much on oil, that other sectors are not given attention, Agriculture is not encourage in commercial scale, there are no industries and factories to employed our jobless youth. And when we try to have an honest debate about the crises we face, whether it’s on the facebok, twitter or tv stations, town hall meeting or a talk show, the conversation isn’t about finding common ground, it’s about finding someone to blame. We’re divided into zones and Ethnicity, and told to always point the finger at somebody else – the other party, or oppositions, or the people. Corruption is a common thing in every society, but I think it's fair to say that the scandals that we've seen, both legal and illegal, under the current political dispensation, are far worse than most of us could have imagined. Think about it. In the past several months, we've seen politicians living in affluent, we’ve seen our law makers going abroad in the name of legislative business, we’ve seen our law makers been arrested for taking millions of dollars in bribes. It is painfully obvious that corruption stifles development - it siphons off scarce resources that could improve infrastructure, bolster education systems, and strengthen public health. It stacks the deck so high against entrepreneurs that they cannot get their job-creating ideas off the ground. Corruption also erodes the state from the inside out, sickening the justice system until there is no justice to be found, poisoning the police forces until their presence becomes a source of insecurity rather than comfort. Corruption has a way of magnifying the very worst twists of fate. It makes it impossible to respond effectively to crises -- whether it's the HIV/AIDS pandemic or malaria or crippling drought. What's worse - corruption can also provide opportunities for those who would harness the fear and hatred of others to their agenda and ambitions. It can shield a criminal - even one like Bode Goerge, Odili, Alams, Andoakha, Bankole, Lawan, even those that were involved in oil thief suspected of helping to finance and orchestrate the present dispensation - by allowing them to purchase safe haven for a time and robbing all humanity of the opportunity to bring the criminal to justice. So I have just one question for you the people of Delta senatorial central, Are you fired up? Ready to go? You have a duty to convince that neighbor of yours who is cynical about whether there can ever be a change, weather we can ever have the government of the people and for the people in delta state. It is your duty to tell them that Festus Keyamo believes in a government that works for the people and not against the people. FESTUS KEYAMO is out to redefine politics. NA OUR HAND E DEY! |
Broda, grassroot work is ongoing, he has been holding town hall meetings in various local govts in delta state. Although more work needs to be done, thats why we need pple like u who knws keyamo as a good crusader of anticorruptn to join dfu. |
