Jobs/VacanciesRe: A Thread For Graduates Of Electrical/electronics Engineering Seeking For Jobs by debbie(f): 4:24pm On Apr 11, 2015
like the guy above rightly said....well you all should remember that electrical/electronics is very vast.choose an area you want to grow in,i dont believe in following the trend.Aside that, the course gives room for private practices.Example, earlier in my career i was into autocad drawing for clients, which i did to support myself before i got a job.
See doing your Msc or certification is not a guarantee that you will sail smoothly,if and only if you dont make the best out of the path you chose.

Fast forward,i decided to go into core IT because i knew where i wanted to be....writing all my cisco certifications is and was never a waste today.Simply because i had a target which i am so happy i did.
To all the fresh graduates, please carry out research on what you want to do.If you want to do your MSC choose a course you can do very well.If you are doing certification please dont be jack-of-all-thread,you should be singled out as an expert in future. If you are seeking a job,let the experience you will gain be the driving point (experience adds value to you tomorrow) then the pay comes second. To those working whether you are enjoying your place of work or not, keep the hope and dream high( you need it to move on and stay in track).

Now to my senior colleagues in the house,i greet you all.
From my humble self,a woman engineer in the house cheesy

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Advise Plls by debbie(f): 1:10pm On Apr 09, 2015
Before you decide on what to do, there are basic questions you will need to ask yourself and answer them.
What are you passionate about?.
Are you interested in IT, software and hardware, programming and the rest?
Where do you want to be in the next 5-10years in terms of career growth?
Now where is your core area of specialization?

Remember, for you to be able to achieve great things don't follow the crowd, define what you want and go for it.
It is good to be an expert in a specific area....so that you can focus and not get confused easily.

Now there are several courses for you ranging from CISCO,MOCROSFT,JAVA, ORACLE, PMP...ETC
Never dabble into all of them, carry out a research on which area to focus on.

NOTE-WHAT IS REIGING TODAY MAY NOT NECESSARILY MEAN THAT IS THE BEST FOR YOU.

FamilyList Of Banned Babies Names Around The World. by debbie(op): 12:05pm On Apr 09, 2015
1.The New Zealand government prohibits the use of titles like Prince, Princess, King, Major, Sargent or Knight as names for children. According to officials, "This could cause offense to a reasonable person."

2.List of names banned in Sweden include Metallica, Ikea and Q.

3.In Morocco, you can’t spell your baby girl’s name as 'Sarah' because of its Hebrew origin. You’ll have to use its Arabic version — Sara. In addition, a fee has to be paid if a couple wants to choose an off-list name for their child, for example, Adam.

4.Names starting with the letter ‘C’ are outlawed in Iceland because the letter does not exist in Icelandic alphabets. As of 1991, the Icelandic Naming Committee decides whether a child’s name is acceptable or not. So forget names like Carolina, Cara, Catherine or Connor.

5.A judge in the United States in 2013 banned the name ‘Messiah’ to be used as a child’s name. According to the judge, the word Messiah was a title earned only by one person, Jesus Christ. The decision was later overturned.

6.The name Hitler is also banned in Germany.

7.Shortly after the terrorist attacks of 9/11, the officials in Cologne, Germany denied a Turkish couple the right to name their child Osama Bin Laden. The naming guidelines from German officials suggest that a child’s name should not be likely to lead to humiliation.

8.Germany does not allow surnames or names of objects to be used as proper nouns. Also the names should be gender specific and not unisex in nature. So forget names like Anderson, Taylor, Toby, Quinn, Matti and the like.

9.One couple in China tried to stretch their imagination and use the symbol '@' (at) as the name of their child. Chinese officials rejected their decision, because under Chinese naming regulations, characters that cannot be represented on the computer are banned.

10.Mona Lisa is also one of the names featured on the 41-page document of outlawed names in Portugal.

11.In Portugal, nicknames like Tom, Rob or Sammy are not allowed on birth certificates. It is OK to call someone Tomás, but not Tom.

12.Although common names in the west, Maya, Linda and Laureen are some names that are banned in Saudi Arabia.

13.Recently, Saudi Arabia’s interior ministry came out with a list of about 50 banned names it considered foreign or contradictory to their religion. It included names like Malak (Angel), Nabi (Prophet) or Jibreel (Gabriel) among others.

14.Naming children after the names of animals, fruits or vegetables is banned in Malaysia. So rethink if you want your daughter to be called Apple or Coco or Bear.

15.If you are a fan of a popular film franchise and want your baby's name inspired by a superhero or action star, you are in for disappointment. Names like Batman, Terminator, Robocop, Rocky and the like are also illegal in Mexico.

16.Naming your kid after literary characters like Harry Potter, Hermione, James Bond, Rambo, Pocahontas or the like is not allowed in Mexico

17.The Mexican state of Sonora bans names like Lady Di, Virgin, Circumcision, Cesarean, Facebook, Yahoo, Private or Rolling Stone, labeling these names as pejorative, discriminatory or lacking in meaning. "The objective is to protect children from being bullied because of their name," said Cristina Ramirez, the director of Sonora's Civil Registry.

18.Be wary of naming your child Sarah when in Morocco, and Harry Potter or Batman or Terminator when in Mexico. Yes, many countries of the world have a list of names that are outlawed in their territory. Click forward to learn some of the banned baby names across the world.

PoliticsRe: Ohanaeze gives Oba of Lagos 48 hours to withdraw threat to Igbos by debbie(f): 9:34pm On Apr 06, 2015
I see a generation of youths who are digging their grave,i see a group of babies all over the social media who dont have a foresight of what the future is all about. I see a generation of men and women who will live to regret their actions, all because they couldnt know when to speak and when to apply wisdom.

I see a nation divided, built on hate, developed on ethnic sentiments and driven with tribalism..I dont wish to see the effect of what we are brewing up for our children
I see a nation that will end up being more divided than progressing, all because words were spoken which tore down walls and created rivers without bridges.
In as much as i dont like what the Oba said (IF IT IS EVENTUALLY TRUE). What i dont want to accept is the insult on any other tribe and ethnic group. We refuse to accept and correct our leaders. In years to come, the oba might no longer be there....but the seed of tare you are sowing,be ready to harvest it.
Yes Ibo's have voiced their mind on what the Oba said.....BUT each of you raining insults and provocative words, will one day look back and discover that the society you have is what you built with your words.
There is no doubt, tribalism is a fast growing infection, spreading like wildfire and feasting on the minds of Nigerians.
If we cant help ourselves,we will end up going backwards, even in the face of the best infrastructural development.

The Oba is a mortal, flesh and blood.....not a demigod or the Almighty.
If you are wrong, accept and make amends........THE PEACE OF OUR LAND IS IN OUR HANDS.WITHOUT BOWS AND ARROWS,WE CAN IGNITE WARS OF HATRED NO WATER CAN QUENCH.

NOTE-DONT QUOTE ME FOR ANY SARCASTIC COMMENT,YOU ARE SURELY ON YOUR OWN.
THANKS

TV/MoviesAfricamagic Igbo Launches On Dstv,2nd April 2015 by debbie(op): 9:22am On Apr 01, 2015
In line with its ongoing development strategy, AfricaMagic, the continent’s leading provider of African entertainment content, has announced the launch of a new channel, AfricaMagic Igbo. Designed to showcase the rich Igbo culture of Nigeria, the 24 hour general entertainment channel follows the success of the Africa Magic Hausa and Yoruba channels and will go on air at 19:00 CAT on 2 April 2015. Africa Magic Igbo will be available on DStv channel 159.

The launch of AfricaMagic Igbo, which brings to eight the total number of AfricaMagic channels, follows the redefinition of the AfricaMagic channels in 2014 and the recent refreshing of the Africa Magic Urban channel.

Speaking on the launch, the Director, M-Net (West Africa), Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu, said: “We are thrilled to announce the launch of AfricaMagic Igbo. Igbo language entertainment content has always played a prominent role in the Nigerian film and television industry and we are glad to offer a platform where this rich content can be showcased to the rest of Africa and the world. Popular Igbo language content like Living in Bondage, Nneka the Pretty Serpent and many others set the trend for the modern Nigerian film and television industry, or Nollywood as it’s called; it is thus only fitting that such content should be given a platform where it is easily accessible by audiences around the continent. With the launch of AfricaMagic Igbo, we have once again proven our commitment to providing content made for Africa by Africans.”

For his part, the Managing Director, MultiChoice Nigeria, John Ugbe, said: “For over 20 years, Multichoice has played an active role in the development of the African film and television industry. The Africa Magic channels, which sit on our DStv and GOtv platforms, continue to display the best of African entertainment content to the world. With the launch of Africa Magic Igbo, we have once again provided a platform for African talent to shine and our viewers can definitely expect to see the best of Igbo culture and talent on display.”

The first Africa Magic channel was launched in 2003 and more than 10 years later, the brand continues to expand and now includes content dedicated to world class African entertainment programming ranging from drama series, music, magazine and lifestyle shows, to reality shows and movies.

“All the AfricaMagic channels are renowned for their exciting content which celebrates African entertainment and AfricaMagic Igbo will be no different. The channel will appeal to audiences in and outside Nigeria, as the Igbo language is also spoken in a number of other African countries like Equatorial Guinea, Democratic Republic of Congo and Gabon. Africa Magic Igbo will also undoubtedly be popular with audiences across the continent as shown by the widespread success of the popular Igbo language movies of the 1990s, and our viewers can expect to see the best from renowned and exciting Igbo talent like Okey Bakassi, Chiwetalu Agu and Dede One Day amongst many others,” added Mba-Uzoukwu.

Africa Magic Igbo launches on 2 April 2015 at 19:00 CAT and will be available on DStv channel 159. For more information on Africa Magic channels and programmes, simply visit: www.africamagic.tv.
