amaoniyi:You can but I don't know if I have any special info to share because I don't know of any special steps of getting a job other than checking online on different job/ professional sites like LinkedIn |
oshotemi19:Yes please |
Chessbaby:Yes |
Chessbaby:If your spouse is a Blue Card holder, you do not need a language certificate to apply for Family Reunion. It doesn't even matter if you have a university degree or not |
Atopet:Correct! Each individual must have his/her own APPLICATION FORM and supporting documents as stated in the corresponding checklist |
Atopet:I understand that you put emphasis on the OTHERS but I will share my experiences regardless ![]() When I went to the embassy, a guy came with two of his nephews who were minors and didn't have any appointment (because Paulinus asked him who had appointment for that day and he said he was the one). He had appointment for his student visa and his nephews were applying for family reunion but had no appointment. Yet, he was allowed to submit all three applications. For my daughter, the only reason why her application was not received the same day as her mum was because she didn't have a passport then as she was just 14 days old. My wife was told at the embassy that minors don't need to book appointments online that if my daughter had her passport at the time, they would have received the two applications. She was then told that once she gets my daughter's passport, she should just send a mail to the embassy referencing her own application/file number and an appointment date would be given to my daughter. The day I sent the mail, it was around 2am or so, by morning around 8am, embassy replied with an appointment date. If you are still not convinced, I would say you should go ahead to book the appointments for your children but when your wife is going to the embassy, she should go with them and their application forms. I'm certain she will be able to submit all applications that day. You can then cancel the online appointment afterwards.... my two cents ![]() |
Chessbaby:You do not need a separate appointment for a MINOR. On the day of your own appointment, go with your daughter's application forms and documents. You would submit yours and hers together. This way, you won't also need pay verification fee for her own application because your verification fee will cover hers |
GraceIsaac09:IT related roles fall under the shortage skill. Hence, you don't need an offer above the required 55,200. However, the offer must be 43,056 or more and the employer MUST get an approval from the Federal Employment Agency (FEA) |
Dee222:It is okay to go with your same passport and also okay to keep your maiden name for your application. The only complication that might arise is if you have used your new name on any document you will present at the embassy. If that's the case, it'll also make sense to already swear an affidavit that you are the same person that bears the two names. You can then submit this along with your application. For the verification fee, provided you are submitting the application alongside your own, a single fee covers both applications |
mercy444:I don't think change of name is a "must". As long as she does not identify herself with her husband's surname anywhere in her application, the embassy can't demand that she's changes her name because there's no law that says married people must have same surname. She can use her maiden name for her application and her passport can bear her maiden name with no issue whatsoever |
Nellycee4u:♂️ |
MolecularSponge:No, the embassy does not demand a change of name and it's not a must the couple must have the same surname |
Dee222:As far as I know, the only "affidavit of consent" required for a child's family reunion visa as stated in the checklist is: Affidavit of Consent of the parent remaining in Nigeria for the relocation of the child to Germany (if not personally present during application interview) If this really applies to you, then it is done like every other affidavit at the court. Just tell them at the court, the purpose of the affidavit, which is that you are giving consent to the child to join the other parent in Germany. They will ask for personal details (names and possibly date of birth of everyone involved), draft it and then get it signed and stamped |
vir0547:As you are already aware, family reunion visas ideally goes through a verification process. I believe as long as you have the necessary documents to prove the child is yours, there shouldn't be any problem |
For those applying for family reunion and your spouse has the statutory health insurance in Germany, you can already ask him/her to add you [and your child(ren)] as "non-contributory dependant(s)" on his/her insurance at no extra cost. With this, when the embassy requests for your passport(s) and travel insurance(s), you do not need to spend any money getting travel insurance(s) from maybe AXA Mansard. All that is needed is to ask your spouse to call the insurance provider to issue a certificate/letter that you are insured. This should then be submitted alongside your passport(s). Though the travel insurance in Nigeria might not cost much but I just thought I should share. It's not bad saving that money and adding it to your plane ticket money ![]() |
Josinobirian:Generally, yes, that's the process but we've heard of some exceptional cases people testify here of not going through the verification stage |
Josinobirian:I've never heard of them sending confirmation of documents they receive. Though I think I've heard people here say if they don't receive the document, they'll react out again (I'm not so sure about this). However, you should just track the document through the courier service you used. If it says it was delivered, then it is sure the embassy received it. |
adeotun:I'm sure it's not a problem because they will still review the documents regardless and they will see the information they need. You shouldn't bother your head. All the best in your interview |
adeotun:This looks like the FEA Approval. What exactly are you worried about? As far as I remember, you only need your personal details when booking a visa appointment or has that changed? (Forgive my ignorance, I went through this process over 2 years ago) |
Lawrencium1900:I'm not sure if your situation is the exactly the same but I had a friend's wife that was asked to resubmit her affidavit of spinsterhood because the one she initially submitted had a forged signature. What actually happened in her case was that the affidavit carried her father's name but because he was sick at the time the document was done, her mum signed. Hence the discrepancy. I would then ask, the first Declaration of Age you submitted, whose name is on it and who signed it? Was it your mum? Have you spoken to your mum about this to even know if she has multiple signatures or if she can remember how she signed when the lawyer came for verification? Don't need to worry much about it though, just have your mum do the new document and send it to the embassy. I assume this request was sent as part of your verification confirmation email, which is already done. |
lecksam:I'm sorry I don't know how the student visa process work. Maybe you can check the student visa thread for info that can help you |
suaxxy:I assume that the name on the passport you presented during your interview is the same name that's on all the documents and application forms you submitted. If that's the case, I'd advise you not to complicate your application by getting a new passport because the identity verification will be done based on the names you already submitted. When the process is done and it's time to issue visa, it will be on the passport you presented during interview (except it has expired, of course) |
QueenieDar:I don't think it matters if it's with your maiden name or husband's surname. The most important thing is that you book with the passport that you'd present at the time of the interview. So if you plan to do change of name, you should get it done quickly and then apply for an appointment. If not, you can already apply with the passport that carries your maiden name. P.S. I'm not a "fellow lady" ![]() |
mychellin:The bolded is very valid. Minors do not need a separate appointment booking. Once there's an appointment for the parent, their applications can be submitted along with the parent's application. They only need their own separate application forms and supporting documents |
Diaperssbabies:As long as you've not gone for yours, you don't need another one for him. They'll attend to you both at once |
Alore:Since they are all minors, just apply for your wife. On the day of her appointment, they will accept all four applications |
New80:You have nothing to worry about, your appointment will cover for you both because he's a minor. Just make sure, on the day of your appointment, you have his application documents + his passport with you. You will submit your application and his own too |
Warthon:One is enough for both |
Acisky:From a post I saw earlier on this thread, they say the passport number will change. Since the appointment is for your wife and son, I will advise that you get the passport changed before you submit your son's application, to avoid back and forth. Even if the new one is not ready before the appointment, let your wife submit hers and mention to them at the embassy the situation with your son. When the passport is ready, you just need to send an email to the consulate to give your son an appointment, attaching his mum's evidence of submission (application fee receipts and co). This was my similar experience, only that my daughter didn't have a passport at all when my wife went for her interview. Now my daughter has a passport and also has her own appoinment for next week |
Acisky:Is the appointment for you or your son? If it's for you, you really don't have to worry about changing your son's passport before the interview (provided he's a minor). Your appointment will cover both of you. If the appointment is for your son and if correcting his passport will change his passport number, I'd advise that you go for the appointment with the current one and then correct the mistake afterwards. |
Acisky:I can say that this mistake will not affect your interview next month because you will still be able to submit your application. However, I will advise that you get in touch quickly with people at the Immigration Office to know the process and duration of rectifying the mistake on the passport. This is because the disparity between the States on both documents will eventually be pointed out during application review / document verification. At that time, the consulate will ask that you align the discrepancy, most likely, by providing another passport stating Ogun which will appear to them as the correct information |
Fabulousaify:I can't say for sure but I feel Affidavit will hold more grounds if you can only produce one |

please is this the Vorabzustimmung document? I think I filled in the wrong details when I was booking a visa appointment
