it's a very nice ride. Problem most times is the knock sensor and not the gear. But with the direction of ur questions, if u buy it, u may most likely have gear issues. U have already made up ur mind and started preparing for rebuild or replacement. The mind attracts what it thinks

I keep saying that every car remains as reliable as its owner. When you service your car with olive oil or palm oil, it will rebel against you.

As for the transmission of a 99/03 RX300, it is very costly to repair and price of a replacement cld reach 400k. I don't think you wld have cause to replace if you follow manufacturer's directive during maintenance. the specified auto tranny fluid is Toyota Type T4 (never deviate from this). And it is very available in the market.

The engine oil spec is 5W30 of any good brand.

When you buy your tokunbo car, first thing you do is to change all fluids: engine oil, auto tranny fluid, brake fluid.
(check ur timing area too. If its a belt, change it)
Depending on how frequently you use the car, if serviced with the right oils, service intervals shld be with 2 to 3 months. And remember to change your auto tranny fluid once a year.

Follow this advice and your vehicle will remain your trust worthy friend.

Obahiagbon's brother, ur auto tranny is not the problem. Your issue seems like an air intake or fuel pressure problem. Your engine isn't getting enough air or fuel to support the load whenever the drive gear is engaged. Since I'm not available to diagnose your vehicle's fault, here's what I think:

I suspect your Idle Air Control valve. Its located on the throttle body or may I asked when last you changed your air filter? If your air filter is clogged, ur engine wld not get enough air to run.

Same thing goes for your fuel system. Check your fuel filters for clogging and test the pressure of your fuel pump.

Replace the O2 sensor located on or after the catalytic converter along the exhaust line.

I have a Kia Sorento 2008 . It used to drive beautifully. It still does.
Nowadays the engine alert light comes on so frequently but it still drives beautifully since I don't notice any issue with engine. However things seem to be getting worse. The ESC OFF light will suddenly light up together with engine alert and car stops moving. This could bequite dangerous if on busy highway. My mechanic has no idea. Is there any Kia Sorento owner in Ibadan who can give me some reliable advice ?

My car started jerking since last month but the jerking and stalling was minimal, I visited a mechanic and he adviced that I should change my plugs. I bought plugs and fuel filter but he replaced only the plugs and told me that my fuel filter is fine.
I left and the problem still continue and increasing day by day,it can stall when am overtaking which is dangerous.
I then bought a scanner and scanned it and it pulled this code p0457 (emission issue). I went to my mechanic but he couldn't understand where the fault is.I went thru Google and everything is pointing to canister valve bt other mechanics I visited told me that the valve is not the cause. I just left and don't want them to do their usual try try way.
pls does anyone know the solution about the code and if it is smtin I can do by myself bcus the car is now consuming too much fuel and i smtimes perceive fuel odor why driving.

Emission issue should not cause your vehicle to stall. another thing I'm worried about is the capability of the scanner you used in scanning your vehicle.

Assuming you have used a good scanner, and did not get a code relating to one engine sensor or the other or any other electrical component, then I would suspect the problem is coming from your fuel pump mounting.

Does the car stall even when your tank is half filled? Ask your mechanic to check if your fuel pump is properly mounted in the tank.

You have already Started looking for trouble by servicing a 2001 VW with the wrong oil. The correct oil spec is written on the oil filler cap on the engine.

When last did you have your transmission serviced?
Check your transmission fluid level and quality. It might have degraded over time and use. You may have to do a transmission flush which MIGHT not totally eradicate the problem, yet a step in a good direction.

Xtripple should check his engine seats as regards the jerking and for the codes you posted, your TPS and O2 sensor (bank1 sensor2) might need replacement.

I for like be the one to chop your money but look for Gazzuzz if youare in Lagos.

Yes, two of dem buh just one of the seats was really broken while d other front one had a 'tiny' cut. I got the car scanned & this error code came up.
