To check the level of automatic transmission fluid in the gearbox we normally use the dipstick. Some people have advised me to read this dipstick while the engine is running while some others think this should be done when the engine is at rest. Which is the correct way?

Start your engine, pull the gear select lever from P tru R N D to 3 2 1 depending on how your selector us labelled and then back to P. Leave ur engine running while you pull out the auto-tranny fluid dip-stick. Wipe it clean, dip n pull out again and observe the fluid level on the dip-stick.

i washed my honda accord 2001(babyboy) engine at a car wash.. ever since then i have being having issues. The car might work smoothly and suddenly refuses to fire or accelerate /stalling. I have changed the plug.. Clean the distributor, and that didn't solve the problem. It also display check engine error after washing. Which i have checked.. And its with the o2 sensor bank 1. I will be glad if u can help.

The problem is in your engine harness connectors. Disconnect all wiring connectors and dry them. The engine washer must have sprayed them with water when using his pressure washer so u now have water in unwanted areas, bridging connections.

Don't forget to check ur engine bay fuse box too.

Dad's mechanic gave a vague explanation and Dad took it that way. But for some of us who want detailed explanations, we come to Nairaland to seek opinion of learned technicians. Was Dad's mechanic eventually able to fix the problem?

There are different causes of vibration in an automobile. In the case of the OP, the vibe occurs when ever he steps on his brakes. So I wld suggest chaikie replaces both front brake disks with new ones.

Nairaland car talk section can be called an online mechanic workshop.

my car has been on limp mode since the engine was changed it had been scanned and fixed several times I've bought virtually all types of sensors and parts but no hope I've spent more than 150k just to get a car out of limp mode.
the car is Honda accord 1996, it drinks fuel like water, 10litres can barely take me 20km
it doesn't go beyond 30km/h
am fed up I've been advised to change it to carburator what do u think guys?

Please all car gurus in the house i need your help. I am new to nairaland. It was recommended to me by a friend. My altima 2008 2.5s guzzles fuel compared to what i read online. The trip computer shows 19.2mpg on city and 20.8 or 21mpg for hwy. A full tank shows a range of 320 miles against to 522 miles i read on samarins.com. The altima 2008 should be 23mpg city and 31 mpg hwy. I need help.

You probably don't have a thermostat in ur engine, radiator fan operation has been altered, non functioning AF monitoring system... Etc

Leave your shocks alone.

Check bushings on your stabiliser rods and sway bar. Front and rear.

Check upper and lower arm bushings if your car is configured in that spec.

Check ball joints and tie-rod endings.

With the rate of fuel consumption you have described, I'm sure your thermostat isn't present.
