Car Talk › Re: Car Aircondition (AC) And Fuel Consumption by DECOtech(m): 12:42pm On May 17, 2015 |
Last week, I drove a Toyota corolla to Enugu. Due to my itinerary, I had to follow the Owerri route to Enugu.
I took off from Lagos with 45ltrs of petrol. my windows were wound down cos I didn't need the AC that early in the morning but on getting to Benin, the low fuel warning light came on. I was disappointed cos the corolla is not known for high fuel consumption. I pulled out my scanner and scanned the power train even though the CEL was not on and got no codes.
I bought another 45ltrs of fuel in Benin. This time, I needed the AC cos the weather had warmed up. I got to Enugu on half tank of fuel despite taking a longer route and using the AC.
Using the AC would demand more fuel but driving with your windows down will demand much more. |

abatically: Let me ask u one simple question. What would u call UAE (Dubai)? Temperate or tropical? Temperarure and and humidity in Nigeria is child's play compared to UAE. So then why does my uncle's Toyota highlander which was a Dubai import come with a thermostat pre installed? Mind u, most of the bank type Toyota corolla are all built for Dubai market; they come with thermostat and their fans don't spin every time. For that question, God bless you sir. |

xtripple: Pls advise , my Honda 1999/2000 jerk when on motion if apply break on final stop, If you know what maybe the cause or solution pls tell.... Where are you located, how many jerks do you get? If its a continuous jerk as you have your foot on the brake pedal, then I would say you have a warped brake disc. If its one jerk, a shift solenoid might be the problem or a bad engine/gear mount. If your "check engine light" is on, pls run a scan and find a way to describe your issue better. |

Terry1: Thanks DECOtech. I appreciate.
So Toyota Sienna is better than all I listed in terms of commercial?
How about fuel consumption? Again in terms of getting Mechanics easily and spare parts? Please throw more light on these if you can. Thanks again I don't think Toyota is better. Its just the popular brand in the region. For instance, Ibadan prefers the Mazda brand, Edo prefers Audi, Northerners favour honda.... And so on. As for fuel consumption, the Nissan is good. Remember that driving style also affects fuel consumption. Spares are available. |

Car Talk › Re: Which Best For Commercial? Honda Odyssey 03, Nissan Quest 04, Or Madza MVP 02? by DECOtech(m): 9:26am On May 13, 2015 |
Terry1: Please I need a car expert to tell me which of these cars (Honda Odyssey 2003, Nissan Quest 2004, Madza MVP 2002) is best for commercial use in Nigeria. Please if you do not mind, give break down. Points such as fuel economy etc should be put in consideration.
Thanks in anticipation. I see you don't want to look the Toyota Sienna direction. Of the three options you have in mind, I will prefer the 04 Nissan Quest. My reasons are that it has a more spacious interior than the others and comes with a 3.5L engine that would deliver more power than the other two which comes with 3.0L engines. Although the MPV has the highest ground clearance of the three. Generally, I see the Nissan as a more rugged ride than the other two. I have used the quest, a friend of mine owns an MPV and another owns an odessy so I know what I'm saying. Cheers |

Izyokeke: My customer brought his car to me and said that his car sworm a very big water, the abs light begins to flash, and whenever it starts flashing the gear will not select. His mechanic has done so many things and got tired and refer him to me, pls what could be the cause. Somebody help me out. As an electrician what do I do or check first. Thanks. Since the car drove through a large puddle of water, first check the reluctor wheels (ABS rings) for debris. clean them up with pressurized air or water. If symptoms persists, pls consult your doctor (the one that has a scanner) 08030938491 |
Car Talk › Re: ML350 Alarms by DECOtech(m): 1:35am On May 13, 2015 |
justask: My Mercedes Benz ML350 year 2008 recently started displaying ESP alarm and won't clear even after several scan and attempted clearing with diagnostic equipment. The mechanic said it is faulty steering angle sensor, I ordered and changed out the part but alarm is still there. Please what could be the possible cause?
Secondly what's the correct engine drive belt size for this car, I bought 2404mm and the belt cut after three days, the mechanic said its 2420mm but manual says 2404mm, plz can someone help on this?
Thirdly, can all these alarms be deactivated and what will be the effect? Thanks For your mech to rush at your steering angle sensor shows how clueless he is about this issue. Firstly, ESP means Electronic Stability Control. when this warning light comes on, it could be caused by a range of faults from your brake light switch, ABS/wheel speed sensor or even the brake pressure sensor. Sometimes you might have touched the ESP button without knowing it. the steering angle sensor is not the first bus/stop in this matter. You should find a better (High end) scanner like the MB STAR or even a Launch X431 which can read codes off your ESP control module to give you a clearer picture of what the issue is. Secondly, as regards the right belt size for your car. If your manual says 2404mm, then that's the right size. if the belt keeps cutting, then one of your pulleys or tensioners are faulty and needs to be replaced If you need further assistance, you can call this number 08030938491 Cheers. |
