Golf 3 didn't come on this morning. Called a mechanic and he suspected the plug and/fuel filter. It's a Tokunbo, and I haven't really driven it.

He managed to bring the car online by pulling on a cable in the bonnet while I was revving it.

We drove it to his shop (Jibowu), I bought new plugs and filter, but the car still didn't come on as expected. In fact, the pulling of that mysterious cable isn't helping anymore. The mechanic has serviced the nozzles to no avail.

Basically, the car just coughs when we try to start it. Anyone have any idea?

A Rewire Is trying to solve by elimination, but no one really knows.

It's a 1.6 L golf 3.

Its not about being jobless. Your figure for a 2003/04 honda CRV is outrageous. That car usually goes for 1.5M at most.

Pls I need urgent help.I serviced my car engine&gear last week Monday&travelled with it to Osun State.I discovered that the light on d D4 was blinking&the car was jerking to select&not driving well.I stopped to check what the problem was but detected nothing.So whenever it starts blinking&jerking before changing gear,i switch off the ignition&put on again then it starts working fine.For sometime, It accelerated&drove well.But came back again on the return journey to Ibadan.Again I had a smooth ride to Lagos from Ibadan.I Complained to my Mechanic who said it was the oil used(Sea horse) that I'll need to change it.I did that yesterday to Holts& d problem went wild.This time,it doesn't select at all, still blinks on the dash board.early this morning,I tried taking it to the mechanic only to discover that it goes offwhenever I put on drive but the reverse is still good.
Pls I need ur suggestions as this will help my decision.

You did not tell us what model and year of car you are talking about. But from what u have described. You have killed ur gear box with the wrong oil.

Buy a new gear box n pls, use "DW1" ATF if its a honda.

The one means additives.

Additves mean some tins you put into the main tins....eg in chemical terms Maggi cubes na additives to soups and stews.....

Your automatic transmission is not a radiator neither is the ATF ur soup that needs maggi.

Often times it backfires when you put additives in ur radiator.

Yes sir, that could be the cause.

And yes you would have to program your car key to work in sync with the new ECM you got. that's if you didn't buy it along with its corresponding key and ignition.

Do you know to what pressure your tire was inflated? I'm trying to resist temptation to think your G500 is wired in such a way that your car wont start if it detects wrong tire pressure, and that's if you have not caused a bigger problem by driving your car on a flat tire.

A pully belt is slack.

Have your mechanic identify which one it is and have it changed.

Let me clarify my earlier post.

From my earlier post, two kinds of Mercon V exist, the one that was incompatible with the vehicle in question and the one that is.

One thing is certain at least since this Ford TSB 06-14-4 the position you canvass that Mercon V is compatible with the vehicle in question is right, while my position that Mercon is compatible is wrong (at least in the sense of lack of availability).

In other words, note that Ford TSB 06-14-4 supercedes the position in Ford TSB 01-15-7 and that effective July 1, 2007 Mercon V is the recommended ATF.

My point then is just ensure the date of manufacture of the Mercon V is from and after July 1, 2007 and not before.

Summary: heat is a serious problem with this transmission, so try and get an auxiliary ATF cooler like Setrab or Mocal or Trucool and also use synthetic ATF, CAUSE you are dealing with finicky and rather delicate as opposed to rugged transmission here.

Also disconnect your ATF Cooler lines and use this product Lubegard 19001 Dr. Tranny Kooler Kleen Trasmission Line Flush and compressed air to clear out all the debris so that it can give you its maximum cooling effect since the tranny has a cooling deficiency right from the factory

I have gone through the links you posted and seen that none is later than 2013

Have you taken a look at your transmission fluid dipstick before?

Any transmission that has Mercon as recommended ATF can also use Mercon V cos Mercon V is an improved formulation of the Mercon series of ATF
