wow...grateful for the response. The business pays very well though with 5m I can make 800k - 1m in a month but its shaky. I've been on d biz for like 3 months now but 500k gives me 80k per month. Mehn they pricing my camry 1.2m. I can break even in 6 months by compound interest to a million profit per month. Okay my engine is very good but don't trust my gear and the wedge inside the bottom plate has been changed. Car is demonic and eats up my finance with minor repairs often and on. Its been difficult to decide selling d car cos of the pricing is insulting. My AC is bad catalyst stolen etc. So I may need up to 300-400k to put it in shape. Very much grateful will ponder on the above and have a deep thought. Thanks and God bless
Oh, the curse is strong. How is the fuel consumption, that will determine if you'll be pleased or frustrated in the end

Thanks for responding...will stay at Ojo area...planned on staying with a friend on rent 10k per month. Am not too familiar I can still be a bit confused even though I've been to several places in Lagos eg Satellite Festac Oshodi Gbagada Surulere Yaba Ikeja Iyana Ipaja Lekki Kirikiri and Apapa. In selling my car I feel the car is caused to be honest tired of constant repairs and feel I should sell or manage it and delve into uber/bolt.
If the car is cursed then it will not stand the heat of ehailing, just sell it and start your business. I wish you best of luck.
If I were in your shoes sha, I would still do strong head and find a competent mechanic, stary using my early earnings to keep fixing the car. As long as there are no recurring issues, one day the curse will be lifted

studies show that I can make 200k plus in a month if I sell the car but not certain for Uber/Bolt reason am trying to know if there's still profit in the ehailing business esp in lagos
In ehailing business, there is no fixed income. Some (extremely lazy or part time) people are making 100k monthly while some are making above 400k. Come and use your car for ehailing, if it doesn't work out as you expect then you can sell it and invest in the other business.
New businesses can be tricky, there can be hidden pitfalls which you will only see when it's too late to run, with uber you can hardly run at loss since you're driving your car yourself

The reason people are not eager to answer you is because we have two categories of drivers here the lady drivers and Ants machine drivers
Lazy drivers will most likely tell you to go look for another business than driving for 12hrs every day.
While Ants will tell you to quickly quickly register your car and start making 400k every month.

You will have to read 20pages back to get full gist. The way you sound, I perceive you will be a lazy driver. if you find it hard to read the thread but want quick answer to enable you make critical decisions. Hmmmm

Quick one.. why do you guys use wallets? I'm used to keeping my stuffs in my pocket. In fact I put each denomination of naira in each pocket so even if my pocket is picked (almost impossible) I will only lose some money and not all my money.

I was checking some EMDs I intend to register on who//is and the result is always they have all been registered but I always check registration date to confirm who.is did not just register it lol.

It got to a point I noticed all the search results I got were .com and .net registered but the site wouldn't display date of registration, I knew something wasn't right then I typed this name that could never have been registered. Alas they gave me the same result.

I will check back tomorrow to know if they just registered it today or it's just a glitch.

I took a rider to that LSPD housing estate in ogba one time and I just love the environment as I drove in... The guy told me he owns the apartment he lives in the estate... Wow! How did you get it. Simple! You must have a job in Lagos to apply and guess what he pays 350k or there about annually till he offset the payment then all papers will be signed and given to him from ALAUSA but you've to have a paid job in Lagos no connection needed (But this is naija)grin ...the guy is not even a westerner... Don't ask me the total amount for the apartment biko grin so, you? What package is uber/bolt laying on ground for their drivers to own a house while driving paying commission to them for years? What opportunity does an average uber driver has as against one who works? How feasible can a driver on rental save to own a house? A millionaire questions is to be answered b4 one chooses a career job.
This is something bolt can easily do for verified drivers, and simply increase their commission to let's say 50% for drivers who are beneficiaries of the project till they offset the debt. It's just that bolt has no plans for anybody (drivers and riders), all they're interested in is making money. This can also be a massive investment in the long run, I wish they have someone to enlighten them on this

Guys,

Please, my 2005 honda pilot began finding it difficult to accelerate while motion or while trying to climbing a bump yesterday.

While in motion, it doesnt go above 20km/hr at once, and takes some time to accelerate.

When trying to climb a bump, it occasionally finds it difficult to climb a bump, so I would have to reverse before moving speadily over the bump.

What could be the issue?

You are business man... Most of these guys will not understand your thinking.. Sometimes I feel like you are talking to the wrong crowd.... I know that u see the big picture.... E hailing is a stepping stone for you that will provide capital for u to step into other area of business.....

Few guys here think like that
You don't have to sweet talk him grin
I'm replying because you quoted his response to my post and that makes me feel you're referring to me as "most of these guys... wrong crowd"

Our argument is not about ehailing being a stepping stone or not, it's about ehailing being easy.

Let me give you jara.. Yes ehailing can be a stepping stone, but so can several other hustles/jobs so we don't have to rubbish one for another.

Thank you

There are good jobs, but they are few compared to the number of youths searching.
If all of us wait for 400k job we go old. But ehailing is bringing that 400k to guys easily.

Moreover your wife has been working for 3yrs now to earn that. Any serious and dedicated person on ehailing for 3yrs should be a boss.

I have done this business case over and over from different perspectives, as at Entry level or an Associate level, Ehailing earnings can only be rivaled by Oil companies, Big IT firms, Investment Banking, or International organisations.
No bank in Nigeria today pays entry level 300k.

If na money they motivate u, then pursue the money. If na career, follow d career. If na responsibilities, just pursue whatever gives u peace. Like me, many people are just business minded irrespective of certificate and level of education, at the end of the day, we went to school so we can get a job, and earn a living. The most importantly thing is at the end we can earn a living, pay our bills and live a fulfilled life.
The only thing I disagree with is the bolded. Why do you guys keep saying easily when you drive around for over 12 hrs daily. Easily means little or no effort

You and Dapotemi basically spoke my mind... I'd just been too busy to type. Standing on the existing premises let me give guys that can think here some perspective and context.

A 9 to 5 = 8 hours at work. Because the person lives in on the farther parts of the mainland where MOST of the state's population live, he has to be at the bus stop by 6 (Many have to be earlier)
So conservatively he uses 3 hours to commute to and from work. that's 6 hours daily. Add time at work, that's 14hrs. Add 1 hour of waking up and getting ready for work= 15 hours.
If you live anywhere beyond Ikeja, we can easily add another 2 to 3 hours to this as many of them have to leave the house before 5 and get home like 9 10pm give or take.
And most of the people living in these parts, even Ajah and beyond make slightly more than 100k, if at all.

Now you the Uber man, like me, today I went online 5am. I don't have a commute, it's straight to work, 6pm I'm home which is where I'm typing this from. That's a cumulative of 13 hours. During these 13 hours, I wasn't driving for 13 hours straight, I did 15 trips. There were wait times i.e waiting for trips/waiting for rider to come out etc. Also there was 1 hour break for rest and recharge. All in all 13 hours sha.

Now if I continue like this and work 5 days only and conservatively, I'll net 50k a week =200k a month = 2.4m a year. My conservative projection was 250k a month 3M a year, but since I met cheerfulgiver, it became clear I could/should do better. Now that conservative projection is 350k a month, 4.2M a year, which is close to a manager's salary in a solid company. Compare this with the office guy making 150 a month 1.8M a year. This guy dresses well and all but he makes less per hour committed to work.
Crown all of this with the independence I enjoy, LORD, you have to be paying some really serious money to take that from me o. The people who you guys seem to envy don't have this, AND they don't make as much money AND all of us de dey Lagos traffic, but I get paid to sit in it.

SO why should I think I'm in an undesirable position?? Because people perceive me to be so? How anybody acts and carries on is a reflection of them NOT ME. If you enter my car and speak rudely is a reflection of you. It says much about you, how I respond says much about me. Don't get me wrong o, I've had to rip a few riders a new one but generally, ESPECIALLY NOW,I've come to realise that many of the things we perceive as insults or affronts, na just our fragile ego feeling bruised so I'm even calmer now, more patient, even maybe understanding sef because I can't imagine being an olosho and I go de happy...unless I really like sex. So when these girls act up sometimes, I feel more pity than anger. But I feel none of that for the boys o, I sabi vex for G-boys cos Yahoo no be work, na crime.

So why all the pessimism? The purpose of this thread is to share experiences on the job. Na only bad experience Una de get? How do people, newbies, other drivers learn if all that's shared here is negativity. It'll just be a cycle of ill vibes that will be carried over to the job because since na the only narrative then that's what's being advocated.
Unfortunately it's all a self esteem issue. You feel you're getting the short end of the stick. You'd rather work in an office and make 200k if you're lucky. E-hailing is just a last resort and na condition make your crayfish bend. "If no be as things be, will this small girl talk to me like this?" Have you seen where a girl in her twenties heads a unit in the office and her team members are much older and she will scold them like children? We all carry them na, and we hear them talk. Those English speaking chics with abroad master's degrees. Abi na only me de carry them ni? You think it's only in your car people are toxic? Lol

Yesterday I dropped a rider at Allen, (the one I refunded to), while I was still at the parked there I called bae, she said she de around Allen, na so work finish for the day, it was past 2. Earnings was 14k after commission. We went to spur at ICM to eat, hung out for a bit, I dropped her off, 7pm I don de house, past 9 I slept to wake up 4.20. I try to make sure I get at least 6 hours of sleep, preferably 7, but I'm not really a sleep person unless I'm completely knackered. At the end of the day, 5k still gum me reach house o. Basically I own me, well, madam owns me but... You sha get the picture. Could I have continued working? YES. Today, I've covered up for yesterday so account still de on track.
I don't work plenty hours like you guys like to insinuate, I don't have a bucket in my boot and I obviously don't sleep inside car. Sometimes, like today, you have a hot hand so you just keep playing until the house tells you it's enough.
I try to appear nice, speak with good diction, dress well, wear H&C shirts, Lugs sneakers and I braid my hair.

Now tell me why should I feel inferior to anybody or suffer a crises of self esteemhuh WHYhuh

Guys, chill. You can make money if you want, do anything, light oven, sleep, whatever... Whatever you will attract similar, it's that simple.
However let's lift one another, that's the best way to rise. That is the purpose of this thread.

Today's 2k.

A woman forget 850k in my car on Saturday how did this happened?

Her son ordered bolt for her from vgc to marina. He didn’t sent her number to me just gave me code to type and told me to park at the pick up gate maybe he doesn’t want me to call her mother whatever reason though.

Well, I picked the woman saw marina but told her “ma’am I can’t park around UBA oh but I’ll park inside oando”

The woman flared saying that all drivers she has ever picked always dropped her at marina UBA because her leg is bad to walk.

I said to myself wahala 1.9 surge I’ll risk it but ma’am I’ll chuck my car for UBA gate so for you to quickly get down and moved on.

I forget to add that she had like 3 bags and she also sat at the back.

Hmmm getting to marina I ended the trip while descending the bridge before UBA trip ended with 7,800 mama it’s a card trip.

Mama replied thanks she horridly get down.

Me not knowing she had forgot one of her bag shocked

It’s a long story I’ll try and go to the point…

Me got a request from same oando to admiralty thank god for life that the rider is a guy and sat in front haaa naso Gbege for happened.

Well I was getting close to Lekki Ikoyi toll naso my phone rang I picked and hearing a crying old woman voice…. Hahah mama please who’s this?

Mama: okomi please owo oja ni (it’s her goods money help me) I was like wrong number jare. Naso I end the call

Her son called that her mum was the one calling please pick it sir

Mama: please brother shebi you be Yoruba I beg you in the name of your creator with Yoruba prayers cheesy my bag is behind I forget 850k please help me I beg I don’t mind to give you something please. I replied with calm voice cos I don’t want the rider I picked to know what’s up.

Me: mama please go and stay inside oando kindly wait for me their I’ve seen your bag behind immediately I dropped my rider, I’m coming ma'am

This woman called me more than 30times at some point I lose my cool “madam it’s your money I’m just heading back kindly wait please now “ I was later mad at myself that I shouted for an elderly person.

Well getting to oando I saw the woman with all those agbero boys wey Dey pursue us whenever we come park and also that yellow chicken republic guy all of Em gathered already.

Gave the woman her bag filled with cash told her to count it. Which she offered me 10k but I told her MAAM ITS YOUR MONEY I CANT TAKE 1 kobo from that money ma and I’m sorry the way I spoke earlier.

Madam was so happy to the point she gave 5k to petrol attendant to fill my vehicle come see drama and cry of joy… grin
God bless you. I would have done the same but I'm sure many wouldn't
