thelastorca: You do not get it. This is not about idealism. This is simple technology. Remember all the noise about per second billing being impossible to implement? You think mtn had to buy new equipment to do it?
If the federal government is serious about sanctions , you will wake up tomorrow and your improperly registered lines will simply not work.
This is not about physically sealing someone’s house. This is just flipping a switch or issuing a command in a server.
Most of these features are baked into the system at launch, but not used.
You know the way a company’s it can lock out a user who has been sacked? Or a software license server can reject fake keys? Even now, every activity on every sim in every telcos network is tracked and recorded and can be called up if required.
Regulating SIM cards is simply a matter of will from ncc. Of course if they go through with it, we may start to hear complaints from Nigerians
People have been caught for much less than car hijacking. Nobody's saying it's not possible, what we're saying is it's not what it's supposed to be, so it's all driver for himself. You've been active since morning, no work? |

chigodo: I told them to stop 3 UBER cars with those documents they mentioned and i will go my way . They couldn't. They said it is the driver they have business with and not me. Because driver was kinda scared.
They offered to book another uber for me. I refused. Told them I only trust the driving skills of this particular man.
One of them said this kind man dey put person for wahala.
Na so they free the man. Baba don call me taya to thank me.
This Lagos?. We die here!. God bless you for helping the driver out, most riders will abandon driver when any slight challenge arises. The day I carried oride, LG touts stopped him and he wasn't with one of the documents they asked for so they removed his key. I sat there on the bike while rider was trying to sort it out with them. The touts did their best to make me come down so they could take the bike to their compound but I stood my ground and that saved the rider that day. |

radautoworks: I don't think you guys are hearing us. We don't have a problem if you want to cherry pick. Just don't do it after signing a contract that addressed the exact situation. Nigerians will be told the conditions of a deal and will accept with the midset of re-negotiating after service or adhering only to the portions they like. That's why before we do anything work customer must sign estimate or email acceptance of estimate. One company did and still came back when payment was requested telling my staff they will be by to negotiate the bill. I took over the transaction and informed the company there is no negotiation after signing estimate and I would reject their repairs in the future. Na Kia Kia full payment remit. Mmmchew
Say what you mean and mean what you say. Don't look for loopholes. I don't half commit to things. Either local man can or local man cannot. There is no local man cannot can.
If you signed the agreement posted above and know it doesn't work for you, find another platform. I hope you can say that again if one of the killed drivers were to be someone dear to you, how can you compare our job with yours? Is there anything life threatening in your line of work? Drivers died because they went by the rules and didn't ask for/ couldn't reject trips to destinations they shouldn't have and you expect us not to learn from that all because of Ts and Cs. Nigerian soldiers that ran away from boko haram in sambisa, was it in the contract they signed that they should run from insurgents? I've carried uber staffs before and I asked for destination not even knowing they were staff, yet they didn't block me because my way of approach didn't warrant being blocked so I dont know why y'all are fighting the fight for uber, leave them let them chase us from their platforms if they're not satisfied with our level of professionalism, it's not in riders place to tell me to find another platform, is it ya platform? |

izzou: Uber and Bolt only give more attention to riders. They have no protection for drivers
That car was probably hunted down with the help of a tracker, not Uber
People use fake names to register on Uber. I have picked riders with names like Jesus, Olokpa, etc... If this person commits a crime, how can Uber help in tracking him when they don't have a photo, no address, no ID and a phone number with rubbish details
You (the rider) are the one protected and being watched on Uber. The driver is in God's hands only You explained it a lot better than I did, but I'm sure he still won't understand |

UBER is why people enter your car. without uber, you are simply a dodgy looking guy in a corolla take you car round lagos and offer people rides and see how many will enter
or let me put it a different way
there are a lot of independent fuel marketers out there. the moment an independent partners with a major marketer, brands in the marketers colours, his sales can go up by 50 - 70% that is the strength of the brand what brand do you have? do you have anything that would bring a rider to you? or you think the sole factor between uber and yellow cabs is price?
why do you think uber insists on AC, and that your car is in good condition and not below a certain age
because that is part of their brand See the number of offline contacts I have. More than 51 and counting, I removed "OFF" from the names of some that now have very close relationships with me. This should shut you up... at least for now

thebigkendo: Uber added the SOS button and also sent some security advice warning/advice to partners They also added the "share your location" thingie for drivers & riders Bolt now asks drivers to ask for destination as from 9pm I think, but what about long trips that would start around 5pm but because of traffic end around 10pm in a very unsafe environment. That's why the rules have to be bent That sos button thingy won't do much, because you may not even have access to your phone during an attack, best bet is to avoid it when you can |

Interesting.
When we had a death on a site, the fallout was massive. So many things were changed.
I am frankly surprised that uber has not made any changes (or so you say) to their operations.
Then again, if they were able to catch the thieves immediately, it tells you they actually are tracking riders even if you think they are not doing so Why nw, why why why do you always find ways to twist everything inside out. Where did you read it that uber ever caught a rider that killed a driver? Okay let's even assume they do track riders, did the tracking save the driver's life? My cup is about to overflow lol, let me just go off NL and watch some lies (movies) |

Egypt is the biggest market for them and Some other African countries .. Those market are more important to them than Nigeria.. The only thing here is that uber is trying to get a strong grip ahead of everybody else regardless if the market is big or not ..more like a monopoly control.. We can agree to disagree at the sametime That Nigeria is not the biggest market doesn't mean it won't be a big deal losing Nigeria |

unfortunately, Uber is probably doing it naija style - waiting for someone to get killed on their platform before they roll out policies that ensure all riders are properly identified. Oh so you're not aware, well.. several drivers have been killed, nice drivers that didn't reject trips to awkward places, and nothing was done by uber/bolt, not even a simple compensation to the family they left behind. |

If at the end of the day, Uber partners are making total losses, nobody will tell the partners to quit.
And what do you mean by all that comfort? Uber standard is a clean car, AC and good shocks for a good ride. That is comfort enough. If you can't provide that then you have no business being on Uber. No one is expecting massage seats... You want good shocks and you also want drivers to always take you through bad roads, with the peanuts you're paying. It's like you dont know this is business, you think we're good samaritans doing charity work abi. If uber can be maintaining my car there's no road I will not ply to get you to your destination |

Instead you constantly do your utmost to get the rider to cancel It only takes 5 minutes of my time, I'm doing you a favour by asking you to cancel so as not to waste your time. If I'm to cancel, I will slide "arrived" and wait for 5 minutes, it won't have any effect on my activity rate |

thelastorca: Sounds like a classic case of self entitlement. I will take this platform which provides me with a steady and reliable stream of riders, but I will use kabu kabu mentality.
"I am my own boss."
Who is the alpha in this partnership? Who is the one laying out the conditions? Who is the one kicking people off the platform?
You are your own boss, start your taxi company. Some of the people here 'who are not uber' have their own fledgling companies and are hear to gain insights.
Eateries, major petrol stations, supermarkets, are all partnerships between a big company and a dealer. The company provides support and infrastructure, the dealer sells the companies goods and acts within their policies.
The dealer is also his own 'boss'. But in most cases the corporation calls the shots
Uber has the upper hand. There are far more people willing to become riders at even more stringent conditions Okay uber is the boss, tell them to bring their own cars and drivers if they can And you riders have no choice than to patronize us because you people too like awoof. I dare you to vex and stop using uber, use yellow taxi instead. No you can't, they charge more for less luxury |

I personally have no issues with a driver who cancels, but cancel on your driver's app. If you depend on the riders to cancel so you can continue your business, then ....... The moment I notify you I won't be able to take the trip, I'll politely ask you to cancel just to save your time. If you insist I cancel it will only take me 5 minutes of my plenty time.. and your little time |
