radautoworks: I never expect Uber drivers to help me with bags because I know they are not chauffers. They are private individuals giving people rides for a fee. Overseas they don't help you with bags and we don't expect them to. Some nice ones do but it's not part of the job description. Rider's protect their ratings there because no one will come carry you. I suggest you guys start doing the same if you're not already doing so. Rating can be seen BEFORE accepting the trip I used to do it before, if your rating is below 4.0 I will just let your request slide. That was before water pass garri |

peeps4u: You did it for peace, which was good.
All depends on mood, at times on a certain day, you may not do that. Another driver may decide not to do that, that doesnt make the driver wrong also, but some riders will think it is wrong because some drivers do it. She will expect all drivers to do it because bazoo did it, the best I could do in that situation was to park all her stuff from my booth to the floor beside the car, if she like make she no come out come carry am. I mean look at the rude manner she even said it. For me it's a NO NO |

BAZ001: I want to assume most drivers don't look at the riders ratings again. Once I see u have a low rating and you are a lady, I will just prepare my mind, if your tune on d phone is somehow I will either cancel without telling u or go their and ignore any insult. I've dropped a unilag girl before with plenty loads in d booth and she said oga pls help me bring my bags to d house and she went inside. I sat in d car for minutes not knowing what to do? Las las I carry bag inside oh. Saw her gisting with her friends on bed. Uber says I shouldn't do that, but did it for peace I am disappointed |

Frankdamaxx: So you feel the riders just book Uber because they are bored and like moving aimlessly around Lagos? A riders time and money is valuable. So I take offense when you say we don't have anything to lose.
As for the yellow taxi, you cant vex for them because you don't have any expectations of them coming to pick you rather you flag down or go to their locations. Uber promised us to expect the driver. Okay stay there and be expecting, because uber said that then you have to abuse it. If you don't make yourself available in a conducive pickup location, drivers will cancel and cancel and cancel and cancel and cancel...... And NOTHING will happen |

Mrsefe: Good morning all. A card trip/ride was ordered on taxify for my grandmother . The driver took her to the location and requested for cash of 3000 claiming is the cost of the fare. He was acting to be in a hurry that my grandma couldn't call me but had to pay 3000 to him. I found out in the evening of that 29th and called him and he claimed he didnt know it was a card trip that he will refund. We had a chat too. Called him all through yesterday but he refused picking. The trip was even actually 2800. My grandma feels so bad and wants her money back. How can someone be so mean to cheat an old woman of 80+? Hope you have reported him to bolt? Take the matter to Twitter and tag bolt with the screenshot of the trip and that of your chat with him, they respond quicker that way. That is one heartless driver I must say |

Frankdamaxx: For me the Uber driver was at fault. Don't accept a trip you know you cant make, and if you accept and cant make it, the onus lies on you to calm the rider down for rejecting the trip.
I know there are Nigerian peculiarities (bad roads, short distances, traffic, poor security) that affect the acceptance rate for drivers but be upfront and explain quickly.
Uber promised their riders convenience, comfort and flexibility. That's the mindset I have when booking for an Uber. I'm not sure you read from the beginning |

Perkins1: No Izzou you're changing the narratives. The rejecting of the ride even with a genuine explanation warranted the smeering SMS and hence his response.
Now.. A MECHANIC has rejected my car because of his reason, and I sent an SMS dats y you're a MECHANIC! Now you can only reason it because you were not the one outside at 12am being dragged because you couldn't render a service you signed for. You people just like using this statement without considering the present challenges the driver is facing to make him decline your request. That was how a rider was yelling at me to disobey soldiers that stopped my car in traffic because their convoy was passing, I just looked at her like this

thelastorca: Gazzuz and Rd autoworks own their platforms.
If I am self employed, I can choose to reject jobs. However as an employee/partner I may not have that leverage, depending on the terms of my employment/ agreement. This may be where you all get it wrong, so you think ride sharing drivers are not self employed? Well I'm telling you now that we don't work for these companies, we're partners. They don't tell us when and when not to work. we can choose to go offline for months and return anytime we want. That's possible because we are not employees, we are partners. We only have an agreement binding us, it is not in the agreement that we will insult riders who insult us but it happens anyway just as it is not in our agreement with bolt that riders will run away with fares and we will bear the loss but it happens anyway. So try and correct this mentality of drivers have no choice and have to take any bullshit thrown at them. My last trip on uber was July 13th, I feel cheated by them and I dropped their app, and with all honesty I don't miss them one bit because there are other options. Bolt is there, indriver is there so if I can't take nonsense from my partner that makes the work possible, who is just one unfortunate rider out of million riders? Respect is reciprocal. P.S. This post is not particularly directed at you @thelastorca

radautoworks: She was rude, definitely but let's try to see the other side for a second. It's 12am (there are legitimate reason why she could have been out at that time before criticism starts), she needs a ride in a somewhat remote location, she thinks she has one then the carpet is yanked out from under her. It's possible he wasn't the first one she had gotten who had also cancelled, she's frustrated and he just got it. She may have just gotten in an argument with her man and was upset and just wanted to go home, etc..
Again, she was definitely out if line but it doesn't necessarily mean that was typical behavior for her. Before you respond, read below and think.

calabardick: They should better read and learn, in as much as I don't trouble you, you've no right to trouble me, if you try it na 3MB I'll end your trip, treat your fvckup and kick you out of my car. Uber have authorise us to abort any idiotic trip.
I see one lowlife punk downgrading drivers because he feels he's working with a heavenly downstream or whatever. I personally work with an upstream - E & P (Automation Engineer, studied and certified in Brazil ), works offshore (2 weeks in/out). I resigned from a reputable military service to further my studies. Instead of staying idle I decide to romance uber, it's fun and stressful out there, it resets my brain as well.
Driving with uber have expose me to both angels and demons, it really shaped my life in so many ways, I've learned a lot.
Drivers deserves to be respected, it's not easy.
On Friday I picked one nasty lady that was insulting and commanding me to drive like James Bond, I ignored her and she tapped my shoulder from behind and said "mr. Man I'm talking to you", I didn't say anything and she began ranting, I ignored her. According to airtel THAT THING DEY PAIN.
When we get to Blenco she mannerlessly asked me to stop for her to shop, and I did. She get inside, I followed her, we shopped at the end of the shopping I purposely stood behind her, my items were 10x more than what she picked and she asked me who I am, I humbly showed her my IDs when we entered the car, that's when sudden humility overshadowed her she now switched to the front seat, I ended the trip there, gave her a free ride to gulf at lakowe, without collecting a kobo from her for the entire ride. When she asked me why I offer her a free ride, I told her UBER DRIVERS AREN'T POOR.
She called around 11pm, I didn't pick her call, she dropped a message [just checking on you]
For their information, I use iPad for uber, fuuuck CEOs 1 million likes |

I may not be an Uber driver but I follow this thread to understand the life of one and try to see what might be helpful to one. donfortune48: Just forget what happened bro. Your rider was a hungry man/woman.
I once took 3girls from Marina to Farmcity admiralty around 9pm. They entered and said Oga please be fast, follow the fastest route, please don't enter traffic.
I went through Ikoyi link bridge cos it's the fastest and even the shortest distance. On approaching the toll one Shouted, oga why did you follow this place?
Me: what's wrong with this place?
Rider: cos we will pay extra #100. You should have followed the other one.
Me: is #100 a problem to you.
Rider: yes. Do you know if we have money?
Me: I will discount #100 for you at the end of the trip.
Rider: Thank you sir.
Some things are negligible bro. That's how one rider told me before she even came out that "it's a short trip and estimate says N500, if it's above that she won't pay" I told her to come, when I start the trip I will do manual calculation and give her my own estimate. When I calculated the fare manually it was 600 and I told her, she insisted that it was 500 they showed her, I just realized madam had only 500 and didn't know how to say it. I then told her "don't worry, since you've informed me beforehand I will collect 500" I ended trip and it was truly 600, I showed her but collected 500. She was grateful and all smiles |

The man sat in the front seat and his secretary (Male) was asked to sit at the back. Baba was just making official calls and getting jobs done as we drove about. Even when the map took me to a different place, the man didn't complain, he just said be observant and careful... These things are treacherous!
