Rule #1: As a driver, don't be the first person to tell Rider to do Offline. Let them decide.

Rule #2: When rider is going to destination with bad road. Tell Rider as far you can go.
For me, there are some trips that rule #1 will not apply. For example a rider requests a ride to Ibadan from Lagos and I will do it online. Am I mad?

Believe it or not I sold my Honda Pilot this year for this very reason. For the past three years the car had been sitting in the compound, chopping comprehensive insurance, vehicle license and road worthiness, while being driven once or twice a year.

The last time I chose to drive it, it started misbehaving. Stopped before we got out of the house. So I sold it. Should have done so years ago.

Obviously that is not my only car. I am presently semi retired. Working with a friend in gbagada.I am sure you know how the road is, with all the construction going on. Why stress myself facing two hours of traffic when I can pay someone and travel in cold ac for 2k5?

If you even try to read between the lines you will realize I am an above average earner with more choices available . Better face your cheap hustle and stop trying to derail this thread

He expects to be worshipped because he's a rider, he's the type that looks down on drivers and sees them as nobody. You can see how he keeps saying without Uber drivers will go hungry not knowing that many drivers are richer than him. This is the type of rider that will request to send you yam grin

uber and all of them should leave jare. i will simply go back to kabu kabu, and you will go back to being hungry - and justifiably so. since all you can do with an opportunity is abuse it. you are the type of punk who will steal oga's petrol, madam's jewellery, bomboys coke. after all, you are hungry and therefore you deserve it.
Oga stop lying, before Uber you used to jump danfo. We know people who can pay for kabukabu and you don't sound like one of them. You're the type that will stay at bus stop and find 2 or 3 people going towards your destination and contribute little amount each to order Uber. Pretending to care about Uber when it's your N400 cancellation fee you were actually about to have a heart attack about. Who are you to say someone deserves to be hungry? You that you're not hungry why don't you go and buy your own car and be driving it through your flooded horrible festac inner roads. Alaroro rider

if you cannot cope with uber, get yellow cab
who knows what nonsense you would have gotten up to as an employee

i worked in a downstream major. I was just thinking about some station managers who had been promoted to station dealers. several of them have been sacked. because they were all adjusting pump like there was no tomorrow, spoiling the brand of the company for their own gains. these fellows had been employees of dealers, and they had been elevated to become dealers themselves. a little self discpline, a little patience - but no they immediately went all out on a pump adjusting spree.

my point - there are always excuses. guess what - everyone knows where shoe dey pinch. you do not want to manage, you do not want to live within your means. you will rather complain about your employer and look for how to cheat him.
it is also the same way we kept hearing of managers robbing the dealers blind. dealer will be disturbing you - i am not making returns, meanwhile it is the useless manager doing sharp practices. stealing millions from their oga.
You're the one always seeing everything, you're giving examples of others cheating someone else but you've not mentioned where you once did it. I know you're very holy, you've never cheated anyone in your whole life grin

the charge has already been reversed.
my anger is at employees and partners trying to defraud employers/partners

you are all complaining about uber, low returns, bad roads etc, as a justification for cheating uber
so if uber decides nigeria is not profitable and leaves, who loses?

you or them?

this is EXACTLY how nigerians [yes izzou, nigerians] destroy companies. they will all shout government, governors, but most of them are all scheming on how to cheat their employers into oblivion. they will tell you it is because they are hungry or some other story
If the fares are normal no driver would think of offline trips. Drivers are already being cheated by these ridiculously low fares forced down their throats. If you want to talk about being fair then you should suggest to Uber to hands off price decisions and focus on taking their commission from whatever price the driver charges riders.

Bad? Yes
Very bad? Depends on your definition

So far, the places I know that are very bad are 4th Avenue, 7th Avenue, parts of 23 road, 21 road and 51 road, parts of Ist avenue, and few others. Their major roads are not bad

And from his complain, the route to Festac is good. From Cele-2nd rainbow-Apple junction to Festac is okay.

Only the driver knows why he brought up the issue of offline for that route sha. Maybe I don't know anything
Do you know his exact destination? How are you certain it's not one of the areas you mentioned above? Only he and the driver know

your sim is registered in your name, not so?
when you are constantly changing jobs or company name, you are reducing the opportunities available to you

it is like undocumented work in the US . you may feel smart at the time, but the end result is gaps in your CV that you cannot explain.

so you continue misbehaving up and dan and reregistering with uber.

even if they dont catch you, you will forever be an entry level low end driver.

nigger behavior. think about long term
You're just contradicting yourself or you just don't get the point at all? I say it's easy for you riders to have multiple rider's account so it doesn't matter if you misbehave and Uber blocks you. Which one now is entry level low end driver, Dem tell you say promotion dey Uber job? cheesy

I am not missing your point sir

While you and I see your trip story as fraud, you(ornicus) didn't see my Festac/Agbara example as fraud. Because you agree that going online is not worth it. Not all offline suggestions are attempts to defraud. That's my point, sire

And for your example, yes, it's fraud
The bolded may not be true. The driver might have had a bad experience with festac inner roads before, that's why I asked if he was willing to end the trip at the bus stop because majority of their inner roads are very bad.

You guys should call a spade just what it is and stop defending bad attitude of one of your own.

The driver obviously didn't know it is his steady route, that is the only reason he came up with that bad road story.

I have noticed that on this thread, the driver is ever hardly ever at fault. It is always the rider with the bad attitude and everything.

When they call you out for yours, you start giving the story of riders not knowing what it takes to maintain a car. If you feel the platform isn't favourable for you- get da fûck off it.

well, hang around festac in the morning, or gbagada in the evening and lets run an experiment to find out. dangerous riders can always be blacklisted. it is why snoop dogg is banned from British Air. it is why companies issue disclaimers against some staff. if there is a series of verified complaints against a problem rider, he will simply be banned from the platform. no biggie
And he will simply register with another N200 Sim card, no biggie

The driver simply thought the token Uber would give him for that trip was not worth the stress he and the car would go through, reason he rejected it and asked for a better offer

That is your answer to the attempt of one of you to defraud Uber? Small wonder.

Exactly what I expected. The typical attitude of the Nigerian partner/employee. How do I get mine even if I destroy the business I am working with.
If you care so much about others' well being your conscience wouldn't allow you to be paying that token you're paying for such a luxury and still be threatening drivers who go through hell just to make ends meet. You don't care about him defrauding Uber, you only care about the higher fare you would pay if trip was done offline. cool

Usually I don't respond to issues like this, but for the sake of others that may have read it.. ON THIS PLATFORM (UBER PARTNERS I MEAN) WE WOULD HAVE INSTALLED MINIMUM OF 500 TRACKERS. WE HAVE BEEN DOING THIS SINCE 2015 AND NOT ONE PERSON HAS COMPLAINED ON THIS UBER PLATFORM (PLEASE CHECK OUR PROFILE). At the end of the day we may be unable to satisfy everyone.

If our systems were so bad trust me there will be more complaints online. I'll leave it at that for now but trust me we've rectified trackers THAT HAD MALFUNCTIONS FREELY FOR CLIENTS.

I want to believe you were asked to pay a token for the rectification and that may be the reason for this accusation.

Our mobile numbers remain 08137013426, 08060675824. No one will ignore your calls. Thanks for all the patronage from this Platform.

"An Adult should be responsible for his/her actions" but law enforcers will act like they don't know the right thing because they are hungry.
When the rider refuses, you park and end trip, and report immediately then tell him/her to gedifok.

In addition to the useful advice offered so far, if you suspect the bolded, we would recommend you get a report documenting the history from manufacture till it was shipped to Nigeria.

That would alleviate your concerns about any previous damage, accidents or otherwise. You would lose nothing by taking that step.
Accident or not, the car has been fixed. Just get a good mechanic to inspect physically and scan to know the present state of the car, that's the most important thing now. The price is fair enough, abi she should drop it free of charge because it may have an accident history? No down payment is required so I don't see much risk involved in the first place.
@Lin3r2 you better grab your opportunity because I don't see anyone here offering you another if you let it slip.
