Asides political risk and fiscal mismanagement affecting Nigeria, Ghana's Eurobond of 6.2% is 3 years old. Global financial situation in 2007 is different from 2011.
Too many people just dont get it,

1st Question they should ask is why the Govt is going to London Via Brussels

I usually do not share my personal problems on line but this one is beyond me and I seriously need advice. Also I have faith in the family section as been the only decent section on nland that give people reasonable advice. So all them Mature ladies ( chaircover, Outstrip, Jenny, Ifyalways, Sissy, Ujun etc) please I need ya all and everyone else.

There is a dilemma in my house right now and we are all stuck. Something terrible happend last night, My mom very very very best friend (they are like sisters) son came to sleep over, he is only 14yr, at the middle of the night, when everyone were sleeping around 12.30 to 1.00 mid-night, he quietly when into my sister room, according to her, she was fast at sleep, but she felt something cold rubbing her whole body from her waist down, she was was shocked to see it was him, unclothed, and ready to ra***pe her, shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked this boy is like the most Innocent most cuttest sweetest respectful boy you will see shocked shocked shocked very hard to believe, but I know my sis, she rarely lie. She is the blunt type, she may get in trouble but she never lies. So as surreal as it may be it is actually true. She said she caught him red heanded, slap him and sent him back to his room.

So it's morning here, and I have just been told this, I am sorry if am blaberring in my post, but i am still very shocked. Oh I forgot to say my sister is 28 yes 28!!! God I can not get over it, I used to admire this little boy so much. He actually has admitted to doing it, and he is still crying, he don't want us to tell his parents, cus his father is the hitler type, I swear to God he will kill his son if he gets to know, I know that man, We are kinda afraid to tell his parents, but then again my mom is thinking if we don't tell them, this despicable behaviour may just get worst as time go on.

So Mature people of nland I ask you please what do we do?
@Poster where did this happen, where are you? Nigeria or outside
the country,

People should tell us their location so we can do the analysis and
advise more well,

Atreides:
Ok so today i was watching tv and then my dad sent me on an errand. I didnt take my phone with me(looking back now,i cannot understand what possessed me to leave it behind),and when i came back i met him sitting down, calmly going through my phone. I dont have anything nasty on my phone-no lurid pics or vids, but i dont delete text messages. Thats the only 'incriminating' thing on my phone. I knew he'd read my messages because he had the 'boy' look(the one where his face gets hard and his eyes turn red if anyone so much as mentions boy). He then began his favorite lecture-the one about my education,my future, blah blah blah, completely glossing over the fact that he invaded my privacy. The worst part is that i dont even have a secret boyfriend. Heck,i dont have any kind of boyfriend, secret or public, and he was lecturing me for something im not even doing. The most painful aspect is that we get along swimmingly, but when it comes to boy mata,he is obsessed with protecting my virtue or worreva, completely overlooking the fact that if i wanted to be rotten i would be rotten, overprotective parent or not. Do you think it was right for him to go through my phone? P.s-Sorry for the long post. I needed to rant.
hmmm you just had to rant, hmm hmmm o.k u pay your own phone bills,

It remains simple, INEC DON PACK MONEY CHOP! SHIKENAH!
Dude i agree with you,

Dude, dont get it wrong, i am not under-estimating Naija Graduates
all i saying is that there are Nigerian Students and Graduates that can
figure out most software and systems under 1 hour becuase they have
laptops, IT games, IT Gadgets around them all the time.

This is just the plain truth, If those nigerian students
were operating these software, they would have got the job done quick.

Why did INEC not go to the Universities and get the Computer Science
undergrads students to do this or put an advert out to Internet cafe owners
to assist with thishuh

The Nigerians that know what to do were not called up! PERIOD!!!

You dont expect a Youth Corper who read english and got a 1st clas
to be able to use a voting/registration machine faster than a
Youth corper than read Computer Science!!!

Padi Padi Arrangement.

This is why i say it is business as usual for the corrupt elites under a government of GEJ  - The man has no balls.

In the whole of Nigeria we cant find someone that would  write a data entry software that captures basic details and a photo.

I am sure i can come up with crude microsoft access application in under 30 mins.

WHen i first heard of 87billion for ddc machines i initially thought it was some sophicated product and was so shocked to

see a

fuking Laptop, printer and webcam  grin.

I dont blame the graduate  it is a chicken before egg situation . How can one learn how to use a computer when you weren't trained with one.
wha!!!! 87 Billion naira, U JOKING RIGHThuh? These Guys are
straight up "Thieves"!!!

Thats $580 Million dollars! Give me a Break!

That bill should be no more than $20 million Dollars,

These guys cant be serious

The IT Gear would be about $4.5 Million and the other
cost £15 Million and once people are registered it could serve
as a national database for other Govt info,

WTF do you mean by 'were they easy to operate'? The so-called 'machine' is a LAPTOP. Why should any graduate need more than 10 minutes of training to become used to a mere data entry software layer running on Windows XP or Vista?

A HUGE number of corps members serving are dumbasses who cannot use a computer properly. I find INEC's position perfectly understandable.

Why shouldn't he have that expectation? Why should any graduate not be computer literate?

So what's going to be the solution? Can members of the public come in to assist? Or do they intend to extend the registration period by a week or two for the Corpers to get a good knowledge of how these machines operate?

The last election in 2010 in the UK, workers that wanted

It is true that INEC should accept the blame. However inability of those supposedly modern day graduates to have quick grasp of those machine should be blamed on all of us. If Nigerian University graduates do not have edge over non educated person, it is a gap that a right thinking government should use to access and correct our education system.
Obviously, INEC has overrated our  fresh graduates.

No this is INEC failing to own up to the rubbish plan they had.

How much training was given? how easy is it to operate these machines? are they the right machines for the job? Big questions that INEC should answer, instead of blaming corpers
Nah thats just trying to shift the blame dude.
How hard can a voting machine be! lol,

The Youth corpers were not good at getting used to a simple
voting machine because they are not used to gadgets.

And this is not an indictment on Nigerian youths and graduates.

My 10 year old Nephew in Nigeria is a "Straight guru/wiz"
with IT Gadgets becuase his father buys him all the latest gadgets
when he goes to the states, so my nephew literally grew up with
Electronics around him.

Anytime i come to Nigeria and he takes my phone
from me, he does things with it that i dont even know how to do
becuase he has been switched on due to "WII",X-BOX and all the other IT Gear
his dad gets him from the states.

Its about being used to things and exposure, that why a
Western based 16 year old kid that grew up liking IT Gadgets
would always be better than a Nigerian that has a Degree in Computer
Science which is mostly "Theory" and not "Practical".

Absolute rubbish. Did they train them properly? were the machines easy to operate? were they fit for purpose. This is just plain nonsese, because the writing was on the wall weeks before, but silly INEC failed to see anything.

In my opinion, lack of proper planning, and the use of the wrong equipment is to blame, not the poor corpers.
They may have giving them minimal training, but generally speaking
Nigerians are not used to computers, becuase they do not use
them regularly, like fellow graduates in Western countries.

The Youth Corpers are not used to using computers equipment Period!!!
And trust they would be many posers among them trying act "ITK"
instead of staying focused on getting the Done.

INEC Fumbled and did not do their market research well.

The should have come to the UK and head-hunted British Born-Nigerian youths
between the age of 17-18 who can do wonders with Retail/Counting machine software due to extensive work-experience at "Tesco","Sainsburies", "Foot-locker" "JD Sports" etc ROFLMAO!!!

Their British/Grime accent may make it hard for the Home based Nigerians
to understand them but believe you me they would HAVE gotten the Voting Registration Job Completed in a week!! lol!

why would the total imposistion of  sharia law on nigeria  suddenly become the agenda of the north now, by the way Babangida secured nigeria's membership  of the OIC in 1986 and no-one accused him then of imposing sharia on non muslims then.

Dude Stacie father was a uni-student at the time in 1968
and the law of the land in the USA was not favourable to
minorities in this issue. He got a white girl pregnant and
the white girls wishes is what the court of law would uphold
in 1968 and also stacie father was not a citizen of the USA.

Also the Nigerian civil war was already on and their is no
way he was taken her back to a war zone. The USA Govt would not
allow it. They did not recognise biafra!

A foster home and adoption was the best option for him
at the time although it was not the fathers decision to make.
As i said the law was heavily in the white mothers favour, its was 1968,
segregation was still on, the father was not an american citizen and was
from a country (ie briafra) that the USA govt did not recgonise at the
time so it was not in his power to do much to determine his daughters destiny

She kind of like a female-moses to the father now *life is really strange like that!!!

As nice as it might be for them to want to practice their newly discovered tradition, tradition should not apply to people who did not grow up, did not know about and do not understand the tradition, ESPECIALLY retrospectively!

If they had been the ones insisting on practicing the tradition, that it fine. I find it EXTREMELY disgusting someone else suggested it and they had to (most likely out of courtesy) agree. More disgusting as it has a financial implication.
I agree wih you on this dude, but also to add after looking at this
issue more closely, it does not appear that it was an issue
of the father leaving the mother and child.

Stacie was born in the 60's (1968) and even though her father got
stacie mother pregnant, it looks like it was near impossible for
them to have a relationship considering the racial climate
of america at that time (1960's just coming out of legal segregation)
and also the fact of the nigerian civil war would have "put a
nail in that coffin" of the father taking his child with him.

Ibos were being monitored and some of them interned during the war period.
One of my Dads friend in London was put in custody due to his ties
with the Biafran Govt in 1969.

I guess the racial issue and the nigerian war issue of that time
may have complicated the issues of the father taking his child and the
laws at that period favoured the white mother, so she must have made the
decision of giving up the child to a foster home due to the racial pressue
and climate of the time.

Stacie must have gotten the truth out of her biological mother
through her foster parents and if the biological father was not "the guilty party"
she would not have gone looking for him. The foster parents must have
told her the truth and i guess she also went to her
biological mother if she was still alive and got more info.

I could be wrong but man leaving in the USA in the 60's was not easy as a
black person and to get a white girl pregnant was like inviting "colossal issues"!!!
Even living in the UK in the late 60's/70's was not easy as my Dad told me!!!!
notice how how she nver mentions the biological mother in the reports!!! hmmm

Sorry Dude, did not mean to make you "sick"
but i guess that was one of the "SHOCKERS" of my life.

I had turned "18" and my dad sat me down with my older brother
and said their are some things he had to tell me now
so that i did not get any un-expected surprises or revelations
from relatives or family friends.

My uncles antics in the states
with african-american women was one of them plus some other
shocking tales about things that my father/mother experienced
that they kept from us(their children) untill we had to be told
in order to prepare for adulthood.

I worked with a mixed race ibo girl who was born and raised
in Nottingham a few years back and i could not understand why she
avoided me in the office and did not want to relate with me untill
we went out for "office-xmas lunch" and then i asked her about her father
and he face went *pale*!!!

she said she did not know him as he left when she
was nearly 1 year old, i suggested that she should track him down
via "home office" etc, well a couple of months later she came
to me in the office and told me that she had located her dad and he was coming to
visit her in London.

I dont know why but i felt like ashamed of being
a Nigerian guy since the time she told me of the Dads bail-out untill she
found him, but if you could see the "look on her face after she found her father"
it was so un-explainable and amazing, she later told me she had enrolled to learn
the igbo language at a learning centre and she said the bitterness and
pain in her heart had been healed by just meeting her dad, she says she has
2 half brother and 3 half sisters. she went to Nigeria with the Dad and Boyfriend
to visit them.

I wish my uncle could come clean too, he knows that i know about his "LOVE-CHILD"
in america, not knowing who fathered you is not an easy issue to leave with!!!

Good for her, but the father would only be interested because she is now
"FAMOUS" and the Nigerian Embassy in America is only doing this
for "branding and image reasons", ITS A BIG SHAME !!!

And this FAMOUS lady is only one of the countless many Nigerian children
who mothers were Impregnated by Nigerian Men who quickly dissapeared
or gave the child up for adoption as they did not want to bear the responsibility or
they did not want to Marry an African American woman or bear the wahala
of a mixed Nigerian child.

My father told me of various top guys who are successful men in Nigeria
that he knew of schooled with that have "Love-children" in America & Europe!!!

AND MY UNCLE IS A CULPRIT OF THIS FOOLISHNESS!!!

He got an African American girl Pregnant afte Graduating from
UNI in America and then he dissappeared to Nigeria!!!

sO Many Nigerian guys did this in the 70's and early 80's as my Father
told me, so sad.

I also agree with what  you say about Buhari's personal qualities - he does come across as disciplined and reasonably honest in comparison to the likes of OBJ and Jonathan  - thats why i added a further comment above about who i would chose if it were between Jonathan and Buhari.  On the whole we need  a fresh and younger more radical breed of leaders who have not been corrupted by power as i think its now time for these old men to accept that they have nothing new to offer the nigerian people.
The way i see it is that with all the arguements and jostling
for position as President and supporters of "would be president"
in cabinet/Top Diplomatic & Bureau positions,
the  powers that be (The West) do not want to rock the boat,
In this current climate of Terrorism and its Stigma on Islam "The West" do not
want a Northern Nigerian in "Aso Rock", so they would rather go with
Johnathan,

That my Realist Analytical Position, and with all these Boko-Haram
(Def:Western or non-Islamic education is a sin, Imagine that!!!)

factions running around with "mis-placed zeal" in Northern Nigeria
i guess this is like a real NO NO!!! for any so called Northen President to
to win come April 2011.

I just cant see it happening, Its gonna be Johnathan for the
Next four years till 2015.
