I dont have to agree with you to be in the same league with you. No one wants to know anybody's status here online, beside, the person you are talking about might be way, way off above your so called league without you knowing. That is why you dont throw such punches at who u dont know or have never met.

Anyhow, I am glad you know we are not in the same league. Thats the only point you have genuinely made.

not true. most nigerians in Nigeria don't know what's happening in NIgeria.

as an american i have access to any piece of information in the world about anything in the world. I can tell you the temperature in Jos way before someone in an Akwa Ibom village can.

There's 3 computers in my house alone and i went through one of the world's best education systems (or at least one several times better then Nigeria's). Most Nigerians don't know anything past their immediate reality due to a lack of access to information (libraries, good schools, electricity, computers, information based television ect.)

diaspora nigerians even heard nigerian music before nigerians do now.
the MINUTE it drops, where as nigerians hear it once it's popular in their area.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Ahhh sooo true, The truth be told, Nigerians in the Diaspora
know more about what is happenning in Nigeria than Nigerians living in Niaja themself.

When i was in Nigeria late last year, i was discussing with a lecturer friend
and also some businessmen and a student. They were suprised how i knew
more about the Infrastructure projects, the major capital projects, the Energy
policy(es), etc, as you said, we have access to more info and also we
have stronger network of people online to contact about real time events
in every part of Nigeria due to cheaper phone calles, free internet call sites
and other things,

Then also i think another advantage i have seen is that i call the top
offices both private and public and ask to speak to directors and executives
to chat about things and i am mostly put through without hestitation (i guess it
just because i calling from abroad). but when put through i can chat with this
people for about 5-10 minutes and make arrangements to see them when they
are in my part of town abroad,

Fast & cheap access to Information Technology giveS Nigerians abroad an edge
when it comes to what is happening.

I am at my Business office right now, but i can log into NL & other websites at least every 10 minutes in an hour to check whats happening,

Most Nigerians in the Diaspora do not know what is happening in Nigeria. They sit oblivious to what is happening. They enjoy Nigerian parties, say how proud they are to be Nigerian and act like nothing is wrong.

They go to the posh areas of Lagos or go to Abuja and believe all of Nigeria is like that.

Nigerians in the Diaspora are not connect to what is happening in Nigeria. I am pretty sure that most Nigerians do not know where Jos is located in the map unless they have family in the region.
Dude why r u talking like that!
I am a Nigerian who is always in and out of the Country!
Nigerians in the Diaspora are making a very significant contribution to
the Country, at least the $10 Billion dollars that they send
evey year to Nigeria is an example that they care,

And also if i did not care about Nigeria, about 25 People would lose
there Jobs as i would just shut down my investment in Naija and they
will be unemployed in Lagos, so lets be rational about this!

ElRazur:
This is about the most sensible thing you have said all night. Please keep it up.

I mentioned what you are now saying in my first post in this thread, and I went as far as using myself as an example of how I have no desire or strong urge to die for nigeria (a death that may perhaps bring about change or catalyst to change I am talking about here)

In my opinion, I feel things have to be really bad before we can see anything close to a mass protest. Having said that, the mind set in which my people have can be counter-productive to any feeling of mass protest. After all, things were worse under most military rule and my people did nothing.
I mentioned the Social Activist and Preacher - Tunde Bakare, Nigerians need to rally around the right people ie like him (Tunde Bakare), but even the Penticostal Socio-Politcal base Leadership in Nigeria are soo passive due to no Understanding or knowledge of Political Economy that the people who follow them are just "sheeple" of the worst kind.

TUNDE BAKARE IS RIGHT NOW "THE NIGERIAN BISHOP DEMOND TUTU", and a Nigerian that cannot see that is really Ignorant of who to rally around!, Bakare will not lead Nigeria, but the charismatic and Political Economic Astute leader that will arise in Nigeria has to be cut from the "Heart and Mind cloth"
like this man (Tunde Bakare) and i may even go further to say that, that leader would be influenced by such a man or men of Bakare's  Heart & character!

Every true leader has great mentors and great influencers they can point too!

This is my last attempt of trying to reason with you.

This thread is about trying to ask if Nigerians can unite and demand change.

You on the other hand are just providing answer to a question no one is asking.

Brotherhood or no brother hood, that has been mentioned already on several news channel, however it is not relevant to this debate.

Finally, having Egyptian friends and what not means what exactly to the thread at hand?

huh
Dude, dont be daft, the brotherhood has not been mentioned on any news channel, dont try and play smart,

And in regards to Nigerian Unity, i am giving you the answer, the base/foundations for any
effective movement for change is weak,

The only glimmer of hope or someone making a relevate stand is that "informed Preacher" Tunde Bakare,

The rest of the advocates and so called change NGO's and Politicians in Nigeria are just blowing smoke!!!

Dude, your views are not saying anything not known already. Some even pointed out it was irrelevant to the post at hand.

All you appear to do is just ignore what's been said and try to post something else.

Let me ask you this, do you think the situation in Nigeria is the same or similar to the events leading to protest in the aforementioned nations?

Do you think the people in Nigeria are able to stand up and unite and demand the resignation or stepping down of those in power without letting tribalism or religion bigotry play part?
Dude the Social Cohension and group dynamic in Nigeria is not strong in any Political sense
at the grassroot/Base or at the top, and the running elite in Nigeria ie the Military Elite  a.k.a Nigerians
shadow Goverment know this,

The case is totally different in North Africa,

Did you actually watch the speech on Youtube or are you going by what somebody told you? I have mentioned that the only place I saw her tumble was in trying to pronounce a South African name. Please point me to any other part of the speech where she stumbled.

The fact that she does not speak with a British accent does not mean she cannot read. Did you hear the following people speak when they were in power:

Murtala Mohammed
Shehu Shagari
Sani Abacha
Olusegun Obasanjo
Umaru Yar'adua

Did you raise similar complaints? If not, you should because they all had thick Northern or Southern Nigerian accents.

1) Are Egyptians not rioting in the streets of Egypt?

2) Are people not being injured by the police and calling for freedom?

What exactly is are you trying to deny is the case here?

@Poster, like someone said, More Nigerians would rather make excuses and create reasons for why inaction is the best action for Nigeria. It seems only muslims willing to die in the name of Sharia do the fighting in this country. Everyone else seems more in the business of producing excuses for why nothing of the sort should happen in Nigeria.
