youngmonie:You got that right, The is no real time development in Teaching in Nigeria and especially at the secondary level. Nigerians students need to be aware of General global trends and Knowledge. I went back to my Alma mater in 2009 and they are still archiving manually, hardly any computers!!! I was asked to speak at one of the SS3 Classes Who were having a Government class. I gave a talk about political economy and how Govt policy is fundermentally supposed to develop strong institution to boost economic and social growth, Spoke about the GDP of Nigeria, Energy sector, Information Techonolgy, China and it impact on Nigeria etc. The students were looking amazed and were so focused that you could here a pin drop!!!. I used my Netbook & a mini-projector and aslo played short Youtube clips to illustrate my points. They were literally begging me to come back as i speant three days there from Monday to Wednesday. I was so impressed with their hunger that i thinking about starting an IT project in the school. We need to challenge our younger generation mentally. |
hmm just finished watching the 1st part, the chinese businessman/tourist said we are here to make money!!! |
BBC2 Documentary 2nite 9pm:Chinese are Coming to Nigeria/Africa The Chinese are coming to Africa with a "Mission" https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/images/episode/b00ykxg9_303_170.jpg This Documentary focuses on the Chinese and the role they are playing economically in Africa. For the the BBC to be looking at this means the British are aware of the new International business competition in what they term as their Back-yard (Africa) but they really want to know how the Africans feel about the chinese presense. Looks Interesting and should be a good watch, shall post video's here when it airs. |

Do you guys know what the "IEA" even stands for and what are their objectives. You can examine a problem from the fruit try looking at the seed & root, |
Kobojunkie:With this your post i can see you are a "real babbler" please go back to sleep, and stay off the Gari & Egusi Soup is making you too hyper-active for no good reason, |
Kobojunkie:Good Grief!!! what rock did you crawl up under from? U are just as bad as your fello sista ma j blige on NL, Always putting their foot in the mouths when they speak, |
Ma_J_Blige:Why is it that When you actually talk and give your own opinion instead of "copying and pasting from Google" you always put your foot in your mouth ![]() The statement you made above has relegated you according to the "Lower Division" of Ignorance, |
afam4eva:Yeah but 90% of the Economy is Finance/Banking and most of its companies are based abroad ie "Nestle" which bring in Agricultural Produce and other raw material which enables them to produce Pharmaceticals etc, Take for example Nestle, its based in Nigeria and makes products for the local Nigerian market but its main aim is to to secure agricultural Land in Nigeria (Ogun state most notable) to export agric resources back to Switzerland. But let us not stray from the main topic, Why is the UK wealthy |
Knight1:hmm very good point, London or really "The Square mile" which is called the "City of London" is an International Banking and Trading center but is built is self up that way in the 17th Century through Trade expeditions (all the explorers that you read about like Mango Park were sent on Expeditions by Kings & Queens of Britain and Wealthy Merchants to discover new lands so that they could obtain wealth (Naural Resources). The Explorers would sometimes go with a peaceful crew to the new land or island and make friends with the natives and spy out the land. And would leave peacefully only for the Explorer to return later with the British Navy/Army to strike a deal with natives or to conquer the land/island, Thats how Britian obtained its Resource wealth, by making agreements & later breaking them for conquest, |
afam4eva:Switzerland is a International Private Banking Center. so they make their money primarily by storing money which comes from other countries but honest & stolen wealth. |
ShangoThor:Whoa!!! This dude is so on point!!! You are correct, Please people keep on digging the truth out, |
eku_bear:Oh Yes! I like what u said here, this is the kind of topic all nairalanders should be interested in, We know that Germany has Iron Ore and other base metals But what does the British have? And also remember that the UK is a "Net Importer Country" Please this topic must be discussed very very very well It should be a case study topic for 2011, |

Fashola signs N450b budget, fortifies state security He has also boosted security in the state. Before signing the budget yesterday, Fashola handed over 100 patrol vans and 50 motorbikes to the state's Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), charging security operatives not to use the equipment to torment law-abiding citizens they were to protect. The patrol vans and other security equipment, if judiciously used, according to Fashola, would ward off criminally minded-people from the state, or they risk being arrested and brought to justice. He declared that Lagos had been cleared of major security threats that once disturbed night life, saying: "Lagos is now safe on land, water and in the air with the number of patrol vehicles, patrol boats and the two helicopters acquired for the RRS for effective policing of the state." But on the occasion of formal signing of the budget, Fashola noted that the state executive and legislature had jointly worked on the budget so that it would have meaningful impact on the people on whose behalf they were elected to serve. Meanwhile, Lagos State governorship candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) Dr. Abayomi Mumuni, has promised to make the state self-reliant in electricity supply, even as he carpeted Fashola for not doing enough. Speaking at a press conference in Lagos yesterday, Mumuni said his government would embark on the process of addressing the enormous infrastructural challenges in the state at the same tempo with human capital development if elected into office. According to him, the incumbent governor has done well but a lot still needs to be done in the state infrastructure. |
Princek12:Dude the Night is still young and the Wine is still fresh, The year has just started, lets see how this plays out in a few months time and then we can weight the pro's and con's , right now Nigerians and Black Africans should just sit tight and watch very carefully what is happening, This looks to good to be true, "all this people power rising" lets wait and see, |
Ma_J_Blige:O.K MY BAD, !!! yeah i want a "Big-Bucket of Kenturky fried chick!! |
Princek12:Dude i agree wit you, it like entering into a Business Partnership, you have to know something about you "partner to be", you cant enter blindly, |
Ujujoan:But you do agree that a couple should learn about each other before doing an "altar job", i mean come on i got to know something about the ladyeee lol! |
bidemi12:Oxygen to life, come on now, i learning something valid today!!! Hmmm you got to check that the pressure in the cabin is just right before you take of from the "run-way" (Wedding) and soar to 40,000 feet!!! lol, Better to check than to get sooo high (years into the marriage) and the pressure in the cabin drops and you are running out of air!!! lol! |
zayhal:I I understand what you are saying zayhal but i think the poster was trying to illustrate a valid metaphoric/indictive point. The marital prep period will give you an idea of the type of question that will show up in the "martital exam hall" lol. You gotta have some signs and clues!!! |
Plutarch:GOOD GOD DUDE!!! Thats an Original !!! Could not have said it better myself, ![]() But i have a question, Is the exam in question equivalent to 1 - Common Entrance 2 - WAEC 3 - JAMB 4 - 1st Degree Convocation 5 - Master Thesis Please can you let me know what level between 1 - 5 the "Marital Exam" is prepared for, ROFLAMO!!! |
Ma_J_Blige:Just read it, Gabon, Ghana was mentioned as issuing their bonds also, o well, the Bankers boys of London & New york kind of feel that its worth the risk as West Africa is the place to Invest due to the New Discovery of Energy resources there and considering that saturation of risk in Central Asia & the Middle East. I guess they feel comfortable since AFRICOM is in town in that neck of the Global Woods (US Military Base @ Sao Tome of the Gulf of Guine-West Africa). |
Jen33:Dude your right. you hit the nail on the head!!! Anybody trying to counter your point is not looking at it correctly, Naija Govt even has fuel subsidy to keep the price low, |

And all you ITK's chatting rubbish should close your mouths, *************************************************** Well Well Well! i gues the apples do not fall too far from the tree A leopard can not change his spots, its the same charade being played out again. Most of you were thinking i was chatting "crap" when i said that Mr Olusegun Aganga (we worked for the same company - Goldman sachs) was just trying to cut his former employees in on the Nigerian National cake. Well this news article confirms it, I am not really happy or feel vindicated as this is just sad that this dude (Aganga) is being influenced to issue this Euro-bond via the City of London (London Stock exchange) I knew he was going to place this Bond-Issue in London and make his former our fomer Employee's (G.S) the Lead Advisor/Under-writters of this Bond. I guess JPM (J P Morgan), Pimco and the other crew are not too far behind, Naija we hail thee!!! ************************************ FG selects London Stock Exchange for First Sovereign debt issue Tuesday, February 1, 2011 The nation's first sovereign debt issue was on Monday admitted to trading on the London Stock Exchange (LSE)'s Main Market following its choice by the Federal Government. Katsumoto:These countries you mentioned are running Budget/trade surplasses so they would have no need to borrow. And besides these countries especially Germany and Japan are producing real goods ie Manufactured goods and so they are economically strong and do not need to borrow Financial Capital when they have the real capital which is "Intellectual Property capital. Germany is even the one bailing out countries like Ireland & Greece, countries that hollowed out their economies and therefore do not produce anything of substance. |
Whoa ! u guys are still here arguing this point? 15,233 views and still on the 1st Page of Politics! Man this goes to show how "hung up" nigerians are on trying to be "the masters of another mans languague", sheeezzzz!!! |
Beaf:HERE HERE (clapping ) , !!! STANDING OVATION, Our Military needs to protectour citizens from harm or danger at home, the Bad eggs should be discipled, |
eku_bear:Well what do you expect, Lagos state at the moment just has a natural advantage when it comes to tax revenue ie The airport, the sea-port, the land port, International & Major national businessess (business rates), the tolls, transport etc. Then when you throw in all the FTZ's which i gonna be built there and Eko Atlantic, its goona be a tax-mans paradise! I guess only rivers state, Kaduna & Abuja comes close for Internal revenue generation. Maybe Enugu state will start generating some revenue with the International Airport status, States have to become self reliant and stop relying solely on the allocation from "oil & gas" The bond issues is kind of a sensible move as the projected revenue generation in the near future is going to increase and most of the bonds are bought by wealthy nigerians anyway so Lagos state owes the debt to itself (Nigerians) |
The IEA man is an Egyptian and is out there protesting, but you have immediately labelled him a WESTERN INTEREST?
