APC Offers Night Registration For Ashamed PDP Members In EnuguBy Nnamdi Mbawike, Enugu
As the ongoing nationwide registration/ membership revalidation exercise of the All Progressives Congress (APC) continues, the Enugu state caretaker committee chairman of the party Dr. Ben Nwoye, has urged the electorate, including members of the peoples Democratic party PDP in the state to use the opportunity to embrace the Nigeria’s ruling party.
Nwoye, who spoke shortly after revalidating his membership of the APC at his Afianwakpaka 00-12 polling unit in Amuri ward in Nkanu West local government area of Enugu State, said the APC was ready to offer registeration to members of the PDP who are ashamed to come out in the daytime.
He assured that the APC was prepared to welcome all including “our brothers and sisters willing to dump the sinking PDP ship for our party.
He said: “if you dont want to come during the day time to register, may be because you are ashame, we are ready and willing to register you in the night.”
The Enugu APC boss, who was recently appointed a federal Commissioner in the Consumer Competition Commission, representing Southeast , said the ongoing exercise is a vital in the nation’s s democratic process, because “for you want to vie for any election, including president, or governor, you must be a member of a registered political party.
Nwoye, particularly called on the people of his locality and entire Nkanu West Council area to identify with the APC, “especially for the fact that we have benefitted from the party.
“For instance, by the Grace of God, today, a federal Commissioner representing South East, courtesy of APC, We have the the Nigerian Ambassador to Poland, in the person of General Chris Ugwu (Rtd) and the member representing South East in the Police Service Commission PSC, Barr. Onyemuche Nnamani, three of us are from Nkanu West.
“So, with all these appointments our people of Nkanu West don’t have any reason not join APC enmass via the ongoing registration exercise .
Meanwhile, the Director-General of the Voice of Nigeria, VON, Mr. Osita Okechukwu has declared that the on-going membership revalidation and registration exercise of the All Progressives Congress, APC, met the constitutional provisions of the party and will most importantly make the people the genuine owners of the party, not Godfathers.
Okechukwu spoke in his Eke ward in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, weekend, where he revalidated his membership of the party.
He said he was surprised that the party’s pioneer national chairman, Pa Bisi Akande, its national leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the immediate past chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole were opposed to the noble exercise. “ Let Comrade Oshiomhole tell you that APC revalidation and registration exercise is unconstitutional or Pa Akande that it is waste of resources, tell them it is fake news, for the registration exercise is to make the people the genuine owners of our great party and not godfathers. APC constitution mandates us under section 9(4) to update our membership every six months.”
In his remark, Chairman of the Enugu state APC registration/ revalidation Committee, Senator Zwingina, expressed satisfaction with the high level
of enthusiasm being shown by members and Stakeholders of the party in the state.
He said the Dr. Nwoye led APC has succeeded in planting the party in the hearts of the people of the state, calling on the South Easterners to take advantage of the ongoing registration to join the ruling party, as they stand to benefit slot.
Zwingina, added that the exercise is opened to all and sundry that is up to 18 years and above, stressing that it is not meant for a particular region or race. https://leadership.ng/apc-offers-night-registration-for-ashamed-pdp-members-in-enugu/?amp=1

Career › Duran Hotels, Uyo Forcing Employees To Surrender Federal Survival Grant by deji17(op): 5:04am On Feb 08, 2021 |
EXCLUSIVE: Nigerian company forces employees to surrender federal grantThe Survival Fund Scheme is meant to support small businesses and to protect jobs during COVID-19 pandemic. Beneficiaries of a federal government monthly “survival” grant, who work in a hotel in Akwa Ibom State, have been forced to surrender the money for three months to the hotel management.
Ten employees of the hotel, Duran Hotels, Uyo, including the hotel CEO, in October, enrolled in the Survival Fund scheme, an initiative of the Nigerian government to support small businesses and help protect jobs during the outbreak of COVID-19.
The hotel employees received N30,000 each as a monthly grant from the programme.
But as soon as the money hit their bank account, they were instructed by the CEO of the hotel, Anthony Achanya, to withdraw and hand it over to a senior official of the hotel, PREMIUM TIMES learnt.
The hotel would then give them a lesser amount of the money as salary.
Mr Achanya, who did not deny the story, told PREMIUM TIMES that Duran Hotels acted in accordance with an agreement it had with the employees before their enrolment in the scheme.
Mr Achanya, himself a registered beneficiary of the grant, said he introduced the scheme to the hotel workers.
He said he had informed them that the grant money would be shared to cover other hotel workers who were not able to enroll.
“We have about 40 workers,” said Mr Achanga who said he was only able to secure 10 slots for his hotel.
The hotel, prior to the survival programme, was paying each of the employees N15,000 as monthly salary.
The salary was increased to N17,000 after the hotel started benefitting from the federal grant.
One of the employees, who identified herself simply as Ekanem, remitted only N29,000 to Duran Hotel in the first month. She claimed bank charges chopped off about a thousand naira from the grant.
The hotel eventually stopped her December salary and fired her after she refused to remit the grant money for the other two months.
Ms Ekanem denied Mr Achanga’s claim about the existence of an understanding that the grant money was meant to be shared to other employees. Two other employees, however, told PREMIUM TIMES there was such understanding.
Mr Achanga said Ms Ekanem’s salary was stopped because she was unable to recover N26,000 from a customer whom she sold an item to on credit.
Six of the employees were consistent in remitting the N30,000 every month, for three months, to the hotel, PREMIUM TIMES learnt, while two of the hotel workers who enrolled for the grant, left the hotel’s employ before the commencement of the programme.
Mr Achanga said a former manager with the hotel, Lizzy John, went away with the grant money and other monies belonging to the hotel.
Ms John denied the allegation.
She said she only collated the workers’ name, their Bank Verification Number (BVN) and other information for enrollment for the grant, and that she resigned from the hotel in October before the first grant money was paid in November.
“It’s a cheap blackmail,” she said of the accusation from her former boss whom she said was still owing her N455,000 as unpaid salaries.
Duran Hotels is a small hotel located in the heart of Uyo, the Akwa Ibom capital.
Similar extortion is said to have been perpetrated by proprietors of private schools in Akwa Ibom State.
“A Nursery school teacher also narrated how his employer demanded 20k out of the 30k that was paid by FG and he refused to give it to the proprietress which led to his resignation from the school,” a Facebook user, Eyakndu Ubong, said on the social media site.
“I don’t know why some employers are this selfish,” he added.
The Survival Fund scheme is a component of the Nigerian Economic Sustainability Plan.
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo heads a committee which produced the plan and is also overseeing its implementation.
N27 billion was released for the implementation of the Survival Fund scheme nationwide, according to a report by ThisDay newspaper. https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/441196-exclusive-nigerian-company-forces-employees-to-surrender-federal-grant.html

I’ll never malign Tinubu — Wike ON FEBRUARY 5, 2021 POLITICS By Davies Iheamnachor Governor of Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike, has stated that despite his political affiliation, he would not disrespect or malign the leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The governor, who was reacting to a media report that he (Wike) while on an Governor inspection visit on projects executed by the governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, in Yola, had said Tinubu cannot see presidency gate in 2023, described the report as false. A media statement in Port Harcourt on Friday by the Special Assistant to the governor on Media, Kelvin Ebiri, noted that he (Wike) could not have delved too low to disrespect Tinubu or the former National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole. The statement noted that journalist had engaged the governor in a chat, adding that questions asked ranged from the purpose of his visit; the prospects of the Peoples Democratic Party winning the 2023 general election and Nigeria’s rating in the global corruption index recently published by Transparency International. The statement read: “At no time during the interview session that lasted about five minutes did Governor Wike mention the names of Chief Tinubu and the APC’s former national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, or even alluded to them. “We, therefore consider the report as preposterous, fabricated, malicious and intended to inflame relationship between Governor Wike and Chief Tinubu, whom the Rivers Chief Executive holds in high esteem. “We wish to state without equivocation, that irrespective of political affiliation, Governor Wike has enormous respect for Chief Tinubu and will never say or do anything to malign the hard-earned reputation of the elder statesman.” https://www.vanguardngr.com/2021/02/ill-never-malign-tinubu-wike/

jumper524: So earlier last year, my dad decided to go into yam business. The most common in my area kuje Abuja to be precise.
Since we're just starting, we bought seedlings worth of 40k. We later found out that seedlings are more expensive and scarce during farming/planting period. We got the land for free We paid farmers #20 per ridges and we dug about 500ridges. Meaning. #20*500= 10,000
Total money spent on investment was approximately#60,000 plus running cost.
The farmers were paid 6k to harvest the whole yam. Those guys started as early as 6am and we're done by 2pm just 3 of them.
Truck that packed it was paid 1k.
Pic 1 and 2, the big size yams we want to sell. Those buyers are pricing 45k
Pic 3 are the ones for home and family consumption. Any remainder would be added to seedlings.
Pics 4, the small yams we want to preserve as seedlings.
Think we got a lot from our investment in the end. Subsistence farming. But the pride and joy that goes with producing what you eat and help in feeding others cannot be explained. You and your family are out of the group that will be complaining about the price of yam in the market. In fact, you have helped in your own little way of bringing down the price of Yam. Kudos to you and your Dad. |
