It depends on what stage of the robbery the family woke up. The burglary proof may not even be that strong. For all we know, the woman could have been raped after her death. If the family woke up after one or more of the burglars have gained entry into their home, then keeping them silent with the threat of death would explain why no one heard them scream. It takes constant noise to wake neighbours who are fast asleep. Only people who are half asleep or who woke up during the crime may hear the noise or suspicious sounds coming from their house.. Many people do not scream when they are being robbed at gunpoint
