MaxInDHouse: The more i read your comments the more your folly is exposed. So if he didn't repent then on what ground was he given the gift God promised only those that repents?
Ọmọ you don't know anything yet you want to argue.
That guy was a criminal who doesn't feel the Christ is coming to save Israel again after so much waiting but at the point of death the words of his partner in crime revived him:
“You are the Christ, are you not? Save yourself and us too!” Luke 23:39
That quickly ran through the mind of the other guy. If Jesus is called the Christ by most people but he's now dying beside them who are criminals surely Jesus is truly the Christ:
Because he poured out his life even to death And was counted among the transgressors; He carried the sin of many people, And he interceded for the transgressors. Isaiah 53:12
So Jesus has the power to break free but he didn't, surely he is ready to sacrifice his life for many people according to the scriptures!
That's why he said to his cohort in crime:
“Do you not fear God at all, now that you have received the same judgment? And we rightly so, for we are getting back what we deserve for the things we did; but this man did nothing wrong.” Luke 23:40-41
Turning to Jesus:
Then he said: “Jesus, remember me when you get into your Kingdom.” Luke 23:42
This statement means he as accepted Jesus as the Messiah and king of God's promised Kingdom. That's what all sinners need to do!
So Jesus can't deny this guy what all repentant sinners deserve!
“Truly I tell you today, you will be with me in Paradise" Luke 23:43
Now answer the question:
Has this thief REPENTED of his sins or not? that quickly ran through his mind. See as you talking as if you were in his mind. Because he said remember me when you get to your kingdom means he has accepted Christ. Well I don't want to argue with you. Ok ooooooo |

So to you if the Lord Jesus said he is the son of man it doesn't mean anything. My brother there is no mistake in the Bible. Everything the was said is what it is. Don't worry you don't even need to be fruitful ba... continue. the man that was crucified with Jesus did he obeyed God in any way. Did he lived a righteous life but Jesus said today you will be with me in paradise. So my brother Salvation is a gift. If you are talking of faith. Faith need to be worked out. But not salvation |

StillDtruth: Delku, all these was Off Point not to talk of them being kind of twisted eg The Lord simply used the event of Moses lifting up to signify His Lift up, and every one understood it only for you to now bend it to the "son of man" (another topic) to give your own understanding of it, which of course you know people will contest.
But all these are not the issue.
We are interested in seeing how you came about drawing a distinction between everlasting life and eternal life. So do tell us directly why you think they are different. No long long story bring out your point constructively so that we know what you are saying |
Christianity Etc › Re: Difference Between Eternal Life And Everlasting Life by delkuf(op): 7:28pm On Mar 20, 2025*. Modified: 5:01am On Mar 21, 2025 |
Because of time, I will go straight to the point. When you give you life to Christ, you are given a everlasting life. A life that translates us to heaven. John 3:16 "for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth In him should not perish but have everlasting life". When you believe in Lord Jesus as the son of God who came to earth to die for the sins of mankind, you are saved. You are given everlasting life. The life that make us citizens of heaven. But the problem is that we are still here on earth. We didn't leave the earth and go to heaven immediately. We still leave in this world of the devil and evil. How do we live through this world as a child of God that has been given everlasting life. A record was made in heaven by the Father, the son and the Holy Ghost(1 John 5:7) that anyone that believe on the Lord Jesus, will eternal life. So eternal life is the life of the Holy Spirit. A life that enable us to live here on earth with power over the devil and this world. A life that give us dominion. You will live a ordinary life even though you are saved until you have eternal life. You may have your life to Christ. You may believe in the Lord Jesus and have everlasting life and still be powerless. It is when you have the Holy Spirit become your life that you will have dominion over the devil and this world. Romans 8:10 says, And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the spirit is life because of righteousness. It is only when the spirit becomes your life that he quicken your mortal bodies(Verse 11). It is then that the Holy Spirit will give life to your body. He will give you the abundant life the Lord Jesus talks about in John 10:10. Then you live free over the devil.
So everlasting life comes when we believe in the Lord Jesus and give our lives to him. We are saved with everlasting life. We are guarantee of heaven. But we still here on earth. So the the power and life we need to live through this life so that we don't lose the everlasting life given to us, is eternal life. EVERLASTING LIFE THE LIFE OF HEAVEN WHILE ETERNAL LIFE THE LIFE OF EARTH. Thanks I will stop here for now |

Thankgod89: Based on what you wrote, you have not clearly distinguished between everlasting life and eternal life.
You quoted John 3:14, where Jesus compares this Old Testament event to His own crucifixion. For what?
Do you even understand why Jesus called himself the Son of Man? Are you aware that the title "Son of God" was a message from Angel Gabriel?
We who call ourselves sons of God—are we spirits? Do you truly understand what it means to be a son of God?
You also mentioned that some people might argue that Mary, the mother of Jesus, conceived through the Holy Spirit—is that not correct?
Lastly, you stated, "And it is our faith in the Lord Jesus as the Son of Man that gives us eternal life."
But what exactly is eternal life? I told you to ponder on this. That I will continue. I had stop and see if you have any questions to ask. Ask yourself, who is God? Is God a human being or a spirit. Am not saying it is not correct that Mary got pregnant through the Holy Ghost. I was trying to show that even though Mary got pregnant through the Holy Ghost, Joseph was still the earthly Father of the Lord Jesus. It was through the lineage of Joseph that the Lord Jesus became a human being. That was what I was emphasis on. Are we going to say that the Holy Ghost is the earthly Father of Jesus because Mary got pregnant through the Holy Ghost. |

@Thankgod this is thread With the help of the Holy Ghost I will be showing you the difference between everlasting life and eternal life. Though this words may have the same meaning but biblical they are different. And I will be using John 3:14-16 as the main verse. "And as Moses lifted the serpent in the wilderness, so must the son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth In him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth In him should not perish but have everlasting life. In verse 14, the Bible talks about an event that happened to the children of Israel after they left Egypt. They disobeyed God and God made serpent to come out from the ground to bit the children of Israel. They were dying from the vernom of the serpent until Moses cried to God and ask for forgiveness. God now told Moses to make a golden statue of a serpent that anyone that look at that serpent will not die. And the Lord Jesus Christ said as that serpent was lifted up so he the son of man will be lifted up. And as the children of Israel were save from vernom of the serpent, when he is lifted up we would be saved. From verse 14 I want you to note the word son of man. The Lord Jesus said so he as the son of man must be lifted up. He wasn't talking of the the son of God here he was talking of the son of man. For us to really know what eternal life is, we must know the Lord Jesus as the son of man. Who Jesus is as the son of man and what he did as a son of man. Our understanding of this is what give us eternal life. The Lord Jesus is the son of God in heaven. But he came to the world and become the son of a man called Joseph and Mary. I know some will argue that Mary the mother of Jesus was pregnant through the Holy Ghost but Joseph was still the earthly Father of Jesus. It was through the lineage of Joseph the Lord Jesus came to earth. So he came to this world and became the son of Joseph and Mary. Why this is important, is because if you don't know the Lord Jesus as the son of man, it will be difficult for you to know and believe in the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus. BECAUSE JESUS CAN ONLY DIE AS THE SON OF MAN AND NOT AS THE SON OF GOD. Jesus as the son of man is a human being but Jesus as the son of God is a spirit. Spirit cannot die. Spirit cannot be seen or touch. So fo the Lord Jesus to die for our sins and resurrect, he must come to this world and become the son of a man. And it our faith in the Lord Jesus as a son of man that gives us eternal life. And as the serpent was lifted up so must the son of man be lifted up that whosoever that believe in him should not perish but have eternal life. Ponder on this. If you have any questions you can ask. I will continue later |

Thankgod89: It seems like you want to emphasize your point even when the Bible itself is silent on the matter. You can’t expect me to ignore the original language of the Bible and still accept your interpretation.
I have six different Bible translations, and only the KJV uses "everlasting life" in John 3:16, while the others say "eternal life." Are you suggesting that the translators who used "eternal life" got it wrong or weren’t good students of the Bible?
My brother, there is no hidden meaning in Scripture—"eternal life" and "everlasting life" mean the same thing. well like I said I don't want to go deep into it. Thanks |

Thankgod89: The terms eternal life and everlasting life mean the same thing in biblical context. However, some distinctions can be noted:
[ Eternal life Focuses more on the quality of life—a life that comes from God, beginning at salvation and continuing forever (John 17:3: "Now this is eternal life: that they know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent." . While Everlasting life – emphasize the duration—life that never ends.
But since the original Greek uses the same phrase for both, the meaning remains the same. you are wrong sir. Everlasting life and eternal life are not the same biblical. The English dictionary can define them to have the same meaning but in the Bible they are two very different thing. Am not talking about Greek here. Is like saying because In English it is define the same so they are the same. I will just give you two clue. I don't want to go too deep in this. No 1 clue is that dont you think that the Bible will not intentionally use the same words one verses apart. Why will the Bible say eternal life in verse 15 and say everlasting life in verse 16. If you are a good student of the Bible, you will know that it is strange for it to be written like that. There is something God want us to know and is our duty to find out. 2 clue is in verse 14. If you want to know the difference between everlasting life and eternal life, understand what the Bible is saying in verse 14. The beauty of us as a Christian is what is understanding what verse 14 says and the difference between everlasting life and eternal life. Like I said I don't want to go too deep into this. It is a journey of our Christian life. Not some things I can just be explaining to in few line here. |

malvisguy212: very good. Bless you. James complement Paul work. Paul teaches that Abraham believe and James complement the teaching by saying Abraham don't just seat down and claim he believed, he show the evidence of his faith by taken a bold step to sacrifice his son Isaac. And is that salvation. We talking about salvation and talking about Abraham's faith in not sacrificing his son. |

Thankgod89: I'm not mixing faith and salvation but emphasizing that faith leads to salvation.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)
Faith is God-given, not something we generate on our own. We believe in what God has done through Christ, and that faith leads to salvation.
Meanwhile James does not contradict Paul but highlights that true faith produces works as evidence of salvation: how do you mean that faith is God given |
Christianity Etc › Re: If Salvation Is A Free Gift Why Do I Have To Work It Out? by delkuf(m): 9:29pm On Mar 19, 2025 |
Thankgod89: Salvation and eternal life are not separate; rather, eternal life is an essential part of salvation, not just its ultimate goal and I don’t believe I ever implied otherwise, Mind you the ultimate goal of salvation is not just receiving eternal life but being fully united with God, transformed into the image of Christ, and dwelling with Him forever.
When a person is saved, they immediately receive eternal life (John 3:16, John 5:24). However, the full experience of eternal life will be realized in the future when we are glorified with Christ (Romans 8:30, Philippians 3:20-21).
Also, I’d like to emphasize this: "Someone who merely claims to be saved but does not bear fruit may not truly be saved."
sir is John 3:15 not John 3:16. John 3:16 says everlasting life. And biblical, everlasting life is different from eternal life |
