Greetings house, I just picked up my passport and visa this morning 10:45am!!! It has been a real journey for me and I give thanks to God that it has ended well. I sincerely wish I had found out about this thread before embarking on this spouse visa application project. Initially, I had mistakenly submitted 'settlement-marriage' instead of 'settlement-husband' application in my first attempt. On realizing I submitted the wrong application, I quickly cancelled and recalled the application on same day. But the visa fee of over £1,200 which I paid went with the wind since I had already submitted my biometrics. There was no refund for me I picked myself up and started again. This time I applied with the right application: settlement-husband, and I also paid for priority. Unfortunately, it was only after submitting my 2nd application that I found out about this thread and realized that my 2nd application was not as strong as I could have made it. But the Lord did it for me all the same. Visa granted since 8th Jan 2017 (I didn't know they stamp visas on Sundays) I will post my visa timeline shortly. You guys should keep up the good work of providing UK visa information on this thread. God bless you all abundantly! |

Was the 2nd Niger bridge contract awarded under the GEJ admin to Julius Berger/NSIA Consortium revoked? How can the Fed Govt award a new contract to an ongoing project? Why wasn't Lagos - Ibadan expressway project re-warded? The Govt should simply provide funds to continue the ongoing 2nd Niger Bridge Project. They should desist from this silly childish propaganda. We don tire for propaganda abeg.....just do you work. |

Tadelov:Amen. I tracked my application today and they replied via email saying a decision has been made. Abeg make una put me for prayers. |
Tadelov:When did you receive decision made & ready for collection email? |
Tadelov:Congratulations @Tadelov!!! That's 3 out of 3 for 2017 thus far. I've been waiting to read that you've picked up your visa. I'm so happy for you, the long wait is finally over. Please don't forget to post your visa timeline. Na me remain.... |
Happy Sunday everybody! @Tadelov I'm waiting for you oh. I know mine will receive attention after yours. Everyday I pop in here to see if you've dropped the good news that you've picked up your visa. Lol @ "God forbid oo!". Abeg ihs refund is not our portion IJN. I tracked my application last week Wednesday. UKVI replied via email saying my application is yet to be assessed by an ECO. I'll track again in a weeks time, that should be this coming Wednesday. I also occasionally check my bank account to see if there's been an ihs refund. Agonizing wait. Goodluck to us all! |
Tadelov:Was it biometrics you submitted on the 2nd Dec? When did Sheffield receive your sponsors documents? |
abubarakat:Big Congrats Abubarakat! Decision made email, ready for collection email and actual document pick up all happened on the same day. That was quick. Next in line is Tadelov.....I wish everybody success in their visa applications. |
Darcy16:Secret Santa...Lol. Well it seems they are getting back to work, thankfully. |
Jennyze:Big Congrats Jennyze! The long wait is finally over. I'm so happy for you. I don't understand why they delay so much in returning documents after approving the visa. Visa granted since 15th Dec abut you're just receiving your documents 3rd Jan. You now have to scramble to sort yourself and travel |
Jennyze:Congrats in advance! You will definitely pick up your visa sometime next week. When did Sheffield acknowledge receipt of your supporting documents? Priority, right? |
Bardiva:From my understanding, possession of a Nigerian passport confirms citizenship of the country. If by circumstance you have never used the Nigerian passport for travel, then it maybe easier to get away with not providing the Nigerian passport details in your uk visa application. However, if you have used it to travel, then it's information most likely have been captured by airport systems/consulars etc. which could be made available to Home Office. Should Home Office discover that you deliberately withheld information or lied in your application, like in this case, they will not bat an eyelid to refuse your application. I hope this helps. Goodluck! ![]() |
Mrsbebe:Congrats! Please keep us posted with the flight ticket costs. |
Jennyze:Was your passport amongst your documents sent to him? Did they call/invite either you or your husband for an interview? If it's not too much stress for you, I think you should visit tls and tell them you're there pick up your documents. There have been cases of documents received without notification sent out. On another hand, I think the December rush coupled with many home office staff going on Christmas holidays, may have affected the normal processing times of visas. |
stillwaiting:From my understanding, Applicants original documents will no longer be required to be sent to Sheffield. I don't think this new policy has much bearing on the sponsors documents, except if by some chance the sponsor is in Nigeria at the time of application. It's a bit confusing to be honest. Better to send sponsors originals, better safe and sorry. |
Abbylove:Congratulations!!! Just in time for Christmas and New Year. |
Foreveryours201:Many thanks for the advise. |
Hello @Justwise & other visa gurus I sent off scanned and printed-out copies of my sponsors documents from Nigeria via DHL on Wednesday last week (priority), as she was out of the country and needed her passport. She returns to UK on Monday upon which we intend to courier her original documents to Sheffield. I received the "Your application has been received in Sheffield, UK...... is currently being prepared for consideration by an ECO" on Friday. Do you advise I email Sheffield on Monday to inform them to expect the original sponsor documents on Tuesday? Could the scanned and printed-out copies of sponsors documents negatively affect my application? I've read on this thread where applications are refused for flimsy reasons or ECO's oversight. |
anyichi16:Let me rephrase. Did you send originals or copies of your sponsors documents from Nigeria? |
anyichi16:Hello @anyichi16, Congrats on obtaining your visa! Please did you submit copies of sponsors documents from Nigeria? I noticed you couriered via DHL. |

NYSC should be scrapped. We have lost too many lives under the hands of FG. It should be scrapped. They don't do NYSC in developed and many developing countries. |

Ayatullah:Please think before your post. 1. The Ogun State Police Commissioner ran to press before carrying out an investigation thereby pronouncing one guilty before fair hearing in a court of law. He lacks the power to act as prosecutor and Judge concurrently. We have Courts to adjudicate and confirm one guilty or innocent. The CP erred, and by so doing damaged the reputation of Oluchi. Arrest somebody today, tomorrow parade the person as a criminal, no investigation, no proof. Are we in a banana republic? 2. The law stipulates that Security Agencies shall not detain suspects beyond 48 hours. However, Oluchi has been detained for 6 days without being charged to court. Is this right? She is being detained in a dirty smelling smelling Police cell in Abeokuta. For a crime committed in Lagos, she was dragged from Lagos to Ogun state. Why? 3. Let the Police charge the Oluchi to Court. She is happy to defend herself and prove her innocence in a Court of law. She has documents and piles of evidence to prove her innocence. The husband, however, has a history of documented violence. #IStandWithOluchi #JusticeForOluchi |
