Greetings house,
I just picked up my passport and visa this morning 10:45am!!! It has been a real journey for me and I give thanks to God that it has ended well.

I sincerely wish I had found out about this thread before embarking on this spouse visa application project. Initially, I had mistakenly submitted 'settlement-marriage' instead of 'settlement-husband' application in my first attempt. On realizing I submitted the wrong application, I quickly cancelled and recalled the application on same day. But the visa fee of over £1,200 which I paid went with the wind since I had already submitted my biometrics. There was no refund for me cry It felt like the ground should open up and swallow me...over N650k (£1,200) lost in this our recession! I have not fully recovered from that loss to be honest.

I picked myself up and started again. This time I applied with the right application: settlement-husband, and I also paid for priority. Unfortunately, it was only after submitting my 2nd application that I found out about this thread and realized that my 2nd application was not as strong as I could have made it. But the Lord did it for me all the same.

Visa granted since 8th Jan 2017 (I didn't know they stamp visas on Sundays)

I will post my visa timeline shortly.

You guys should keep up the good work of providing UK visa information on this thread. God bless you all abundantly!

Was the 2nd Niger bridge contract awarded under the GEJ admin to Julius Berger/NSIA Consortium revoked?

How can the Fed Govt award a new contract to an ongoing project? Why wasn't Lagos - Ibadan expressway project re-warded?

The Govt should simply provide funds to continue the ongoing 2nd Niger Bridge Project. They should desist from this silly childish propaganda.

We don tire for propaganda abeg.....just do you work.

Happy Sunday everybody!

@Tadelov I'm waiting for you oh. I know mine will receive attention after yours. Everyday I pop in here to see if you've dropped the good news that you've picked up your visa.

Lol @ "God forbid oo!". Abeg ihs refund is not our portion IJN.

I tracked my application last week Wednesday. UKVI replied via email saying my application is yet to be assessed by an ECO. I'll track again in a weeks time, that should be this coming Wednesday.

I also occasionally check my bank account to see if there's been an ihs refund. Agonizing wait.

Goodluck to us all!

I never knew i could attach so much importance to a visa as much as i did with this spouse visa. It would be 2 years in 2weeks time since i last saw my darling wife. Our daughter is now 1 year and 6 months and i still haven’t touched her. So you can imagine how important it was for me to get the visa and i give glory to God for making it possible.

I was so scared when i got decision made email from TLS this morning and Ready for Collection in the afternoon. I informed my wife and she literally pushed me out of the office to go and collect it immediately. To make matters worse, when my package was handed to me it was kind of heavy. I was expecting it to contain only my passport given that i didn’t submit any supporting documents except for VAF Appendix 2 and Application form. It was at this point that i concluded that it had been refused. I left the venue in disappointment. To my utmost surprise, i opened my package when i got to the parking lot and i saw the decision made letter showing successful. I couldn’t believe it. I reached for my passport and saw my sweet spouse visa.

There is so much i would like to say but i will leave it at thanking everyone who has contributed in one way or the other to this thread. May God bless you all for sharing your experience with others. I have been following it silently for up to 2 years now. I spent countless hours on this forum and many others for months after work. I got refused a visit visa in May 2016 but God did his wonders this time around. I did priority and the turnaround time was like 5weeks but believe me it was a very difficult period. I’m using this medium to thank the Almighty God for granting our wish. I now need to tidy up all loose ends before i carry my waka go meet my madam.

Meanwhile my application form and Appendix 2 Form were returned along with my passport. undecided undecided

For the sake of posterity, i will like to outline my timeline below:

Application submitted online (Priority) - 24-11-2016

Biometrics taken - 30-11-2016

Inquiry response decision made - 30-12-2016

Hi everyone, i'm a US citizen applying this week for the spousal visa from the States.

Where it asks if i have any other nationality i clicked "yes", Nigeria. Meanwhile hubby raised a fit and says not to select yes, because i wasn't born there and have no strong ties to Nigeria, however i do have a valid Nigerian passport which i got 3 years ago in Atlanta.

But shouldn't i just say yes? They don't ask for the naija passport number.

If i say NO, then i'm basically lying and i don't want to be refused because of that.

If i say yes, then i have to deal with the wrath (lol) from him.

Please help.

Thanks.
From my understanding, possession of a Nigerian passport confirms citizenship of the country.

If by circumstance you have never used the Nigerian passport for travel, then it maybe easier to get away with not providing the Nigerian passport details in your uk visa application.

However, if you have used it to travel, then it's information most likely have been captured by airport systems/consulars etc. which could be made available to Home Office.

Should Home Office discover that you deliberately withheld information or lied in your application, like in this case, they will not bat an eyelid to refuse your application.

I hope this helps.

Goodluck! smiley

My documents were sent to him too.

What does it mean?
Was your passport amongst your documents sent to him? Did they call/invite either you or your husband for an interview?

If it's not too much stress for you, I think you should visit tls and tell them you're there pick up your documents. There have been cases of documents received without notification sent out.

On another hand, I think the December rush coupled with many home office staff going on Christmas holidays, may have affected the normal processing times of visas.

After the Dec 5th announcement that all documents will be scanned to UKVI at Teleperformance. Does applicant still require to send original copies of documents to Sheffield by courier servicehuh
From my understanding, Applicants original documents will no longer be required to be sent to Sheffield. I don't think this new policy has much bearing on the sponsors documents, except if by some chance the sponsor is in Nigeria at the time of application. It's a bit confusing to be honest. Better to send sponsors originals, better safe and sorry.

This would not be an oversight. You are expected to send originals and photocopies of those supporting documents that you wish to be returned.

From what I remember, the sponsor has 15 days within the biometrics being submitted to send their supporting documents to Sheffield. I suppose an email would not hurt.

If you have difficulty in submitting any original documents, you need a good reason as to why they are not available (explained in the application or cover letter) and photocopies/copies of documents ideally should be stamped and signed i.e Bank statements, payslips etc confirming the information is correct and/is authentic.
Many thanks for the advise.

Hello @Justwise & other visa gurus

I sent off scanned and printed-out copies of my sponsors documents from Nigeria via DHL on Wednesday last week (priority), as she was out of the country and needed her passport. She returns to UK on Monday upon which we intend to courier her original documents to Sheffield.

I received the "Your application has been received in Sheffield, UK...... is currently being prepared for consideration by an ECO" on Friday.

Do you advise I email Sheffield on Monday to inform them to expect the original sponsor documents on Tuesday? Could the scanned and printed-out copies of sponsors documents negatively affect my application?

I've read on this thread where applications are refused for flimsy reasons or ECO's oversight.

CrimeRe: Mbonu Oluchi Accused Of Trying To Kill Estranged Husband Setup - Facebook User by Demoore(op): 5:03pm On Oct 31, 2016
Ayatullah:
Oluchi's defence will not be made on Nairaland, Oluchi will have her day in court. Calling Ogun state Police Commissioner bad names is uncalled for.

Let the Police do their work. A crime has been committed and some people arrested. Let them all have their day in court.

Even though William Shakespeare says "There is no art to find the mind construction on the face", this Oluchi face below shows something is just not right!

Let us support our Police Force even when a woman, ex-banker is involved.
Please think before your post.

1. The Ogun State Police Commissioner ran to press before carrying out an investigation thereby pronouncing one guilty before fair hearing in a court of law. He lacks the power to act as prosecutor and Judge concurrently. We have Courts to adjudicate and confirm one guilty or innocent. The CP erred, and by so doing damaged the reputation of Oluchi.
Arrest somebody today, tomorrow parade the person as a criminal, no investigation, no proof. Are we in a banana republic?

2. The law stipulates that Security Agencies shall not detain suspects beyond 48 hours. However, Oluchi has been detained for 6 days without being charged to court. Is this right? She is being detained in a dirty smelling smelling Police cell in Abeokuta. For a crime committed in Lagos, she was dragged from Lagos to Ogun state. Why?

3. Let the Police charge the Oluchi to Court. She is happy to defend herself and prove her innocence in a Court of law. She has documents and piles of evidence to prove her innocence. The husband, however, has a history of documented violence.
