LiteratureRe: Which Books/Novels Are You Currently Reading? by denex: 10:35am On Oct 15, 2007
Sometimes, when I'm reading a book, and I come across sometime I have to practice, I pause. Then in the middle of it, I may get another book in order to understand the first better, then I'll finish the Second one while I'm still halfway with the first.

It's a little complicated. And some of the books, i have to re-read them several times over. That's why I can say I'm currently reading them.
PoliticsRe: Let Us Have Fresh Elections In 2009 by denex: 10:07am On Oct 15, 2007
If it is going to be a free and fair election, then you cannot systematically exclude anyone who qualifies to run for elections. The process will become flawed.

So saying that we should have proper elections without allowing Yar'Adua contest is just repeating the 2007 with regards to what they succeeded in doing to Atiku. Even though he finally contested, they had systematically excluded him.

@I-man

I couldn't help noticing how ridiculous you felt the whole 12th Imam belief system was.

In fact it was this year that I first heard about this 12th Imam guy and somebody is trying to use this thing to cause embarrassment to the Iranian Government.

But the thing is that, if you think somebody that believes in the 12th Imam is silly, then think of the President that believes in the Messiah.

Is there much difference between the 12th Imam theory and Jesus stories? Or even worse, the Jewish belief that the Messiah has not yet come and that he will soon come.

Methinks the Prime Minister who is awaiting Jesus' first coming is crazier than any madman.

Thanks though everybody.

PoliticsRe: Nigeria Ranked 37th In Africa by denex: 12:49pm On Oct 14, 2007
It is these kinds of statistics and indices that can raise a dead body from the grave.

So professionals and analysts from the UK and South Africa are saying that Zimbabwe is better governed than Nigeria?

So why do they keep complaining about Mugabe and his system of government? They are mad.

@nwando

I beg to differ on your American definition of "poor". Maybe you were describing the average poor person on Beverly Hills. Because poor people in the USA can't afford even food, let alone a house.

And like I said before, I had an accident last night. My hand is really hurt, I no fit type but all the same, make una relax small. Poor people in the USA can hardly afford clothes. Abi you haven't heard of Detroit. My cousin shot a lot of footage on the lives and sufferings of people living in different parts of Detroit, and believe me, when the documentary is complete and people see it, they will cry and you will see African countries start sending aid to Detroit. What I saw was really deplorable sha.

Anyway, y'all take care. I don't have the strength or even the good health to argue.

Ladies and gentlemen, I nor fit shout. I just had a terrible accident in a Japanese made car (seriously). So please let this Nigerian car come. Maybe it'd be more adapted to Nigerian roads.

Meanwhile, I may not be on Nairaland for sometime. I'm kind of recuperating from my accident with enough beer and bazz to ease the pain, and surgical spirit all over my body.

I'll be checking in once in a while but my fingers hurt too much to type. Y'all buy Nigerian made goods (if they are any good).

Ciao!

There's a massive crackdown against immigrants about to be unleashed in the USA. People will soon begin to realise that they've been building their houses on the shore.

As for those that find made in Nigeria goods ridiculous, especially designer clothing, well, funny enough, there's a clothing company from Holland that comes to my aunt's tailoring enterprise in Ikeja.

They select all the best tailored shirts in large quantities, buy them at about $10 each, then take them down to Holland where they brand them and sell them for about $60.

Some people will see these clothes in the Netherlands today and praise their quality. But in Nigeria, they will call the same products Igbo-made (even though we're Edos), or Aba-made (even though her factory is in Lagos).

Abeg, some made in Nigeria goods are far better. Though some too, I won't advice.

When is this car coming out? Make I go check am out? December abi? I hope it's good. I'm looking to buy a truck next year. Though I fancy the new Toyota Hilux, I'm looking forward to what NTM, ANAMMCO and this new company.
PoliticsRe: Etteh Made Mistakes But: Bode George by denex: 8:29am On Oct 12, 2007
We may need to redefine that word "mistake".
A mistake is when a china-ware drops from your hand and breaks. A mistake is when you sit on the remote control and the channel switches.

Someone calculatively plotting to steal N628 million is anything but a mistake. Perhaps it's a MISS-TAKE: Taking what you're not supposed to.

I'm strongly against that impeachment move because impeachment still keeps Etteh in the National Assembly.

I wonder why her constituency in Osun state won't just re-call her from the House.

debosky, you guys from her constituency should help Nigeria and get that woman out of there or else we may have no choice but to agree that she has your maximum support.

Mistake my butt!

I like using made in Nigeria stuff when they are up to standard. For instance, I don't eat imported noodles, I don't smoke foreign cigarettes and I don't drink foreign made beer. I don't eat imported meat and that includes corned beef and minced meat. I wear mostly Nigerian made clothes except for my jeans and T-shirts.

However, where Nigerians manufacture things that are obviously substandard, I reject them and warn against them.

I'm still infuriated at the "LOL" used by the original poster. Then the way in which "Igbo-made" was used, it came with a singular aim which was derogatory.

There was a time our locally made gin was tagged as "illicit gin" just because it was reducing the market share of the imported London Dry Gin.

Abeg, if these cars start rolling off the factory, I may just buy one. That's if it's any good. People, keep me informed.

The whole story was just a bloody lie that stank to high heavens. I didn't need to write exams before I condemn such fallacy.

And it is your own state of mind that is impeding your judgement. I never blamed any westerner for anything. I accused the source of the annual $300 billion to be a reservoir of fallacy.

You think I'm attacking western people? Well, wait till somebody comes in here and says 70% of Europeans are illiterate, then you will see how much I'll attack such a person.

Bloody fallacy! All the countries engaged in wars in Africa annually do not even have Federation accounts that will total $300 billion annually.

These people just believe when they want to talk bad about Africa, they can just begin to pull statistics out of their arses. There's something wrong with someone somewhere for these kinds of fantastic figures and attribute them to Africa.

Most of the rich African countries are not engaged in wars. It is the poorest countries that are fighting wars so where are they getting the $300 billion from annually? Or is the IMF providing war aid in terms of loans and weapons deals?

I just came onto this thread to tackle this LOL issue. I really see nothing funny about making jeeps in Nigeria.

I can personally build a car if I had all the necessary equipment and all necessary associated industry that would supply accessories.

I find it very insulting that anybody would find Igbo-made jeeps as an issue to laugh out loud about or to ridicule. May it not be well with you. Bloody imp.

High school students build solar cars in other countries a one idiot it mocking an entire race of industrous people on such an account.

There's a serious problem with BLACK people and NIGGAS. These are the set of idiots that will keep dragging Africans down.

Which kain dirty talk be this? Is there any money in the banks in Iraq? Some people have no idea of the deplorable state of things in Iraq. There is no money in the banks in Iraq. If there was, the US soldiers would have robbed them. Afterall they did rob the Palaces and Museums. So what kind of talk of robbing banks is this.

Somebody that is using tissue from dead human beings to make millions of dollars will have graduated from bank robbery a long time ago.

We're talking of Apo killings till today, yet just this week, a deputy to a local sheriff shot six people dead. How does the government give a lethal weapon to a 19 year old boy and make him a security official?

Such a society is deranged. Look at the ages of the soldiers in Iraq a large percentage of them (60%) are below 22 years old. This is why incidents like Abu Ghraib must come to pass, and thousands of Iraqis will be executed by these exuberant youths.
PoliticsRe: Another Gunfire In American High School by denex: 9:00pm On Oct 11, 2007
God really blessed America with all these strange talents. Just some few days back, a sheriff's deputy shot six people dead.

This same week, they have caught an gang of "otokoto" men who specialise in selling body parts. One of them is said to be worth $4 million (N508 million).

God in fact has blessed America with all sorts.

PoliticsThe Usa Now Accuses Turkey Of Committing Genocide Against Armenia In World War 1 by denex(op): 2:02pm On Oct 11, 2007
The USA Government has embarked on a process of classifying the war between Turks and Armenians during World War 1 as GENOCIDE committed by Turkey.

This is good news. So finally a war fought about a hundred years ago now has the dignity of being classed by the USA as genocide.

The question is, why now? After all these years, decades and almost a century.

Is it because Turkey is now having a mind of its own? Is it because the Turkish Government wants to take action against Iraqis who have been provoking them?

Or does the USA believe it has a monopoly over genocide?

The absolute massacre of Native Americans that reduced them from a majority group to a single family should now be classified as what?

The daily slaughter of Afghans and Iraqis which statistics pile up in the media everyday is what?

Please let Iraq be a free-for-all. No monopoly of genocide will be tolerated. Is it wrong for the Turkish and Iranians to want to send their young deviants to Iraq to engage in the first major genocide of the new millenium?
PoliticsRe: Another Gunfire In American High School by denex: 1:50pm On Oct 11, 2007
