THats bullSH!T. I have been to Qatar. there are very few of these slave descent Arabs. Go to Oman. you will find loads of these Zanzibari Arabs. slave descendants today with Omani citizenship. mixed mostly and speak Arabic though during their Liwa Dances, etc., they sing in Swahilli.

they are not pure Arabs andare tribeless.
I just told you what I know..to believe it is up to you.

One of my teachers once mentioned an arab scholar who wrote about being black..he was said to have written a poem detailing how peole like him were pure arabs..etc

this man lived long ago..cant remember his name and I didnt mention it earlier just because I dont have the proof for it.

Didnt we also hear that one of the pharaohs was black?
I wonder how being an indeginously black arab is hard to believe

shymexx: Can you prove that the "messenger"(Muhammed SAW) was arab and not black Africanhuh

Ok, let's say Arabs existed 1,400 yrs ago - which is like about 500AD, right??

Read this:

According to text above, King Oduduwa settled in ile-ife between 2000BC to 500BC(this assertion was made by ARCHAELOGISTS) - which means he settled there more than a thousand years before the first arab was born!!!
this is like the most ignorant post on NL ever.

The prophet isnt the first arab.

and there were and are still black arabs even in the middle east of today. some are in Qatar..Only sure of those.

Sike: BUT THE PORULAR AND WIDELY USED WORD IS: WALAHI TALAHI - BE IT YORUBA, IGBO OR HAUSA.
unfortunately people use it wrongly and very unnecesaarily without even understanding its meaning

kabiyesiii: Yoruba word for “disease” is ARUN not Amodi
Yoruba word for “lamp” is ATUPA not fitila
Yoruba word for “the poor” is AKUṢẸ not talaka

Yoruba word for “sky” is OFURUFU not sanmo
Yoruba word for “pen” is GEGE not kalamu
It is either you are lying or are not Yoruba.

the very popular gospel song, olori oko has in it a part that says-

fitila yi totan...

many christians call their pastors Alufa

and prayer has no other name than adura (from du'a) in Yoruba.

ofurufu means atmosphere and not sky

ochukwuma15: Protecting your right is good but they should concern themselves more with the quality of moslem graduates coming out from the secondry and tertiary institutions.

I have some of them as friends, many graduates, especially those from northern part of Nigeria can't write any other thing except their name. Some can't speak English even at gun point. If you're not speaking Hausa, fulani or kanuri to them, then you're on your own.

It's wiser you don't cover your head (which always extends and covers their ears also) during classes so that what your teacher is saying will get to your brain.

When you get to your church or mosque as the case may be, or when you're in the comfort of your home, then you can cover your head, eye, nose, mouth, ear and brain. .......... Chuks still writes from Enugu, Nigeria.
and as educated as u are, you think a piece of clothing covers the brain..and prevents whatever anyone is saying from entering the brain.

argh, was your school in a market square?

too bad.

the other words I am familiar with are

*shariah(it means punishmentt in Yoruba). it is common to hear, e da sharia fun..which means punish him

*al asr- is d time for the asr prayer and yorubas call that alaasari.

*al khamis is thursday..Yorubas say alamisi

*yaoum l jum'ah is ojo jimo

*al arbia' is alaruba

* etc

it has to do with the sahara trade routes as well as Islam among indigenous Yorubas

Religious Diversity is a good ideal. see what good it has done to far more socially mature societies like Sweden and "Great" Britain in recent times. tongue, what about France? If you are going to be fair, then all students from different religious leanings should were what their religion prescribes to School.
what proof do you have that their religions have prescriptions?

or they want 2 start having because Muslims have it?

digospel2: When there is conplication during pregnancy that led to evacuation of the embryo, that is not abortion because it is meant to save the Mother. Abortion is a deliberate, wilful or intentional termination of pregnancy by declaring it as unwanted which without apology forbidden by the Almighty God.
It is tatamount to murder and punishable in hell. If you are practising it, please repent else you will end up in hell burning with fire and brimstone.
is that a medical or a lay man's definition of abortion? I asked because you used the word embryo.

Of course, no one should deliberately go on and abort a baby if not in danger. But can use contraception.

if contraception fails and pregnancy occurs, the baby must be kept. deliberate abortion is allowed only when the woman is in danger.

wa Allahu a'lam.

opeoluwa2: There is one thing I trust fashola on,
He knowns when to differentiate religion from politics he does not reason like his other muslim governors.
So I believe him to do justices to this issue.
The Muslim society are asking for too much and if the state government agrees to this Hijab wearing to every public school,we will be faced with bigger demands in future.
They are claiming the hijab is a right,we all know that there are many kinds of hijab.
Which particular one will they wear??
They are asking for permission to cover their hair to school, verysoon they will cover their face and finally they will decide to wear a different uniform to school. Thereby leading to more rights and more infringement.
Lagos state government should take a lasting decision on this matter, they either scrap the school Uniform for mufti or strictly adhere to it irrespective of religion.
If only you would be truthful that you mean that in hood faith and not out of religious sentiments.

smh at many of you.

the hijab has come to stay, mind you. Fashola would be right to allow people exhibit their human right.

I also find the topic 'too' alarming. Even I would have advised the MSSN to tone it down if at all they wrote it that way.

jude33084: Man you have spoken well,....I wonder what kind of hate τhis guys are building up?

I dont think τhis call will ever work because the moment you give the female muslims the right to use hijab, Aladura and shango worshipers will come up with their own religion dress code supported by the constitution in nigeria.
and what stops them. if they are comfortable doing that, why not??
Islam › Re: Hijab Dispute: COHI Warns LASG by deols(f): 4:29pm On Mar 06, 2013
lagerwhenindoubt: Unfortunately it is these associations who claim to uphold righteous (fair) judgement on religious matters in government institutions that spark intolerance and also build the foundations for hatred at a very young age. we won't be around when these youths start slaughtering each other and society in general because of their dress-sense.. it will be a religious matter then just as it is now. Uniform uniforms are there for one reason, UNIFY different groups and create a sense of oneness and social bonding and identity (especially at that age).

Youths also recognize when someone is different from the accepted norm. they are either seen as elitist or isolationist or or ethno-racists, either way it is better to have a united school of young children than one where hate breeds and flourishes. If you wish to wear a hijab as a matter of religion, go to an all Islamic School where those virtues are held in the highest regard. This will allow you the benefit of a good education in a peaceful environment with peers that accept you for who you are not how you dress.
so you mean nothing should ever change?

someone thought of the uniform and now they serve the purpose no more or say, some people are agrieved by it. should there be no change to that?

later some of you will claim exposure, will claim living in a modern world, but the very basic foundation of the modern world, freedom-you fail to understand.

Rexyl: The way I see it from Christian perspective life that would fulfil God‘s purpose of creation and procreation starts from the fertilization. There are references to support this but I stop here.

From the moral point of view, prevention of what could stand later as unfit should be better than terminating it when God has received glory on what He has allowed to be possible or about fulfilling his purpose.
at ur paragraph 2, even when it could kill the mother?

you mean abortion should not be carried out at all from your christian perspective?

Do u mean you wont pray in mosques that are not stamped salafi? I doubt that Nigerians(save a few)know/care about what salafi means. Muslims are just Muslims.

The reason I spoke against this is because I have heard of instances esp in Nigerian Universities where with a few argument, someone gets up, shouts the other down as kaafir. it was very bad as I heard it.

I just dont think it right that we all start giving the judgements.

@snubbish, thank you so much for this article. It comes to me at the perfect time. I had issues some week ago on what time abortion is permitted in Islam. with Ultrasound a fetal heart beat can be heard in d seventh week and I was wondering if that is the limit.

by the day, 120 a lot can already be said of the child. whether he is suffering from a congenital anomaly or not, etc..it is therefore very good that abortion is permitted until this period.

Now, regarding contraception. The initial report b4 your post is somehow cos it speaks of population control whereas Allah specifically warns of people who kill their children for fear of hunger. The prophet also states how much he would boast of the population of his Ummah.

I am however not against the use of contraception but would want it for other reasons like-

*the health of the mother.
*the psychosocial effects of grandmultiparity on the mother and child
*the social impact. it is well known that many Africans have children they dont give any attention.

e.t.c

without any questions to these, there is no cause for alarm. Child spacing is it as regards the mother's health. when she does space the children, and stops child delivery at say, age 35. The population density will automatucally fall in place.

So u are saying that everyone(who thinks himself a good Muslim)is empowered to call others kaafirun.

so when next people(Muslims) disobey Allah by drinking, they av become disbelievers

when they wont wear hijab(as commanded by Allah) they are kafiroon

when they dont pray solaat at the right time, they are unbelievers, etc

and then in turn, they can stamp the khawaarij(abi, 2 can play d game) and everyone who doesnt act like they do, who cant understand their own 'moderate' Islam is an extremist.

I think the best thing is to make friends (and I dont mean bossom ftiendship)while trying to present the right Islam to them. Name calling gets us nowhere. it does more harm than good.

I think sisters should get each others back and help lift each other up.

The fundamentals of Islam cannot be compromised, these peeps aint Muslims. End of story.
I have a problem with saying they are not Muslims. Is there anything to prove that?

They can be Muslims going against the principles of Islam but that they are not muslims? I think not.
