Food › Re: How Can One Know Original Honey? by deols(f): 6:49am On Jan 08, 2012
Itanola:
There are different ways to detect pure unadulterated honey which are:
1.    If you dip your finger into the honey try to drop one or two drops on the ground, if it is pure honey it will go down like a thread without breaking.

2.    Pour water into a cup then pour some quantity of honey if it is pure honey it will go down to the bottom of the cup without mixing up with the water except if you stir it.

3.    Dip a stick of matches into your honey and strike it if it is pure honey the matches will burn even the honey will act as a fuel while burning.

4.    Drop some on the sand if it is pure honey it will not sink immediately.

As a professional beekeeper with experience, I want to say categorically here that pure honey attracts ANTS, honey contains sugar and it is sweet it is an erroneous belief that ants will not come near honey, even the bee hives in the farm are threatened by ants that wants to take over because of the sweet odour they are perceiving.

I advice you to take honey because it is very good for your health and highly medicinal. There is a book Amazing Uses of Honey, there you will discover various uses of honey and how to detect pure natural honey and the comparism analysis of honey with sugar.
For more information or clarification contact: uncommonhelen@gmail.com or call: 08064460886 (State Secretary Ekiti State Beekeepers Association) .
After reading this thread, I went to buy honey. I tried two and three. while two worked, three did not. but, I have no reason to consider the honey fake. the name, price, everything suggests its pure honey except for failing test no.3 . what do u thnk of that??

For an adult, the soy one should be more preferred considering its nutritional benefit of having more fibres as opposed to the one made of cow milk.

the part that says what breaks the salat is a continuation of the command on Sutrah.

concerning the intention . this is what you have in mind and there is no need to recite out nawaitu farda. . .

takbir
when the Imam says Allahu akbar and his voice is loud enoff for the congregation, it is enough. In a case where microphones are used by the imam, the need for d muadhin's voice repeating it to the congregation is totally unnecessary.
Islam › Re: Let Us Talk Salaat by deols(op): 12:37am On Jan 08, 2012
What Breaks the Prayer
He used to say: A man's prayer is cut off when there is nothing such as the end of a saddle in front of him, by: a [menstruating]55 woman, a donkey or a black dog. Abu Dharr said, 'I said: "O Messenger of Allaah, why the black dog rather than the red one?" He said, The black dog is a shaytaan.

Prohibition of Prayer Facing the Grave

He used to forbid prayer facing the grave, saying: Do not pray towards the graves, and do not sit on them.

Intention
He (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) used to say: All actions are by intention, and every man shall have what he intended.

Takbeer
Then he (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) would commence the prayer by saying: Allaah is the Greatest. He ordered "the man who prayed badly" to do likewise as has been mentioned, and he said to him:

Verily, the prayer of a person is not complete until he has made an ablution which has included the necessary parts of the body and has then said: 'Allaahu Akbar'

He would also used to say: The key to the prayer is purification, it is entered by takbeer and exited by tasleem.

Also, "he used to raise his voice for the takbeer such that those behind him could hear." But, "when he fell ill Abu Bakr used to raise his voice to convey the takbeer of the Messenger (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) to the people."

He would also say: When the Imaam says: Allaahu Akbar, then say: Allaahu Akbar.

Raising the Hands

He would raise his hands sometimes with the takbeer, sometimes after the takbeer, and sometimes before it.

"He would raise them with fingers apart [not spaced out, nor together]", and "he would put them level with his shoulders", although occasionally, "he would raise them until they were level with [the tops of] his ears."

To Place the Right Arm on the Left Arm, and the command for it

"He (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) used to place his right arm on his left arm", and he used to say: we, the company of prophets, have been commanded to hasten the breaking of the fast, to delay the meal before the fast, and to place our right arms on our left arms during prayer.

Also "he passed by a man who was praying and had placed his left arm on his right, so he pulled them apart and placed the right on the left."

To Place the Hands on the Chest

"He used to place the right arm on the back of his left palm, wrist and forearm" "and he commanded his companions to do likewise", and (sometimes) "he would grasp his left arm with his right."

"He used to place them on his chest."

Also "he used to forbid putting one's hand on the waist during prayer [and he put his hand on his waist (to demonstrate)]". And this is the "silb" which he used to forbid.

To Look At The Place Of Prostration, And Humility

"He (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) used to incline his head during prayer and fix his sight towards the ground"- "while he was in the Ka'bah, his sight did not leave the place of his prostration until he came out from it" and he said, It is not fitting that there should be anything in the House which disturbs the person praying.

"He used to forbid looking up at the sky", and he emphasised this prohibition so much that he said: People must refrain from looking up at the sky in prayer, or their sight will not return to them (and in one narration: or their sight will be plucked away). In another hadeeth: So when you pray, do
not look here and there, for Allaah sets His Face for the face of his slave in his prayer as long as he does not look away, and he also said about looking here and there, "it is a snatching away which the devil steals from the slave during prayer."

He (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) also said: Allaah does not cease to turn to a slave in his prayer as long as he is not looking around; when he turns his face away, Allaah turns away from him;
he "forbade three things: pecking like a hen, squatting (iq'aa'), like a dog and looking around like a fox"; he also used to say, Pray a farewell prayer as if you see Him, but if you do not see Him, surely He sees you; and, Any person who, when an obligatory prayer is due, excels in its ablution, humility and bowings, will have it as a remission for his previous minor sins as long as he does not commit a major sin, and this opportunity) is for all times.

Once he (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam), prayed in a khameesah and (during the prayer) he looked at its marks. So when he finished, he said: Take this khameesah of mine to Abu Jahm and bring me his anbijaaniyyah, for it has diverted my attention from the prayer (in one narration: for I have looked at its marks during the prayer and it almost put me to trial). Also "'Aaishah had a cloth with pictures spread towards a sahwah95, towards which the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) prayed and then said: Take it away from me [for its pictures did not cease to thwart me in my
prayer].

He would also say: Prayer is not valid when the food has been served, nor when it is time to relieve oneself of the two filths.

hmm do you need an english lesson? What is the "hypocrisy" there?  grin You are right that christians argue about tithes, but you dont see them pretending about whether they like it or not. Each side is very open to the other on their positions and why. Unlike muslims we dont hide behind the words "same" like your friends here.

I was only highlighting the hate, denigration of other people's cultures and traditions, pretense and lies that are a hallmark of the average muslim. Do you need me to point to specifics from the very words of muslims on this thread?  cheesy
Because I made reference to ur lack of comprehension skills, u av to continuously talk of English lessons huh. Oh, I forgot I also told u of ur ability to write english well(not necessarily speak nor comprehend sha). u must av bn flattered even though I warned u otherwise undecided ehyaa.

quoting would sure take a while. So, i decide to state my (most likely) final statement on this.

Dr. Akintola said something. I agree to it, Tpia doesnt. I think the best thing would be for Tpia to produce her own authentic source, probably a news editor claiming the Dr wrong in the absence of which her claims cannot be termed genuine. I repeat, that I av only maintained where it concerns me , facts, wherein I mentioned the secondary school issues and I didnt even point that out until after Tpia made a reference to it. All I did before that was to charge Muslims, (in essence, to take their future in to their own hands) rather than claiming 'victims' all d time as we'v bn favored in other respects, such as the political sphere. it isnt surprising however, that some bigots wouldnt understand the simple statements(solely directed at fellow Muslims.) and I do understand the reason for that to mean, they wouldnt want that and would rather prefer the status quo. In my position, they may never have been honest enough to make such claim publicly.

The hypocrisy of davidylan knows no bounds. Is the corporate world tantamount to a government entity?? or why the sudden turn of direction to say a private company can do as they wish?? Just to score a point he claims everything said here by Muslims wrong/false, forgetting He didnt see anything wrong in a Muslim student being denied admission at convenant uni even though the boy had great scores(a typical christian way of denying Muslims) . he came up with his lies as usual on that thread with the claim that he once worked in the north where same was done to christians(playing d victim wasnt so wrong then undecided) until he was silenced with facts. If u read through the thread u'd realise his frustrations. Especially a desperate attempt at showing intelligence after I made a point of him lacking one.

eventually, d arguments might continue. i see no point in it though.

Quite odd . . . considering the al aqsa mosque is built on a destroyed church. Several churches in Turkey, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria (even Egypt) have also gone through the same mindless destruction and conversion to mosques. Either muslims have never seen this before or they are just disobedient folks or this is another false document to paper over the evil that is islam.
when u become a Muslim, am sure u wld want your church if you owned one, converted into a mosque. that happened in Nigeria and could have happened elsewhere and if anyone did destroy an occupied church so as to build a mosque, they sure av gone against the teachings of the prophet.

obviously, people like davidylan and of course, Tpia keep arguing just so they can argue. I spoke of a personal experience and u wldnt take it. mac spoke of his experience and u wldnt. again, it is ur cup of tea. It doesnt stop whatever I said from being right.

And am not surprised, the same Tpia on a thread somewhere saw pictures of a fire incident in Nigeria and claimed she would believe it happened only if a Nigerian newspaper reported it. that is the way she thinks. best left to her delusion.

davidylan:
responding to pathetic, patently dishonest threads like this is an exercise in futility. the inherent disdain that muslims have for christians is all too apparent (note the derisive "UP UP Jesus" comment from maclatunji). It is the victim mentality (the ultimate motive for islamic terrorism the world over) that is more worrisome.
oh! why did u continue nah. cant even keep to ur own word??

I think you may be having a problem with comprehending the English language. I did not in any way indicate that you "intimidate" me as much as your views are a worry and a source of caution for the gullible christians who promote the myth of the moderate muslim. No you do not in anyway intimidate me, i see you more as a dishonest and evil person hiding under the false veneer of pacifism. Please dont mistake a phrase to mean you in any way influence my thinking. You are just one in a bunch of radical islamists who will be destroyed soon.
now lets see who exactly needs an English teacher. I said I do know and not that u said so. I spoke of my observation that apart from you having those fears, I av also noticed the intimidation. Have u also seen that u cant usually hold the heathuh u quickly result into insults or bring in Boko haram and violence especially when you have no other point. U dont sound very intelligent to me. Just lucky with a good command of English(and u shld be flattered I said that)

and that destruction would come in what way?? Know you again, that a Muslim like me is never afraid of such threats as this, u can have ur heaven on earth while I look forward to a garden, under which rivers flow. . wink

and while you and lagosShia were busy sharing how annoying that is to you, did you forget that a large percentage of the "muslim north" is ALSO christian especially the middle belt and areas like Kaduna? Or is this the usual mindless muslim whining over nothing?
who stops u from getting annoyed at the word, muslim North. Hypocrite of the highest order.

Sweetnecta:
But no one in Islam can get his/her birthday date correct.

Especially those of us born to the right or left sides of the ending of the month or beginning of another, being very far from the 3 days of the full moon.

You know your day of the week, the Islamic calender year, maybe the month [if you are fortunate], thats enough.

After all the messenger's exact birthday date was not known except that we know it was Monday, part of the reasons he fasted [incidentally it was the same day of the week that he died], and we only know that it was the year of the elephant, the incident revealed to him [as] later in Surah Fil.

if celebration of birthday is important, Muhammad [as] should have celebrated him. The companions [ra] would have adopted it, continuing it and passing on the tradition to us.

Muslims are adopting many non beneficial concepts and traditions from the disbelievers, including wedding ring, "the so called id maulud", etc, etc.

Islam is perfect and should be left like that.

We can and must adopt what benefits [eg up to date and efficient and effective like car, planes, and all modern devices like computer, etc as long as it is not for evil as it will not go against the present up to date value of Islam] means of transportation in our lives, even if is a development of the worst of pagans.

if you live in cold climate, you do not put on a sandal in the dead of winter, whereas what is appropriate are well insulated winterized shoes and coat, etc to braze the elements.
After reading this, I could only conclude like I do in situations like this.

the prophet told us in a hadith to leave what we doubt and go to those we do not doubt. not celebrating birthdays does no harm. And since the most we have gotten on this day is actually the greetings(and I sure would appreciate that u dont wait for a particular day of the year to remember me), I'd rather leave it. My problem hasnt been about my own day, but not remembering others's. On this note, mi ko ni fi itiju ko arun and so, I'll stop InshaAllah.

what a sutrah is

A sutrah is an object placed in front of someone praying as a barrier between them and anyone passing by.

see d picture below

Islam › Re: Let Us Talk Salaat by deols(op): 4:56pm On Jan 05, 2012

3.The Sutrah, and the Obligation to have one

"He (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) used to stand near to the sutrah, so that there was (a distance of) three cubits between him and the wall" and "between the place of his prostration and the wall, (there was) enough space for a sheep to pass.

"He used to say: "Do not pray except towards a sutrah, and do not let anyone pass in front of you, but if someone continues (to try to pass) then fight him, for he has a companion (i.e. a shaytaan) with him."He would also say: "When one of you prays towards a sutrah, he should get close to it so that haytaan cannot break his prayer.

"Sometimes "he would seek to pray at the pillar which was in his mosque."When he prayed [in an open space where there was nothing to use as sutrah] he would plant a spear in the ground in front of him and pray towards it with the people behind him"; Sometimes "he would  set his mount sideways and pray towards it" but this is not the same as prayer in the resting-place of camels, which "he forbade", and sometimes "he would take his saddle; set it lengthways and pray towards its end.

"He would say: When one of you places in front of him something such as the stick on the end of a saddle, he should pray and not mind anyone who passes beyond it.

Once "he prayed towards a tree" and sometimes "he would pray towards the bed on which 'Aa'ishah (radi Allaahu anhaa) was lying [under her sheet]."

He (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam), would not let anything pass between him and his sutrah, hence once "he was praying, when a sheep came running in front of him, so he raced it until he pressed his belly against the wall [and it passed behind him]."

Also, once "while praying an obligatory prayer, he clenched his fist (during it), so when he had finished, the people said: 'O Messenger of Allaah, did something happen during the prayer?' He said: No, except that the devil wanted to pass in front of me, so I strangled him until I could feel the
coldness of his tongue on my hand By Allaah! Had my brother Sulaimaan not beaten me to it, I would have tied him (the devil) to one of the pillars of the mosque so that the children of Madinah could walk round him. [So whoever can prevent something intervening between him and the qiblah,
he must do so]."

He also used to say:
When one of you prays towards something which is a sutrah between him and the people and someone intends to cross in front of him, then he should push him in the throat [and repel, as much as he can], (in one narration: he should stop him, twice) but if he refuses (to not pass) then he should fight him, for verily he is a devil.

He also used to say: If the person who passed in front of someone praying knew (the sin) on him, it would be better for him to wait forty than to pass in front. (Abu an-Nadr said, "I do not remember exactly whether he said forty days, months or years."wink.

concerning standing in prayer

The ahadith above make it clear how important salaat is, that even in the worst of health situations, we are to pray. If we can not stand, then to sit. But sitting is highly discouraged, if we can stand. the reward is reduced by half when we sit.

olawalebab:
we are following. Jazakum llahu
thank u sir,

concerning praying with shoes

The first time I heard about this, I found it very weird. Many of us pray without shoes. In fact, most never prayed with their shoes on. It is however allowed in Islam. But, I wonder what would happen if any of us goes into a mosque wv their shoes(in Nigeria)_ hmmmn.

Point is, u may never need to do that, but when circumstances demand it, make sure it is free of impurities and go ahead.

I could remember Wole Soyinka making it clear during an interview with Christian Amanpour, on CNN that the situation wasnt a Muslim vs Christian one. as that was exactly what the media(CNN) wanted to sell to the world.

An opinion on birthdays

http://revertmuslimah..com/2009/07/ruling-on-celebrating-birthdays-in.html

The following is a ruling by Shaikh Bin Baaz on celebrating birthdays in Islam. Sometimes its just best left to the scholars.

Question: What is the ruling concerning celebrating birthdays?

Response: "Celebrating birthdays has no source whatsoever in the pure shariah. In fact, it is an innovation, since the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said,

"Whoever introduces anything into this matter of ours that does not belong to it shall have that action rejected."

This was recorded by both al-Bukhari and Muslim. In a version recorded by Muslim and by al-Bukhari in definitive muallaq form1,

"Whoever performs a deed which is not in accord with our affairs, that deed is rejected."

It is well-known that the Prophet (peace be upon him) did not celebrate his birthday at all during his lifetime nor did he ever order it to be celebrated. Nor did he teach such to his Companions. Therefore, the rightly-guided caliphs and all of his Companions did not celebrate it. They are the most knowledgeable of the people concerning his sunnah and they are the most beloved to the Prophet (peace be upon him). They were also the most keen upon following whatever the Prophet (peace be upon him) brought. Therefore, if one is supposed to celebrate the Prophet's birthday, this would have been made evident at their time. Similarly, not one of the scholars of the best generations2 celebrated his birthday nor did they order it to be done.

Therefore, it is known from the above that such a celebration is not from the Law that Allah sent Muhammad (peace be upon him) with. We ask Allah and all Muslims to witness that if the Prophet (peace be upon him) had done so or ordered such to be done, or even if his Companions had done so, we would rush to do it and call others to do it. This is because, and all praises are due to Allah, we are the most keen in following his sunnah and respecting his commands and prohibitions. We ask Allah, for ourselves and for all of our brethren Muslims, steadfastness upon the truth, avoiding everything that differs from Allah's pure shariah. Verily, He is Generous and Noble."

Shaikh Ibn Baz
