i agree with everything said by betathings.
If david is so concerned about having the other section for christians only, like i advised him earlier, he can make his own 'threats' too- whatever that means or he could simply beg Seun for a christians board. It is as simple as that.

Some morals David may never learn in his religion are in Islam. We Muslims shld b careful not to be provoked into accumulating sins by insulting other religions. Two wrongs dont ever make a right.

am not surprised @ all. Frosbel is well known for his LIES and even after proven wrong, he keeps defending his falsehood. Now, u wonder why he remains a christian.

And following their already lost shepherd are his herd. They were too happy for the 'good news' that they did not try verifying his claims. Now u wonder y many are doomed by their own doing??
This is a time when there's no xcuse for ignorance. But, many fail to see, hear and of course think. Bias has over ridden them.

In d end, each to his own!

And did i hear someone say frosbel is david?? Ah! he would be needing help if true!

they could have written that and Anyone else could have too.

they could have been muslims or they could not have been.

they could have been agents of the west to bring a prediction to pass or of the government of Nigeria or of a people who would benefit from a war torn Nigeria

or they could just have been Muslims, misguided, delusioned into believing in a paradise attainable  by these violent acts.

But,in the end, it sure doesnt matter who they are.But it does matter that many people are injured, lives lost and I would rather be concerned with seeking ways of ending this rather than the blame game which sure is only a waste of time and solves nothing.

Surely, these acts are unislamic and no one attains paradise by so doing.

And It sure doesnt make Islam less  perfect, these people more right nor paradise less deserving to righteous Muslims.

I, like many other Muslims condemn the attacks attributed to boko haram as having no basis in our religion, Islam. let everyone know  that the prophet would not have done or supported this.

Hey @Leomax,
let me school you a little bit son. Have you been around the many churches in Nigeria to witness the diff versions of xtianity we have? Do you notice how diabolically opposed to each other some of them are? Are you close to Islam enough to notice this same variance in dogma? Do you have Muslim friends? Have you ever seen the Quran before? Ever touched the book, never mind Reading it? Try some of these above. You may soon realize that an ignorant Christian (although might never wear a bomb) is as dangerous to society as an ignorant Muslim.
you are soo right with the bold. All u need do is read many of their comments here on nairaland to actually feel that.

deols:
Q. 39 who are those forbidden for a woman to marry
A woman can not marry her mahram. A mahram is someone she cannot marry because they are tied by blood relations. they are also the people she can stay with without wearing her hijab.

surah 24:31 menntions her mahram thus-

. . .and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands' fathers, their sons, their brothers or their brothers' sons,or their sisters' sons or their women or their slaves whom their right hands possess, or male attendants free of intimate desires or small children who have no carnal knowledge of women . . .

it should be noted that foster brothers are seen as one's brothers

from the above, u can deduce whom a man  is not permitted  to marry

I knew your posts are out of ignorance. u sure dont know what jihad means just like u dont know what many of the Islamic things u speak about mean. get some education on islam, or simply ask questions here rather than just rambling over unconfirmed(from Muslims of course) gists that you hear of Islam and Muslims. if you cant do the above, I'd advise u keep mute. That way, you would not sound dumb(am not saying u are) next time.

bntY:
since d hadith says only 3 things r recorded after death:knowledge passed on,  pious child's prayer and good deeds; does that mean prayer for d dead isn't answered except frm d child?
tough question but I thnk the prayers answered are not only from the child if not, we wont have a prayer said while entering the grave yard.

I think the emphasis is more on the children cos they are more likely to remember their parents and to encourage parents into training their children the right way.

WaAllahu a'lam.

please follow the protocol. u can check the first page of thie thread for that. i think numbering helps.

olawalebab:
No, When it is time for salat. observe it
I think it depends on whether bnty is maale or female but the name sounds female undecided. if male, waiting for the call inyour area could mean waiting to observe the salaat in jama'a which would be more preferred but otherwise, it is better you observe it when you are SURE it is time.

About the opening supplication

There are many of it. You can check your hisnu Muslim(fortress or citadel of a believer) for them. learn them, memorise them and use them in salaat. mayAllah make it easy.

Recitation of one verse at a time

that is self explanatory but I want it emphasised. there is no point rushing now embarassed Just a few minutes for your LOrd wink

reciting maliki or maalikiyaomiddeen

here the meaning changes with the pronunciation. maalik (master) is more pronounced with an extra 'a' than malik(king)

aww! dats pretty cool. u probably never knew that the day u decided to go into a tertiary institution, u were embarking on a jihad.

And sometime ago, when during an exam, u did not remember the answer to the question asked and rather than cheat or ask someone else, u fought the desire to and just wrote what you could remember.you didnt realise too that, that actually is the best of jihad. the one in which you fight your nafs(human desires).

Opening Supplications (Du'aa's)

Next, he (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) would commence his recitation with many kinds of supplications in which he would praise Allah the Exalted, and glorify and extol Him. He in fact ordered "the man who prayed badly" to do so, saying to him: No person's prayer is complete unless he says takbeer, praises Allaah the Mighty and Sublime and extols Him, recites of the Qur'aan what is easy for him. . .
Recitation
Next, he (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) would seek refuge with Allaah the Exalted, saying:

I seek refuge with Allaah from the Evil One, the Rejected, from his madness, his arrogance, and his poetry. Sometimes he would add to this, saying:
I seek refuge with Allaah, the all-Hearing, the all-Knowing, from the Evil One --> (audhu billahi minashaytanir-rajim min hamzihi wa nafkhihi wanafsihi) or (audhubillahisamiul alim mina shaytanir-rajim)

Then he would recite,

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy, but not loudly(Bismi llahir- Rahmanir-Rahim)

Recitation of one Verse at a Time

Next, he would recite Soorah al-Faatihah and divide his recitation, reciting one verse at a time. He would say:

ArRahmanir raheem
[Here he would pause, and then say:]

Maliki yaomid deen
[Then he would pause, and then say:]

Iyyakana'budu wa iyyaka nasta'een

[Then he would pause, and then say:]

Ihdina. .
,  and so on, until the end of the soorah. The rest of his recitation was also like this: stopping at the end of the verse and not joining it with the one after.

Sometimes, he would recite,
Maliki yaomiddeen(King of the Day of Judgment) instead of Maalikiyaomiddeen (Master of the Day of Judgment).

brentkruge:
The most prevalent position of Islam followers is similar to what I have seen in several websites such as this;

But in reality this is not the same. The more Muslim adherents seek to be like the Prophet, the more they seek to replicate the intolerance he had for others. People seek to demonstrate this passively or actively. A Muslim may look calm underneath, but there is a volcano simmering under the surface.

Many have claimed that Qur'anic verses in support of fighting, were for a special historical situation. its argue that since prophet Muhammad was persecuted in Mecca for the first thirteen years of his ministry, he was justified in his military actions  for the support of the budding Islamic movement. The problem with this reasoning is that nowhere in the Qur'an itself the above commands to fight are restricted to a special time period or against a special people group. Orthodox Muslims believe that the Qur'anic commands are universal and thus applicable for all times and places and that is the problem.

Until that is addressed, the violence in the name of Islam will continue. unfortunately, many in Islam completely misdiagnose the problem as discrimination, phobia, or plain hate. That stands in the way of true "Islam reform"
i quite understand the point you are making.
1. muslims have not been practicing what they preach-- but in essence, those preaching the opposite  are different from those practicing the wrongs but since they are not known to you, kinda virtual, u can not tell. so am saying, the people who carry out those acts are the ignorant Muslims of the laws guiding Islam.

2. your statement that the Qur'an doesnt restrict the fightings to a specific time is borne out of ignorance as well. you probably never knew this aspect of tafsir where it is mentioned that

the Qur'an interpretes the Qur'an
so also, the hadiths interprete it.

therefore, if u never learnt it the way you should, there is no way u'd come up wv an understanding.

and here is a verse restricting the fight-

Fight those who fight against you along God's way, yet do not initiate hostilities; God does not love aggressors (2:190)

Hello Deols, okay for the benefit of doubt, let us assume that ISLAM = PEACE , though I say this bursting with laughter  grin

Can you kindly explain why hundreds of Christians were killed in Northern Nigeria because of Cartoons that were published in Denmark thousands of miles away, and the World beauty contest that was to take place in Abuja.

Tell me what crime did these Christians commit, many of whom were totally oblivious to these events.

There is this story that sealed my understanding of ISLAM, your fellow Yoruba lady lynched by her own students in the North , read below.
i said it earlier. those acts are unIslamic. I would love a situation where the perpetrators are made to face the law. I would want them punished for such acts so that nothing like that happens again.

the problem with the north like i said is education. they listen to the radio-BBC hausa and hear of happenings aroud the world. To an average muslim, it is never a USA vs Iraq war rather a Muslim vs christian thing. In their bid to seek 'supposed' justice for their Muslim brothers and sisters, they attack innocent people, which in Islam, is wrong.

there are rules of engagement in Islam. .and that doesnt involve pple who dont mean harm to you.

All Muslims are not suicide bombers, but all suicide bombers have been Muslims.

And there community at large remain somewhat mute and no Utter outrage from them to stem religious fanaticism.

What do you expect people to think?

"religion is the opium of the people". Karl Max

In fact, we Africans need to go back to our forefather's ways. Imported Foreign organized religions have done more harm than good to us.

Shalom Cool.
u must live in mass not to av heard of their community condemning them or do u expect them to come to your room so u can be aware??

However as in all cases there is also a sizeable number of Islamic fanatics in the country. The situation is very complex,b'cos of the driving factor which is essentially some political evil geniuses in their midst using Islam as a veil to hide their real intentions which is the increment of political power.
Islamic fanaticism is also unique to Northern Nigeria, you don't see Muslims in the West and South burning, killing and pillaging with reckless abandon as has been witnessed in the North. The reason for this is, massive levels of unemployment caused by equally massive levels of illiteracy which leads to massive levels of poverty in the North.
this part of your post reminds me of the sayings of a psychologist-
Give me a dozen healthy infants, well-formed, and my own specified world to bring them up in and I'll guarantee to take any one at random and train him to become any type of specialist I might select – doctor, lawyer, artist, merchant-chief and, yes, even beggar-man and thief, regardless of his talents, penchants, tendencies, abilities, vocations, and race of his ancestors.

this explains how nurture has a role to play in what is happening. If a child lost all he ever heard for example to the war in iraq- his parents, source of living and every other thing. what do u think it costs him to carry out an attack on his enemies- whom of course to him are the christian Americans. Same thing in Northern Nigeria where the child never had a decent living, nothing to lose and is promised of a wonderful life beyond. Dont forget again that the only school he was ever privileged to attend is one by a people  who equally grew up on the streets. In this case, blame the government and nothing else.

like I said earlier, everyone believes in something. it could be faulted later but your passion for it is enough driving force. I see no difference in their belief and that of people thinking God would allow his own son dragged on the streets and then nailed for some ingrates, sinful lot.

terrotism is wrong  and UNISLAMIc and Yes, the mainstream media and the nigerian media which is majorly controlled by christians have been bias in their coverage!

skydeexie:
Who says Boko-Haramists are not muslims. If anything they are the true authentic muslims practicing what is written in the quran, the hadiths and following to the letter the practical examples the prophet(PBUH) of islam left behind. Get to listen to the video the Boko-haram leader recently posted on Youtube addressed to the muslim Umma, President Jonathan and Christians in particular. Also listen to the BBC interview with the other slain leader. They are Sunnis practicing Salafism - the pure unadulterated form of islam. Boy they are the REAL thing. And that is why they don't mind killing muslims who are considered not "authentic" enough.
i read ds only because i saw frosbel's thumbs up. Bigotry is what keeps many from thinking straight. when did Boko haram become the voice for Nigerian Muslims.

what do u know of the Qur'an or hadith before making your conclusion that boko haram pple are true muslims. You seem to me like one of the media-brainwashed folks.

An authentic salafi Muslim is aware that the life of a Muslim is sacred and will do anything to protect it. You can feed your equally ignorant folks with such lies but dont bring it here and expect everyone to accept them.
Islam › Re: Media Contributes To The Bad Image Of Islam. Why? by deols(f): 4:11pm On Jan 19, 2012
as usual, they leave the main point of discourse.

Question is, does d media contribute to it??

YES, it does.

who here never knew the power of the media. [/b]for example, the main stream media helped push the revolution in the arab world but did not give the Nigerian(almost) revolution , a tenth of such coverage. that tells you only one thing. they use it to achieve specific aims.  It is a thing of the mind and many have been gullible enough to take it all in.

how about you all being guilty too of judging the action of a few on  millions of others.

Dont ever forget, that [b]what makes you believe that God, or his son(whichever you call him) allowed himself to be nailed for your sins,
when he could have forgiven you without is exactly what makes a suicide bomber believe a paradise is waiting for him by killing others.
