When Obasanjo insulted journalists, we thought he was wrong. All goes back to d education system and eventually to the government *smh* |
AbuHanifa:u'r right actually. I saw it immediately after it was posted but ignored it. I came in only because I couldnt stand a Muslim sister kinda agreeing wv him. And I think sweetnecta joined for the same reason- to disprove d misconceptions which in d long run, makes a lot of sense. |
davidylan:dont c how boko haram is related with the post. Another of, lets call them terrorists when we got no point?? *smh* |
toba:yes. people do those things but the fact that they do them doesnt make them right. There are many fake pastors in Nigeria. That should make a good representative of christianity abi?. Now, I think the fake pastors are funky. That is how every pastor should be. Every pastor should be a cultist to increase the number of followers and make money from tithes. They should perm their hair and make their followers steal from their bosses so the house of God may be in abundance. |
toba:u are using your xtian mentality to judge Islam. xtianity doesnt give u a dress code nd doesnt tell u to dress in particular ways But Islam does. Sometimes i feel like u make deliberate attempts at pretending not to understand. Now, I know a little sociology( did dat in my 1st yr) nd I must tel u dat am aware cultures change naturally. They evolve nd dat is wat happens in Arab countries. they seem to be moving towards d ideals of the west. But the west has evolved too by getting bits from other cultures. At least, dat is obviously seen in their entertainment industry. Point is, where there is religion to guide you, every form of mislead must be avoided. Every thing good about other cultures can be imbibed but nothing that goes against Islam should be condoned!. Rather than make assumptions about Islam, always ask questions. Muslim women dont cover up 24/7. U only cover up when non mahram are around. |
asking u to bring scholarly reference is actually an honor- take it or leave it. U seem to not know dat revelations in d Qur'an must be taken into context. Why, when, how? these questions are to be answered. It is just like pple who claim they have every right to kill unbelievers just because the Qur'an says so without understanding the conditions of when such killing is allowed, for what reasons and how If we are not to tamper with nature and am allowed to translate the Qur'an as I wish. Would it be alright to say we av all tampered with it cos actually we av built on the soil, dugged into it and av changed the form of so many things. we av gone into the moon, placed satellites around the earth nd so on. Now tell me those are not human and i'll ask u if it is okay to circumcise a boy or to pierce ur ears for ear rings or to wear henna( laali) |
toba:see ds toba *smih* |
o ga o, sister Uplawal. stop d insult pls. I av avoided u over d years. U seem to av reverted into Islam without allowing Islam reform you. Even if u'r right and am wrong, dr are better ways of passing ur message across. why not face d real issue here instead of focusing on your sheikh. |
toba:so, how do things work . me using d word pathetic is just about using your own term against u. gerrit?Dyt:Islam is never about the majority carrying the vote. It is a matter of right versus wrong. Even if the king of saudi wld do somthn bad today doesnt mean every muslim must follow suit. Pple wear hijab better/ more in d Nigeria of today. At least when our own parents were in d uni dey werent wearing d kinda hijab we now wear. nd Muslims in Uk nd d USA are more ready to show off their faith by trying out the hijab. The way they do might however be different. |
toba, Pathetic! |
Weezzy:reminds me of thunderbolt. Medical doctor tried out the locals. All his doctor friends could do is give him water saline(drip) after the babalawos finished d job. There's always a spiritual realm to things. |
Cant believe anyone in their right minds think this as normal. Truly, women need to do better for women. Same Nigerian women bring their daughters up with the slave mentality. She gets to do the house chores while her brothers play around. The boys subconsciously see women as tools to better their world. |
@ toba, good points raised. ![]() we also pray before marriage. The prayer is called istikhara. In fact, it is for all kinds of decision making. even if u need to choose either chewing stick or tooth brush, d prayer would suffice ![]() nd about courting, u av heard our sisters nd brodas say a thing or two here, so dont bring that up again ok?? but then paitor, ow wld u sleep with someone u aint married to nd expect satani not to av a way. dat is absolutely wrong nd it is a corrupt practice. Jesus wldnt agree to dat. nd if u dont marry each other eventually, he wld av bn dat close to u?? no oooo.I checked d link. .mature as dey cald it nd makes a lot of sense. But av known dat since forever. PEOPLE dont change. They can become MUslim though ![]() |
Uplawal, did u see d video ?? Not only did this guy sing the songs but he showed pictures of nude women. I had to stop seeing it at that point, even as a female. would the prophet have done that?? u talking of Muyideen says a lot about you. Even if he had done ds, it wld still av bn wrong. We dont take what people say because of whom they are. It has to always be a matter of right or wrong. even the Imams we follow av it in their different books that if we find out that they were wrong, we should not follow them but the guidance of rasulullah. In fact, I'd rather read a novel than listen to Muhyideen. |
uplawal:sister Uplawal, welcome bak! I checked the verse u mentioned nd d commentary too. If u provide something scholarly on it, nd convincing enoff, believe me I'll stop relaxing my hair. I actually do all u av said above but there's still always d need to relax it. But until proven otherwise, it is halal. not every saloon is exposed nd except that avn ur hairdo outside is haram too, u dont need to av it in ur home. |
Sweetnecta:the best advice any1 can take ![]() |
of what benefit is the 10 million naira after their death.. A very silly reason to commit suicide. |
hopefully, ds will go a long wayyyyyy |
am i surprised u came up with such a response NO! u can try harder!!!!!!!! |
mUST U comment?? if u need to know how NL works, u can c d GENERAL section instead of embarrassing yourself here. I c it as more political is y i posted it here. |
Top Stories Full size free speech By John Cook Sep 23, 2011 4:39 PM 22,790 171 Muslim Students Convicted of Being Mean to Israeli Ambassador Last year, when Israeli Ambassador Michael Oren announced his intention to speak at the University of California at Irvine, some members of the school's Muslim Students Union plotted to inform Oren of their feelings about some of Israel's policies. They used their voices to do so. This is illegal! Today 10 members of the so-called "Irvine 11" (charges against one of the original eleven students were dropped) were convicted on misdemeanor charges of disrupting a meeting and conspiracy to disrupt a meeting in a Santa Ana, Calif., court. Here's what they did, which is a crime: In February 2010, as Oren began to speak about the U.S.-Israeli relationship at a campus speech, the students rose one-by-one to object to Israel's occupation of the West Bank. One shouted, "Michael Oren, propagating murder is not an expression of free speech!" As the offender was removed from the audience, a designated compatriot shouted, "You, sir, are an accomplice to genocide!" And so on. According to an attorney for one of the students, the longest of the interruptions lasted roughly 8 seconds, and the total amount of time taken up by their outbursts—combined—was roughly one minute. That's one minute too long when you're talking about Muslim students interrupting the Israeli ambassador to the U.S. to inform him that some people think his country's policies are unjust, which is illegal, so don't do it. http://gawker.com/5843400/muslim-students-convicted-of-being-mean-to-israeli-ambassador |

These guys must be made to face the full wrath of the law. Shame on all the people who claimed it didnt happen. shame on Abia state government |
your address says dubai and your price tag is in naira ?? |
mdsocks:i read ds again nd actually got something from d purple. d'u realise dat ur wife's family is also ur family. u would need to care about whom dey are. Afterall, her parents would be ur children's grandparents and her neices deir cousins. they would av their holidays wv dem nd prolly share much more time wv dem dan wv ur own family. Just Imagine a lady marrying an Abacha. Except that the children have a different surname or never live a public life, dey'd be regarded as relatives of the tyrant leader. But really, I can understand a situation where a child doesnt agree wv her father's attitude for example and shld not be judged, especially for marriage accordingly. But it would matter to me still. I bet my grandma always say he has to be from a good home, not necessarily a rich one! |
mashaAllah, i particularly enjoyed d story of the camels. ds is highly thought provoking. Muslims of earlier generations did so well in different fields. d likes of Ibn Sinai can not b forgotten in medicine. I will InshaAllah post an article on known Muslims in d medcal field. I wish muslims of ds generation can take a cue from dem thereby restoring our lost GLORY! |
maclatunji:while writing that, I had a feeling some people might be thinking my list is exclusive, as pointed earlier. I dont think praying for a good heart should be a deols thing. Even if someone desires d opposite of all i av said, dey'd still need someone wv a good heart. |
deols:now, my point on the above. note- am going to b writing my view as well as perceived views as d case may be. ![]() a.education level- a university degree at least. I'll value more a guy who has a masters if he ddnt study medicine or law nor is he a chattered accountant. b. finance/employment/type of job - It is common to hear Nigerians say women/girls are after their money. But those girls are definitely not people like me. I am comfy at d moment nd I do not doubt that I;ll b able to make my own money in d future. But that is not to say dat am goin to consider a lazy bone just soo\ as not to seem a gold digger I'll feel prouder of helping him start up dan going for a 'ready-made'. But do I really blame girls wu go out for d rich ones wv d claim dat d ones u suffer wv might not appreciate it ones they bcome rich?? It is when they bcom rich that they remember they can marry other women. yh! girls say ds! so I hope some guys av somthn to say about it. c.social strata- I dont think I have a preference as regards ds but I av d following to say. It isnt such a big problem marrying from a higher one than you as a girl. The problem is of a girl marrying from a lower one. complexes can set in at some point with the guy regarding her attitude as a consequence of her background. Imagine that she goes to a family function. Her greetings(mayb not bending enough) might make them see her as being pompous. ![]() I also av known of a very rich guy who wldnt marry from the upper class. He thinks such girls wont give him his due respect and might av her father's support if they have issues. ![]() d. family heritage/ nobility -some names ring a bell. Yar'adua for example or Dangote or an Obasanjo. If the family av bn known for good. Mayb philantropy,, or somthn dat has to do wv d deen. Possibly, dat all d ten yr olds are haafiz, I bet, it is going to matter to me. If i meet a guy's mother nd she's d one who cant say two words without a curse, I bet I don run be dat. give a critical appraisal of ds nd am gonna b appreciatn u! |
smih |
mdsocks:dats somthn really. dat mishap must av bn somthn ooo. nyways, its prolly 4 d best |
mdsocks:wa alaykum salam. How about helping us learn from you too ![]() |
maclatunji:now, dats specific. . . |
