I'm really not the religious type because there are so many questions that religions have not been able to answer. At best, they reach a conjecture and leave the rest to God. However, I believe in spirituality since it's clear to me, based on personal experience, that God is true. I may not be able to prove this with facts but I believe so.Actually, I see dat u seek to know God and what you exhibit is one thing that is lacking in many religious pple. We were born into these religions but not many av actually gone out of their way to understand d nature of God. THe basic thing is KNOWING God. Allah says in the Qur'an- “AND FOLLOW NOT THAT WHICH THOU HAS NO KNOWLEDGE; for every act of hearing or of seeing or of (feeling in) the heart will be questioned (on the Day of Reckoning).” Q17:36 Also, In an hadith Qudsi, Allah says, “Know ME, search for knowledge about ME before you worship Me. How can he who does not know Me worship ME?” This is d first step. Again, while the intentions of those who started so many of the religions may have been pure or genuine, the religions have become twisted and filled with misconceptions through the years. This may explain the existence of sects and denominations, within the same religious tree, all claiming to be the only and true way to God. This said, I think the objective of all true religions is godliness and not the rituals per se. This is why I emphasize godliness over religiousness.what if u are wrong? what if the rituals are how You show God you truly believe in Him , and not like u'r just saying u believe so u cld be saved(in case he exists) on d day of judgement. pple wu do chrislam are scared in case its eida way. In addition, though religions may try, no one really understands the true nature of God or His ways. I think each religion is an attempt to achieve spirituality or godliness for its adherents. In this sense, religion is a framework established by man for various reasons which range from the quest to exert control, stroke egos or whatever. In this vein, religion tends to be mechanical, for example: just confess your sins before you die even after you've been extremely wicked and cruel all your life and bam!, paradise is yours. Try as you can, it is difficult for me to understand this 'death-bed confession syndrome', which covertly encourages ungodliness, because God is just. What if I show u something that tells u of the true nature of God. It is still d basis of faith. Wld u be willing to read nd digest it. I am so willing to show u dat. On the other hand, spirituality is born in a person and develops in the person. It may be activated or jumpstarted by religion or by personal experience. It encompasses all aspects of an individual's life. While religion is hard-coded as defined by the 'originator', spirituality is freely chosen by the individual. I agree that spirituality is inborn. We all just feel that somehow. Children start to ask about things, u wonder how the thoughts came about. the hardcore part can be scary I think. It might even be what is keeping someone away. My guess may be true ![]() If you insist on knowing my religion in spite of this explanation, I can choose any one that comes to my mind.hmmn! No, thanks! |
wow! u seem to av a very good understanding of what u'r into. I just dont understand ow u go about the spirituality without a religion guiding you. You might want to explain that. ![]() |
IBN SINA IBN SINA (980-1037 A.D.). Abu Ali al-Hussain Ibn Abdallah Ibn Sina was born in 980 A.D. at Afshana near Bukhara. The young Bu Ali received his early education in Bukhara, and by the age of ten had become well versed in the study of the Qur'an and various sciences. He started studying philosophy by reading various Greek, Muslim and other books on this subject and learnt logic and some other subjects from Abu Abdallah Natili, a famous philosopher of the time. While still young, he attained such a degree of expertise in medicine that his renown spread far and wide. At the age of 17, he was fortunate in curing Nooh Ibn Mansoor, the King of Bukhhara, of an illness in which all the well-known physicians had given up hope. On his recovery, the King wished to reward him, but the young physician only desired permission to use his uniquely stocked library. On his father's death, Bu Ali left Bukhara and travelled to Jurjan where Khawarizm Shah welcomed him. There, he met his famous contemporary Abu Raihan al-Biruni. Later he moved to Ray and then to Hamadan, where he wrote his famous book Al-Qanun fi al-Tibb. Here he treated Shams al-Daulah, the King of Hamadan, for severe colic. From Hamadan, he moved to Isphahan, where he completed many of his monumental writings. Nevertheless, he continued travelling and the excessive mental exertion as well as political turmoil spoilt his health. Finally, he returned to Hamadan where he died in 1037 A.D. He was the most famous physician, philosopher, encyclopaedist, mathematician and astronomer of his time. His major contribution to medical science was his famous book al-Qanun, known as the "Canon" in the West. The Qanun fi al-Tibb is an immense encyclo- paedia of medicine extending over a million words. It surveyed the entire medical knowledge available from ancient and Muslim sources. Due to its systematic approach, "formal perfection as well as its intrinsic value, the Qanun superseded Razi's Hawi, Ali Ibn Abbas's Maliki, and even the works of Galen, and remained supreme for six centuries". In addition to bringing together the then available knowledge, the book is rich with the author's original contribution. His important original contribution includes such advances as recognition of the contagious nature of phthisis and tuberculosis; distribution of diseases by water and soil, and interaction between psychology and health. In addition to describing pharmacological methods, the book described 760 drugs and became the most authentic materia medica of the era. He was also the first to describe meningitis and made rich contributions to anatomy, gynaecology and child health. His philosophical encyclopaedia Kitab al-Shifa was a monu- mental work, embodying a vast field of knowledge from philosophy to science. He classified the entire field as follows: theoretical knowledge: physics, mathematics and metaphysics; and practical knowledge: ethics, economics and politics. His philosophy synthesises Aristotelian tradition, Neoplatonic influences and Muslim theology. Ibn Sina also contributed to mathematics, physics, music and other fields. He explained the "casting out of nines" and its applica- tion to the verification of squares and cubes. He made several astronomical observations, and devised a contrivance similar to the vernier, to increase the precision of instrumental readings. In physics, his contribution comprised the study of different forms of energy, heat, light and mechanical, and such concepts as force, vacuum and infinity. He made the important observation that if the perception of light is due to the emission of some sort of particles by the luminous source, the speed of light must be finite. He propounded an interconnection between time and motion, and also made investigations on specific gravity and used an air thermo- meter. In the field of music, his contribution was an improvement over Farabi's work and was far ahead of knowledge prevailing else- where on the subject. Doubling with the fourth and fifth was a 'great' step towards the harmonic system and doubling with the third seems to have also been allowed. Ibn Sina observed that in the series of consonances represented by (n + 1)/n, the ear is unable to distinguish them when n = 45. In the field of chemistry, he did not believe in the possibility of chemical transmutation because, in his opinion, the metals differed in a fundamental sense. These views were radically opposed to those prevailing at the time. His treatise on minerals was one of the "main" sources of geology of the Christian encyclopaedists of the thirteenth century. Besides Shifa his well-known treatises in philosophy are al-Najat and Isharat. |
Knowledge is emphasised in Islam. Two very great hadiths * the ink of a scholar is holier than the blood of a matyr *seek for knowledge even if in China tell us of how important the seek for knowledge is in Islam. Muslim Nations were once prosperous due to their ability to make things happen. But Muslims seem to av become lazy, making our glory a thing of the past. Hopefully, we'll derive inspiration from the following GREAT Muslims who contributed immensely to the field of Medicine. SOme ignorant folks might learn too that Islam is not tantamount to poverty, disease nor to violence. |
am starting a new thread on Muslims who contributed to the field of medicine as promise ![]() |
You mean by saying the facts about Ibadan, I am biting the hand that fed me? Na wao!!. Is there anything that I said here that is overly exaggerated? Anyways, Ibadan did not ''feed'' me for free. I paid for every ''feeding'' that Ibadan gave me.
and dats d only part u saw of my post ?? I said that in relation with the ethnic undertone. I showed my resentments too nd I hope the government would do something fast. |
Ibadan is naturally beautiful with the hills and all that, but that beauty has been badly defaced by old, decrepit and rusty structures that adorn more than 70% of the city and some adjoining landscapes (read one of my earlier posts) such as around Ojoo, Moniya etc. Now let me see you tell me this is not true. A place like Bodija has the good and the bad, and almost the whole of Mokola and Sango are rusty, but those Mokola hills are enchanting. In fact, I know Ibadan like the back of my palms that I can safely conclude that that city is one big slum with a sprinkling of fresh breath here and there.
if u know ibadan ds much, u must av lived, been educated, or worked there. Y are u biting the hand dat sheltered, educated or fed u?? ![]() I wish this thread has no tribal undertone. For truly, I av my resentment concerning the state of the city where I was born, bread and buttered. The last time I was in Ibadan, I was sad and then became angry. We av bn very unlucky wv d governors w'v had and Ajimobi isnt evn helping matters now. As a kid, I used to c lagos as being very dirty cos Ibadan was better. Bodija was the place to be, favos, Leventis, Famad, bata nd their likes were the places to shop. How about trans amusement park and UI zoo- all we had as children All of these are things of the past nd nothn to write home about has replaced them. When rescue came to UI zoo, every animal became tagged with a banner, donated by . . .(like every penny Nigerians spend must av their faces printed on it) Moniya, ologun eru shld av bn new settlements, planned. But, pple just keep buying lands and building the way they like all over d place. worse is d fact that, Everywhere is a market. ![]() |
toba:someone else? are u saying there is some1 already? tell me about her plsssss ![]() javalove:na so job plenty ?? ow d'u do ur trotting then ?? I am dedicated to my job for their sake too. ![]() Seriously, any sacrifice is worth the while God help u! |

op should be proud to show us his own home town . there are rusted roofs every where in Nigeria. But, Ibadan has hills that make those roofs very visible either from above or below. op is definitely doing this deliberately. There are many beautiful places in Ibadan. If u stay inside UCH nd look around, especially seeing Premier hotel(on mokola hill) and d cocacola area from there, u'd b marveled at the beauty. Ibadan has the potential of being entirely beautiful if some planning cld be done to make good use of its natural hills. Development can occur from the outskirt inward. Majority of the big pple av their family houses under those rusted roofs. many are not ready to give dem up. By the next generation, hopefully they'd be getting converted into modern buildings. The Queen cinema area is changing actually, wv those houses being sold to pple who convert them into modern buildings. |
okay, i was only hopn for d best 4 u sha. . toba:so wu were u talking to |
toba:what did u see ![]() did u c it in ur dream or in broad daylight ![]() divinely shown to you or by fellow humans ![]() or is it some ego tuning palaver ![]() |
FYI i hardly take iyan. may be once in a year or at most twice in a year.when u do eat it, that tongue can av an effect. take it bak ![]() This is a big lie an an attempt to deceive us. your prophet is in no way super human. a super human wouldnt die like any other human. a super human wouldnt sleep with men or women. a super human would perform signs and wonders. the prophet is just a normal human being like toba and deols.i probably did not realise wat superhuman means. Of course He is human just like any of us and the Qur'an supports dat in ds verse- 41:6 Say: "I am only a human being like you. It is revealed to me that your God is One God, therefore take straight path to Him and obedience to Him, and seek forgiveness of Him. stop deceiving your self if the law isnt biased, then it ought to bound your prophet so he wouldnt have married more than 4 wives. some of the apostles that wrote some texts in the bible were also bound by what they wrote. your prophet was just just like any other apostle u are here claiming u have a say or u would have a say. who is an apostle ?? It seems u'r getting it wrong. He is a prophet like Jesus is. Whatever happened to Jesus on the cross as u claim doesnt av to happen to everyone abi?? same goes here. You need to start seeing marriage beyond the enjoynment part. Do u thnk it is easy dealing wv a woman, let alone 4 or more? his actions were meant to pass some messages across. Am sure u are aware of his marriage to Zainab. can u tell him not todr's an ansa to ds in my previous reply, U can read it again. Any woman who is not satisfied wv ds has d option of divorce u know. If u cant stay married to your polygamous husband, u can always leave for a monogamous one. u shld ask questions on how polygamy can be helpful to the society. y are u so negative about it. Do you think it is better that men cheat on their wives in their supposed monogamous marriages than to bring other women into the marriage ![]() |
Toba is reverting back to his incorrigible self. He was fine for a few weeks. I'm suspecting his other moniker might be Frosbel the Sociopath.
toba can play the game but he underestimated his opponents ![]() |
so u read dat from my post ![]() |
very very wrong ![]() |
wow! dats amazing!!!!!! ![]() |
chakula:u did not follow the rule. pls do javalove:and you too. u did not follow the rules! |
toba:u seem to be saying exactly what i was saying. Bismillahi r Rahmanir Rahim explains all of these. oba ajoke aye, oba asake orun. He is entirely merciful in this world, meaning he wld provide for all and sundry irrespective of their religions. And He is especially merciful on the day of jugement when his mercy wld be for the pple who worshipped him alone. Now, its okay to call pple to your religion but my point is preach the nature of God. How great he is and why He should be worshipped and not look out for what makes pple vulnerable nd use dat against them. The church sells in Nigeria today because of poverty. The handlers of the church know how to get them by using the loopholes in their lives to draw them in. They give them false hopes about better lives. They hardly preach about goodliness nd d fear of God. Its all about healing the sick nd helping the youth get some job. Single ladies for marriage and even charging them on that. If only every one wld look more into the spiritual part of it, one wld see a trend in prophethood and realise Muhammad as the last prophet and the one to be followed now. That is just the reason why pple in developed countries(where poverty is not a problem and d need for spirituality is d driving force) are coming into Islam. They dont just listen to what CNN tells them of Islam and ignore the Millions of Muslims they av known and av been living with for years while judging them by the ones they dont know or never interacted with. Toba, dont u see dats pathetic that the lifestyle of the many yoruba Muslims you av known nd of those u claimed were nice to you doesnt matter when you talk or judge Muslims. But the boko haramists and d Osamas of this world are the better examples to u of muslims. i seriously smh for u. i hope its worth the while though. |
toba:when its pounded yam nd efo elegusi, lemme know cos only then wld I feel d impact now, back to d topic- this is partiality. is the prophet super human? yes, he is! His life provides us wv all kinds of examples. His marriages mean so much to d deen. all rules in the bible applies to Pastors and the congregation. just like all d laws in d Qur'an apply to the Imams and the congregation. its a case of u having no say at all? so are u going to accept it if he eventually marries 4?I av a say on whom I marry. In dat marriage I av a say concerning my children. I am to practice my religion without any interference. I am allowed to av property and spend it as I deem fit. I av a right to be clothed, fed, housed, provided for by the man who marries me. In turn, he has rights which I can not interfere wv but that I can advise him on like he would do for me concerning the above. Marrying of other women is a privilege a man has. While I would want him to myself alone, I should not do any thing bad or overboard in doing that. I can advise him not to. I can be wise enough to convince him against it, but nothing more. So, if he does it eventually, I'll take it. without any troubles. |
Nothing will happen to the kids insha Allah. ,interesting apart from d bolded. . ![]() |

me not covering up anythingit doesnt matter anyways. lets wait till thenno problem. so looro kan. according to the quran xtians are going to hell?if they dont change and follow d message of the prophet. |
olawalebab:i realise I ddnt answer the question why. some girls think delaying increases their value to him. dont know how true that is, But i do know many immature guys abound So, dat cld b true. I know of a girl whose relationship wv a guy she liked so much didnt last long. Long after that period, they had a talk and he claimed one of the things that put him off is that she told him yes immediately after he asked. So, u c, some Men probably like the chase too ![]() |
