My cousin (distant) used to have a man chasing her a while back. The kind of insults, she rained on this guy were unimaginable but this guy will still call her the next day. Disturb her phone until she unleashes another round of abuse.

You bar the number, they will use another one to call.

I could not understand how the man kept doing this.

It was so bad, this was like 10 years ago. She converted the guy to a maga. She will command him to buy her credit and abuse him on top. The guy still could not get the message.

I think that Islam is discriminated against especially in places where Muslims are a minority or are not in power.

But some non Muslims may also claim to be discriminated against in Muslim populated areas. But on a general scale and given the acts of terrorism carried out by a few Muslim and the press coverage that gets, it is only expected that Muslims would be discriminated against.

On your question about how we cope. I have spent more time around comfort zones where it doesnt matter that I am a Muslim.


Beyond that zone, anyone who wants to discriminate against me would have to think twice because my head and shoulders are usually up high and I cannot be talked down on. Whatever problem relating with people I may have would usually not have to do with my religion.

But I remember that when I was in secondary school, even though I was supposed to make prefect, it was whispered around that our SU principal just did not want that. It does not matter now though..I did way better than the prefects in my final exam..it was Allah's doing

Here on NL though, some intolerant people just want to use the 'she is a Muslim' against deols even when the topic has nothing to do with Islam. Some assume that my opinion of certain things is religion based and that is just unfair.

Generally, I think I haven't had to deal with much discrimination based on faith.

There are lines that must be maintained. Men are 'hunters' and would read a very nice attitude as a 'green light'. In reality, there is no such thing as a male-female friendship. You just need to dig a little deeper.

As much as possible, there has to be a level of neutrality and bluntness from sisters, on a general basis.

There should also as much as possible no cursing because of an obnoxious person. We always have to try to maintain our Islamic values. Be firm, stern and direct but do not use bad words.

I like the part where you mentioned neutrality and bluntness. And to be obnoxious is bad but who does that if not women #joking.

Actually, I dislike men who play games.It is childish to me. Trying to be funny when you'r not because some books say it is how to get a woman irks me. But what I dislike more than the above are men who have characteristics that are normally, feminine..sorry, I dont know how to express it better and not generalising that all women do these.

talking too much

arguing without ending it

keeping malice


being verbally abusive.. etc.

So even when a woman becomes verbally abusive, a man who wants to beat her at it totally loses my respect. and You will find yourself sometimes conversing with those types. I saw one who later apologised and started to talk to me about other things about his life..He told me when he found a girl to marry sef.

What did I do with him? I gave it to him in full measure!! He was a chauvinist at the start but I think he changed by the time I was done with him.

I am not interested in doing this anymore though..I don't even have the time . I think mothers should train their sons to respect women..so they don't get taught outside.


Women shall have to keep their self respect and whatever way is ok so far it is the man that is coming to meet them and not otherwise.If being rude works for you, just don't be too rude

But wait how do you fend off some guys who want something with you without sounding rude because some can really get on your nerves.. What excuse or reasons do you give that can make them see reason ? Trying to learn one or more tips.

How to fend off people? There is no one-way. The circumstances determine that.

In some cases, you may have been talking interestingly and after a while a drop in conversation and a final no talking would tell a smart person you are not interested in talking anymore.



Some guys are scared of the No and want to talk to you stylishly or make statements like 'you know what I mean'. In my mind, I think, I dont know what you mean . Those ones are easy to let go off..very easy.


On the road, I say things like, 'I am sorry, I have to go now.'....simples.



Some men can be funny o..There is a guy who has sent like 14 salam repeatedly as a message to me on facebook.. b4 d unresponded 14, I used to answer just so as to be 'nice'...but now you can understand that someone who continues for that long isn't a smart person and not one deols would like

This favors the increased presence of estrogen in relation to testosterone in a man. He then develops female characteristics- the breast!!
