In another sign that there is divine ‘passmark’, the Timi of Ede, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal has called on the people of the state not to cease their support for Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State and the All Progressives Congress for continuity of good governance and development of the state.

Oba Lawal who described Aregbesola’s performance as outstanding said no governor has surpassed his achievements in the history of the state.

The royal father stated this in his palace while playing a host on the governor who was on a goodwill visit to the people of Ede Federal Constituency which comprises Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore and Ejigbo Local Governments.

Congratulating Aregbesola on his achievements in the last seven and half years, Oba Lawal said it is impossible for anyone to say the governor has not raised the bar of governance in Osun, saying that the state has continued to witness unprecedented development in all aspects of the economy.

Oba Lawal who prayed for APC to emerge victorious in the coming gubernatorial elections in the state, said continuity remains only way to sustain the transformation programmes of the Aregbesola government.

He said: “I want to use this medium to congratulate our governor on his achievements in the state in the last seven and half years. Whether you like it or not, one cannot say that Aregbesola has not done well in Osun.

“Ede land has truly benefited from this administration’s intervention in making life better for the masses, you cannot satisfy everybody but truth must be told, this the present government has tried for us in Osun.

“Anytime I travel to the Gbongan axis of the state and I see the dual carriage way under construction, especially the Adebisi Akande interchange bridge, I always say to my driver that Aregbesola should be praised for developing Osun.

Africa’s richest man, Alhaji Aliko Dangote has been asked not to meddle in the September 22 governorship election in Osun State by giving financial support to a candidate.

A group of progressives in the state known as Omoluabi United also asked the business mogul to openly declare his stand in the election in a full page statement published in a national daily on Wednesday.

The group pleaded with Dangote not to use his wealth to confer undue advantage on Senator Ademola Adeleke to win the election.

Senator Adeleke who is the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the election is said to enjoy the backing and financial support of Dangote for the top job.

Omoluabi United identified a video which has gone viral in the social media, asserting Dangote’s financial support for Senator Adeleke, as its justification to ask the business mogul to publicly make his stand known in the September 22 election.

”There is a video doing the rounds asserting that you have already taken a stand in the stakes of Osun State.

”Yes, you may not cast a ballot, but even the very news, real or fake, of your support for him would give him an undeserved advantage and rob other more credible candidates of a level playing field.

”Please, let us know: Are you standing with the cause of four (4) million Omoluabi of Osun or not?,” the group asked.

While expressing excitement at Dangote’s interest in Osun State, Omoluabi United begged Dangote not to elevate the wrong values, by association in Osun State.

”Given our shared preference for stellar values, we are horrified to hear in the news making the rounds in our state that a fellow boasts of how he would deploy your money to buy the electorate of Osun. True to his character, he brags not of his own money but to utilise the funds Alhaji Dangote earned from customers in Osun State and others in Nigeria to from his enterprise and apply it to unwholesome ends.

”Please, do not elevate the wrong values, by association, in Osun State. Do not do to Osun State what you would not wish on Kano State or any progressive geographical space in Nigeria. Or on any of the companies under the Dangote Group.

”You would not hire to run any part of Dangote Group a character without the necessary school certificate, a waffler, a fellow with no record of any personal attainment in any of life’s undertakings.

”Some people who know what they are aiming for have propped him up as a stooge to clinch for themselves the position of the First Citizen of Osun State to milk the resources of the state. Even to the point of successfully defending him on the case of certificate irregularity. The court agreed on the spuriousness of the useless document, but yet on the point of ”technicality” retained him as the stooge (and pretender) to aspire to the Office of the Governor of Osun! It baffles us how, or instead, why you would support such a character for such a position of responsibility on which hangs the fate of over four million people?,” the group stated.

Fashola truly supported him despite not trusting in his abiltiy to govern Lagos well but he believes he will likely continue with his work. He even castigated Fashola remember the Website Saga. I am not saying Fashola is innoncent here oooo but it shouldnt have come from Ambode considering how the Nigerian system works. And Fashola was able to defend himself and the matter died - why didnt Ambode continue with the allegation and sue him? He has no case just wanted to rubbish Great Fash!!! But look at him today.

For those who don't know Fashola remains the best public administrator Nigeria has ever seen. Forget infrastructure and projects he executed he is a leader in all ramifications.

He is the only Nigerian leader that has wao me. Note I am someone that expects excellence at all levels and he did an excellent job. This BIG head man is a failure.


I love Fashola there is no doubt about it but it didnt just happen over night. He performed excellently and thus earn my respect and love.

During enquiry by Nigerian NewsDirect concerning the advertorial published by Omoluabi United, the Director Group Communication, Dangote Group Mr Anthony Chiejina noted that Aliko Dangote has NO INTENTION of contesting for any political office in Nigeria or sponsor any candidates during the Osun polls. According to him, Dangote is currently saddled with the responsibility of building a world-class enterprise aimed at providing employment opportunities for Nigerian youths and uplifting the standard of living of the general populace.

In an advertorial published in a national daily on Wednesday, September 12 by a group called Omoluabi United, the group purportedly implored Aliko Dangote to refrain from sponsoring or backing one of the candidates in the Osun State gubernatorial elections slated for Saturday, September 22. It was learnt that the candidate had claimed that Alhaji Dangote will support him financially to win gubernatorial election slated for September 22, 2018.

Aliko is appealing for restraint on the part of those making such calls or trying to tarnish his name in the political space through such sponsorship insinuations, and assures the public of his commitment to satisfying his customers and contributing to building a strong economy in Nigeria and beyond.

Chiejina added: “I know Aliko is a commodity trader that values every kobo he makes. He is not a government contractor who lives large today and goes bankrupt tomorrow. He hates being associated with narrow and parochial interests; he is not backing any candidate.

“They are name-droppers and men of straw,” he warned

He called on Omoluabi United to note that he has nothing to do with the so-called candidate using his name to campaign election in State of Osun

I doubt if people like you attended any higher institution at all because if you did, you will know direct primaries have been used in the US since the 1890s Progressive Era (when Tinubu's grandfather escaped a slave ship).
